Hello, I had a lot of tech issues today that made this a pain to finish, My phone, my computer, my internet, my life. Glad it's finished and hope yall enjoy. Ps. I've been looking for ways to stop using peoples artwork from my videos, as much as the art is obviously lovely to look at, it's not my own. So I have these weird circle things that I call "Frames". Might test out some different designs or something but I think they look cute lol, let me know. Love you.
I hope those issues get better, your phone, your computer, your internet, your life. I really enjoyed this. Thank you for continuing to work hard. Your videos always help me get away and relax from my tiring reality. ♡
I'm glad we got a happy ending. I've seen too many endings that kill everyone left and right for the shock value and frankly ? Ken suffered enough, let the poor boy raise his kids and live happily with his wife.
Nah, it shouldve been a tragic ending. Otherwise, it kinda leaves the quote “If you were to write a story with me in the lead role, it would certainly be... a tragedy.” somewhat empty and meaningless. There is nothing wrong with a sad ending or endings that kill everyone as long as they're realistic and have good writing (cough cough death note)
I am so disappointed that fans are twisting Ishida's words to fit their tragedy-loving narrative. Ishida himself admitted that middle part of the story - the parts that are most praised - made him miserable and he planned to 'wreck' the ending and then run away/disappear. This is the LAST thing one would call his original ending or something he wanted. It was him wanting to destroy his story. Then he admitted to getting his passion back in last part and deciding on the ending that would make HIM happy, which results in what HE wanted, what we got is what HE wanted, the true ending - and I couldn't be happier! It was a most appropriate ending. Ever since :Re began I knew it would have a happy or bittersweet ending. I expected it to have that ending and another tragic ending would make no sense, much less the one that would wreck the series. Never have I expected certain main characters to die, despite some calling their dead literally every week (ahem) for no reason, because that would make no sense with their overarching character arcs. I'm so very glad we got this ending, even more glad knowing this is what Ishida wanted and what made him content. P.S. Juuzou vs Kaneki fight getting skipped was the single most genius decision and the one that got biggest reaction from me. There is nothing Ishida could draw during that fight that would have a bigger emotional impact than what we got together with following chapters of Kaneki's shocked reaction and instrospection. Some of my favorite chapters ever.
I torally agree. Eveb before the dragon arc I could always pick up on themes of wanting to be happy. Dispite the world being broken and hope being nonexistent, finding goodness amidst the nihilism was a very potent message for me. I think if Kaneki were to destroy his own happiness at the end, that would absolutely contradict the point of his fight with Arima. Seeing him decide to pursue life and happiness but stumbling along the way but inevitably finding sonething to hold close was beautiful and I'm happy Ishida-sensei ended on that. It got a bit rough, I will admit, in terms of pacing and fight-flashback syndrome was at its highest, but in the end I was satisfied with what we got after following the story for so long.
It was still a bad ending. Amon was proven right, in part one he said ghouls were warping the world and part 2 proved him right with the revelation of the Washuu being ghouls. The bad guys were right/won, Donato opened up ghoul research which ironically saved Shirazu's sister. Furuta plan for super peace also turned out to be right. and came true. On the flip side Kaneki failed, his goal was to bridge the gap between the species through mutual understanding and talking it out, what brought them together was a common enemy and probably the fact humans got turned into ghouls. A lot of things didn't make sense in the end but he most egregious was Kaneki's survival. It was strongly hinted that Ayato was coming down with ROS and how the hell could he have found Kaneki alone in all the chaos after just fighting himself.
Just because it’s what the author wants doesn’t mean it’s the true ending, cuz for one, humans and ghouls can never co-exist. Just Seeing the ghouls and humans sit on the same table made me cringe. This is literally like a predator co-existing with its prey, it’s doesn’t work like that.
@@aliyoussef8201 Author is the one who writes the story and the only one who decides what is the true ending. You not finding it believable, thinking it cringy, or not liking it has no bearing on this.
I feel bad for Ishida. In all of his interviews he just seems so.. Sad.. Complicated, self loathing. He struggled so much with making this wonderful story and at the ending he began to be so unsure of what he was doing and all that. I apologize I'm bad with saying this kinda stuff I just wanted to say this stuff.. Honestly I'm glad we got a happy ending even if it kinda began to go all over the place. Though I honestly kinda wish he could just get the ending he wanted but it was so much more complicated due to well.. All that stuff. I'm rambling now. Just wanted to say some stuff even if it makes no sense
As old as this comment is, I think that most people connected and related to the story being told. Ultimately, that is what matters. There were times when I could see everything being rushed and it ruined any chance of immersion, but I don't think it detracts that much in the long run. It's like the star wars prequels, I might struggle to rewatch them due to the amount of things to overlook, but I have always appreciated the story being told. If you want a story that goes down for the ages, truly becomes a classic, then that might have been lost. However, I never got the feeling that's what he aimed for, so I think it's quite alright.
It's heartbreaking that Ishida could not fully realise his ideal ending for Tokyo Ghoul. Even if it brought nothing but pain to the readers. Perhaps with his next work he will not make the same mistakes as Tokyo Ghoul. (I am unsure if Ishida is creating a new piece, the source may not have been reliable but it's rumoured he is. Confirmation needed)
Same. The one thing that always twists my heart more than any train wreck ending is the fact that the author doesn't end the story the way he/she wants to. I would have accepted any ending Ishida was content with because at least I know that he finds meaning in it. I just hope that he doesn't feel miserable about the series any more.
