For those that grew up with these old Mario games, they were so special, and the music is now so evocative. Every gamer has their childhood console and games that made their childhood. There's a trick you can do with Yoshi that I've never heard anyone talk about, I discovered it when I was a kid. When riding Yoshi, walk toward a fruit that Yoshi can eat. When Yoshi makes contact with the fruit he automatically eats it, but if you press the Y button to stick Yoshi's tongue out when he starts to eat the fruit, he'll eat it twice for 2 coins instead of one.
The blue Yoshi was such a game breaker. He could be obtained very early after reaching the Donut Plains, and will easily get you through almost any level, especially those with Koopa shells, but even those without any Koopa Troopas.

I played this game pretty much every day of my life from 4 years old to about 15 when my SNES finally gave out. I can proudly say I knew every single one of this. This was just always a game I could pick up and play through in one sitting while thoroughly enjoying it. This and TMNT Turtles in TIme on a Mame emulator were my go to play sessions most nights.

I remember me and my older cousin ragdolled the piss outta smb3, then one day she got a snes and rented SMW. We were both blown away, I remember flipping on the fences clear as day, I must've been 6.
Quite possibly my Favorite Mario game of all time, certainly my favorite SNES game. I was about 10 when this came out and the graphics, the stereo sound, and variety of levels was mind blowing to me, I remember working to get all 96 levels on all 3 save games. If you have never played this one. Do yourself a favor and play it, its a masterpiece.
A Classic among Classics... 💯🎮👍🏻 Back in the 90's when I was a kid, this game was the most beautiful Mario game to me (now it's the 2D most beautiful one - that came out to light during the 90's -... because we've also got Super Mario 64)
I’m commenting at the beginning of the video, one word…TUBULAR! I still remember that world. I was 13 when the Super Nintendo came out, no way could I afford this thing, then I saw one in the window of a pawn shop about a month or so after it came out. I couldn’t believe it, and brought it home. Thanking you in advance for this video. I already know it’ll be great
This guy helped me beat sonic 1! This guy is literally the best! One of the best guides ever, Thank you so much for teaching me How to do the Cape! I did not know you had to keep pressing left, I kept hitting jump and nothing happened!
I found this searching for a video on level design. I would have killed for a guide like this back when I was trying to master this game. I did it the hard way and now I could play it with my eyes closed.
This was one game i probably played the most times out of all the ganes ive ever played. Ive beaten this and SM3 no telling how many times. It never gets old!
When I was a kid I remember getting the SNES for Christmas and the weather was so awful that year that we got snowed in. So I was able to play a ton of Super Mario World without my parents getting cranky. Such a great time.
As I am 18, I don't necessarily have nostalgia for this game in the typical sense, but I'll be darned if this isn't my favorite 2d Mario game. I remember playing this game in 2008 with my cousin on the SNES in my grannies attic and beating it together. Then when I was a little older I got my Wii U and downloaded a bunch of VC games. When I revisited this game I also started watching videos on UA-cam about it and it blew my mind when I saw all these secrets and hidden mechanics I had no idea existed. I had a blast trying to find them all. When I got my PC I installed SNES9X and downloaded the ROM for SMW and was introduced to the SMW central ROMhack scene which provides me to this day with hours of free entertainment. Thanks for the video, it brought back a lot of good memories.
and this is why Mario is one of the best. I love hearing stories like this, lol. I'm about 40 and hearing you youngstas gush about the games I grew up on brings a tear to my eyes lol
@@SussyPoster69 i just turned 40 valentines day and i played this game a lot when I was a kid so I'm glad to hear that this game hasn't died yet sometime last year i finally got the star it was awesome and hard
I know you hear it a lot (because I see it in the comments every time I watch one of these videos) but you're one of, if not my top favorite channel on UA-cam. Your channel concept is so unique while somehow also being a super "obvious" (in hindsight of course) concept: Take a game, do a walkthrough/playthrough, cut out all the fluff, narrate the entire thing in post with strategies and tips, provide a little history on the game, it just feels like the video version of a really good strategy guide -- I assume, since I never owned any. Even if I'm not paying total attention while I have your videos on the second screen or something, I still find myself glancing to see ways to tackle these games I didn't think of or content I somehow missed. All without a 40-80 video long playlist full of gameplay and distracted banter. That stuff can be fun, too, but this gives me both longform entertainment *and* to-the-point informative content!
I don’t know if you’ll read this but I was watching this video for about an hour when my phone died and it made me want to play, so I started a new file. And when my phone came back on, I had beaten the first world, when I started playing along with you. And we just beat vanilla cave but I’m calling it a night. That was fun playing along for the first time. You make playing the game look easy. There were many times I had to pause the video because I kept dying. I also played on two players so I wouldn’t have to back track with Mario I could tackle two routes at once.
