- This Samsung QN50Q60TAF TV keeps restarting no matter what I did but after doing some basic troubleshooting I was able to get it going just by taping the ribbon cable inside. You can do it too!.
Tools
Screwdriver and tape that's it.
Procedure:
1. Take off the back
2. Disconnect the cable from the main board to the power supply
3. Verify the backlights are on
4. Disconnect ribbon cable to mainboard (see if stays on)
5. Tape ribbon cable on LCD panel.

repairing this TV on the exact same area for the second time now. The fact that Samsung likely intentionally made this faulty engineering decision to get more sales is nothing short of scandalous. Thank you for the help!
Samsung has been reported to be utilizing slave labour…. Imagine being one of those workers; what satisfaction could you get beyond doing crappy work for the Pennies you earn.
Thank you so much!
Literally 4 days after the warranty ran out I had this problem. Samsung didn't want to know, and I was quoted 350£ for a diagnostic with no guarantee of repair. Even if its only temporary fix you've given me some time to try and afford a new tv (I originally brought damsung thinking the premium price would mean good quality, never again!)
But yeah. Thank you so much dude.
Awesome video. Just saved me from buying new parts that I didn’t need. My Samsung QLED had the same issue and I was sure it was the power supply or main board. Found this video and fixed my TV with a small piece of tape without any noticeable loss of picture quality. Thanks!
This was exactly my problem and the exact solution. I paused a show and when I came back my TV was power cycling every few seconds. Took it apart and unplugged the left side. Saw that was the problem child and spent a bit finding the exact culprit (5-7 in from the left) taped it up and it worked. Thank you for providing this easy solution! Never buying a Samsung Qled TV again.
This fix worked on my Samsung 65” TV!!! I am so happy that I don’t have to throw it away. Seriously guy who made this video, I love you and owe you a bottle of Jack. Wahoo!!!!!
I have a TU8000 that kept rebooting every minute or so. I followed these instructions and it fixed the issue. Thanks!!!
This is an incredible fix. Geek Squad quoted me a repair price that was 60% of the cost of my TV (so I'd just buy a new one). 15 mins and a lil scotch tape and we're back in action. This video just saved me hundreds of dollars.
cheers
You are a legend!!! Fixed QE50Q60TAUXXU in under an hour. Covered with tape pretty same area as you showed in the video. Worked straight away so didn't even have to experiment. Samsung you should be ashamed...
Your method worked. You saved me the price of a new TV. Thanks.
Note: my TV broke down 3 months after the end of the warranty.
Just happened to me last night pretty suspicious it seems to be happening to most people soon as warranty ends
So glad I came across this video. Was hopeless and was almost sure that i may have to buy a new tv. Thought of booking in a technician but thought of giving it a go myself after watching your video. Went straight for that pins where you showed in your video. Tried shifting few times, got the sound on and the reboot stopped. But the reboot started as soon as i tried to plug that pin in again, until one spot from the left worked. Bingo. Not only that it also fixed few yellow green horizontal lines i had started to get few weeks back on top of the screen . Thank you man. Have subscribed to your channel. 👍 You the man.
Thank you for posting this repair video. I appreciate your persistence to repair things and generate less waste in the world. Scotch tape method worked on my Samsung UN55KS8000FXZA that kept boot cycling.
I did this initially and it did not work. I knew I had a good power supply, but was not sure about the main board and led panel. I went ahead and installed a new main board and no change. I did not find any burned resistors on the led panel. Went back to scotch taping along the 2 connectors on the main board. Tried a few different sections and then all of a sudden, voila!
For anyone out there with a Samsung and who has tried almost everything, try the scotch tape method again on various sections. You may get lucky! It’s worth a shot and costs zero dollars!
Sir you have fixed my tv and that was the issue the part is also sold online as well. I want to personally take the time to say thank you for your help and guidance I will point others to your video as well ! Saved us from another $400 TV God Bless you sir
Hi, thanks so much for this video. My Samsung is only 3years old. It started cycling through a power loop this week. 30mins working with the scotch tape and now I’m back to a working tv with a few horizontal black lines. I’m sure I’ll probably replace it, but now there is absolutely no rush. Thanks again 👍
Dude it actually worked.
