I liked the simplicity of the first signatures with no inlays. Finally got my hands on V4 and thought the binding felt cheap. Ended up ordering the strat the other day. It’s what I’ve always wanted since I was 10.
Aweseome comparison man. Extremly well spoken and fantastic information. I'm waiting currently for a black Jazz Master Jim Root to be sent to my house but i love them all haha
@@EricMorettin normally I don't play actives since I prefer passive and I'm a huge fan of Seymour Duncan. I might have to try a set of these some time in the future
The U.S. Jazzmaster has the big strat headstock. So it's mostly just a factory specific choice. Also, the fret ends typically are an issue due to Mexico having a much more humid climate, and the neck will shrink when a guitar leaves that country.
Hey, don't usually leave comments on videos. I recently got the Jim Root Telecaster and I'm loving the sound of the EMG pickups, never used active pickups before so it's definitely a different sound for me and I love them, the EMG 81, really sticks out in the mix with it's vehement and behemoth sound, but I may consider switching to the Daemonium pickups or just buying a V4 Jazzmaster altogerher! I've heard good things about them so I think it would be a worthy choice to try them out. Thanks for all the information in this video. Earned yourself a sub my guy. Much love from the Bahamas, Cayden
@@EricMorettin Understood, I usually make all of my purchases from Sweetwater. I assume you say this because sometimes the frets can be faulty or something? I've never heard of that before, I'm still somewhat of a noob of guitar and have only been playing for a couple years, lol. Thanks mate!
@@nightowels every newer MiM fender I've played have had very sharp fret ends which haven't been sorted prior to going to dealer shelves. Lots of my friends across the world have said the same from first hand experience. Try before you buy.
@@EricMorettin Ah okay, thanks for the explanation and letting me know about that. I'll be sure to keep that in mind and be sure to wary of it if I ever get one. All in all, the guitars and pickups sound great, may slap the Daemonium in one of my other guitars to beef it up a bit.
Have you ever tried any Mick Thomson signature guitars? If so what're your opinions? I've personally been able to play a good number of the Pro Series Soloists, as well as a USA model and one of the Ibanez MTM guitars (not sure if it was the 1 or 2); I had most fun with the Pro Soloists because of the D shaped neck profile.
I believe I have only tried the MTM2 for a short time, otherwise I have not tried any other Mick signature. I'm excited to see what he releases with ESP though
@@EricMorettin Same, though looking at the prices of some of the upper end LTDs currently, I'm worried any Mick midels woukd be expensive too. Hopefully not.
Both sound sick and different. My choice is stratocaster. It sounds really tight and clean. Jazzmaster is not far behind, but in this setup suits more what actually yo play in this video. Both are killer.
Yeah it's hard to go wrong either way for tone. They both sound great in their own ways, and can easily do various genres depending how you play and your signal chain.
I bet manufacturers could use tritium vials like I have on all my pistols' night sights for permanent luminescence. You'd have to replace them every 12 years, though.
That seems like it would be a costly repair. I know lots of players are using small high-vis circle stickers on the sides of their fretboards to emulate luminlay side dots
Take a shot of vodka every time he says Fender! Take a shot of Whiskey every time he says Jim Root! Drink a whole beer every time he says Jazzmaster! Drink a whole Red Bull if you think he talks more than a Duck's ass!!

@@SilkandScrooge the Strat is incredible. There's something about the less is more approach that just wins with these guitars.
Would love to see a future Jim Root Strat with block inlays…
Personally, I'm not a fan of big block inlays on stratocasters. But to each their own!

@@EricMorettin I believe I will. Thank you
The reason the headstock on the jazzmaster is smaller is because it's a real jazzmaster headstock which is different from strat headstocks.
The U.S. Jazzmaster has the big strat headstock.

Cheers! Both great pickups. If you get the jazzmaster make sure the frets are good from the factory before you buy

The strat sounds cleaner but they both sound different but in a good way
Yeah the strat has a more controlled low end which is probably from the body being routed for traditional strat electronics layout
The strat sounds better imo. But the jm is sexier😂. Can you tell me if one of them " neck dive"?
