Let a kid see my cards on the bus when I was 9, he proceeded to let everyone pass them around, was definitely missing my Toon World card when I got them back.
Somehow I love those. They seem classy, even if they are kinda new, because they originated in the early days of Yu-Gi-Oh! where most concepts were more interesting. The whole archetype is pretty alternative AND was played by Pegasus who I personally liked! Yes, I also found them cooler than Toon Monsters.
I really like the fact that you pointed out the milenium cards in Pegasus deck vs the toon cards and what they represent. Think that is a really important detail Snd I missed it until now. Good catch
Relinquished is my favorite card in the game. The guy who got me into the game many years ago used this card alot, and being me who diddnt pay much attention to what was going on, thought this was the best and most broken card in the game. I finally got one when my other friend who just happened to have a 1st edition one "gave" it to me.
I never knew these cards also reflected Pegasus's dark side when I was young. That's actually a good parallel between the Toons and Reatricts. It also kind of makes sense that he stopped using them after Duelist Kingdom since his darkness was leaving him and he started to redeem himself. Honestly I'm kind of glad they kept Pegasus alive in the Anime continuity, not just because of Darren Dustan's magnificent performance, but also because he probably does want to fully wash his hands clean from all that he's done.
Relinquished and Thousand-Eyes Restrict had some of the coolest card art in the history of the game, I remember getting the Pegasus Starter Deck and seeing that bad boy slapped on the front, it was dope as fuck
I like that Pegasus was like "yay, let's have fun everybody hahahahaha look at my silly and fun looking cards. Aren't they all precious?" But after yugi got him slittly cornered he immediately whent to "oh the little twink wants to throw down? Fine!" And summons this thing, straight from Satans nightmares.
I still have a 1st edition I kept in a plastic sleeve. I just thought it looked cool. I need to go get my container of cards tbh. Apparently all those 1st editions are worth money now.
I still have my both relinquished and thousand eyes restrict, i keep 'em like a treasure, but they aren't so expensive in unlimited but in 1st ed you should give some happy paper for it.
I didn't predict the transition into Skillshare's sponsorship well done! I hate when people "pause" the video to "say a few words" this still kept the momentum going well done man!
"basically an upside down Relinquish" .... Why didn't I noticed that before, though it goes to show how good Relinquish design is that even then it still looks cool
No it doesnt look like Relinquished. If you look closer, anima has different body shape, his hands goes from the top while OG relinquished from the bottom, anima has 2 spikes, different wings. If you still are not able to see, flip upside down anima and compare it to OG. Anima has different Relinquished design.
What really got me hooked into Yugioh was the artwork. This archetype have some really biblical/lovecraftian beings probs inspired by berserk and such and I love it.
I really like it when old anime-Characterdecks get a glow up like Pegasus, Weevil, Marko and Keith. So I'm happy you made this video and would love if you make more videos to the glow-Up archtypes :D
I have battled duellists which this deck several times online and it works well: The problem cards are Millenium-Eyes Illusionist and Super Polymerisation as they can removed my monster from the field before they even start to battle. One of my favourite counter strategies is effect destruction with cards like Mirror Force as well as hand destruction with cards like Ante.
Yugioh didn’t change magic cards to spell cards because of “potential” legal issues. Wizards of the Coast was perfectly fine to share the term “magic card” with its protégé Yugioh, unfortunately Konami got greedy and decided to try to trademark the term “magic card” at which point forcing WotC to put their foot down. Threatened with a lawsuit, Konami was forced to settle and changed the term to “spell card”, perhaps shaken and wanting to avoid the same type of TCG legal battle that had transpired between WotC and Nintendo a few years earlier.
Relinquished has always been my second favorite card (after Blue-Eyes) and as such it is the second deck I built. Currently, my Relinquished Deck is sharing space with the Skull Servant type deck. Advanced Ritual Arts sends a Skull Servant from the Deck as a Ritual Summon material for Relinquished. The deck also uses Gravity Bind and Level Limit Area B to keep all monsters over Level 3 from attacking. It is... okay in a non-tournament sense, but I still love it. Weirdly, although Thousand Eyes Restrict is there, too, it is never a good idea to play it -- Relinquished does fine clearing the board, but Thousand Eyes stops ALL other monster from attacking. My mighty Jerry Beans Man never gets to do anything then.