Knowing how Ishida could have ended Tokyo ghoul re gives me some serious chills down my spine... Everyone dying would have been really traumatic... Especially Touka being pregnant and all. I'm kinda half & half now on which ending I would have prefer.
Metsuryu Ogi Kai Yeah. I mean the ending was a bit of a copout tbf, SPOILERS COMING Shinohara survives. Fine. Kuroiwa survives. No. No way in hell he survives that. Also Steroid Luigi becoming a monk... No...
I'm ok with the happy ending. The everyone dying ending would have been boring to me, because I see alot of kill the main cast alot now a days. And no I'm not depressed about it ending, ken has been through so much shit just too die with everyone, yeah Tokyo ghoul would have been forgotten by me.
Damn dude, chibi reviews should see this. There are characters that sometimes must stand at the chopping block even if we love those characters, that’s just reality at the end of the day.
You know it might not be a popular opinion but I liked the happy ending .train wreck’ endings without much thought put behind them can fuck up a story if not done right, shall I remind you of the akame ha kill anime ending ?
*Tbh I would've been fine with a train wreck ending if it did happen I mean yeah it would've been a bit sad to see our favorite characters die left & right but at least Ishida would've written the original ending he had planned out*
Non-popular opnion here.To be honest I prefer A LOT more the actual final. It's weird but it makes much more sense and is much more realistic. There is a perfect parallel between the fight Renji /Uta and Kaneki /Furuta, white king and black king, hope/melancholy, pulsion/desire. Tokyo ghoul is the Hyperion of our time, the perfect german idealist fairy tail. The dash and shifts, the not-fitting parts, parts of no parts, are the representations of the encouter of the men with the lost of lost. The shift melancholy->hope is not a matter of knowledge, and cannot be expressed in words or images directly. To me the real ending is much more a train wreck as Ishida said. When Kaneky says that "everything was necessary", it contradicts what Renji says to Uta. The meaning of the ending is the opposite, because when Kaneki kills Ryze, he is destroying the Great Other (after all, who "is" Kaneki gravitates around Ryze's image, always appearing in his hallucinations) that sustains the chain of signifiers of the impasses of Kaneki's unconscious. The blood of the draining dragon is this chain of signifiers being destroyed. Hence, the great symbol/meaning/necessity is being destroyed. Everything was contingent, but this insight is the only way to prepare the spirit to a new mode of life. Kaneki really understand Furuta when he says that he just wanted a normal life. He didn't even try to invoke some reason or destiny. In a nutshell, there was no happy ending if by happy ending we mean some real positive content that can be represented(of course, they are alive, but the brutal and traumatic past of them is still there, death would be a good destiny after all), but a encounter of Kaneki with an openness to a new way of living that can only be sensed in first person. It's the perfect picture of the cure to depression, the historical revolutions, the emancipation of the opressed, the truth behind the mistery of the consciousness of itself. That's my understanding. If Ishida had killed everyone, it would be completely artificial and non-sense. That would be the real happy ending. Truth can only be told by fiction.
That one dislike is from the ccg... I'm sad that it's over when I just got started. But again, I'm so happy I found Tokyo Ghoul. And because of my misadventures in finding and listening to all the music, it brought me here to you Dres! Thanks for making me smile today
So for everyone it's a good ending only if everybody die ? It's convenient, you just have to kill all your characters to do a great tragic ending ! Am I the only one who like the ending we have ? I think it has a lot of interesting things in it, more than it is said...
Yea I don't think a better ending Would be simply killing off characters I find that not tg because lots of characters never died in the first place the tragedy of tg wasn't death but the physiological destruction of kaneki and everyone's struggle for a world that seemed impossible tg becoming more hopeful over time isn't bad writing it's natural progression if it was just gonna be sad all the way through and the characters struggle only to fail anyway then what's the point ? What's the message your trying to give ? The problem wasn't that tgre ended happy the problem is how we got there
I'll be honest I'm worried for Ishida Ishida did so much for us, they deserve to take a long long long break, hell I don't care how long it is I hope they're getting better, not because I want them to came back to make more but because they deserve to get better Sui Ishida thank you so much for creating a masterpiece, you have no idea how much this helps people, I want you to know I'm sorry on how much stress or worse you've been through The ending is satisfying and i don't care it's rushed it is satisfying and left a positive feeling in my heart knowing everyone lived
i think the happy ending, while rushed felt earned, kanekis story deserved a happy ending because going out with everyone dead would have been edgy for the sake of being edgy sake, it would mean nothing
I would have been happy with a train wreck ending. My biggest problem is the anime. It just makes me mad to see how terribly the anime represented this masterpiece
Part of me wishes he would have gone with his first instinct with the train wreck ending, because then it would’ve fit the story better. I really did feel the ending was kinda rushed and odd. But can you imagine how much that would’ve h u r t... if he really went in those directions he was intending to. Kaneki killing Touka and his unborn child. Holy shit.
i think the happy ending is lovely for ishida. he said he was feeling like he wanted to end it quickly and train wreck it at one point, and yeah, he coulda done that by killing everyone. but everything sufferents here said about the last arc not fitting, the happy ending *is* a train wreck, and even better, it's something ishida wanting. a bit of lovely revenge. in the other interview, there's a part where ishida talks about trying to do it all alone before realizing it's "not cool to struggle and fight alone" or smth like that and I just think that little line is so so relevant to Tokyo ghoul. bc it's so often held up as one of the pinnacles of "edgy" but when you really look into it (looking at you, kaneki, when rize told you being a tragic hero isn't cool) it's kind of unconsciously about... not thinking edgy is cool?
