Alright everyone! I'll have a new Super Mario World video out in the next few days! I'm currently editing it right now between doing other things! I've read the comments and seen the things you have been mentioning that I should have added! My next video will show those secrets and much more! Stay tuned and subscribe!
Why are you jumping at ua-cam.com/video/YC5C9zXbT2o/v-deo.html to tongue the key with Yoshi? You can just press crosspad up and tongue the key in a standing position. ;) And spewing the key while the animation runs. I guess we all did and do while on Yoshi, On a different note, I am not nearly as good nowadays as I was back then. Found all those secrets without help and finished Star road fully. Ah, the memories. Currently I am even bad at SMM and SMM2. Can't even handle normal mode. >_
Man... I can't believe I discovered all the mentioned exits, when I was a kid. There was no internet. Just by exploring and having fun on the levels. Good old times
Me too. There were a few I forgot about actually but most of them I remember finding when I was a kid as well. There are some of them that aren't completely obvious and I have no idea how I figured it out when I was a kid. I probably wouldn't be able to figure it out now lol.
Yea man, I remember just playing the levels so much I knew the game backwards and forwards. A little rusty now. I remember there was a TV show that came on for 30 minutes on saturday morning that gave secrets for games. I admit I got lucky and they talked about Mario once and I got a couple that way. But the grind before the internet!!!
just finished it yesterday, good game but it felt a bit too easy at times especially when you can carry a back up power up + a yoshi to keep you from dying in a level. Nonetheless I had a lot of fun with the game, using cape mario was really cool! I personally prefer Super Mario Bros 3 to this one but both are great games.
Man the memories, as children we literally put in work hours on all the Mario series without UA-cam. It was just pure knowledge and skill. I kinda miss the 90s

I think I never got past Forest of Illusion. The only thing that saved me was the Star Road through my elementary school childhood friend. Yeesh, I need to replay this. It's been about 25 years at this point.
I wanna highlight the exit at 18:00, which is a very memorable & legendary one for me! I think some of you will appreciate the unique approach my dad and I reverse-engineered way back in the day :) ... We flew around the level and could see the exit existed, but at first we were stumped how to get Mario to fit into the space. For whatever reason, we never realized that the d-pad controlled the shape of the coins (to make a nice staircase for small Mario). Instead, our strategy was to gradually fly around and eventually lure a ghost right to the entrance of the gap! Then, if perfectly timed & positioned, we flew into the ghost, became small, and then could slide in! That's how we solved it :)
I'm "proud" to say I was able to find every exit through... the *many* years I played this game. Great video! Everyone who played this game as a child has that "special memory" about Super Mario World.

Johnathan Patrick Holy Crap. I am also just now learning from here, having watched that clip above that you can slide attack them. What a revelation! I have never been brave enough to get so close as to find out, but I have always wondered, and especially now that we all know you can slide attack the green goo ghost blobbies, but can you also maybe “cape slap” them (y’know, when you don the cap provided by having the flying feather power-up) into submission as well, or is the sole and only functional attack the secret slide bump that took me 24 and a half years to find out about? Oh my god, I just realized that I’m older than I actually thought I was. It actually took me 28 years to find this out; I was about 6 years old when this game came out. I remember my cousin and his mother walking through our Great-Grand Mother door in 1992 with the Super Nintendo.. One of the greatest memories I have.. Super Mario World, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter 2, Contra 3 and Final Fight..
I plugged in my SNES two months ago after so many years and it's still working!! (What a blast!! Went through all Super Mario All Stars) I wonder if the Switch will last for so long... I doubt it
You know, I never knew you could control the direction of the coins... on the final ghost house's secret I would just fly up there against the wall and duck while pushing right. It let's you get under that one block space and you just keep pressing jump and hold right to get through it. Pretty tricky, but manageable lol. It's nice to know there's a much easier(?) way after all this time...
actually in 17:58 you can step on the "P" switch and hit the "?" block that releases the coins and step on the creating platform so you can easily hit the right spot
I had found all of these as a kid. What surprised me was I actually never realized you could control the direction of the coin-snakes. I always thought it was a crap-shoot which direction they would wind up going. Go figure!
Pagan Robot me as well. I’m assuming you’re referring to the area where after you beat it, it changed the entire layout of every level throughout the game.