12:43 I'm so glad you mentioned that. I have an original Thousand-Eyes Restrict, and growing up I always assumed Relinquished is better because the equipped card is destroyed instead and your opponent takes the damage as well, meaning it can equip a monster to it more than once.
"Let's change it to SPELL. That'll make less confusion." Oh, boy. That confused me MORE! Cuz I originally thought Magic and Spell cards were different forms (grew up with 5Ds and later) then the anime kept saying "Magic Card" (1st series) and i was going "What are Magic Cards!?!"
Omg I had a friend that thought magic cards and spell cards were different and he got so mad when I played d spell. I knew magic card and spell cards were the same because I knew magic the gathering. The kid was so cocky because he had jinzo. This was when jinzo 1st came out. He thought he could beat my sister, myself and are other friend. On a 3 vs 1. I alone could have beaten him but cause of his rules and cry baby ways we always questioned him and went along with it
I only started seeing Magic and Spell cards after I'd stopped being particularly into the game, and they got filtered into my collection though trades or friends just giving their cards away. I never knew what, if any, difference there was.
I used to include 1000 Eyes in my Exodia deck. Easy to get out with Metamorphosis and any of the arms/legs, or if Meta was in GY, flip the Magician of Faith to get it back and then use her as tribute. Nice way to lock opponent down and digest an effect monster causing problems. Heck, slip em a Lava Golem to destroy 2 monsters and then suck it back up so 1000eyes has 3000 attack.
As someone who owns a Millennium-Eyes Illusionist, I love how it looks like it's about to punch you in the face, despite not having any attack points whatsoever.

Millennium eye restrict was my first expensive card I got when I got back into yu-gi-oh. And now he have 2 after the Joey and Pegasus box. Of course different rarity
So I love using a pure Relinquished deck and honestly it works pretty well. What I've found is that all the relinquished monsters and spells kinda play into each other. For example you can utilize Millennium Eyes Restricts quick effect to actually overrule another monsters effect. Such as Red Dragon Archfiends, I found this out as if you make them use their effect, Millennium Eyes Quick Effect takes priority and will take the card before it's effect can resolve. So if you put in some cycling cards and a still play around rituals you're actually able to infinitely cycle them out which is pretty strong.
I know we got Toon Chaos in the TCG relatively recently but something I've been wanting for a few years now is an updated version of Pegasus' starter deck. Maybe a structure deck? That sort of duality you described, between his innocent and darker side was rather well-reflected in the starter deck. You had your toon monsters, but there was a hint of some dark stuff in there with Relinquished.
In my deck, assuming I could still find it from 10+ Years ago, I had Relinquished, Thousand Eyes Restrict and the materials to summon it out. Never got to really play with the deck but the first cards I remember getting and enjoying just cus of the effect and art.
In the old days, Relinquished and Thousand Eyes Restrict were obscenely op because they were used to just snatch an opponent's boss monster, requiring another, stronger boss monster to run over it AND a second summon to take it out or else it would just snatch the other summoned monster in an endless loop if you were short on special summons. Cards like Dark Hole and Raigeki were more or less required to kill them, especially Thousand Eyes Restrict who negated attacking. Nowadays people can summon an entire board of lvl 8-9s in one ludicrous combo using a hundred different special summons with tons of non-attacking removal, powercreeping the Eyes Restricts to oblivion. It's a bit shocking just how much power creep has happened.
@@joshuakim5240 I used it solely back then to force my friends to think, outside the box instead of just dmg rushing me(I also abused magic cylander). Relinquished will ALWAYS be my favorite troll monster.

Fun fact you never mentioned - The first release of Relinquished never had any text stating which Ritual Card could summon it. You can see it clearly at 7:10. The Errata it received later on was not to make the text more understandable but rather to actually include the Ritual Card conditions.

I always took these cards as being Pegasus' answer to the God cards. He couldn't use them himself, so he created (possibly using his Millennium Eye's magic) the "Thousand Eyes" cards and support.
