Thanks! I'm not sure if the book was rushed or if it just wasn't shown as much care, but it definitely isn't as well adorned with maps and plates as the others have been. Hopefully the next expansion will be better!
For the Myrmidon Destructors, the conversion beamer is so much better that my plan is to just paint the Volkite in colors that look like the Beamer (blue stripe with vertical dashes). This way they might look like the Beamers from afar.
That's a good solution, too. I really think they could have stood to have both weapons available, and give you an option to shoot one or the other, but not both.
I agree, I think this was a way to get some of the AT players who've been on the fence due to the additional investment also playing LI with possibly no extra purchases or just an Infantry box. Personally I think it was a mistake not to put a Knight / Titan list into the starter box (even as a pamphlet) or as an addendum in The Great Slaughter, but I am glad that they're here now.
@@DavidManser I'm wondering if the titans need a bit of a boost -- the 5+ save they get for void shields in Titandeath might help. Legio/Household rules would be good, also.
Greetings tacticae! interesting observations on the book. I am entirely unsurprised with your thoughts on the knight and titan lists. There is really only one possible outcome, the knights and titans will lose to predominantly infantry lists. Titans cant even take objectives let alone hold them and knights are so fragile that large infantry mobs will just tear them apart (let alone bringing along numbers of tarantulas and/or rapiers). Even if the Titan player maxed out on Warmasters they simply cant do enough damage to prevent a win on points. The game balance in LI as per the rules is utterly terrible. That said the games designers have at least given creative players enough tools to make house rules that should address enough of the egregious imbalances that are prevalent. My gaming buddies and I have several standard adjustments and we are in the process of refining them. Firstly we make objectives only count from the turn onward. This mitigates some of the imbalance in infiltrate, helps reduce the mad idiocy in two or 3 turn games, and makes the play a little more tactical with outflanking and reserve units being able to have some significance in later turns. Next we say that the forces should be 1/3 infantry (and walkers and cav) 1/3 armour (vehicles and aircraft) and 1/3 knights and or titans with about a 10% leeway. What this does is help ensure more balanced games and gives us the excuse to play with models that would never otherwise see play if we had to go "competitive" all the time. Huge wall of text I know its a big topic and I have just touched on it. To sum up I think this game desperately needs a living rulebook maintained by the fan base. (or at least some common tournament packs).
Thanks very much for the detailed comment. I do agree that there are some things about the game that need to be fixed -- but it sounds like you have a like-minded group of people to play with, and that's probably the best solution of all.
Sadly, my copy (along with the mechanicum battleforce I ordered) is delayed, due to GW not supplying the vendor I ordered from with enough battleforces. I agree with you on the blandness of the titans and knights in the game. I'd love for one of Legio Ignatum's rules to be ported over, like "We Loyal Few" or "Eternal Guardian". Even having the maniple special rules would have helped. I still have Titanicus for my titans, but knights are a bit let down in both games.
Ah, that's frustrating -- hopefully your stuff will arrive soon! If Ion Shields were improved, then I think knights would get a big and much needed boost.
Another comment as you asked, on the format of the video, I think your spoken content is great but it does not make use of the video format that well. PowerPoint text is all good and well for boring your work collogues to death (as I like to do because they all hate it so much but I feel like they deserve it). However for you tube content its not great - better as a podcast. Have you watched any other Dark Mechanicum reviews on you tube? Say from Guerilla Miniatures games or Litbashing by Mattie X? They talk a lot but do show additional material to keep their viewers engaged. (I get that you may be leery of showing GW IP at all, but in this video it would have been great if you were even just working on cleaning and assembling your models or something and just pop the speaking notes up for a minute between. Personally I like to work on my models listening to videos like this where the spoken content is great, but forgive me, where the visuals are not so much.
I really appreciate the feedback, and I completely agree -- unfortunately I really don't have a good set up to do any filming like you see on GMG or with Litbashing, and I've been hoping that the battle reports and list reviews will be enough "video" content to make up for the less exciting "powerpoint" videos. The channel seems to be doing all right, though, so I definitely will try to get something put together where I can film some modelling and maybe layer the audio onto that. If you have any other thoughts or feedback I'd love to hear it.
Great overview of the book, the non-existent maps are indeed a bommer! Keep up the content! :)

Super Heavy tanks should have 3 wounds
@@ceridangitp They need something, for sure. I think the best solution would be to give them a 1+ save.

The Knights and Titans list will help grow the game

They absolutely will. I just hope that the people they draw in will not be put off by the performance of their lists.