OMG!!!! Thank you so much!!! During quarantinte I am playing it again after 27 years, only this time with my 6 year old son!! He loves it!! Thanks again for secrets and stay safe, best wishes from Lithuania!
I'm 27. My 5 year old loves playing this game on an emulator with me. He found quite a few of these without my help, even showing me ones I didn't know about! Using this guide we will find all the secrets. Thanks uploader!
Thank you for posting.. I have beaten this game when I was a kid and probably have missed 2 or 3 exits but I never beat the special portion. I shall relive my childhood and have some fun thank you
1:10 Most ghost houses have more than one possible exit. 1:54 Dev Notes: "There is no 'intended' method of getting anywhere in the game, including the secret/multiple level exits; we just gave the player multiple ways to get to them." -from an EGM article, circa 1994 4:10 Donut Secret House has three possible level exits, but only one goes to Star Road. 5:02 *Instantly recalls how there are only three of those blocks in the Kaizo Mario version* lolz 6:40 Again, the easier method, or just one that requires less skill. 8:32 The developer-mercy method. 9:04 lolz I never could do that (grab a shell whilst climbing a vine)... 9:54 I always cape-glided underneath (not an easy thing to pull off but using Yoshi is no easier). 10:24 Yeah, Soda Lake is OOOOOOF, lol 11:20 The Forest of Illusion is all about getting the secondary exits; 80% of the primary exits lead nowhere and/or backtrack instead. However, if you _only_ get the secondary exits and then get the one primary exit that allows one to go to Castle 5, you won't get all 96 exit gates. Yeah, you have to get every exit gate in Forest of Illusion. 11:52 Ah, yes, the ever-so-infamous 'I'm a wall but I'm just there to look pretty' joke, lolololol 13:46 It's the one sure way to connect the ghost house and the first level if ya didn't get the secondary exit in the first level, but, yeah, I agree that it is kinda dumb... 14:34 'A little odd' is a *_massive_* understatement; I've never seen such specific mechanics in any other game I've played, only in fake strategy guides for rumored stuff. 15:18 I still lol at the inability of eight-directional movement (the SNES was capable of sixteen directional movement). 16:48 Shifting Walls... 17:12 I remember losing twenty-two consecutive lives trying to pull this off... hard indeed... 18:20 I would always cape glide into the 'cubby hole' (as I called it), and yes, you can do that but it most certainly is not easy. 20:12 I remember losing lives because sometimes the input lag allowed the game to register me as too far off the bottom of the screen, even though I was mashing the button as if I were playing DOOM, lolz 21:08 That's how I always get the secondary exit in this level is via the cape glide. 23:06 I've made it up there without any palaces cleared. It's not easy, but getting the secondary exit in Cheeze Bridge is harder. Actually, the difficulty comparison is no less than a factor of thirty, lol 23:26 I remember the second Special World level being absolutely ridiculous in difficulty, more so than the others. The one thing I never particularly liked about the Forest of Illusion, was that some of the exits were absolutely redundant.
@@goodegrief I know what you're saying trust me lol. A decent amount of time. She definitely paused the vid each time to type those out because some are more thought out or have more effort than others, and theres not enough time in between some of them for someone who was typing and listening at the same time, without pausing. Shes just trying to act like she didn't pause to type, because she didn't particularly like your comment, because no one really likes that question.
Mario games have never really been very difficult. That is when you rush through a level. They usually get more difficult when you try to do 100%. Aside from the Japanese release of Super Mario Bros 2 Mario games tend to be on the game level of difficulty.
I remember playing this a child and finding these the long way, now as an adult playing on the switch I couldn't do it without this video lol. Thanks man
I can't believe I played this game again and again and again since my youth, yet I JUST discovered the 18:18 exit by accident LAST WEEK. All my life, I thought 95 was the top score you could get. Imagine how seing that star for the first time in 30 years blew my mind...
I played the GBA version of this for hours as a kid and the fact that I still remember every level and every exit shown here tells me how iconic this game was. Also the last secret exit I got was the one in Cheese Bridge to Soda Lake. Took me months to realize I had to jump off a Yoshi to get it.
for me in my childhood i dont know about this but im remember my father show me that and he show me the all secret in this game because this game be my father favorite in the all time i play so much whit him in this game the greatest time ever
@@onlyflyguy Soda Lake was the very last one I ever found. You have to time an incredibly intricate cape jump on one of the bridge levels. I don't think you can even perform that same jump in the GBA version of the game due to a change in physics.