Yes some horizontal pixels are missing. Yes you can see the lines if you 12 inches away from the screen.
But 2 hours later...its work...
Nice one. Truely appreciate you taking the time to make the video....my TV is
UE50TU8000KXXU
IT NOW WORKING
Unbelievable! My TV is fixed. I followed the instructions and indeed the solution was taping up the four pins like you showed. Perfect picture, no lines or loss of image quality. Thanks!!!
nice
i did hide 4 lines as he did but i still see a little black line in middle screen and 2 little green lines middle up of the tv .. any suggestion ?
@@maximelevesque5914 if you can see pictures and TV powered ON, start focusing on those 4 pins you covered. Take a thin tape and start covering 1 pin at a time instead of all 4. One of those four pins are having an issues. The TV shall work
@@NewsonsElectronics thanks man
@@NewsonsElectronics hey newson where are you located? I'm in oakville
loved the way you ran through the process of diagnosing the fault and loved it more that a tape fixed the issue for me too. (i placed the tape exactly where you taped it in the video)
Contacted Samsung and I was told my warranty ran out (its funny how things go wrong as soon as the warranty runs out - 6 months to be exact). And they were charging me £110 for inspection but the fix itself could be more.
I will make sure that my next TV isn't going to be Samsung.
I originally thought the fault was with the power supply board since the tv was failing to switch on and constantly rebooting. So I ordered a used replacement Power Supply Board from £40 from eBay. Which of course, did not work since it wasn't a Power Supply Board issue. (If only I had come across this video sooner, I wouldn't have had to go through the hassle of ordering and returning the PCB)
Just as in the video, I followed the diagnosis steps and just as in the video, the fault was in the display flex and on the exact same pins (Seems to be a common issue judging by the number of views on this video and the positive comments in it).
I am happy that this fixed for me. For how long this will work, only time will tell.
thank you! when i taped like you, i got lines, but it worked. then i taped three pins and started one to the right and got a perfect picture. so thankful
This is a brilliant guide! I was almost fed up of my TV and about to throw it out, but your instructions saved the day. Thank you so much and I wish you the very best! 👍
thanks
Unbelievable ! I just did this on my 75" Q60 after replacing both PCB's and returning them i was about to toss the tv and saw this video and it worked ! Thanks for sharing this much appreciated!
Thanks, this saved me $1000 dollars. I followed it and the exact same thing right side scotch tape fixed my TV. Thanks a ton!!
AMAZING FIND ! I did the same it worked GREAT ! In India Samsung wanted 1000us$ for a new panel. The missing pixels are not obvious unless you close up and specifically look for it. Thanks for making it a GREENER WORLD 🌎 Mine was a SAMSUNG QLED 64R
why did they not just change the cable ?
Amazing ! Working fix, if you see some lines but screen is turning on just move the tape by few mm to other side or cut the tape so it is thinner
Thank a lot sir! I followed this guide, step by step and it worked perfectly! I tried the tape in different places but it happened to work when I put the tape in the same place you put yours. To clarify for others, this worked on my Samsung UE50TU8000K.
You’re greatly appreciated, you’ve saved me a lot of money! 👍
I have the exact same model as you and just used this video to fix the same issue. So far the TV is staying on and working perfectly. Can I ask if your TV is working 2 months on? Thanks
Que pones sin y cuantos hay que cubrir
Is your TV still working?
Thanks man. Spent 3 hours trying the tape fix from other videos with 2 LVDS cables but mine only has one and there were so many pins it just wasn't working. Tried unplugging the left from right and it stopped restarting so I knew it was internal and which side but didn't think to cover those pins. My tv is a TU8000 and looks pretty much perfect now. Crazy how common this issue and fix is. Even Samsung techs do the tape fix!