I actually have a concept for archetype support I did a while back, just fetched so here it is. Relinquished Chaos DARK ☆ 1 [Spellcaster / Ritual / Effect] ATK/0 DEF/0 LBDT-029 You can Ritual Summon this card with "Chaos Illusion Ritual". Once per turn (Quick-Effect): You can target 1 monster your opponent controls; equip that target to this card, but destroy it during the end of the next Battle Phase (Max. 2). This card's ATK/DEF becomes equal to the ATK/DEF of all monsters equipped to it. This card cannot be destroyed by battle, also any battle damage you take when this card attacks is taken by your opponent instead. You can only Ritual Summon "Relinquished Chaos" once per turn. Chaos Illusion Ritual [Ritual Spell] LBDT-030 This card is used to Ritual Summon any "Relinquished" Ritual monster. You must also return an "Illusionist" monster from your GY to your hand or banish a "LIGHT" or "DARK" monster with a Level from either player's GY. If "Relinquished" or "Relinquished Chaos" is Special Summoned to your side of the field: You can banish this card from your GY, activate the following effect: • Negate the effects of an opponent's monster.
I use instant fusion and mileneum eyes restrict to block hand traps such as ash blossom, it's kinda nice cause if they have a monster at the correct spot too you get to remove 2 cards and don't even lose 1, the only reason I'd say it's better than called by the grave or crossout designator is because you get the extra special summon making it easier to set up your link summons and get to the big monsters easily, although with everyone using the adventurer engine everyone had like 4 synchro monsters out turn 1 anyway, but it can still be helpful

Let a kid see my cards on the bus when I was 9, he proceeded to let everyone pass them around, was definitely missing my Toon World card when I got them back.
So this is the biblicaly accurate angel archetype
Somehow I love those. They seem classy, even if they are kinda new, because they originated in the early days of Yu-Gi-Oh! where most concepts were more interesting. The whole archetype is pretty alternative AND was played by Pegasus who I personally liked! Yes, I also found them cooler than Toon Monsters.
These cards are prefect if you have an eye fetish.
I am waiting for the Millenium Feet archetype
Millenium eye = eye fetish
Millenium rod = ???
Jeeez xd
I see you fit your title well
I really like the fact that you pointed out the milenium cards in Pegasus deck vs the toon cards and what they represent. Think that is a really important detail Snd I missed it until now. Good catch
he may not have 1000 eyes but he sure is my idol :'(

Relinquished is my favorite card in the game. The guy who got me into the game many years ago used this card alot, and being me who diddnt pay much attention to what was going on, thought this was the best and most broken card in the game. I finally got one when my other friend who just happened to have a 1st edition one "gave" it to me.
same, I loved playing these cards when I was young.
Why the quotes on gave?
@@Jdb63 Pretty sure I took it from him and forgot about it for a few years. Once I found out about it years later he diddnt seem to care
@@glennquagmire8345 Ah gotcha, nice 😂
6:06 ok i just noticed were it real head is i thought it eye was it head but i just noticed it small head on top of it after all this years
Ah yes...shit's about to get real. This guys are one of my favorite cards ever
Mine too
I've always wanted him
Yeah they're really fun to play. Its just so satisfying yoinking your opponents monster. Lol.
Finally another Trivia... I can't live without his Trivia. I almost died over the past few weeks.
"Speaking of boss monsters we have-"
UA-cam: *ifood*
I got that exact same ad to.
I got "Finally this archerype has one unique spell card to call its own and that is:.."
UBEREATS
SAME
In my case… it was Charming Toilet Paper
I got no ads, did UA-cam demonitize it?
Not gonna lie, I always thought these monsters seriously look like they'd fit in a Soulsborne or a Bayonetta game
Illusionist Faceless Magician is just Pinwheel.
That sacrifice sword looked like that Soul Caliber weapon.
Why would you lie about that?
Well yeah eldritch style monster be eldritch.
What no love for DMC? Lol
Ah relinquished... My old friend and biggest mistake in my yugioh game life. Tell me I wasn’t the only person who traded the card at a young age.
I traded mine for a comic book
Bruh I kept it just because it's blue. And till this day, ritual monster is rare.
I was on the opposite end. I traded it for Black Skull Dragon (1st Edition). Worth it.
I didn't predict the transition into Skillshare's sponsorship well done! I hate when people "pause" the video to "say a few words" this still kept the momentum going well done man!
"basically an upside down Relinquish"
....
