It can't be understated just how incredible this game was. It was as much of a leap forward as the original Super Mario Bros. was when it came out. Just about as close to perfect as it's possible to get.
This game blew me away graphically when it came out. I remember thinking my NES was obsolete. 🤦♂️
Kids in my 4th grade class would draw Metroid levels on paper...like the final area and see if they could pass it.
Haha, early modding.
I love how I'm STILL learning new secrets from this game all these years later!
Another one of those games that blew me away as a kid. Watching graphics evolve over the years is something now being missed out on.
NGL I think since the ps3 xbox360 Wii Era we've likely reached samey graphics, doesn't help that Sony and MS are basically just consolised PCs, and have Been for the last ten-ish years
Edit: and of course Nintendo being Nintendo and not embracing the power of x86-64 and using RISC things
@@adventureoflinkmk2 i believe you are correct
@@mark6302 it's also funny because these x64 xboxes and Playstations basically have tricked out AMD CPU (APU?) Which I think is more or less the same but running on pcie 2.0 lol
@@adventureoflinkmk2 The past ten years for console gaming have been stagnant in the graphics department, IMO. It just feels like developers are just trying to push out games that are 75% playable... I will say though, I really love how the PC community is trying to port old DirectX / OpenGL renderers into raytracing renderers with new Vulkan / DirectX12 API's. I like to believe that is the equivalent of watching graphics change over the years, as new and improved hardware comes out.
@@BSPNode yeah really.. good to know we all share the same sentiments
That said it'd be nice to have a Vulcan gta4 mode, it's BS that I don't a full 60fps out of it, and I'm using a core2quad with 10gb of ram and a gt 640 on pcie 2.0 x16 (but wired as x8)
Edit: running windows 11
When i was 13 i got a snes for my birthday, and i remember waking up and my mom handing me that present, because she knew i wanted it, and was proud to have gotten it for me.
Now i look back, and i appreciate the love she had to make me happy, and i try to do the same for my kids.
Thanks for getting back to something i love, and spent countless hours achieving 110% on.
The demo version allowed you to unlock a level in the lake between yellow switch palace and first level. It’s been done before, but there’s nothing on it anywhere on the internet.
For those that grew up with these old Mario games, they were so special, and the music is now so evocative. Every gamer has their childhood console and games that made their childhood. I once randomly bumped into Miyamoto in Brighton about 7 years ago. I was so star struck, just shook his hand and said “thank you”. I think he knew what I meant.
Is this a copypasta lmao
I bet he knew how to unlock the lake between yellow switch and first level, which nobody else seems to know.
i still remember coming home from school one day and find an snes with mario world waiting for me, it was the single best day of my life, i still think it is one if not the best game ever made, the amount of magic in this game is outstanding to say the least.
:')
The good ol days, throw some blockbuster on Friday nights and it's the perfect nostalgia!
Got it for Christmas beat it in a week. Best gaming memory besides crono trigger
I honestly find Super Mario World a downgrade from Super Mario Brothers 3. There was less diversity in the enemies, lazier enemy designs, less diverse areas, and less innovation in certain game play mechanics in Super Mario World in comparison to Super Mario Brothers 3. However, I did play this game, meaning Super Mario World, straight through for about four to five hours and scored over 4,250,000 points by the time that I had beaten the game.
@@tsg9256 Heck yeah ❤
The blue Yoshi was such a game breaker. He could be obtained very early after reaching the Donut Plains, and will easily get you through almost any level, especially those with Koopa shells, but even those without any Koopa Troopas.
LMAO i said the same thing. I love how blue yoshi broke the game
"While riding Yoshi, you can eat these red berries, and eventually he'll crap out a power up for us." LOL
Wow...... memories from this game, irreplaceable. Playing alone or at a friend's house (yes they'd usually have the game too, who didn't)? Great times. Not as great as the NES though, but right up there. THANK YOU.
I was awestruck when I first saw this game. I was in my early teens. I didn't think video games could ever have such great visuals and precise controls. I thought this would be the pinnacle of video games. It's still one of my favorites...
My wife and i *just* started playing this. I haven't ran through it 100% in nearly 20 years so this is perfect
I just started speedrunning any% last week.
I introduced this game to my kids. They were like man this is hard lol. They enjoy it though.