Tokyo Ghoul is not a simple Manga anymore, it is ART. Even the beautiful aquarell drawings are PURE ART. Other anime/manga simply don't have this art this magic. No matter if its jujutsu kaisen BNHA or even one piece; they all don't give me same feeling tokyo ghoul gives me. Because Tokyo Ghoul ain't a simple hero story, it's an artwork, a masterpiece, and a tragedy, like many masterpieces like Hamlet. Tokyo Ghoul is uncomparable to 0815 shonen. Tokyo Ghoul is it's own league in our modern era of manga.
I think the reason why the Ken vs Suzuya fight was skipped was for impact. When I came the page where ken was lying on the floor all cut up, I was shocked. I literally kept hitting the back button to see if I skipped a page or two, or if I had opened the wrong manga entirely. Before this chapter I was like, "Fuck kaneki idc if he dies, kill him off ishida" but right after reading this chapter he was my fav character again. Now, I realized that Furuta isn't your average villian, he can actually kill the protag, his wife, his sister, his entire race (ghouls) and still be smiling like an angel. I also started liking Furuta more after this so...... Idk the ending wasn't that bad, I loved it and that's all that matters to me
Ikr that twist hits like a train Personally i think it works because at that point i'm thinking Kaneki's got this,he's in his final form there's no way he's loosing this it wouldn't make narrative sense after his "final powerup" Then BAM SUBVERSION
With it originally meant to end in December, I think Kaneki’s transformation into a dragon was never gonna happen and the chapter after he got all his limbs cut off would have wrapped up his and all the other characters deaths. When reading it that part really did feel like an ending, albeit a dark one. Especially when it had ‘game over’ plastered across the final page. I’m quite glad it didn’t end there to be honest, I like what we got.
I think it’ll be neat if Ishida makes short little comics (like what was at the end of each manga) showing day to day life with Ishika and her parents along with the other characters. Although I’m accepting of the series being done with
I think i preffer the happy ending , because i would cry so hard if kaneki died... but at the same time o think a desaster ending would fit better in the tokyo ghoul story....
Honestly I am disappointed with the Dragon arc. But I am glad that he didn't have a super dark, and sad ending where everyone dies or something. To me TG is all about trauma and dealing with it. And for it to end in death would be Incredibly sad.
It’s good to see how beautifully made this story was. Of course the ending was a little rushed but the overall story was amazing. All of us being disappointed in reality shows how high the bar was set in the first two seasons. From the Jason fight to the so called death of Hide, really brought out the emotion of us all. Probably one of the top three anime’s I have ever watched. I am glad this channel is centered around it.
Man It's been five years but I was reminded of this cos someone responded to an old reply of mine that was posted when this came out and I still feel the same way about Tokyo Ghoul. It's still absolutely life changing
when tokyo ghoul end i thought and feel like something that is over now and it will never come again and a sad feeling of something is gone .i fell can you stay for more time just some.
I remember watching you when i was 16 , damn finding this channel and listening to this voice again made me cry. Who you are and your thoughts on anime shaped me as a person so thank you
I think the ending was great. Kaneki especially deserved that ending after all he went through and it also completed the gold he wanted for humans and ghouls to coexist. A tragic ending definitely would have ruined the story for me personally.
I rarely comment on any videos but I wanted to comment on this one. And also thank you for your videos. I just stumbled upon this one, seeking answers for thinks I wasn't quite clear on, having just finished the anime. I just recently watched the TG series. I generally wouldn't have time to watch one season of anything, let alone three to four seasons of an anime. But, the social distancing thing has allowed me to do many things I had planned for many weekends to come. The first season, I was broken and by the end of the first episode of season two, I had fallen irrefutably, desperately and unequivocally in love with Ken Kaneki. With that said, I was rooting for him, the new him, the unbalanced him. There is always something about a quiet boy, who loses his shit and becomes a monster. Something can also be said about when he learns to control both parts of him, all parts of him. All that to say, if the ending wouldn't have ended with him happy. I probably would hate the series 100% and would have abandoned it completely--I've done it before. Sorry for my long winded statement. I don't generally watch horror or psychological anime, shamelessly I admit, I'm a romance/shoujo kind of girl, a little bit of drama hear and there and some really cool music, so.... yeah. I don't know where I was going with that. Sorry. Anyway. Thank you again for the videos. I'm a fan ;)
I must say thank you very much for making these videos about Tokyo Ghoul!! I just finish the manga not long ago and I've been feeling empty for quite some times. Luckily I found your channel and listen to your theories while remembering the details. It's great!! Please continue to make more videos about this!!! maybe more theories about side characters. Haha
im glad it ends a happy ending that poor boy got brutally done and has been through a lot. I'm sad its over but i guess that's not in my power to control.