After all these years, you showed me the final secret levels I have been missing! Mainly, Donut Secret House, Top Secret Area, Soda Lake! Thank you! You made staying alive worth it, for now! I love you! Hope you are well!
Thanks for this tutorial! So helpful! After playing this as a child, I’m now playing it with my little one and discovering secret exits has been a lot of fun!
The only shortcut I miss with Soda Lake, I had some friends giving me majority of the secrets since I was 5-6. I can't believe I missed that all these years and I'm 28. Smh lol
I haven't played this game in 25+ years. I vaguely recall the quirky secrets of this game way back when but never tried to find them. This actually answered a few questions I had from when I was a kid seeing the empty red squares because I never did understand their purpose. Also directing the coins with the pad... I remember that used to frustrate me because I'd be trying to jump but couldn't go anywhere because of the dang coins! Anyway, great video! I may just have to break the old Super NES out.
Power ups ok. when it comes to 1-ups, There is a level, where you can farm so many 1-up, it even continues to count if you hit the goal. do that twice and you have max lives.
Many thanks Davers for your hard work on this walkthrough! It feels awesome to finally take a whack at these levels after so many years, lol. Now I’m gonna enjoy stressing my brain out on the Star Road Special levels!😪😁 Thx again!👍🏽
I've got the 96 with a star now, I basically started over. What I think happened was that I may have turned the console off in between a save state and completing certain goals and it was too late to save the progress by the time I completed the game. The last time I got 96 years ago there was no star, it was shown in blue colour. Not sure what that meant to be honest.
If you have 96 with a star next to it, you're playing the USA (NTSC-U) version of the game. If the 96 is blue, you're playing the European (PAL) version.
I've been Mario fan for years, I'm 33 right now, when I was a kid I used to go to my friends house to play a little bit, I couldn't discover all the exits, but I started playing again and I found some of them. This is my favorite game of all time.
For those who are too lazy to activate the switches, you don't need to activate them all to reach the final star - you just need a cape for it. Thanks for this video btw.
I NEVER KNEW THAT ABOUT THE RED DOTS! I remember in computer class, my teacher had the ROM for ALL-STARS/SMW and I would try to beat the game faster and faster each day. 40 minute period, but I had to finish my computer work first.
I just got a Switch for my 7 year old and this is his favorite game by far. We have been exploring together and your videos are extremely helpful! Thank you! We didn’t have this at all when I played as a kid! Keep it up!
Super important tip for the two Star Road levels that involve switch palace blocks! If you are missing any of the required switch palace switches and want to get these two levels out of the way, make sure you grab a blue Yoshi from Star Road 2 and have a cape. Then, eat a koopa (anything but red) and simply fly on Yoshi to the secret destination. This saves loads of time and requires no precise cape flying. The combination of blue Yoshi and the cape allows you to hold down A to fly indefinitely, rather than having to continuously tap A to stay in the air. Remember that Yoshi cannot hold a shell in his mouth forever, and you will occasionally need to land, spit out the shell, and grab it again. This is why a red shell won't work.
My little brother is playing along with this other is very helpful and a way to keep me and my brother busy instead of wondering where it is ... thank you
I think the fastest and easiest way is *_Donut Secret 2,_* where you can fly through the entire level with star power if done correctly. Soon every enemy killed becomes a one-up, including the column of eight or so flyimg koopas at the end.
I thought I was the only one that spits out the key after going in the key hole because of the sound he makes. Biiiiiiii😂😂😂😂 I flew a lot with Mario because of the Cape, though it was so kool. That's how I found a lot of keys, I think there was only two I didn't know about, Bowser one's. Good video dude, just bought a switch and I'm just reliving my childhood
This was so fun to watch and reminisce about one of the best Super Mario games out there! i played this in college in 1991 and kept getting stuck on those levels you showed. And there was no internet back then to go get answers! Unbelievably, Nintendo released a glossy walkthrough guide that explained a lot of the hidden exits. A great find in the Walden’s Bookstore !