Which pin did you cover ? I have tu8000 aswell
my side i did on un50tu8000 but maximum i could ve been able to do i can see a black line with 2 little green line .. could been able to bring back 100%
I am dealing with the same one now 50tu8000. It was reseting itself and i tried to play with the tape and got some pictures and the weird now is that i have full picture without any tape on the ribbons. I have no idea how that happened but i do have few horizontal lines which still cannot clear. Any ideas please?
@@dobrilstoev2925from my research you’ll have to play around with the tape again until you isolate the pin or pins causing the horizontal lines
@@dobrilstoev2925 The exact same thing happened to me. Screen turned balck and set restarted after 30 Seconds. I could not find a tape position that was viewable. Either the set rebooted or the lines were across the whole screen. Then suddenly I had all tape removed an the set started and stayed on. Only had a very fine line, only visible on solid color background. The tv worked like this for a couple days and then suddenly shut off again. Now the restarting happens much faster, wich made testing with tape a little easier. But there is no combination that is viewable. I want the single line without tape back 😫
This was a very clear and precise video. Really liked the fault finding process. Much appreciated. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Amazing! I can't believe I fix a tv with your help! Subscribing!!!
Thankyou so much ! I followed your very detailed, methodical and precise video, pausing to carry out the steps. I now have a working tv again. Very happy, thanks again. 👌👍
This fixed mine. Works. First I had some black lines, then through trial and error I covered the right ones so there's 0 lines. Looks normal
Thanks much this actually works I just got a TV yesterday and I just finished fixing after watching your video didn't use tape tho I use a small strip of paper but it works 💯💯💯
My friend, this is absolutely sensational, saved me buying a new TV at Christmas. Top work.
Used to boot loop and restart randomly, I used the tape in the exact same spot. Works like new now. That's insane, I can't believe it actually worked. Same exact model. Found alongside the road during fall clean up 😵💫
You are the best! Like I was just about to put my QE50Q60TA to bin, got a new TV in the meantime, and decided to go online again and found You! It worked literally at the first time! I think samsung makes now tv that only work for 2 years lol I'll take 24 months warranty now!
great
Is your TV still working?
@mustafae.6719 yes! it is! I don't use it as my daily TV although it works perfectly fine!
@@demoniscoplease which particular side did u tape and how many likes did u cover. I have the same model as you
Could you share with pins you covered? I also have the same TV as you with the same problem.
Thank you so much for sharing this video, it actually fixed my TV. Seems it's a common issue with the Samsung Smart TV, the TV can barely last for 4 years without issue. I won't choose Samsung next time.
I try this fix as my last resort and it worked. Thanks for the great vid!
This works a treat, got the TV going not perfect but will work as a monitor or spare TV
You saved me a main board and what more. I spent hours putting tape on the panel flex that connects to the main board, managed to get sound but no image, until I found your video. Thanks a lot!
great
Hi @Rob DC , same. I was also only getting the sound while taping the flex. I followed your comment and tried to tape on the bottom cof. At some point, I am getting images, but the picture is so white and bright and the colour is too low. I tried adjusting the tapes, but not been fixed yet. Any idea on this mate, please
@@Sam-mr5ku You have to keep moving the tape around and probably try the other connectors.
@@RhymezDj I tried both sides, Rob. Funny thing is that it stops the boot loop if I remove either the left or right side.
@@Sam-mr5ku Same here. Disconnecting either the right side flex and left side flex produces the same results. It stops the rebooting but no picture =(
Just used this to fix my TV Samsung TU8000 50inch. Taped over Pin 12-15, couldn’t manage to cover any less without it working. A bit suspicious that all our models happen to be the same. Thanks so much for the video, was spending 2 hours trying to fix my tv. Definitely gonna have to eventually buy a new one
From which side did you count the pins?
Broo lmk what you did I have same issue as same tv Tu8000
Same model same issue.. Hope I can find which pins need to hide 😢😢
thank you so much! i thought i was gonna have to throw out my brand new tv. to everyone that fixed the issue of restarting but has no picture/bad lines going through the screen, i was having the same problem but i just messed around with the tape on the spot that it needed to be until the picture came back clear. it took me a little while. also, try to make the tape as small as you can. i only have mine covering maybe 2-3 lines.