@@Rinavani yeah my kids are used to games that hand everything to u
Make sure to have sexy time
y'all should do it without guides
That jump at 2:39 was so satisfying
Brother, this is just aggressively comprehensive. I've had this game a little over 30 years, and this is every trick I know, a bunch I didn't, and a few I hadn't even seen in glitch heavy TAS runs. Good show, man. Stay Awesome
I can’t imagine the amount of work these videos take. I know I’ll never go back and play the vast majority of the games featured in these videos, but i love watching them.
one of my faves ever. I play it regularly. Discovering the secrets in this game was such a treat as a kid. Obe of my fave memories as beating bowser before school. The blue yoshi absolutely breaks this game, lol. Once you get the blue yoshi you can beat the game in like 10 - 20 minutes.
There he is! Love this game when i got my snes in 1993 it came with Super Mario World and Mario Kart one of the best days of my life
I play this every few years to 100%. Probably my favorite game to revisit.
This is my favorite game of all time. I’ve played this game more than any other and I played this game when it was new. You’re showing me stuff I never knew and my next play through will be so satisfying! Thank you!
There's a trick you can do with Yoshi that I've never heard anyone talk about, I discovered it when I was a kid. When riding Yoshi, walk toward a fruit that Yoshi can eat. When Yoshi makes contact with the fruit he automatically eats it, but if you press the Y button to stick Yoshi's tongue out when he starts to eat the fruit, he'll eat it twice for 2 coins instead of one.
Yeah was gonna say I found that out when I first played myself
Was all like... why is he eating two berries
..?
I remember saving up my money I earned as a paper boy to be able to afford a Super Nintendo as a kid. It was so fun playing this game! So much nostalgia and good memories! ❤
What makes your videos the GOATs are that they're not just a comprehensive guide for every trick, secret, strategy, such, but they always really well thought out and thorough histories of the games. I love your videos so much, so thank you for your hard work!
My absolute favorite Mario game along with Mario 3. Time to kick back, and enjoy the hell out of 2 hours
You said favorite and then named another game. Choose.
@@jarlwhiterun7478 I also said ALONG WITH... learn to read please...
@@jarlwhiterun7478 There is no choice, for a tie has been announced in the contest.
Fight Fight Fight
This is THE essential Mario 2d platformer. The over world, the secrets, the bonuses, the level designs, the difficulty balance, the quirkiness, Yoshi lotion, and cheese bridge
Thank you for letting me relive a piece of childhood that many of us had experienced.
This is sooooo nostalgic! I thought I had completely mastered this game, however, you showed me a a thing or 15 I had no ideal even existed!!! Well done sir! 😊
I'm actually excited about this because even though I've played this game so many times, know it backwards and forwards, 96-star and all, I'm still sure you'll cover some neat tricks/glitches/bonuses that I've never seen before. So far this did not disappoint!
I strongly agree about the world map in SMW. The animations, changes as you clear areas, backtracking & exploration all make it feel more like a living, breathing world. It's a shame they didn't continue using the idea in SMW2.
That's actually a good point. I do like Yoshi's Island more, but.. Yep, they did kind of go back to a regular stage map.
Your guides are always amazing and informative, but I never thought you'd get into the cloud glitch or anything like that. Ultimate Guide Indeed!
"Crap out a power up"
That is not something I expected you would say and it's awesome. 😂
Still watching by parts each day. One of the best ways to remember my childhood. Thanks man this is a Masterpiece of a video.
Quite possibly my Favorite Mario game of all time, certainly my favorite SNES game. I was about 10 when this came out and the graphics, the stereo sound, and variety of levels was mind blowing to me, I remember working to get all 96 levels on all 3 save games. If you have never played this one. Do yourself a favor and play it, its a masterpiece.
One of the first games in my life that I completed 100%. Good memories.
I was just thinking this week "I hope my man comes back soon, I miss my weekly dose of beating videogames"
This is one of my favorite games on the SNES. Hell, even ever! I've played and completed this game so many times, but I still wanna watch my man beat it completely
Good to have you back, my good fella
I have been waiting SO long for this one. As a kid, I impressed friends with how many of the things I could unlock, but there were still so many I could not figure out. Looking forward to this one. Even waited for the second part to be posted so I can see it all rather than wait.
Hope you enjoy it!
@@UCanBeatVideoGames Oh I am.
As always these stories and gameplay are masterpieces I love it such grand memories with this one 😅
Was a Sega Genesis guy but my goodness this game is near perfection! This was one of the few games that made me envious of my SNES friends.
I’ve beat the game and would never have the time to do all this but it’s so entertaining to just watch this all the way through to see how much is possible and how much creativity was put into this game. It’s pretty incredible.
Yes. So much nostalgia wrapped up in this game.
This is the funniest, most entertaining content on this platform. Do the world a good one!
To put something in perspective I started following you at about 10K subs. I said back then World Of Longplays is in trouble, you have completely hit the mark somewhere between them and gaming historian and the world is better off for it. Much love.
