This tutorial was FANTASTIC! I use OBS for general streaming on UA-cam. I can now create a Whatnot profile in OBS and sell on Whatnot using OBS. I can also use my Streamdeck. Thank you for this.
If you don’t mind me asking how do you use stream deck on whatnot lives?
Hey hey! You would use stream deck the same way you’ve always been using it, except you would have to duplicate your Whatnot scene and add whatever you want to the duplicated scene so that the format is all the same. Now you can add whatever you want to your scenes and add the Shortcuts to stream deck. Keep in mind you cannot use audio. Audio is Done through the microphone through the Whatnot website. You would only be using OBS for the virtual camera for visuals.

Thank you for the detailed video. BTW, do you lose your configuration when you log off of OBS? I seem to. I followed all the instructions and when I went live in a test show my daughter said everything was blank. Will try again.

I do! I use the stream deck all the time for things like a sound board or changing scenes. I'll consider making a stream deck tutorial, in the meantime any OBS/Stream deck tutorial you find can be implemented in your streams.

Great help i hjave set up obs for a different platform so i have the general knowledge. Question what is the dimensions of the main "card screen" i have the template but do not understand the other. i am using a logitec webcam for the main camera.

Hi Ryan, Your video is tremendously useful! I used all the settings you provided, but for some reason, my viewers can hear an echo. I can hear it too, but it doesn't bother me as much. I have no idea how to fix it. I use a blue yeti microphone, and plug my headphones into the yeti mix to hear music & me talking during stream.
you need to press mute on your stream if it is seeing two inputs for it.
So if im using a phone as the camera and microphone I just plug it into the pc and it will appear in options? Thanks man great video
Another thing is not all cameras have the Zoom out option. Especially for those who break with a stage and have multiple hits there.
the audio is moving in my obs even clicking vb cable when starting stream my viewers dont hear any audio and in test stream I cannot hear no audio so no echo? need help????

When I get on the Whatnot on the live stream portion, The OBS visual camera does not show as an option. I did click start virtual steaming beforehand as well.
Is there a way to listen to the music that I’m streaming as well through headphones or anything? As I’m in silence when I follow these instructions otherwise everything works amazing

Im using a logi webcam not phone,i cant seem to get it to vertical mode with transform, its still wide angle horizontal, or just flips it different ways and rotating. what am i doing wrong?

Ryan I want to use my iPhone to hover overhead while opening packs and have the face cam on me. Would this setup apply to that method or do I need to do something else?
I am trying to use continuity camera fr OBS. However there is no way to zoom out of the iphone camera. I am trying to get my recording to fit within whatnot's center of canvas. However anyway that I choose to resize it, I can only stretch it out to weirdly fit it, or I have to cut out majority of what my iphone camera is picking up.
I need to check my settings again. I've been having a issue of my mic not working. I didn't change any setting and it just stopped working. I can either get my desktop sound to work and not my mic or vice-versa can't have both at the same time.
How do I hear what is being played while streaming? Do I need to use headphone on a monitor connection? The stream can hear it, but I can't and don't want feedback into the mic if the music is coming out of the laptop speakers as well as the VB cable setup.
Hi everyone! This video has gotten a lot more views and questions than I intended, Thank you! Whatnot has updated quite a bit since this video was made so I wanted to cover a few things. Your audio will no longer feedback to you, so you must check the audio from another device. If you still are having issues, I have added a drive link to the VB cable installation video only made by whatnot staffer Bug.
Do I need a laptop to properly use the OBS for Whatnot? I'm wondering because my phone won't let me set up a test stream on Whatnot. Or can a tablet substitute the laptop for using OBS properly? Thank You
Great video bro. Question though. I’m not able to use the desktop audio option to play music. It doesn’t show sound on the mixer when I play music from iTunes. Is that because the mic I’m using is the laptop MacBook mic?
This is a tough one for me because I don't use mac very often. The best advice I can tell you is look up a Mac OS specific tutorial for capturing desktop audio in obs
When I have vb cable selected the music wont show on streaming. when i go into my apple laptop settings and change the audio output to that vb cable it seems like it works but the Problem is I cant hear any music at all, but other people who stream me, can. I did this with whatnot
hey great video I'm having a issue with my vb ac I have downloaded it and even paid the $5 for donation ware and it still is not showing up on my computer ... how do I know that my ac is properly downloaded and installed ( it never appears in my audio options)
Hey! Not sure if you read these comments but I have All new software on my MAC and Iphone so it's now using the Continuity Camera. That wont let me change orientations to have the iPhone show up in anything but 16:9. Have you seen a solve for this?

hey, having an issue i tried using my camera with whatnot and for some reason my feed is not shown on peoples phones/ and if they are able to see it they say that it looks very bad quality im at 30p on my camera and followed all ur steps to a T. any suggestions?