Yeah yeah, lots of lovels in that game! Oh, also you seem to not know that Yoshi can use his tongue without his head going down by holding "up" while tapping the "tongue button".
I am in awe. My uncle and cousin managed to discover these exits back in the day. I was just a wee spectator marvelling over how awesome this game was (is). Wait for me. I will you find you all cuz it's my turn noe lol 🙏🏻
I remember all of these in my head and been playing this game for years. This is the first video game so grew up and played. I can get all exits within 3 hours nonstop

I got it in ‘94 when I was 6 on Christmas with snes and my parents had a power rangers game rented from blockbuster for me to try.
I remember my cousin and his mother walking through our Great-Grand Mother door in 1992 with the Super Nintendo.. One of the greatest memories I have.. Super Mario World, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter 2, Contra 3 and Final Fight..
I love replaying these old games from my childhood. I’m 34 now
wow
I plugged in my SNES two months ago after so many years and it's still working!! (What a blast!! Went through all Super Mario All Stars)
I wonder if the Switch will last for so long... I doubt it
Me too. Have mine hooked up at work for break time and lunchtime
Joey Mangini dame but I’ll
Be 35 nov24
Yeah, right now I'm looking up videos of old-school video games on UA-cam right now
I used to play this game with my sister. And I remember it being hard as hell but totally enjoyable while playing it.
Dude nostalgia kicking in I remember finding these secret area back in the day. Good old days ☺️
actually in 17:58 you can step on the "P" switch and hit the "?" block that releases the coins and step on the creating platform so you can easily hit the right spot
I had found all of these as a kid. What surprised me was I actually never realized you could control the direction of the coin-snakes. I always thought it was a crap-shoot which direction they would wind up going. Go figure!
I didn't know they went the direction you looked either I always wondered how to get up there in the the ghosthouse and now I know.
I never realised how much of this game I missed as a kid!
-certainly going to be replaying through this again.
Been playing through this for the first time ever and this guide is flawless. Thank you
Anyone still playing super mario world in 2019
Always. One game that will never get old. Timeless
Tino Carbajal what u playin on
Yes, I play it on the Switch.
I already 100% beat the game.
SMW ROM Hacks, yeah.
Still so freaking proud of myself for finding the top secret area on my own.
Pagan Robot me as well. I’m assuming you’re referring to the area where after you beat it, it changed the entire layout of every level throughout the game.
If I remember correctly, it literally says TOP SECRET.
Yeah sames at 5 years old 😂🇦🇺👌
Thats a core memory for my brothers and I, we were at 95 levels forever and one morning we found this one. Actually jumping up and down, celebrating
OMG!!!! Thank you so much!!! During quarantinte I am playing it again after 27 years, only this time with my 6 year old son!! He loves it!! Thanks again for secrets and stay safe, best wishes from Lithuania!
Shit I remember these secrets being passed down to me from my brother and parents
I shall relive my childhood and have some fun thank you
I Found all these the old fashion way in the 90's
With Nintendo Power?^^
Same my man
@Username 1991 you don't hace to be rich to buy an SNES back then
Yep...us OG's did it the hard way
Same here. Not that hard to find
1:10 Most ghost houses have more than one possible exit.
1:54 Dev Notes: "There is no 'intended' method of getting anywhere in the game, including the secret/multiple level exits; we just gave the player multiple ways to get to them." -from an EGM article, circa 1994
4:10 Donut Secret House has three possible level exits, but only one goes to Star Road.
5:02 *Instantly recalls how there are only three of those blocks in the Kaizo Mario version* lolz
6:40 Again, the easier method, or just one that requires less skill.
8:32 The developer-mercy method.
9:04 lolz I never could do that (grab a shell whilst climbing a vine)...
9:54 I always cape-glided underneath (not an easy thing to pull off but using Yoshi is no easier).
10:24 Yeah, Soda Lake is OOOOOOF, lol
11:20 The Forest of Illusion is all about getting the secondary exits; 80% of the primary exits lead nowhere and/or backtrack instead. However, if you _only_ get the secondary exits and then get the one primary exit that allows one to go to Castle 5, you won't get all 96 exit gates. Yeah, you have to get every exit gate in Forest of Illusion.