I hope that, sometime in the future, somebody if not Ishida steps up to the plate and rewrites :re. Or at least re-writing some parts of it. Would like to see a more well thought out conclusion
maybe in the fight between kaneki and juuzou something was planned to happen to ensure the death or downfall of kaneki. but since ishida decided to do a happy ending he ended up scrapping it at the last minute
i think the series had a good ending and would be fine if it was just left like that. however the only new work i would like to see from this series is the anime done right. i didn't like that they skipped a bunch of stuff in the anime. be it a movie or just the anime completely re done. i wouldn't complain if there was a new series of tokyo ghoul though
@@Vorticy the series ended amazingly yes, I just want more Tokyo ghoul, all the characters you once loved just disappearing doesn't make you feel good, I don't know how to explain it, i wouldn't mind if they milk tokyo ghoul.
Am i the only one who simply can't even imagine a tragic ending for TG ? I mean, it doesn't even fit with the sotry "aesthetic". It's mellancolic, sad, happy, dark, beautiful, romantic, psychotic, terrifiying, but hopeful, after all
I think the phrase "Tokyo ending" refers to when all the main characters die and everything is left unresolved. It's the opposite of the "Hollywood ending" which is all resolutions and rainbows. I cant find this phrase online anywhere and cant remember where I heard it. Does anyone know where I may have heard this phrase?
I adore trainwreak ending and I think that's what originally made me fall in love with Tokyo Ghoul. I always felt that the final chapter left me a bit hollow. I kind of hope we get a retcon Code Geass R3 style redo of the dragon arc with the train wreck in the future
I was thinking... what if Ishda was intending for Kaneki fate to end in the same way as the Nagaraja? Goat having no other choice but to stop the destruction even if Kaneki dies with it
I love real endings. Not just positive ones. Train wreck ending would have given me closure. I feel like i didnt get that with this story. Which is sad cause I loved this story so much. I'm still upset about it months later. I love ishida and I'll take the ending he gave us, but man I dont have any closure. The ending just felt wrong.
This is exactly how I feel; the ending was nice 'n all, but didn't give me closure. And because it didn't give me closure, it's not particularly memorable. And because the ending's not particularly memorable, the rest of the series suffers in one's recollection.
I would have been shredded if Kaneki had killed Touka and his daughter and then died himself. I think a devastating ending would have been a bigger disappointment to fans than the quick happy ending. For me though... Touka and Kaneki were in the sister/brother friend zone... so the romance was a surprise. I wouldn’t mind a filler anime that explains more about the other characters fates and also... what is Ken Kaneki doing? Back to working as a waiter in the coffee shop? Working for CCG? Did he become an author? A vigilante? All things come to an end... true. But, what really is going on in the end? (Note: I haven’t yet read the manga. I’ve only seen the anime).
I'm guessing that in the original Ending Suzuya vs Kaneki was the final fight Kaneki would die and never turn into Dragon and his whole base would be wiped out ever since the dragon arc, it felt surreal, like it was all Kaneki's dream or imagination as to what would have happen atleast hat is how it felt to me, the whole Dragon arc just felt weird and like a forced happy ending where the main char turns into a godlike being
If I’m being honest I expected a more tragic ending a complete train wreck and was surprised to what I saw but I’m not complaining Enjoyed the video keep up the great work man Edit: I’d love to know how you feel on this but what do you think of ishida working on the ending he at first envisioned I personally can see him later on feeling the urge to write again but as of right now I’m sure he’s enjoying himself but who knows maybe he’s content with where he’s at or deep down wants to see this tragic character have a tragic ending I think it would tie together with the very first time we see kaneki become a ghoul he says his story would be a tragedy I would personally love to see an ova what I’d like scenario from ishida although I’m just glad he’s done and can relax so I’m okay if it never comes
It'd be interesting if Ishida went that route. I can kinda see what would happen if he did. Like you said, Hinami probably would have died. Mutsuki probably would have actually committed suicide, Roma and Shiko would have won and probably continued to follow Furuta, which obviously is a huge problem. It's tragic. Very fitting. A story that is tragic from beginning to end.
Thank u for the hard work. I was happy for the happy ending.. but as it's very obvious... it's so rushed... as if Ishida was forced to get to a certain point with so little time to get there... maybe if he had more time or more patience, he'd fill the many blanks in character development, the science behind dragon and Rize, many important dialogues and actions like (Juzo vs. Kaneki which I'n still mad about to this day) and for the many psychological changes that would have much more effect... I mean there were many characters that were so hyped and had a huge potential to do much more (Hina, Amon, Seido, Eto...) and Mutsuki... what happened to her character is a mess... I think she was just used to increase the madness of the action or maybe to emphasize the development of other characters like Touka and Urie/Saiko... I didn't learn anything from her character at the end, unlike the rest of the characters. But I guess, the ending we had is good.... the happiness at the end wasn't absolute, they sacrificed so much to reach it... and I learned so much from TG... maybe if the ending was a trainwreck... full of pain and despair, we wouldn't get anything out of it... I mean I know it's seinen and it's psychological... but that doesnt mean that a little bit of happiness is overrated or not exciting. Anyway, I wish it was given much more time... it deserves it. 💔😭
very well said. the ending in itself felt incomplete with so many character arcs left unfinished, plot points deserted, etc. i just really wish there was more buildup to the ending - i'm not saying i don't like the ending we got, i just wish there was more leading up to it.
I want to be honest. I like TG more. As a tragedy it was perfect. With :re things just get piling up until until it reached to the point Ishida couldn't handle it and realize it to it's full potential. To me TG is 8.3 and :re is 7.8. I don't want to neglect the importance of :re because without it TG is incomplete but as a sequel it was perfect upto a point and the Dragon Arc on it's own was mediocre as a whole and as a last arc sucked. I understand the reasons. I respect Ishida but I can't ignore the flaws.