A Classic among Classics... 💯🎮👍🏻
Back in the 90's when I was a kid, this game was the most beautiful Mario game to me (now it's the 2D most beautiful one - that came out to light during the 90's -... because we've also got Super Mario 64)
This and Tetris are the only games I’ve been playing consistently for around 30 years…that says something
One of the best games ever made to this day
Gosh.. I would love to hang out and see your amazing collection of games, play a few... its gotta be awesome having so many neat consoles and older games. It must be like stepping back into 1980-1995 or so... thank you for all you do for us, man.
Some of these tricks aren't found anywhere else on UA-cam. This is the only video I've ever seen with some of these. That's impressive, YCBVG.
This is exactly what I needed! Thanks for making the video! I'm having tons of fun playing Super Mario World because of this! 10/10
U Can Beat Video Games guy is way too underrated. I can listen his stuff without being annoyed. Unlike most of UA-camrs, they just start to irritate being jackass most of the time.
Still learning new things about this game from my snes days live it!!
Thank you for all the hard work you pit into these videos!
This game is probably in top 3 video game memories for me.
I absolutely love the opening segments before the gameplay on this channel.
As much as i like watching the walkthroughs,
I definitely like the way you phrase things when speaking about the history behind the games.
I’d watch the content if you ever do anything like that.
If you like game history, check out the "Gaming historian" YT channel. He does great work.
Me and boy watched the super Mario 3 video over a few days and we loved it … he’s gonna be so excited about this one. So am I lol. Amazing content you have on your channel man. 🙏🏻
Alright, now we're talking a real classic fun game to play from the SNES. Something that will help me guide the whole game through and see what other levels I may have missed and I'm sure this video will help me along the way. Thanks for posting and keep up the good work. 👍
Insane, I thought I knew everything but discovering that level clear item glitch made me quickly realize otherwise. The level of research you put into these never fails to impress me.
That 96 killed me when I was growing up. I thought it was a percent. I went nuts trying to figure out how to get 100%.
Me too! And this was before the days of the Internet. And of course, there was someone at your school that claimed to have 100
@@FallicIdol Their Uncle works at Nintendo.
Been waiting on this one for a while. Nostalgia overload.
Love this channel!
I think this game really set the bar high for the rest of the Super Nintendo! I love this game and finding all the secrets was challenging and fun. Thanks again for all your hard work, and Super Metroid when 😏
Soda Lake is one of the most missed level accessed.
I’m commenting at the beginning of the video, one word…TUBULAR! I still remember that world. I was 13 when the Super Nintendo came out, no way could I afford this thing, then I saw one in the window of a pawn shop about a month or so after it came out. I couldn’t believe it, and brought it home. Thanking you in advance for this video. I already know it’ll be great
Just want to say thanks for making these videos. When I am having a tough day, sinking into some old school video games while farming up materials on my WoW account just chills me out. Keep up the great work!!
This is such a SNES classic. Also...Lunar Magic and Kaizo Mario.
Kaizo Mario, i.e., "let's just put a bunch of invisible coin blocks everywhere"
Well this must have been a fun guide to put together.
As I am 18, I don't necessarily have nostalgia for this game in the typical sense, but I'll be darned if this isn't my favorite 2d Mario game. I remember playing this game in 2008 with my cousin on the SNES in my grannies attic and beating it together. Then when I was a little older I got my Wii U and downloaded a bunch of VC games. When I revisited this game I also started watching videos on UA-cam about it and it blew my mind when I saw all these secrets and hidden mechanics I had no idea existed. I had a blast trying to find them all. When I got my PC I installed SNES9X and downloaded the ROM for SMW and was introduced to the SMW central ROMhack scene which provides me to this day with hours of free entertainment. Thanks for the video, it brought back a lot of good memories.
and this is why Mario is one of the best. I love hearing stories like this, lol. I'm about 40 and hearing you youngstas gush about the games I grew up on brings a tear to my eyes lol

I remember me and my older cousin ragdolled the piss outta smb3, then one day she got a snes and rented SMW. We were both blown away, I remember flipping on the fences clear as day, I must've been 6.
Your new puppy has grown up, its nice to see kylo with a friend.
It also means ive been here long enough to see them grow and thrive, which we all want for family.
Youre a welcome friend to my weekends, and someone who cares about their own nostalgia like i do.
Great show brother.
Be safe, and i hope to see you next weekend.
Wanna play FF6? Its my fav... but i know if you do, we wont see you for 3 to 4 weeks
yep, today year's old when I first learned that you can control the coin trail by using the d-pad! Wow, that amount of times I played and beat this game and did not know that. Astonishing...thanks UCBVG!