Yessssss the 12 year old in me that obsessed over Relinquished after I saw it in the anime has been waiting for this since I found this channel
Same, but I was 9
What really got me hooked into Yugioh was the artwork. This archetype have some really biblical/lovecraftian beings probs inspired by berserk and such and I love it.
That was the best I intro to Skill Share was just perfect. Keep it up.
I literally saw it coming too
We blundered right into his trap card.
That was the biggest stretch for a Segway to an ad I have ever heard
Dude pulled it off, though.
i love how two of my favorite cards are the most basic, most complicated and most devastating cards in yu gi oh;
Relinquished and the pot of greed
I think my biggest problem with the faceless magician is the fact it has 2 faces
maybe the doll heads are accessories?
@@ssgamez6084 well, actually, I love it when my monsters accessorize. I’m back in on Illusionist Faceless Magician
I really like it when old anime-Characterdecks get a glow up like Pegasus, Weevil, Marko and Keith. So I'm happy you made this video and would love if you make more videos to the glow-Up archtypes :D
Konami: starts watching the video
TGS Anime: Purely Dark monsters
Konami: new set of eye restrict (non-dark monter support XD)
Relinquished was my favorite card when I started playing YuGiOh in 2005 and still is to this day. Seeing the support it got is truly very cool.
Ya know I stopped playing yugioh ages ago...but the idea of playing a super relinquished deck is actually making me wanna pick it back up again...
"Let's change it to SPELL. That'll make less confusion."
Oh, boy. That confused me MORE! Cuz I originally thought Magic and Spell cards were different forms (grew up with 5Ds and later) then the anime kept saying "Magic Card" (1st series) and i was going "What are Magic Cards!?!"
I thought “Magic Card” was just a way to group together Spell and Trap Cards
"There are 3 types of card, magic, spell and trap" back in my day of playing until i knew they spell and magic where the same
Omg I had a friend that thought magic cards and spell cards were different and he got so mad when I played d spell.
How about the Rose archetype next?
What about the Rose Dragon archetype?
@@Cindy67917 part of the rose archetype
Rose archetype? That Knospe guy?
@@Xaiff no lmao
I used to include 1000 Eyes in my Exodia deck. Easy to get out with Metamorphosis and any of the arms/legs, or if Meta was in GY, flip the Magician of Faith to get it back and then use her as tribute. Nice way to lock opponent down and digest an effect monster causing problems. Heck, slip em a Lava Golem to destroy 2 monsters and then suck it back up so 1000eyes has 3000 attack.
The more you stare at the cards, the deeper the eyes of the Restrict Monsters look at your soul.
As someone who owns a Millennium-Eyes Illusionist, I love how it looks like it's about to punch you in the face, despite not having any attack points whatsoever.
for those two magic cards, id love to see a yugioh seires that tells a story from the monsters point of view, betcha relinquished is a sweetheart uwu
What was that egyptian music that played when pegasus received the millennium eye? 3:47
Desert Caravan by Aaron Kenny
TGS anime : no one will ever ban you for learning and improving a new skill
Me: spends thousands of hours of learning long distance shooting only for hunting to be outlawed months later
Where is hunting illegal??
So no one is gonna talk about the fact that Pegasus was married at or before he was SEVENTEEN YEARS OLD
The Chad Pegasus.
What?
Meanwhile at 21 I haven’t even been on a date :(
Its_ Me here’s my tone of advice for ya, don’t give up, don’t lose hope. You’ll find someone, or more likely, someone will find you ;) just keep pushing forward :D
@@archangelamber666 took me 10 sec of google to find the source of the line you pasted xD dont you think thats kinda cruel, throwing these platitudes at people
Millenium-Eyes Restrict looks SO CRAZY. Plus its effects are off the charts bonkers!
The real reason why pegasus loves cartoons so much is that, unlike his wife, they can never die.
that was probably one of the smoothest add transitions.
I just feel bad for Pegasus When I learned he was the sympathetic I think It brought me to tears
You know, now I low-key want to see a Toon Relinquished lol
I believe the word "Thousand" in some languages is also used to represent just "Many"
When I was young I remember using relinquished. It definitely was insanely strong.
3. Eyes Restrict
2. Ra (especially because of the slime supports)
1. Evil-HEROES (underrated asf)
Sent me back in time with this one, I totally forgot spell cards used to be called magic cards!