I understand, but I disagree with you; I prefer more TG: Re than TG. You are right when you say that TG as a tragedy was perfect, but: Re further extended that tragedy to others, and we could see how everything evolved to the last point. Also, I consider the Dragon Arc as a good arc; since the only error (Mainly) that I see, and that was noticed in the second half of: Re, is that it was rushed, but that has an explanation (Ishida was very ill). If the second half of: re had not been rushed, it would be the best of the whole saga.
@@NUKCYNDv Thanks for understanding. While judging TG I put aside my respect for Ishida and judge it for what it is. What it comes down to at last is personal preferences. I like ending that tie things up very well. Rushing has greatly affected the story. Made it more of a story where the writer kept on adding things until it became something he couldn't handle. We know the reason. I admit it for the time he gave himself he handled it very well. But it doesn't change the fact that it could've been handled pretty well. Even if I look at the things that were done instead of looking at what could've been done there are things which I cannot ignore - 1. Kaiko's age. By a little maths the most Kaiko's age doesn't sit well with what has been established in the story. 2. Kuroiwa being alive even after being confirmed dead. 3. Skipped on Important Fights 4. Poor explanation for the action of some characters. 5. Over use of fake deaths. 6. Ill defined Deusx Machina in terms of Dragon cells. 7. Lack of clarification in general. It is easy to see through how Ishida didn't have a very clear vision on how to resolve Ghoul Human conflict (as he admitted in his previous interveiw). This seeps through in Dragon Arc. Honestly, it would'nt have been much of a problem but making Kaneki OEK meant that it needs to be addressed. We can say it was because it was rushed. Every decision Ishida made in the last arc had some thought behind it but due to this rushing that it wasn't conveyed and made those decisions less believable.
@@yaksh2953 Once again, I understand your point and there are things that I share; For example, I share points 2, 5 and 1 (In fact, I had not realized this last xD), and I also judge a job for what it is, leaving aside external problems. But still, there are some things that I do not agree with: - Point 3: Actually, the only "important" fight that was skipped was that of Kaneki vs. Juuzo, which I remember (and I may be wrong) there was no other. Even so, it is true that it would have been much better if Ishida wrote this fight. - Point 5: Here I am in complete disagreement, all the characters had good developments (it is true that some are better than others and that there were things that could have been done better), this for my criteria. -Point 6: The dragon cells are justified, explained and developed; but the problem is that this was a topic that was rushed (like others), and that hindered its development, even so, for me it is very good. - Point 7: Again, in complete disagreement, there were very good explanations of what was happening (although it is true that they could improve), and only a couple of things were handled very quickly, but this also happened in TG. By the way, and to clarify, Ishida had in mind how to resolve the Ghoul-Human conflict, what was complicated was the development of this, due to his health, his new ideas and the time he had. This is what is referred to in the interview, and it is also explained at the end of the last volume. But you are right that all this was reflected in the Dragon Arc, although I think it was something that had to happen yes or yes, since from the beginning we knew that Kaneki was going to be the OEK, rather, the union between Ghoul. and the humans. As I said, it's true that the Dragon's Arc has several faults because it was rushed due to Ishida's health, I will not deny it, but it's not a big deal, the vast majority of the mangas/novels/series/movies,etc (actually, I think all of them) have a part where things wobble a bit, and for Tokyo Ghoul happened at the end; but, a slip is not a fall, and even with its flaws, I feel that Tokyo Ghoul (The Two Parts) is an incredible manga (One of the best of this decade, I would say), and the last arc does not take away the fact that, for me, TG: Re is better than TG for several reasons (I do not know if you want me to explain them to you) By the way, thanks for maintaining respect at all times, today it is difficult to find nice people with whom you can converse in an appropriate manner. PS: Sorry if there's a mistake in my English, it's not my mother language.