11:52 Ah, yes, the ever-so-infamous 'I'm a wall but I'm just there to look pretty' joke, lolololol
13:46 It's the one sure way to connect the ghost house and the first level if ya didn't get the secondary exit in the first level, but, yeah, I agree that it is kinda dumb...
20:12 I remember losing lives because sometimes the input lag allowed the game to register me as too far off the bottom of the screen, even though I was mashing the button as if I were playing DOOM, lolz
21:08 That's how I always get the secondary exit in this level is via the cape glide.
23:06 I've made it up there without any palaces cleared. It's not easy, but getting the secondary exit in Cheeze Bridge is harder. Actually, the difficulty comparison is no less than a factor of thirty, lol
23:26 I remember the second Special World level being absolutely ridiculous in difficulty, more so than the others.
The one thing I never particularly liked about the Forest of Illusion, was that some of the exits were absolutely redundant.
How long did it take to type all that?
@@goodegrief Look at the last time stamp, because I typed these in as the video went along.
@@AmyraCarter wow very interactive 🤘🏽
@@goodegrief I know what you're saying trust me lol. A decent amount of time. She definitely paused the vid each time to type those out because some are more thought out or have more effort than others, and theres not enough time in between some of them for someone who was typing and listening at the same time, without pausing. Shes just trying to act like she didn't pause to type, because she didn't particularly like your comment, because no one really likes that question.
I wish MARIO games kept this quality all the way through the series. All fun but lost the old difficulty and charm.
Have you played The Perfect Run (SMG2) or Champion's Road (SM3dW)?
Well at least boss fights are a bit better, it was the very flaw of the good old SMW.
This helped me find the last 2 secret ghost house exits I needed for all 96 exits. Thanks!
Same!
Finding the secret exits was my favorite part of this game!
Yeah I love doing it too!
Lmao then why are you on a guide
Also love it when Yoshi burps out the key after its in the keyhole
/KEY HOLE + DEEP THROAT YOSHI /
I played the GBA version of this for hours as a kid and the fact that I still remember every level and every exit shown here tells me how iconic this game was.
Also the last secret exit I got was the one in Cheese Bridge to Soda Lake. Took me months to realize I had to jump off a Yoshi to get it.
it's so great to see young gamers enjoying the classics. keep it up!
My favorite secret is when the entire world turns into like a Fall theme once you complete all the STAR Levels.
How u do that?
@@azrealwizard1548 the fall theme?. The way you do that all you need to do is complete all the Special Levels after the Star.
-PARADOX-
But years ago I never beat all of them and still got it..
Is it just me or the fall theme enemy looks scary
Had to get my friend's brother to complete the star Road levels for us so we could explore the game. and then each other
13:43 I KNEW there was one there! that was the one I always miss when playing.
Soda Lake? Never knew of that level.
Soda lake was the very first secret I found when I was a kid.
John Daniel it was hard to get it too sometimes
i always had my mom beat the secret ending to cheese bridge when i was like 6 lol
for me in my childhood i dont know about this but im remember my father show me that and he show me the all secret in this game because this game be my father favorite in the all time i play so much whit him in this game the greatest time ever
@@onlyflyguy Soda Lake was the very last one I ever found. You have to time an incredibly intricate cape jump on one of the bridge levels. I don't think you can even perform that same jump in the GBA version of the game due to a change in physics.
Thank you man, my dream as a kid was to discover every single secret exit of this game, now I finally did it thanks to you
*do not cite the deep magic to me witch i was there when it was written...*
G o o d
Very cool video! I found all the secret exits a long time ago, but I imagine you have helped a lot of people get more out of the game thanks to this.
Youre making me want to play the game again lol. Had lots of fun playing this when i was little.
Hated those levels where you had to duck under the finish bar to get to the keyhole.
After all these years, you showed me the final secret levels I have been missing!
Mainly, Donut Secret House, Top Secret Area, Soda Lake!
Thank you! You made staying alive worth it, for now! I love you! Hope you are well!
Thanks for saving my sanity. My family appreciates that I no longer swear as much
Thanks for this tutorial! So helpful! After playing this as a child, I’m now playing it with my little one and discovering secret exits has been a lot of fun!
I just got this for the 3DS! Thanks!