Thank u for reminding me y Pegasus is a amazing character and the way u read it paints the picture so well
Millennium eye restrict was my first expensive card I got when I got back into yu-gi-oh. And now he have 2 after the Joey and Pegasus box. Of course different rarity
I made an Eyes Restrict deck in EDO. I’ve been crushing modern decks ever since.
Aaaah, relinquished. To this day, still my favorite card. It was the core in my first deck! I still have it.
It’s such a missed opportunity that “relinquished anima” wasn’t called “Relinkuished”
PLEEEAAAASE DO THE TRIVIA OF THE MAYAKASHI ARQUETYPE. I know it's a dead arquetype in duel links (pun intended), but i would greatly apreciate it.
I remember in duel links infancy, relinquishe was tier one ❤️
I wonder if he got pink eyed from all of those kuribos
Both Pink Eye and dysphasia 😂
Pegasus deck is not much changed despite they have new supports; Toon still sucks since it is a very old dry deck
In my deck, assuming I could still find it from 10+ Years ago, I had Relinquished, Thousand Eyes Restrict and the materials to summon it out. Never got to really play with the deck but the first cards I remember getting and enjoying just cus of the effect and art.
Eyes restrict is a fun deck to play casually with your friends. Paired with kaiju they're a lot of fun
The biggest plot twist in Yu-Gi-Oh was that Maximilian Pegasus had a wife
Funny I remember using both relinquish and thousand eye restricted in one of the games and they was overpowered as hell.
I hovered over the thumbnail with my mouse and saw a quick glimpse of Sam doing his usual outdoor tomfoolery when he includes an ad in his video and instantly knew I was in for gold. I was not disappointed.
Yes! I bought Pegasus's Deck more than a decade ago. Love relinquished.
Such good memories, I remember running Relinquished on my main deck while playing Yu-Gi-Oh GX Duel Academy for gba
Fun fact you never mentioned - The first release of Relinquished never had any text stating which Ritual Card could summon it. You can see it clearly at 7:10. The Errata it received later on was not to make the text more understandable but rather to actually include the Ritual Card conditions.
I would really love to see a Yu-Gi-Oh! Trivia on the Sky Striker Archetype. That would actually be amazing! Thank you for the content you provide, It's so different to what is out there. Keep up the good work!
You're in luck
I have a Relinquished x Jinzo deck I take on ranked matches in Master Duel, they do surprisingly well together!
THAT WAS A SMOOTH LINE OF ADVERTISEMENT IN VIDEO, MAN, 🤣🤣🤣
I always took these cards as being Pegasus' answer to the God cards. He couldn't use them himself, so he created (possibly using his Millennium Eye's magic) the "Thousand Eyes" cards and support.
I guess I’m here 😅 this is actually my favorite arcatype along with toons
Don't worry I'm here to.
Relinquished was what helped made me get my nationals debut and was my anti-Synchro strategy with Djinn Releaser of Rituals. Good times...
I hope this archetype gets new support and maybe a new Ritual Spell.
A new Ritual Monster would be great too.
One in line with the "Chaos" retrain of Ritual Monsters 🤔
@@cardboard.sp00n19 I was actually thinking the same thing.
@@cardboard.sp00n19 Chaos Sacrifice? Whew, the name would be scary enough.

This card is used to Ritual Summon any "Relinquished" Ritual monster. You must also return an "Illusionist" monster from your GY to your hand or banish a "LIGHT" or "DARK" monster with a Level from either player's GY. If "Relinquished" or "Relinquished Chaos" is Special Summoned to your side of the field: You can banish this card from your GY, activate the following effect:
• Negate the effects of an opponent's monster.
Relinquished is my absolute favourite Yugioh monster. I’m so happy you made a trivia video about him. He’s always my main deck.😁😁😁
The coolest card in yugioh history.
These archetypes videos are always interesting, and is a nice way to learn about some cards or ideas for a deck. Could we maybe get one for super heavy samurai? I don’t think their archetype have been showcased yet.
These videos are great, Sam 👍. Really like the classic archetypes
I've been waiting for this archetype for a long time I love this video I love the thousand eyes
I blame the Relinquish card for my addiction to buying cards. My first ever yu gi oh pack back in like 2003 had him. It was so crazy getting him right after watching it being played in the show