@@NUKCYNDv What I don't understand is - Kaneki is still alive. He is immune to the poison. Why haven't they gotten his help to destroy the core of other dragon structures to get rid of them ? We know that they don't proruve toxins. So, anyone else can also suffice. Where did they obtain dragon cells from ? Was it collected from Rize's dragon structure ? Or is collected from the other ones ? If it is collected from other ones then that must mean they have let it sustain itself kill humans for 6 years. If it was from Rize's dragon structure. No problem. I just wanted an explanation for why they haven't asked Kaneki's help for other structures. By the character developments, I was specifically referring to the last arc. 1. Donato's reasoning for doing fucked up things was lame. 2. Amon's feelings (other than hatred) for Donato weren't properly established to feel the weight of his emotions for him. 3. In Uta's case it was there but a flashback was needed to show how seeing his friends die before him pushed him towards the drakside and led him to join the clowns. 4. Mutsuki said "I don't care." Really. She doesn't care about Touka or the city but she should at least have cared for Kaneki even in that situation. Also the anime did it better than the manga. In the anime, Mutsuki's suicidal nature was due to the feeling of guilt. She felt like she was responsible for the destruction and fucking up the life of Kaneki while in the manga it was more due to self loathing. 5. Eto regenerating her head with her memories intact was too far fetched. 6. Also there was lack of explaination on Sunlight garden and structure of Washu clan and also Hide got his info during the time skip. 7. No details of hints to the Fate of Eto, Furuta and Rize. And these are important characters. 8. Remember when we first found out about Dragon Rize (Furuta sending next to her) and the footnote read "Next Issue - Furuta and Rize" but next chapter had nothing to do with them. But when we meet him again for what it seemed like he was unable to reach dragon Rize during that time Rize distanced herself from those guys. But it wasn't shown how she did that. No probs Dude. @@yaksh2953 I will answer the questions, but if there is an error, do not hesitate to let me know: - Yes, Kaneki is still alive; and that I remember if they reciebron his help, only that this was not seen and showed more his encounter with Furuta and the Dragon Rize (That was also a type of nucleus), since Kaneki refers to his help in the story. And I do not remember well, but I think the problem with these cores were the creatures of the Dragon (I think they were called Bastard Children), and they did contain toxins. -The Dragon cells were collected from Rize (And I think also from the Kaneki Dragon) And about the development of characters, you're right in some, this last arc to be hurried made things more obstructed. 1- Yes, I agree, I think that what Ishida wanted to show us was someone completely crazy; and that he had a strong relationship with Amon. But this was not so well executed, although I have to admit that it is understandable and I liked the subject (In fact, his fight is of my favorites); You could have tried a lot better. 2-Again, I agree, as it was hurried the final development of this was clumsy. Still, as I said, I liked how Ishida did it, although it could have been done a hundred times better. 3-Here I give you the reason, but it does not seem a bad thing, since it was one of the few characters that did have a good development in this last stage, that of the flashbacks surely was because Ishida did not have time to expand the topic; but in the same way I really liked the development of Uta, also his fight against Yomo is my favorite too. 4-In this I agree but also disagree. It is true that the final development of Mutsuki was a bad one to my point of view (That she became "good" again), but in reality that "I do not care" was because seriously, she did not care about anything, and I think originally was a character that should die at the end (I would have liked to see that), I also disagree on the fact that the anime made it better than the manga, believe it or not, in both the reasons are the same, only that the anime distorted all this in a bad way, since it did not develop its great trauma with Torso, its feeling of impotence and anger for being a woman and finally and as you say, its aversion, the anime only trates the theme of the guilt; thing that is also in the manga, but is mixed with everything else giving a much more interesting and defined personality, as well as we see a great development (Until she became "good") that in the anime is not shown at all. 5-I disagree with this because in the whole series we were shown that the Ghouls could do that xD So I do not see any problem, it's manga biology. 6 - Actually, if there was a good explanation, but just the necessary, leaving this as one of the many "loose ends" that left the end; and from all these things it is theorized that Ishida may write some spin-off of the franchise. 7- In fact, We know what happened to Rize and Furuta, both are dead. But we do not know what happened to Eto, it's another one of the "loose ends". 8- You are right in that (Although I do not remember that topic very well), and it is very likely that Ishida was referring to the fact that the relationship between the two was going to explained to us later, which happened; Or it was simply a discarded idea because of time. In short, many of the doubts left by this last arc are "loose ends" that Ishida is expected to solve in the future, since the same thing happened with the first manga. Personally, I hope that Ishida writes more of the universe of Tokyo Ghoul, since there is a lot to explore, it would not necessarily have to be a sequel; can be a prequel / spin-off on the original King of One Eye, on the first Dragons and the origin of the ghouls, the history of Arata, the history of the first investigators, The story of Amon and Takizawa that we did not see, more of the history of Yomo, Uta and Arima, the Washuu etc. It could also be a sequel / prequel / spin-off or whatever on the rest of the world, since there are many important things that are mentioned to us in the story that happen outside of Japan, for example, Germany, is a key place for the story and I would like to see more about that; or maybe a sequel to the problems outside Japan for accepting the ghouls, I would also like to see that, because the Tokyo Ghoul universe has a lot to give; the only thing that is finalized is the story of Kaneki (Well, rather the tragic part, we do not know what awaits him in the future).
Although I'm totally fine with this ending, I wouldn't have minded a trainwreck type ending. Tokyo Ghoul featured a dark Tokyo that had wasn't kid friendly at all. You have parents being murdered in front of their kids, ghouls killing and eating out of desperation(and some not against morals). You also had ghouls that acted in predatory ways. I hope Sui Ishida is far from done with mangas, because this is still some of his best work.
I’m hoping that he’ll eventually want to do a part 3 and that possibly it could be with other characters or something happens to Touka or Kaneki’s kids that cause him to become involved again
Personally i'm ok with the final arc even if it wasn't the best written Call me easily pleased but I'll admit i'm a sucker for the "opposing sides come together against a common threat" trope, seeing the Ghouls and CCG together put a smile on my face Plus it was basically Kaneki's vision realised
Of topic but anybody got news about ballroom e Youkoso?it just stopped completely, last i heard the author was unwell but it was supposed to resume april last year, but it didn't,just wondering what's up?

Ps. I've been looking for ways to stop using peoples artwork from my videos, as much as the art is obviously lovely to look at, it's not my own. So I have these weird circle things that I call "Frames". Might test out some different designs or something but I think they look cute lol, let me know.
Love you.

I've seen too many endings that kill everyone left and right for the shock value and frankly ?
Ken suffered enough, let the poor boy raise his kids and live happily with his wife.
You're right. He suffered a lot in his life. I am happy he is in peace after all of this.