Hi Ryan! I hope this message finds you well. I have a question regarding my client's live stream on Whatnot. I created an overlay for him, but the output on the app is different from the output on the web. When watching on the web, the overlay appears too small, while on the app, it appears too big and gets cut off. I'm not sure how this happened because I created the overlay in a 9:16 aspect ratio with a resolution of 1080x1920. Could you help me figure out what went wrong?
Hello and Great Video. I have watched this so many times. Can you cover something I am having an extremely hard time with. I am having the worst time getting a Stream Key from Whatnot. Is there a way I can find this myself. Someone said it would be under my Whatnot Seller Info, but it is nowhere to be found. Please and thanks.

Hi. I’m trying to add the virtual audio plug but I can’t seem to get it to work. I’m not able to play music on my livestream. Can you help?
Great easy to follow video. I have all the same settings applied. When I run the in test mode on whatnot with the feed muted there is a 2 second delay from what I do on my end to what is seen on whatnot. How can I reduce the delay? using 920 for webcam for face facing and iPhone 11Max Pro for Card facing through the lightning cord. I even went out and got the lightning adapter to HDMI but OBS wasnt picking up my iphone through IOS camera for filmic pro app (waste of $14 lol) so I had to go back to straight cable to iPhone. Thanks in advance. Looking forward to my first giveways show tomorrow (I hope) lol.

How did you get OBS or your phone to connect with each other? I’m having a hard time trying to connect my iPhone to OBS.
@@sleepymarv so I don’t use my phone at all for my setup. I use two mirrorless cameras that act as a webcam. Let me ask some other streamers what app they use. I know some of them cost money
Hey Ryan! My setup is a little different but you may be able to help me. I am using my ipad mini to start my stream and them using screen share to get my face cam. id like to be able to have audio though obs for music, what would you suggest?
Sadly as of right now Whatnot only allows the device you started the stream from to be your audio input, hopefully this changes in the future.
Watching this 2 years (!) after the fact and everything stops for me at DL the VB Audio Cable as that zip file is no longer compat with Win10/11. BUMMER as I tried another VB Cable installer and OBS did not seem to recognize that, as well. Any help for a new Seller?

How do I get my voice out of the headphones. Music is pumped into the stream and I can hear it on the headphones, but I hear my voice as well on a delay and drives me crazy.

One question. So is your card cam a Logitech webcam that you've got set up with some type of arm holding it to the table? Just trying to picture in my head what your actual setup looks like for that.
Great question! My camera sits on top of a super clamp that attaches to my desk. I prefer the low angle looking up at the cards, but some people also use mic arms and things like it to go for the top-down look.
VB didn't work but the same instructions work with Blackhole 2ch. I just can't monitor what I'm hearing from the computer, so I have no idea what people are hearing or not hearing. Don't know what to do about that.

Very informative thank you!! I’m trying to use a C920 Pro HD webcam but when I try to adjust to fit into a vertical format it is extremely scrunched together and pixilated. Am I used the wrong type of webcam for this?
not the wrong type of webcam. Check your settings within Obs by right clicking your device. Also make sure your drivers are up to date. Scaling down shouldnt pixelate your image.

Hello, every time I try to start virtual camera, I get the following error. I am using an iPhone 15 pro Max.
"An error has occured while installing the virtual camera:
OBS cannot install the virtual camera if it's not in "/Applications". Please move OBS to the "/Applications" directory"

really amazing video and helped me out immensely, but I'm having some trouble when I check out my stream on whatnot on my pc its catching crazy interference with something and keeps making super loud loops, I've changed mics and even audio outputs, any idea what it could be?
I'm so glad the video helped you! This is probably because you need to mute the livestream on the whatnot webpage. The way this set up working is any desktop sound will play through the livestream. If you are still having issues let me know

i was also having an issue with the other audio problem so that might be why this is happening. i commented earlier cuz i couldn't go to audio advanced and find the downloaded file so maybe that's why I'm having the buzzing noise?
question, so in this set up are you using two webcams? I'm using an iPhone 13 pro for my main focus and then a webcam for my face. my question is Im using a yeti plugged in my iPhone for now, I was wondering if this audio set up is better or should I do something like yours?
A yeti straight into an iPhone is great! The only benefit of using obs in terms of audio is you can active things like noise gates and eq to help with background noise and get the most outta the microphone. But your setup is already far past the average user.
Hi Ryan - Great video! Unfortunately, when I go to my whatnot test stream, I see the video feed just fine but I hear no audio (which I guess I should be hearing!). Right now I only have my Sony ZV1 camera attached to OBS and which I've attached an external mic. By the way is the external mic something that should show up as an audio device in OBS? At the moment all I see is a reference to the ZV1 microphone when I tried to add the external mic to OBS! I am pulling my hair out here - can you offer any suggestions as to what might be going wrong here?

Also experiencing this same thing. I configured Virtual Audio cable exactly as instructed but cannot seem to get it to work. Switching back to my microphone as a single input seems to work fine though.
