That Create-A-Wrestler music sounds like it was once part of an unrealeased Sonic game for the Sega Saturn
glad i wasent the only one who noticed that. you could here a lot of similarities
to datona usa,house of the dead 2 and virtua fighter 2 in there as well.
This game isn't terrible and a decent start to the now critically acclaimed WWE Gamecube games.
Eddie Guerrero was fired at that time.....he didnt return until April 2002
LORD DOJA If I recall correctly, he went on to wrestle in the independent circuit and the debuting Ring of Honor after he was released from the WWE.

Scott Hall is also my favorite wrestler of all time. The best IC champ in all WWF history as Razor. A profoundly talented wrestler forever haunted by personal demons he couldn't overcome. Such a shame.

The bad thing in the royal rumble match in this game is when you're on the apron the AI usually gangs up on you.

My first ever wrestling game. Probably not great now but I get a great deal of nostalgia from it.
There was no going back after upgrading from this to HCTP however.
This game doesn’t get enough love. It paved the way to the DOR series. It’s the equivalent of No Mercy’s World Tour.
How did they not get the rights for the NWO theme for this Game, but was able to get it for Smackdown Shut your mouth 4 month later
Eric Bischoff owns the nWo music. They used it in TNA when he and hogan were there.

The box has the WWE logo but inside the game it uses the WWF logo and stages huh?

This game had awesome multiplayer. if you were lucky enough to play this game with 3 other friends then you know what im talking about.

I love these Classic WWE games WrestleMania X8 was so much fun two play and hey it was better than Raw on Xbox but SD!Shut your mouth was my favorite great time to be a wrestling fan and a video game fan like you said there are features in these titles that I wish we could have on a next gen console maybe one of these days they will bring back the good stuff.
So was myne. I luv and respect how just bring it allowed fans to actually fight in the crowds for the first time ever. The second time was I believe in svr '07 one of my favorites as well (probably because I currently have).

Oddly enough, I think if the nWo actually debuted with that music I'm sure it'd still be iconic.
Eddie Guerrero wasn't in the game because he wasn't with the company at the time of development, as it was released in early June 2002, a few weeks after his return. Also, the WWE don't own the nWo theme. It's a stock production theme which they pay a fee to license any time they use it.
My timeline may be off but I believe Eddie isn’t in this game due to being only recently rehired at the time by wwe after his stint in ROH. Probably didn’t have the time to scan or build his character model.
One thing I used to hate about this game was how in triple threat or fatal four way matches it always seemed like the A.I."s would gang up on you. May as well been doing a 3 on 1 handicap match. Similar to how you said the Cage Matches you can't get the opponent down long enough, in those types of matches I could never shake off my opponents long enough to get a pin.
Same thing happens in DOR2 as well.
I actually bought this game back in 2012 because of Scott Hall. I never imagined seeing him back in a WWE game, that's why I was surprised when he was in WWE 2K14.
I miss the Game Cube WWE games SO badly!!!!
i know. the wii had all those watered down smackdown vs raw/wwe games. wii u got nothing and the switch only got that really horrible wwe 2k18 that was unplayable because it ran so slow. nintendo owners got shafted bad
i really liked the Hell In A Cell in this because you didn't need to be standing on a specific panel in the center. You could do it anywhere above the ring. That little feature made it feel much more realistic
Why was DDP not in the base roster when he was literally the European champion on WM X8 and even retained the title on that PPV?
He was supposed to be in the game along with some other wrestlers, but got cut due to time constraints. 😞
@@NikateeN they replaced him and possibly billy and chuck with the NWO.
I love this game. For a 1st attempt on the GameCube I thought it was pretty good for what it was worth. WM XIX was an improvement. But DoR 1 & 2 are the best. The 2 DoR games tie (imo). I think I like the 1st DoR a bit more
I loved the fact that you could smack people in the middle of a move, it was awesome hairgrabbing someone and smacking everyone in the ring with a flying man you've grabed by the hair.
I don't watch wrestling or care about wrestling games but I enjoy your reviews on them regardless. great stuff can't wait to see more from you

@@NikateeN I already got Day of Reckoning on GameCube I want to get a PlayStation 2 wrestling game that's a lot like the N64 titles I was either thinking Here Comes the Pain or svr 07 which one would do you recommend
When I was a kid I wanted to play this game so darn bad. I never got the chance to and now I have no ambition to do so…but this is a great review.
Not only was the nWo theme missing, so was Booker T's in this game, but both were in Smackdown! Shut Your Mouth for the PS2 that year.
This game had the WWF logos in-game, but the cover of the game had the new WWE logo. This game came out at the time WWE lost to the World Wildlife Fund and had to switch from WWF to WWE. I assume this was okay if stuff like video games and DVDs were already made before release when the court ruling went down.
There is a cover that says “World Wrestling Federation” on it. I’m curious if that was released

This game is fun I like it and they predicted Benoit world title win
music starting at 0:35 .... spent a moment trying to recall where I heard that then it hit me... Psicosis WCW entrance music. Not heard that in years wow brings back memories. (and before some smartypants tells me I spelled psychosis wrong, that is how the wrestler spelled it himself, though it was often anglicised)
A lot of the names you listed weren’t around at the time this game was made. Eddie didn’t come back until later in the year for instance

This was a weird game overall. It was cool to have RVD, nWo and whatnot; but now looking in hindsight it was a weird cross between AKI developed games and Jukes or whoever made the Smackdown games on playstation.
At 2:25, SmackDown, “Shut Your Mouth” which came out a few months after this game did had the nWo theme.

I still hate those jittery animations and awkward looking transitions between animations. I also (to this day) hate the way Yuke’s handle top rope moves. You can spam them too easily.
I rented this game back in the day. When I hit a five star frog splash on a standing Kevin Nash for the pin, I realized I wasn’t gonna have much more fun than I’d (not) been having.
Also Stacy was the hidden female character, Stephanie was already unlocked at the start.
I also still love WWE Road To WrestleMania X8 (GBA) I'm using my GameCube's Gameboy Player

This was the last wrestling game I tried to get into. I found it disapointing that it was not as good as the wrestling games on N64. So many steps back from No Mercy, I just said fuck it.
A + Y to irish whip is the same in Day of Reckoning and Day of Reckoning 2. I bet you enjoy DoR (2) even though of the Irish whip with A+Y huh?

The reason I sold my GameCube for a ps2 was because of how much better(in my opinion) wrestling games were on it as opposed to the GameCube. I thought Smackdown was so much better than this game.
The 3 that came after this game were great I'd put Day Of Reckoning over SVR 05 but I'd put SVR 06 over DOR2
Who? I don’t believe I played the Day of Reckoning games. I have yet to play SVR 2006 unfortunately. My two best wrestling games I have are WWF No Mercy and WWE 2k14. I think I’ll pick SVR 2006 up if I come across it in a pawn shop or something
@@cfrank777 I was a PS2 kid myself I never played the GCN ones until I got them on a emulator SVR 06 and 07 are probably the best in the series but the DOR games have a great story mode that continues in the 2nd game. Wrestlemania 19 for GC was a huge improvement over this one.

Why would an opponent climb up a cell? How are they a moron for not wanting to climb up a 15 foot structure to possibly be thrown off or through it? It's actually smart not to follow you up the cell in my opinion.