He earned it for sure. Ken suffered all along. And even with this happy ending, he still struggles inside if the world is better or not
@@living_legacy_7 Yeah
Nah, it shouldve been a tragic ending. Otherwise, it kinda leaves the quote “If you were to write a story with me in the lead role, it would certainly be... a tragedy.”
somewhat empty and meaningless.
There is nothing wrong with a sad ending or endings that kill everyone as long as they're realistic and have good writing (cough cough death note)
Xavier Renegade Angel a tragedy doesn’t have to kill everyone it can have a good ending
The "it's a beautiful day", ending and how people were shown at the end made me happy. And what happened in the dragon arc was awesome.
I personally prefer the happy ending, but it was definitely rushed.
I want more :(
Life doesn't have a happy ending
Yeah I think they didn't even give an explanation of what happened with Uta and other characters. They only showed a small moment of the ending ☹️
The Touka forced romance episode made me cringe beyond belief because of how forced and rushed it was. Didn't feel natural at all
@@shannon811 how was it forced? Are we gonna forget their moments in the original manga and how much she wanted him back in :Re?
He's most likely going to since he's got to eat lol
He has a new series called Superhuman X:))

I wish Ishida could have done the ending he wanted. Man I love Ishida’s work😰
Same. The one thing that always twists my heart more than any train wreck ending is the fact that the author doesn't end the story the way he/she wants to. I would have accepted any ending Ishida was content with because at least I know that he finds meaning in it. I just hope that he doesn't feel miserable about the series any more.
if he had alot more time and i mean alot they could’ve put out an amazing end, but we just felt like we got our glass half full :(
But in the end he did the ending he wanted to do.
Knowing how Ishida could have ended Tokyo ghoul re gives me some serious chills down my spine... Everyone dying would have been really traumatic... Especially Touka being pregnant and all. I'm kinda half & half now on which ending I would have prefer.

And...he did!
Non-popular opnion here.To be honest I prefer A LOT more the actual final. It's weird but it makes much more sense and is much more realistic. There is a perfect parallel between the fight Renji /Uta and Kaneki /Furuta, white king and black king,
hope/melancholy, pulsion/desire.
The problem wasn't that tgre ended happy the problem is how we got there
I'll be honest
I'm worried for Ishida
Ishida did so much for us, they deserve to take a long long long break, hell I don't care how long it is
I hope they're getting better, not because I want them to came back to make more but because they deserve to get better
Sui Ishida thank you so much for creating a masterpiece, you have no idea how much this helps people, I want you to know I'm sorry on how much stress or worse you've been through
The ending is satisfying and i don't care it's rushed it is satisfying and left a positive feeling in my heart knowing everyone lived
exactly
I completely agree, I do hope there is a reboot though.
i think the happy ending, while rushed felt earned, kanekis story deserved a happy ending because going out with everyone dead would have been edgy for the sake of being edgy sake, it would mean nothing
I would have been happy with a train wreck ending. My biggest problem is the anime. It just makes me mad to see how terribly the anime represented this masterpiece
Even if Tokyo ghoul may never get a continuation it had one of the best songs.
Holy shit.
I prefer not knowing
i think the happy ending is lovely for ishida. he said he was feeling like he wanted to end it quickly and train wreck it at one point, and yeah, he coulda done that by killing everyone. but everything sufferents here said about the last arc not fitting, the happy ending *is* a train wreck, and even better, it's something ishida wanting. a bit of lovely revenge. in the other interview, there's a part where ishida talks about trying to do it all alone before realizing it's "not cool to struggle and fight alone" or smth like that and I just think that little line is so so relevant to Tokyo ghoul. bc it's so often held up as one of the pinnacles of "edgy" but when you really look into it (looking at you, kaneki, when rize told you being a tragic hero isn't cool) it's kind of unconsciously about... not thinking edgy is cool?
The only manga/anime that’s made me feel that same feeling since tg.. has been jjk
Idk the ending wasn't that bad, I loved it and that's all that matters to me
Ikr that twist hits like a train
Personally i think it works because at that point i'm thinking Kaneki's got this,he's in his final form there's no way he's loosing this it wouldn't make narrative sense after his "final powerup"
Then BAM SUBVERSION
Oh fuck I actually forgot that Suzuya and Kaneki had a full on battle. For a solid few minutes I was like "they fought? when?"

I think the ending was great. Kaneki especially deserved that ending after all he went through and it also completed the gold he wanted for humans and ghouls to coexist. A tragic ending definitely would have ruined the story for me personally.

MAN am so happy I got the happy ending Because I would cry if ken kanaki and everyone died.

Damn I don't know i feel like if Touka died it would of hurt a lot I would've like to see a tragic ending
Agreed
Tragic after tragic
Yeah the ending felt like rapidly tying up loose ends
Preach it to the choir
Reading the manga. I’m happy with ending, I feel contempt.
Can u tell me the ending plz!!! I live in another country!!! Its not easy for me to collect the manga and read it.. so if u plz

I'm guessing that in the original Ending Suzuya vs Kaneki was the final fight
Kaneki would die and never turn into Dragon and his whole base would be wiped out
ever since the dragon arc, it felt surreal, like it was all Kaneki's dream or imagination as to what would have happen
atleast hat is how it felt to me, the whole Dragon arc just felt weird and like a forced happy ending where the main char turns into a godlike being
Hey Dres, do you have a link to the art used for kaneki at 5:57? I just really want to see it id appreciate it :)
michaelmyers764 Not directly, it’s done by my friend Mui who sent it to me, check the description for his stuff
I love your videos keep up the good work!