Another great video, dude! I really appreciate your dedication to being thorough with these games, coupled with the lore and history. Your delivery in a matter-of-fact way and calm tone really fosters an environment of positive reinforcement for learning the games better. I have been playing this game since it came out in 1991, and you taught me a few tricks I never knew, such as: 1 - Sliding to defeat Big Boos in the ghost houses. 2 - 1-Up Trick in Star Road 2 level 3 - Using the cape to whack the coin blocks on the left during the 1-Up pipes. Keep up the good work and excellent review/walkthrough of this top-tier SNES classic!
The most important game to me that you've covered yet! Super Mario World is not only the very first video game I've ever played at the age of 2 or 3 in the mid-90s...it's THE game that altered the very course of my life. Everything that I love about video games, Super Mario World is to thank for it. Goes without saying but...my favorite mainline Mario platformer (maybe besides Odyssey), hands down! Very few things are as nostalgic as SMW. Truly one of the greatest of all time.
Nice video! Impressive work as always. I first encountered this game at a cousin's house in Ireland, and it was what made me want a SNES. For some reason Vanilla Dome 1 sticks in my memory as one of those moments my impressionable young mind just sort of went "Wow...videogames!" And the rest is history.
Can’t believe how many glitches and stuff I didn’t know about there was just in the first world. No matter how much I’ve played any game, I always manage to find out stuff I didn’t know about from your videos 👍👍
This was always one of those games that I forgot how much I loved. Like, I didn't own a copy myself as a kid but literally everyone I knew did so I'd play any time I visited but I always tend to forget how much I really like this game
This is one of the biggest video games from my childhood. Today, it's not my favorite Mario game ever, nor is it my favorite video game ever, but it's definitely hugely nostalgic for me. It never fails to put a smile on my face. I remember my dad and I would always take turns trying to beat the game, but I was a huge coward back then, so if I died attempting a new level, I went back to an earlier level and farmed extra 1Ups for us both to share.
I've never beaten this game but I played it so much as a kid. Even been playing it again on my brother's Switch Online lately. Still an incredible game.
Even though graphics have advanced so much this game still holds up today. I think it's the best Mario game out of them all. It was fun, not too hard. The level designs were fun and varied. It had just the right amount of power ups. The themes of the world's was a nice touch back then as well. When I played this is my youth I remember being in awe at how massive the game felt and even though I played it more than I could count when I watched this I'll be damned if there weren't a few things I never knew. Keep up the superb work man. I can't wait for part 2!
One of the greatest games ever. My family was a Nintendo family, through and through. The SNES we actually got when Child World was going out of business and my middle brother and I pooled our money together to buy it ourselves. Probably why the console is still one of my favorites.
I remember getting my SNES back in 1990 for Christmas. I also remember getting that Mario game with it, and after trial and error 100000x's. WHEN I finally got to Bowser's Castle, and got to the main guy himself, I called my mother on the phone, yelled that I had "Gotten to King Koopa!!!". She said that's not important, and don't bother her at work w/o it being an emergency. How little did she know it was a serious emergency lol. Not sure if you will cover it later, as it's getting late, and well..it's late. IF you want to redo a castle/fortress you can. Hit L & R on the controller at the same time and you'll be able to go back into that level.
This game is perfection! Theres so much content and reolay value, it's wild! And to think, Miyamoto wanted to add more to it. A part of me wishes Nintendo would re-release this game with all the cut content and release it on snes carts.
Your joke about the Torpedo Teds just sunk in to me now and blew my mind. THAT is why they named him Torpedo Ted. Over two decades of playing this game and it didn't occur to me until now.
I remember seeing this game for the first time at a Walmart playable kiosk when I was a kid. The graphics looked so much more crisp than the NES. My dad would send us a SNES a short time later. Thanks, dad!
It can't be understated just how incredible this game was. It was as much of a leap forward as the original Super Mario Bros. was when it came out. Just about as close to perfect as it's possible to get.

I’d watch the content if you ever do anything like that.
If you like game history, check out the "Gaming historian" YT channel. He does great work.
Gosh.. I would love to hang out and see your amazing collection of games, play a few... its gotta be awesome having so many neat consoles and older games. It must be like stepping back into 1980-1995 or so... thank you for all you do for us, man.
I’ve beat the game and would never have the time to do all this but it’s so entertaining to just watch this all the way through to see how much is possible and how much creativity was put into this game. It’s pretty incredible.
I've been playing this game for over 20 years and I did not know about killing the boo with the slide 😲
bro, i've played this countless times and you've shown a lot of hidden tricks and secrets I never knew existed. This has got to be the best guide for this game hands down!
I think this game really set the bar high for the rest of the Super Nintendo! I love this game and finding all the secrets was challenging and fun. Thanks again for all your hard work, and Super Metroid when 😏
Soda Lake is one of the most missed level accessed.
