What did you use to record this tutorial? I notice that I can't have OBS record itself without a video source added to a scene, so I'm wondering what you did to record OBS in a blank state.
This is one of the BEST tutorials I've ever seen. Clear, doesn't skip over important elements, etc. Just superb! I'm messing around with OBS right now and it already feels VERY familiar.
Best and only video about OBS that actually first explains what a scene is or what a source is, before diving in and telling you how to create/add them, when you don't yet know what they actually are or why you are adding them. Have been wishing I could learn to use OBS for over a year and yours is the first video that actually made me realise I can.
So far this is the best video that I have seen for a beginner. Someone already thanked you for going slow and showing the steps and tab. I agree. I am particularly interested in learning how to use OBS Studio during a Zoom presentation.
This was very helpful because I only do 4 lives a month and didn't want to buy a subscription to yard stream or other streaming host that cost $40+ a month. OBS is free so I figure I'll try it. Maybe someday I'll need to do more but this looks so easy and you explained it very well. I have two cameras I want to use and I also want to put an image on the screen. This is perfect! Thank you so much. I'm subscribing because I think you need to be seen by many more people. Praying the algorithm picks you up and pushes you to many. more people.
Loved your tutorial great work. I am considering jumping into content creation and finding out that there is both so much to learn but also there are so many people making great tutorials like yourself. Many Thanks
Wow, I had heard about and have been looking at OBS "from the outside" for a few years now, waiting for when I wanted to pull the trigger on video creation. You really gave us a great intro to this platform, clearly and logically presented with just the right amount of detail, but without overwhelming us. Excellent job, thank you a ton. I guess I'll be subscribing then 😀Now time to dive into it, cheers!
i LOVED this tutorial! first video i came across and i love how you are talking and showing everything at a slow pace which is easy to follow along with
Thank you so much! This is one of the best OBS tutorials I've found so far. It's easy to understand and follow what you do. You're also showing the features that most users are probably going to need. Great vid! 👍
Awesome video and I was able to have OBS open on my other screen so I could pause your video, try out what you did, and then go back and continue watching. Thank you for being so clear
Two thing I was looking for in this video 1) how to zoom in and out of particular portion of the screen 21:35 2) how to highlight a portion of the screen like you did 0:05, 1:28 , 1:34 , 1:41 and so on
Howfinity your video is the best among every other obs videos I know this takes alot of effort but i believe your effort will never be in vain Thank you so much
This is the best tutorial by far. It is very clear, the instructed was not in a hurry but very helpful in his explanation. Can you please follow up with more as you learn more about OBS?
This was very simple. I been skeptable of this because I don't have enough of storage, but I thought it would be good to get familiar. You did a great job in teaching here.
That was quite simply teh best tutorial on OBS I have ever found. - subscribed. I only wanted a few pointers on how to record my screen properly but now I understand what the scenes are for and how to use studio mode. Excellent.
I am actually thinking of using this since the other recorder I had is hella buggy, will cuz some unnecessary skips in the audio if you're doing a reaction, and it will give you an error if you keep raising the fps to 30 or 60
Excellent presentation. I love a tutorial that shows you SETTINGS but also tells you what the best defaults area and what ones to leave unchanged! MY biggest challenge after watching this was to get my Panasonic VXF1 HandyCam connected to my Mac/OBS (bought the Elgato dongle...et voila!). Next step is to setup OBS with WIX "Live"...
Thanks for this awesome video! I am a total tech head but this OBS interface had me STUMPED until I found you... Had no idea about the scenes and transitions and couldn't work out what Studio mode was. THANK YOU!
👏🙏😃 Thank you so much! I am a beginner content creator. I have 30 years of Great Experience from my Career to share with the World but I have struggled for 3 days to figure this out. I'm the guy that has learned Excel, PowerPoint, etc. just from digging in without formal how to training. For some reason today's technology is a bit confusing for me. You made it very clear in a language I could easily understand. Thank you!
Great video! I will definitely refer back when I feel brave enough to embed another screen, or use any other elelments. But my main thing I wanted to learn was simply editing a video - i.e. "snipping" sections out of the middle. It seems like a very basic and easy thing to do, but I don't know how and was hoping to be shown that here. Do you have another video that shows this?
