Fire Alarm Test #57

- Опубліковано 19 жов 2018
- Full test of a small 4001 system in a church building. Yes i'm aware the notification devices are mounted on the ceiling and not listed for that purpose. This is customer preference and they work perfectly fine given the setting.

Ceiling or wall mount doesn't matter much at all with incandescent light plates, since you don't really have flash distribution to worry about.
The fire lettering isn't oriented correctly.
@@ShaunPuzon Doesn't matter
It sort of does. The fire lettering isn’t oriented correctly. So…ya…kinda does!
@@alexandersalarms5380 Why does fire lettering exist if it doesn’t matter, you stupid fuck?
@@IHeartAGMyou’ll know it’s a fire alarm when it’s red and has a strobe light. activated or not people will be able to tell what it is from a distance. especially if it goes off.

The alarms on the roof seemed rather intresting... But they were rocking that march time. Including for those types of alarms, I wouldn't of expected to see that around in youtube or real life. But, otherwise it's a pretty good system. I like.
, why am I love you
Fun fact: We have these at my school, all fully-functional. Never knew they were rare.

I've been really getting into old and vintage fire alarms lately. Nice footage!!
Got a 9838 and a 4251-20 and also I have a 2901 9806 on hold so I'm getting that soon
@FordTaurusfan 2019 I know that this is a late reply but within the last month I took possession of a 9219.

"HAHAHA" got me roiling on the floor
There's a church in my city that also has a Simplex 4001 system from the 80s, but the alarms are 2901-9806 horns on the strobe version of those 2903 plates, sounding in Continuous.
The strobe model is a 2903-9101
Oh their poor ears
Ugh continuous
Great video 😀👍👍
Love the old Simplex !
How come those alarms are improperly mounted, and not changed?
Evan Bart 410 There used to be no code for it p
And I don’t think there is still, these older devices work just fine notifying on the ceiling, so the inspectors don’t care.
@Evan Bart 410 because
Cause. Inspectors and contractors don’t care about nothing. Hell, they even installed a pull station on the ceiling, and a horn/strobe at shoulder level once. They’re supposed to mount them where they are, cuz the “FIRE” lettering ain’t oriented properly, but they just wanna get it over with and go home… 😒
Great video! I love those on March time!
Are you a firefighter
@@trishsaunders2429 .
Does it matter if they r mounted on the wall or ceiling they get ur attention either way
Didn't Simplex make 2903 lenses with vertical fire lettering, or were those exclusive to the 2904 remote visuals?
Craig Baker Yes. I have a 2904-9101 with said lettering, but I have a 2903-9101 that came NIB with instructions and according to the instruction sheet, the ceiling lenses were an option but had to be specifically ordered. Hence why we don’t see ceiling mount older Simplex visuals with correct lettering often, although ceiling mounted older Simplex devices aren’t that common, but I’ve seen an older LifeAlarm system in a building in Cleveland with them before. That was three years ago and I’ve never been back in that building so I have no idea if the system has since been upgraded; they oddly had wall mounted LifeAlarm speakers on 4903-9101 strobe plates and those rare beige ceiling mount LifeAlarm speakers. They also oddly enough had ceiling mount 4904 remote lights (some were Strobes and others were lights, even more odd).
When I was in fifth grade, my school had fire alarms that sounded like these ones. Memories. They kind of sound like fire truck horns in a way.
*the best strobe award goes to:*
I don't mean to bother you about the placement of the alarms, but were they always like that? Or were they moved to the ceiling? I'd imagine they were moved to the ceiling, as if those are in their original place then simplex would have given ceiling mount devices, either that or when the did move the alarms, the code wasn't that strict
😮
Chances are they were always like that
Problems happen when ordering parts for fire alarms so they realize the only spot for a wall unit is the ceiling, and time is money so they can’t wait for a new replacement to come
We got the simplex on the ceiling and set in march time my favorite code and alarm
Those are awesome alarms
I naver seen Thoes alarms on The ceiling thats nice keep up to good work dude

It looks to me like they installed wall-mounted designed alarms on the ceiling and didn't care.