This is the funniest, most entertaining content on this platform. Do the world a good one!
One of the first games in my life that I completed 100%. Good memories.
Me and boy watched the super Mario 3 video over a few days and we loved it … he’s gonna be so excited about this one. So am I lol. Amazing content you have on your channel man. 🙏🏻
Your new puppy has grown up, its nice to see kylo with a friend.
It also means ive been here long enough to see them grow and thrive, which we all want for family.
Youre a welcome friend to my weekends, and someone who cares about their own nostalgia like i do.
Great show brother.
Be safe, and i hope to see you next weekend.
Wanna play FF6? Its my fav... but i know if you do, we wont see you for 3 to 4 weeks
Yes. So much nostalgia wrapped up in this game.
Thank you for all the hard work you pit into these videos!
loving all your guides man, i bet lots of new generation youngsters will be able to fully enjoy retro gaming too thanks to the help of people like you
A Classic among Classics... 💯🎮👍🏻
Back in the 90's when I was a kid, this game was the most beautiful Mario game to me (now it's the 2D most beautiful one - that came out to light during the 90's -... because we've also got Super Mario 64)
Love this game great work as usual. I think Mario would be in trouble with Pita for the way he treats Yoshi all the time.
When I was a kid I remember getting the SNES for Christmas and the weather was so awful that year that we got snowed in. So I was able to play a ton of Super Mario World without my parents getting cranky. Such a great time.
Thanks for making another video. Good luck in part 2 aka the conclusion!❤
Nice! This is my 2nd favorite Mario game (Super Mario 2, US is my top)
@@thecunninlynguist Proof that good games are intergenerational
P.S. your username is hilarious
@@SussyPoster69 i just turned 40 valentines day and i played this game a lot when I was a kid so I'm glad to hear that this game hasn't died yet sometime last year i finally got the star it was awesome and hard
@@JeremyAustin-hw1qy that's so cool! The star road and special world levels are my favorites
@@SussyPoster69 cool glad to hear that
Well this must have been a fun guide to put together.
Was a Sega Genesis guy but my goodness this game is near perfection! This was one of the few games that made me envious of my SNES friends.
Still learning new things about this game from my snes days live it!!
So happy you did this game! One of my favorite aspects of this game is exploring all of the secrets throughout it. Cheers and rock on!
Been waiting on this one for a while. Nostalgia overload.
Love this channel!
Another great video, dude! I really appreciate your dedication to being thorough with these games, coupled with the lore and history. Your delivery in a matter-of-fact way and calm tone really fosters an environment of positive reinforcement for learning the games better. I have been playing this game since it came out in 1991, and you taught me a few tricks I never knew, such as:
1 - Sliding to defeat Big Boos in the ghost houses.
2 - 1-Up Trick in Star Road 2 level
3 - Using the cape to whack the coin blocks on the left during the 1-Up pipes.
Wow I have never seen the Soda Lake level!
It's amazing how many awesome levels this game has. I can't wait for the next video!
It's probably the hardest level to get to.
No matter how much I’ve played any game, I always manage to find out stuff I didn’t know about from your videos 👍👍
i don't even own half the games you play and yet still i find myself always excited to watch your playthroughs
SWEETNESS!! Well done bro 👍👍👍
This game is probably in top 3 video game memories for me.
This was always one of those games that I forgot how much I loved. Like, I didn't own a copy myself as a kid but literally everyone I knew did so I'd play any time I visited but I always tend to forget how much I really like this game
Very glad to see your happy puppers. My favorite episodes are the ones that start with them smiling
My first Snes game. Wonderful.
1:45 Paul Rudd in the Super Nintendo commercial makes me happy.
Lol the fact that I have been thinking about where you have been, AND I just started warming up to speedrun any% has me so excited to watch this
One of the greatest games ever.
One of the best games ever made to this day
This is such a SNES classic. Also...Lunar Magic and Kaizo Mario.
Kaizo Mario, i.e., "let's just put a bunch of invisible coin blocks everywhere"
My favorite Mario game of all time! Thanks for the vid!
i realized that you can actually do a shell jump with buzzy beetle in vanilla dome 2 in the vine part to go on yoshi
I was today years old when I discovered "The Easy Path", thanks to you. Wow. I never knew any of that was a thing. lol
This game is perfection! Theres so much content and reolay value, it's wild! And to think, Miyamoto wanted to add more to it. A part of me wishes Nintendo would re-release this game with all the cut content and release it on snes carts.
That 96 killed me when I was growing up. I thought it was a percent. I went nuts trying to figure out how to get 100%.
Me too! And this was before the days of the Internet. And of course, there was someone at your school that claimed to have 100
@@FallicIdol Their Uncle works at Nintendo.
