God damn man you make that jazzmaster sound so good. This video was the deciding factor on me getting this exact model. It sounds incredible playing wide open molten hot metal…and then like you show here it cleans up so nicely and has a full and beautiful clean sound as well. I love the fact that it has minimal knobs and electronics and just one volume knob and a pickup selector. This model jim root made is also so much classier looking than all his other signatures as well. The block inlays give it such a different look than his others. My only gripe was that I needed to have the nut filed to fit 11s. I was surprised by this considering jim root uses 11s and this guitar came out of the box with fucking 9s on her. After a proper set up and what not…my beast sits in drop B and plays perfectly. Awesome review man. You always look so happy while showcasing your instruments and gear and it’s honestly very contagious lol. You’re the best man 🤘🤘

Also did you swap the strings to a thicker gauge? If you did, was there any filing you had to do to the nut?
Can't wait to get myself a JR Jazzmaster. I prefer the looks of the flat black model personally, the block inlays are killer though, something I would definitely think about having added to the black model.

Awesome guitar! :) Just got a Jim Root Strat two weeks ago and I am loving it. Jazzmaster would be great companion to the Strat.
Loved this review bro! I’m hella late but am super interested in this guitar and have read a lot of reviews on it… almost everyone has said great things about it!! The only complaint I am seeing from people is about the nut not being properly filed or some things to do with the nut in particular.
Did you run across this problem or have to make any adjustment to it?

Good stuff as always! Love Jim’s guitars. I’ve just always had an issue with hitting the volume and rolling it off while I was playing. Probably not much of an issue for a lot of players. I just play like I have two left feet for hands! 😂

The sound from this guitar is somehow fantastic. Makes the old EMG 81/60 combination sound old.

I have the black American made Root Jazzmaster. I ordered his signature pickups and ended up putting the 81 back in. The signature pickups will be for sale. I would like to add the Root guitars with EMG 81 into the Fortin 33 Meshuggah pedal into a Friedman BE is all you need 👍
If you can you should try and make a video comparing the V4 to the previous model, I just bought a JR Jazzmaster at the beginning of the year. I was just curious how the quality & playability was compared to the USA model. I really dig this white one(love my other JR to death, I'd buy another one), but the price is kinda a bummer. Great video though as always

Great review! I'm debating on getting this or the black USA model and swap the pick-ups for those new ones. Would you say it'd be worth going through all that trouble just because it's a USA model or is that new MIM model feel just as good or close enough to the older Jazzmaster? I do like the new features and design of this new Jazzmaster but I've never played a USA before so I'm struggling to decide if it's worth. Thanks
Only a year later for a response ehh lol? In all seriousness though my guy…the new pickups are DOPE. I’d say it would be worth it and would like sick as fuck with an all black guitar and zebra pickups. And they go from molten metal monsters to super glassy and clean in the flip of a switch and a roll of the knob. Such a sonically amazing set of pickups in my opinion.

Dude! I had the same issues! Loose toggle switch and the wire under my bridge pickup! I bet several of the V4 guitars have that exact issue!
I got mine on Monday. The upper neck pickup screw was not even screwed into the pickup. Noticed as soon as I opened the case.

That was a great demo! I think your being too kind about the two minor problems you experienced. Considering the price tag of this fine instrument that is bullshit for those issues to exist. It just shows you that quality control today is such a mixed bag. Otherwise, you certainly did this axe justice. Thanks!