@@hb2702 Yeah
You can still say that
Rarely would you ever see Simplex 9833s with Simplex 2903-9001 light plates 😯. It's an interesting look though! Darn shame though the FWR was involved (FWR doesn't usually sound great with mechanical horns. They actually sound not too bad though in this video 😕)
Great video good sir 😉!
I meant to say "rarely will you ever see Simplex 9833s and Simplex 2903-9001 light plates *on the ceiling* that is". Probably cuz it violates nowadays fire alarm codes 😉
They weren't being powered on FWR but it kinda did sound like it that's odd for a Simplex panel
And as 2903-9101
@@fireandalarm1234 by you saying that "it violates the current fire alarm codes" do you mean because of the light plates on the ceiling, or any ceiling mounted fire alarm in general whether it has a light plate or strobe? I'm asking because the high-school I went to for my freshman year in 2010-11 had alarms that sounded like truealerts but looked like older 4903's but were white on the ceilings of all classrooms and there were white truealerts on the walls in the classrooms and in the halls. This was in the newer freshman wing after a tornado destroyed the original freshman wing in either 2008 or '09. I don't know if fire alarm codes are different by state though.
@@WilmingtonOHProductionsthe Simplex 4001 outputs FWR.
Wow very nice simplex system!
That’s not his system it’s just a school and it’s empty with no ppl in it
Don’t see old alarms on the ceiling as often. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t against code when they were first installed which was around the 80s
CoolSimasGuy I don’t see why it would be
CoolSimasGu
That why ceiling units came
CoolSimasGuy Why is it against code now? Just asking (I’m from Canada, so our code might be different, but the ones at my school are wall mounted strobe/buzzer units)
@@rieon-plumbingfan Because people may not be able to see the strobes if they're deaf. Having them on the wall would be much easier for people to see. However, once time went on, NFPA required newer devices to placed on walls. So therefore, manufacturers began making ceiling units with better strobe candela.
0:16 sounds exactly like my school Alarm
what is that style of fire alarm ?????
Hey. Please help me. At my school. We have a Cheap Telecenter/Rauland Communication system. I used it once to help with a Lockdown Drill. But we pressed a button that was mounted on the wall and the button lit blue. When pressed, the system will activate and Sound a Hi/Lo tone and a message will play after it. But what i found confusing was that the wired phones stated on the Caller Screen, NNHS in Lockdown. Press Details for More info. We only can call inside of the school. Is this normal for a system like this.
I found out that the buttons are from Rauland. They are mounted under Stopper covers and have a sign that says " for emergency Lockdown only
The doors close automatically as well when the system is active.
Don’t have much experience working with an access system of that sort. But what your describing seems in line with what one would expect to happen.
This is my in a note call
Why was it mounted on the ceiling???? Never seen that!
Wish my school had simplex light plates, we have true alerts instead, but it's still cool

Soviet Account Good point
The horns sound like its being powered off of FWR. Do 4001s do this?
DownsLife&Safety Simplex has always used filtered DC, so 4001 panels do not do FWR
That's what I thought. Must be old horns then.
DownsLife&Safety No, the filtering capacitors on the 4001s were not the best and are notorious for dying out after awhile causing the FWR power, similar to certain 2001 panels that output FWR. The design was either improved or they started using a better capacitor with the 4002 and everything afterward.
@@sirenfreak57 Yeah and when the capacitor for the filter on the 2001 dies it sounds terrible and you can see that in one of Newageserveralarm's mini system test videos
Thé 1st one sounds PERFECT but the others idk

Aspect1 Actually it is to be honest XD
Hi how are you going out today and how much does the work for me for the rest of the day and we do because the kids have no money
I think these horns dont like to be ceiling mounted which explains the raspiness, Simplex Guy had the same issues on his old system. Also dust collects at the bottom of every lens which is kinda gross tbh.
I believe the raspiness is because the horns are being run off of FWR. I could be wrong though, it could also be the age of the horns.
Some of the horns do a blast with no rasp so I don't think it's fwr related
Short but sweet. Was the 4001 their original panel?
Most likely
Hahahahah the alarm is laughing