Amazing! I have the same TV, same problem, and same spot on the ribbon. I trimmed down a plastic post-it note to do the fix because it has one end that’s not sticky so it was easier to move it around when trying different spots.
Thank you so much for this video! I was ready to throw my TV away, but it's back to good as new!
Couldn't cut the tape smaller than 2mm so covering 3(ish) pins but not noticeable at all. Very happy! X
Thanks so much for this video!
I've had the same Bootloop issue with my GU50TU8079UXZG and managed to solve my issue by taping ≈four of the pins on the ribbon cable with clear package tape! It may have taken one or two hours, but the TV runs perfect now once again! Thx a lot for your guide!
Thank you!!! This fixed my tv in such an easy way! Saved a lot of money (:
Wow I was able to fix mine using this method I tried, pin by pin trying to find the one, you can imagine how much work it was lol, it was actually 2 pin, I didn't want to cover more than the actual problem so I wouldn't lose anymore pixels lol but omg I spent half of the night trying to find a way to fix and and I watched a ton of videos before yours and each video provided me with some content to use because my TV is different, so far yours was a bit close to mine but mine had 2 of those belts lol I feel like a total technician now hahaha I should start some business hahaha Thanks man!
Which two pins and what's the model of your TV please?
I have a samsung q90r what has 2 belts,I have been trying a lot of options,I changed even the main board..and NOTHING so far!!
Bro started to get on his planeteer shit towards the end lmao but you my guy for making this video straight and to the point after a couple tried I got it💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾bout now my screen keeps turning yellow in random spots my tape is prolly to thicc though ,but yo my guy appreciate you out here saving lives
Bro my tv works but I got these green splotches that keep taking over my screen what do I don???
Thanks a lot man, I followed your instructions and my TV is working! I have the black the lines, which are noticeable, but it's fine for now. My Tv is QE50Q60T. It 40 days out of the warranty and Samsung didn't cover it. They charge for the panel and labor 369€ here in Greece...
i have same tried for about 3 hours the most perfect i has is one black line and 2 greens
I have exactly the Same model. And it’s working fine now. The lines are there but then I’ll live with it
Which pins did you try I have the same TV
I can’t believe it was that simple…
It wasn’t the exact layout as yours but the same method worked with mine
The color is just slightly off on some of the hues but its better than having to replace the whole tv.
Thank you so much for this vid, im not afraid of fixing things have done most of my life, I have a picture now but loads of lines so im going to take my time with the pins, I phoned a tv repair shop for parts went through everything he said bin it its the screen itself, didn't want to only 2 yrs old cost of living etc, cant believe how cheaply these are inside my QLED for the price bottom side strips at the screen was just taped in and with the heat was at an angle, all my Tvs are Samsung older ones that are still going won't be buying another Samsung my model QE50Q60TA
This video really helped!Thank you so much for this amazing work! You are a blessing!👍
Is your TV still working?
@@mustafae.6719 yes lol
So the masking tape worked on the left side ribbon cable, and now the TV stops turning on/of, and I see the white no HDMI source screen, but I notice 2 vertical lines about 1/4" apart going from top to bottom of screen right in the middle. Is this related to the masking tape or is the panel bad? It is a QN75Q6DRAF. I assume the masking tape is a fix for a short in the cable, would replacing the cable solve the issue? I read online that vertical stationary lines could be a bad tcom connection. I already replaced the power and main boards, bit not even sure that is the issue.
Worked for my QE50Q64TAU, I nailed it down to only one pin which was causing shortage, it was restarting, but taping this one pin worked! Apparently, these QLED models from 2020 are lasting just until warranty and then it dies within few months. This fix causes minor artefacts/discoloration, but watching from some distance eg. sofa, you cannot spot the difference. Thank you
which Pin did you put tape on ?