Same!!! 🤯
This was one game i probably played the most times out of all the ganes ive ever played. Ive beaten this and SM3 no telling how many times. It never gets old!
So happy you did this game! One of my favorite aspects of this game is exploring all of the secrets throughout it. Cheers and rock on!
I know you hear it a lot (because I see it in the comments every time I watch one of these videos) but you're one of, if not my top favorite channel on UA-cam. Your channel concept is so unique while somehow also being a super "obvious" (in hindsight of course) concept: Take a game, do a walkthrough/playthrough, cut out all the fluff, narrate the entire thing in post with strategies and tips, provide a little history on the game, it just feels like the video version of a really good strategy guide -- I assume, since I never owned any.
Even if I'm not paying total attention while I have your videos on the second screen or something, I still find myself glancing to see ways to tackle these games I didn't think of or content I somehow missed. All without a 40-80 video long playlist full of gameplay and distracted banter. That stuff can be fun, too, but this gives me both longform entertainment *and* to-the-point informative content!
SWEETNESS!! Well done bro 👍👍👍
"Nah dogg, I ain't going in there". Sir... You're the BEST!!!!
Thanks for the amazing content as always!
Very glad to see your happy puppers. My favorite episodes are the ones that start with them smiling
This game is perfection! Theres so much content and reolay value, it's wild! And to think, Miyamoto wanted to add more to it. A part of me wishes Nintendo would re-release this game with all the cut content and release it on snes carts.
My first Snes game. Wonderful.
loving all your guides man, i bet lots of new generation youngsters will be able to fully enjoy retro gaming too thanks to the help of people like you
Born in 79. Grew up in the 80s & 90s… NES, SNES, N64 & PS1 all in their heyday. Super Mario World is easily the greatest game of all time. Sure, there are tons of incredible games as far as depth, graphics, gameplay etc… but nothing is close to what SMW was in the early 90s. It’s just perfect. I play it at least once a year.
Who doesn’t love yoshi and this channel?!?! Best of both worlds
Your videos are really well done and entertaining! Thanks for this piece of nostalgia.
this is the ONE i have been waiting for, thank you very much
Been waiting of this one!!! Thank you!!!
Wow I have never seen the Soda Lake level!
It's amazing how many awesome levels this game has. I can't wait for the next video!
It's probably the hardest level to get to.
This video along with all your other videos are absolutely top notch. Thank you!
Amazing and informative video. THANK YOU!!!
One of the game i've played the most when I was young. A lot of things I didnt know, thanks for sharing this detailed playthrough!! ❤
Thanks for making another video. Good luck in part 2 aka the conclusion!❤
Your joke about the Torpedo Teds just sunk in to me now and blew my mind. THAT is why they named him Torpedo Ted. Over two decades of playing this game and it didn't occur to me until now.
My favorite Mario game of all time! Thanks for the vid!
This will do nicely. Thanks UCBVG!
I played this game pretty much every day of my life from 4 years old to about 15 when my SNES finally gave out. I can proudly say I knew every single one of this. This was just always a game I could pick up and play through in one sitting while thoroughly enjoying it. This and TMNT Turtles in TIme on a Mame emulator were my go to play sessions most nights.
Can't wait for the next video. Getting closer to my fave parts!
Another great video, dude! I really appreciate your dedication to being thorough with these games, coupled with the lore and history. Your delivery in a matter-of-fact way and calm tone really fosters an environment of positive reinforcement for learning the games better. I have been playing this game since it came out in 1991, and you taught me a few tricks I never knew, such as:
1 - Sliding to defeat Big Boos in the ghost houses.
2 - 1-Up Trick in Star Road 2 level
3 - Using the cape to whack the coin blocks on the left during the 1-Up pipes.
Keep up the good work and excellent review/walkthrough of this top-tier SNES classic!
Brilliant, well done!
Hell yeah! I was waiting for this for weeks!
What a project!!! Excellent effort!!!
Learned some new things from you even though I have played this game for 20 years! Best SMW video I've ever seen. Subbed!! ❤🍄🍄
That was amazing so many things I learned and so many th8ng I forgot about ! Awesome dude keep it up
Love this game great work as usual. I think Mario would be in trouble with Pita for the way he treats Yoshi all the time.
Just started the video and the time stamps are amazing. You've clearly outdone yourself on this one.
I've 100% this game a lot but still learned some secrets, great channel man. have a good one!
“Of course, we’ve already got 99 lives and we can’t get anymore... but that doesn’t mean we aren’t going to try.” That’s awesome, man. Lol I enjoy the comedy.