A year later and now I'm playing it on the Switch👍
The only shortcut I miss with Soda Lake, I had some friends giving me majority of the secrets since I was 5-6. I can't believe I missed that all these years and I'm 28. Smh lol
To be fair, Soda Lake is really hard to unlock
I haven't played this game in 25+ years. I vaguely recall the quirky secrets of this game way back when but never tried to find them. This actually answered a few questions I had from when I was a kid seeing the empty red squares because I never did understand their purpose. Also directing the coins with the pad... I remember that used to frustrate me because I'd be trying to jump but couldn't go anywhere because of the dang coins! Anyway, great video! I may just have to break the old Super NES out.
Crushed this game last night like I was 5 again lol.
Yo, I didn't know u could carry a Koopa Shell while climbing a vine.
The level unlocked from the secret at 5:50 is overpowered since you can keep getting lives and powerups infinitely
Now I’m gonna enjoy stressing my brain out on the Star Road Special levels!😪😁
Thx again!👍🏽
Finally a guide for this game, been stuck on it for ages
I love this, I’ve never seen a commentated compilation video, it adds so much personality
I miss the days when my biggest concern was finding all 96 levels...
Damn I already knew all these secrets, was hoping there was one I didnt know yet.
good video :)
same here
^
For most of my childhood, I thought that getting the 96 exits meant there were 4 more somewhere that nobody I knew could find either.
Wait. That's illegal.
@@Proclifo This was back when the world wasnt full of pansies
I know, I was just doing the meme

Kids these days couldn’t understand the grind in finding these exits
I remember finding a lot of these on accident as a kid.
I just got a Switch for my 7 year old and this is his favorite game by far. We have been exploring together and your videos are extremely helpful! Thank you! We didn’t have this at all when I played as a kid! Keep it up!
Thanks so much for this - now if I could just go back in time to late 1994, I can finally get to that blasted cheese bridge secret exit!
This really brought me back, thank you so much for doing this !
I could cheese some of the swich requiring exits but I never thought the top secret area was real!
I have been playing this game for 30 years and NEVER found the level off cheese bridge 🤦🏾♀️ I FREAKING LOVE YOU!!!!
My little brother is playing along with this other is very helpful and a way to keep me and my brother busy instead of wondering where it is ... thank you
The Donut Ghost House Is Very Useful For Grinding Lives When You Have Access To Infinite Cape Feathers
I think the fastest and easiest way is *_Donut Secret 2,_* where you can fly through the entire level with star power if done correctly. Soon every enemy killed becomes a one-up, including the column of eight or so flyimg koopas at the end.
This video helped pass the time, with my pooping session. Never was any good at getting the secrets. I know what I’m playing now!
Tell me how the poop stretched your hole....😶
Me too! great minds shit alike lol
@@jakejake7566 eww 😝😂
@@beezy_b mmmmmm so you poop while watching too??
@@beezy_b please babe....please describe how it affected your chilli ring mmmmm
I thought I was the only one that spits out the key after going in the key hole because of the sound he makes. Biiiiiiii😂😂😂😂 I flew a lot with Mario because of the Cape, though it was so kool. That's how I found a lot of keys, I think there was only two I didn't know about, Bowser one's. Good video dude, just bought a switch and I'm just reliving my childhood
I'm playing SMB3 on my switch :)
This was a serious flashback and it helped me so much appreciate it bro
I figured all those by myself back when I was a second grader
Yeah yeah, lots of lovels in that game!
Oh, also you seem to not know that Yoshi can use his tongue without his head going down by holding "up" while tapping the "tongue button".
Press "Y" for donkey punch.
I never knew the secret exit in the last ghost house.
Me either! Only one I missed.
I can get all exits within 3 hours nonstop
playing it on my gameboy right now, needed help lol
You missed one! What about the secret exit of the Forest Fortress, flying over the lava pit?
Doesn't count toward the 96
What secret is that?’b
@@awedfzsdvgdxfgh It doesn’t? If you make it across it should bring your total to 97, right?
that feeling finding a secret exit when you're a kid. greatest feeling ever
Just fantastic, I only found 20% of the secrets myself, the rest I couldn’t be bothered or simply never thought of looking 😂. Thanks for your help!