If I’m being honest I expected a more tragic ending a complete train wreck and was surprised to what I saw but I’m not complaining
Enjoyed the video keep up the great work man
Edit: I’d love to know how you feel on this but what do you think of ishida working on the ending he at first envisioned I personally can see him later on feeling the urge to write again but as of right now I’m sure he’s enjoying himself but who knows maybe he’s content with where he’s at or deep down wants to see this tragic character have a tragic ending I think it would tie together with the very first time we see kaneki become a ghoul he says his story would be a tragedy I would personally love to see an ova what I’d like scenario from ishida although I’m just glad he’s done and can relax so I’m okay if it never comes
Well life ain't fair
@@trang9992 Uh, alright? I never said I preferred this route. I just said it was interesting. You're kinda slow.
💔😭
I love the miniature, is it from somewhere in the internet? I'd love to download it
very well said. the ending in itself felt incomplete with so many character arcs left unfinished, plot points deserted, etc. i just really wish there was more buildup to the ending - i'm not saying i don't like the ending we got, i just wish there was more leading up to it.
If tokyo ghoul was given more time, it could of had a ending that fit it all, or that was sadder.
Probably didn’t want to do a train wreck ending since he would have to draw all of the devastion in such a small amount of time
I think it would have been more popular with a tragedy ending rather than a happy ever after and maybe even easier for the anime to adapt to it
It’s just true most people start anime with either dragon ball or Naruto 😂
tokyo ghoul is still my favorite anime/manga but that ending made me feel empty
I love your analytic videos they are amazing
Btw I am 6th
Lmao I am so happy because you liked my comment!!
even tho the scientist made synthetic meat, most ghoul decided to eat it to live normal among humans
but some refuse to eat human meat to stay strong
Great vid as always, i would also would have seen the alternative ending
thank you for the info & yes, i would really prefer the tragedy ending. Just because it would be more authentic and beautiful
Even if I look at the things that were done instead of looking at what could've been done there are things which I cannot ignore -
1. Kaiko's age. By a little maths the most Kaiko's age doesn't sit well with what has been established in the story.
2. Kuroiwa being alive even after being confirmed dead.
3. Skipped on Important Fights
But still, there are some things that I do not agree with:
- Point 3: Actually, the only "important" fight that was skipped was that of Kaneki vs.
As I said, it's true that the Dragon's Arc has several faults because it was rushed due to Ishida's health, I will not deny it, but it's not a big deal, the vast majority of the mangas/novels/series/movies,etc (actually, I think all of them) have a part where things wobble a bit, and for Tokyo Ghoul happened at the end; but, a slip is not a fall, and even with its flaws, I feel that Tokyo Ghoul (The Two Parts) is an incredible manga (One of the best of this decade, I would say), and the last arc does not take away the fact that, for me, TG: Re is better than TG for several reasons (I do not know if you want me to explain them to you)
By the way, thanks for maintaining respect at all times, today it is difficult to find nice people with whom you can converse in an appropriate manner.
English isn't my first language too. 😅
@@yaksh2953 I will answer the questions, but if there is an error, do not hesitate to let me know:
- Yes, Kaneki is still alive; and that I remember if they reciebron his help, only that this was not seen and showed more his encounter with Furuta and the Dragon Rize (That was also a type of nucleus), since Kaneki refers to his help in the story. And I do not remember well, but I think the problem with these cores were the creatures of the Dragon (I think they were called Bastard Children), and they did contain toxins.
-The Dragon cells were collected from Rize (And I think also from the Kaneki Dragon)
And about the development of characters, you're right in some, this last arc to be hurried made things more obstructed.
Quality content👌
so he was going for 206 chapters but got tired. The original ending was supposed to be a tragedy bigger than the last one.
If it is because of his health then yes
But if not, let "fuck it then smoke it"-My Friend
I love ur videos they are so cool!
do a video on jagaaaaan! it’s weird at first to me but 40 chapters in and I love it
Hi anyone know what the beautiful music at 4:38 is?
I’m hoping that he’ll eventually want to do a part 3 and that possibly it could be with other characters or something happens to Touka or Kaneki’s kids that cause him to become involved again
i think ishida was pushed by its publisher by repeating every manga/anime happy ending part.
Personally i'm ok with the final arc even if it wasn't the best written
Call me easily pleased but I'll admit i'm a sucker for the "opposing sides come together against a common threat" trope, seeing the Ghouls and CCG together put a smile on my face
Plus it was basically Kaneki's vision realised
Of topic but anybody got news about ballroom e Youkoso?it just stopped completely, last i heard the author was unwell but it was supposed to resume april last year, but it didn't,just wondering what's up?
I would have been fine with everyone dying but Hide and Kenekis kid and the reason this goes out is malnourishment from eating human food.
Your videos are like bedtime stories for me
Yes finalų someone explained it good. Thanks formos this video. Keep it up 😄🙂
I wich that ichida make a remake but with the manga drawing the speak of manga
Because kaneki in animie day
Ayato ken
But manga : AYATO !
Also in manga kaneki wear his maske
I love your intro btw.
Who feels like having hole in chest? Like, something is missing.
i really hate how I hate that the ending was rushed