@@Roched0 in this video, he tapes 3 shorted pins, but in my case, you need to go 2 pins away from these 3 shorted pins with thin trace and the third pin has thicker trace and that was it
Thank you very much, great explanation! Your video helped me to fix my tv!
Thank you very much for this video! Had the same problem and got it fixed with this! 💪
the short on mine was in a ESR protector diode on the LCD Driver board far left side (look for the one that is getting very hot relative to everything else) its removal completly restored the function of a QN65Q60DRAF that was stuck in boot loop with both LVDS cables inserted.
You saved our day with that simple solution.
But it may have brought a new issue. The screen is splitted from left very green and right very red. The settings to solve that disbalance isn't helping well.
So i hope it fmwill be fixed by readjusting the tape.
Edit: there're also stripes (4 in total) from left to ride. Hopefully fixable via readjusting
Dear Sir, a tape. Applause to that idea!❤🎉❤🎉
Thank you!
This video saved my tv

My TV is the same with the exact problem and was fixed with the exact the method. You see some faint lines but only if you fixed or looking for them. Thanks for sharing dude.
Is your TV still working?
@@mustafae.6719 yes absolutely this DOES work…the pins you have to find which ones it is, mine was abit more centred in comparison to the video, but it worked indeed.
@@mattym6749 For me, it was the ones from the video and it worked right away. Did you use a normal adhesive tape?
Tried this and it kinda worked, have picture and sound but have a purple tint on 1/2 the screen… better than nothing though 😃💪🏼
Thnx so much, this fixed my TV👌
I just fixed my 3 years old Samsung UE50TU8072U. Thank you so much!!!
What lines did you tape and watch side?
I have a 82 inch hdr LED tv boots constantly but black screen. I remove single flat cable Mainboard and seems to boot with black screen. Like your video I have a couple connectors to the right and left . Do I just play with the one closest to main panel cable? How many pins do I cover at a time ?
Thank you so much! This helped a lot and saved me several hundred euros
@Newsons Electronics are you sure this TV has not a tcon? I believe it is either with the main board or the panel. Why I am asking is after I followed your video my TV is giving very bright/white image and very low colour. Any suggestion is much appreciated :)
Holy crap, it worked! Thanks for saving me $600
How do you know where to start with the tape and how many of the pins to cover to start with?
Thanks, now my TV is good
Good job my friend

Great process of elimination. I ran into this issue with a samsung TV as well..
Its worked with QE50Q64TAU, thank a lot Sir 😁😎
Was it on the right side u taped or the left side. And how many lines did u cover
This technique just fixed my samsung 50 inch UN50TU8000F !!!!
It took some time figuring out which pins to tape and how many at a time to tape, but for the cost of how much tape I used this fix is amazing, thank you so much Mr. @newsonselectronics without this I would have added another tv to the e-waste pile and spent more money.
Hey, I have the same tv as you. Was yours turning on and off every 10 seconds or so? Hoping to give this a try.
@@natashavani9588 mine wouldn't even stay on for 10 seconds, it would turn itself on and off within 2 seconds to where I couldn't even see the samsung logo appear or hear the sound when it first turns on. I diagnosed mine just like the video and it ended up working for me, I used the blue painters tape to cover the pins. Mine took alot more pins to cover than in this video though. I had to cover like 5 or 6 of them with a fairly wide piece of tape. It's really time consuming but for the price of a piece of tape it's worth saving your tv.
@@BlastHands did you get no picture when you covered some pins because I'm getting that.

Very good Job !!!
Through the process of elimination (it takes awhile) you can determine the exact pin or pins causing an issue and carefully cut them out with a stanley knife. This approach resulted in retaining better picture quality compared to taping over multiple pins.
Thank you very much !!!!!
Big thanks bro my daughter is very happy she can watch her cartoons again!❤❤❤❤

Same reboot problem with the European equivalent model QE58Q60. With the left hand pin taped (as per the videos thumbnail view of the ribbon cable) the reboot problem is fixed but then only sound and still no picture. Could this signify a second fault perhaps on the main board?