Found your tutorial very helpful getting over some initial learning humps - thank you! Curious - what tool(s) are you using to record this tutorial and specifically, what are you using to highlight the cursor and accent the sections of the UI?
thank you so much. I figured a lot of this out by myself but this video really helped me put it all together in my head. i’m autistic and usually struggle with things like this, but the context you added to each feature was very helpful. keep doing what you do !!
I have not been live streaming but using video editing software and Snagit. This program has a lot of potential but there is a bit of a learning curve with everything. Looks easy enough based on your tutorial so I will play with it a bit. Thanks.
Thank you for your tutorial. After going through and setting up the settings I was confident enough to go live today which went really well i am happy to say. We are based in Sydney and our channel is growing nicely and i really needed to get back to doing live chats which i found helps grow my subscriptions and view rates. As a thank you I mentioned your channel on the live chat and have put a link for people interested to follow. Thank you once again!!!
Thank you, this was perfect, just started messing with OBS Studio last night but needed some more direction. This should be all I need to start recording.
thanks for this helpful video. in Settings -> Output -> Recording -> Video Encoder. I have it on "Hardware" by default. I saw you have it on "Software". What is the difference between the two? Shall I change it to "Software"?
This video is awesome. It's one of several I watched and the only one that really made sense. I've brought up a couple of test scenes for a class I"m teaching. The only thing that isn't covered (by anyone) is how to save your project in OBS studio. I want to save multiple classes so all I have to do is choose the presentation I prepared before hand. There isn't a save option under "file" like with everything else on a Mac. help.
@@Howfinity we love Universal! I've been doing Russian Arm car on a Disney show and some HBO etc. Will send you a text so we can jump on a call and catch up! Have a great weekend and thanks for this great OBS beginner tutorial.
Great video, very clear and to the point, while I need to do is to present UA-cam videos on a second monitor, full screen while in the first monitor I am choosing other videos to present next, can you do a video on how to do that in the smart way, please?
Very helpful, thank you. I'm trying to get my gaming channel started up, and this is going to make a lot of difference for me since I'm starting out with OBS.
This is so far the best video I've seen on this subject. Thanks for posting. One thing that confuses me is in the recording simulation there are multiple repetitions of your image, kind of like a video feedback. Can you or someone explain why there isn't just a single image instead of the repeated image?
Great video. I am thinking of going from Shadowplay to OBS for my gameplay recordings. I don't do livestreaming or audio, is just pure gameplay (timelapse with music overlay)
Thanks ! Learned a lot as I did not know much how to handle OBS. Will have to watch some more to catch on how streaming really works when scheduled ahead of time...
Great tutorial. You have a very clear and easy to understand way of teaching. Subscribed. Now I'm curious what else this guy teaches, I want to learn more from him, I don't care what it is. lol.
You can get the stock videos and overlays I used in this video from Envato Elements. (my affiliate link) 1.envato.market/c/2500859/298927/4662
Please use chapters when making instructional videos....
What did you use to record this tutorial? I notice that I can't have OBS record itself without a video source added to a scene, so I'm wondering what you did to record OBS in a blank state.
How about those yellow overlays that highlight different parts of the screen in yellow. How did you do those? For example at 1:27 and 1:54

Same here!! We can do this 😤
He spoke clearly and a slower pace than others I have watched. Excellent for a real novice into this tech world. Thank you
Dont know about clarity but you could have slowed down playbackspeed
This was way more helpful than other OBS videos I've come across. Thank you for being very clear and easy to follow!
Agree...! I was about to buy another software but now I think I can manage with this !
Thank you! Starting a channel finally. Just built a computer that can handle recording, editing and streaming. Yay!
mostly easier because it was made more recently
OBS is not user friendly, however when you learn it it's actually really good plus no watermarks.
Maybe you could do a more in-depth video to help make obs more user friendly
Any tips to help make more user friendly ❓
What's not user friendly about it? I think everything makes sense.
Strange how once you learn to use something, it gets easier.
