    world tooltips delay should probably be on 0% or very low, so hovering over treasures tells you instantly what it contains instead of having to wait for it to show the information

      @@AussieDrongo It's really impressive then cause the production quality is top notch. I understand you do have a lot of AOE3 experience but you sound like you also have a lot of video making experience.

    There's a built-in FPS counter in Steam, if you go to Settings->In-Game->In-game FPS counter. It's quite subtle, but you can pick what corner to put it in and there's also a high contrast option, so it works for most games. If you have an nVidia GPU you can also get an FPS counter through GeForce Experience, but I find that a lot more distracting and in the way.

    @Aussie_Drongo There's a good option to turn on and is on Accessibility the first on called HUD Alert, every time some unit you own gets attacked your screen gets a gentle white border to alert you, its good when you don't see your vills getting attacked or your explorer is left by his own on some place in the map.

    Great point about training one unit at a time, until it's nearly done, to increase the efficiency of rss management. Do you apply this in mid-/late-game as well or do you just use it early?
    Would also appriciate a more in-depth vid about what to do with those "unused" rss, and further, prioritizing/balancing massing vs unit upgrades, rss collecting upgrades etc.
    Keep up the good work. All your vids are super helpful!

    Another setting I find useful is economy gather point for town centers. This way you can right click for your settler gather point and use your hotkey for your military shipment.

    Great tutorial, I learnt that some of my settings weren't the best. One small thing : I wouldn't recommand enabling the easy drag military because it makes it much harder to fight with villagers then. Some top players play with that option but if you're playing Japan or brit and need to with villagers in melee to defend your base, it's going to be difficult.

    If youre playing on steam there is a setting in steam in-game settings to show FPS.

    In game options, hotkeys snap to unit should be off so you can use building hotkeys to quickly queue units or techs without moving your screen or having to put them on a control group.
    Tooltip delays should be lowest so you can hover over a treasure or enemy building construction site and immediately see what it is without waiting for the tooltip.

    How do you adjust the font size of text like "+10 exp" or "divine strike" ? There are no ingame options which change the size of this font size. However, for some reason the exp text in my game is much smaller than it is in the non-DE version. Also whenever I watch a streamer or a video, everyone else seems to have the usual sized font of exp. Only for me, its very small.
    I have already tried UI scaling, resolution, uninstalling, reinstalling. Nothing changes the font size of exp text. However this is very important because it makes it possible to gauge how well you are doing in a fight.

    I know you didn't talk about them but in the accessibility tab but you can also change the color of each player should you find the colors problematic for your vision. This tab is kind of a nice addition to the game as I always found some of the colors a bit hard to see in 8 player FFA games

    Is there a command to specifically get an easy drag military or easy drag villagers? AoE2 DE has that, I think it was by dragging while holding ALT key to select villagers only, and same with CTRL key to select military only.

      This setting for me is automatically turned on. The military units get sorted from the villagers as soon as you drag them.

    I have obscured unit alpha on 100% and it still doesn't make units visible behind buildings and stuff.. like its not working at all.

    You said that camera dragging is an ineffective way of moving the screen but there are more and more professional players from other games (especially MOBAs) using this method. The fact that you can move the camera without moving your cursor all the way to the edge of the screen can be a huge advantage and you can mitigate the effect of accidentally using it by left-clicking your attack moves instead.

    I'm really excited to see your hotkey video when it comes out. Hotkeys make or break a game, more often than not games come out with completely nonsensical default hotkeys, with combinations of keypresses that are absurdly positioned and unlikely to be pressed (for the important things too!). I reckon this has to do with the developers of the game not actually trying and making an effort to see how bad the default layout is.
    Any good hotkey setup has to have most hotkeys centered around the left hand positioning, as the right hand would always be kept on the mouse. If the left hand position is around the left side of the keyboard, hotkeys like UIOJKL and further are bad because they'd require shifting the hand position during gameplay.
    I tried out the new grid layout for AOE3DE and I gotta say it's quite an improvement as far as learnability and accessibility for some things, and thank god we can unbind hotkeys, no more num9 spam in the hotkey menu. There are still however certain keys that have a role but cannot be unbound, they aren't listed in the menu, for example the tab key, I couldn't find where to rebind it to NOT swap between units in the current selection, or to cycle between home city shipments.
    I got to a point using the default(grid based) layout with a lot of extra modifications, not sure it's optimal, but it works for me, I've unbound a lot of keys, rebound control groups 6-9 to the f1-f4 keys, (alt+f4 - didn't use those alt hotkey combos so I unbound) capslock for home city shipments, since you press it twice, once to enter and a second time to go back, Ctrl+Q is now my find town center for villagers(default it finds houses... very useful) with Q for training vills(by default) and ctrl+shift+Q for finding idles, explorer on ctrl+shift+W, ctrl+W finds dock for fishing ships, ctrl+E for trading posts to rebind shipments quickly. Sadly the unit action keys (default to the keys in the UIJK area) are complete horseshit as far as position consistency goes, sometimes unit delete is on k, other times it's on I, etc. so I just unbound all of them. Ctrl+shift+A for attack move, my theme I've used ctrl+shift+key to signify a Unit command, ctrl+key to find buildings, key as default for grid usage.
    Really hope they'd let us alter the building grid(but I have my doubts they would) so we could position the more often used buildings so our hotkeys would work better with the grid system.

      It shakes the entire field of view when some building gets demolished in a battle etc. Makes it more immersive to some.

    The only thing I dont like about the graphical update is it looks like the direction was to go more cartoonish where 2 had amped up the filter over the highly rendered buildings which was a mistake.
    It works for 4 because the way everything is rendered and maybe even the engine is different and is tailored to the system.
    3 puts all of these civs, practically, in some grounded style. The architecture is very colonial except for the expansions which are placed during the heights of their histories.
    Why would you go chunky flat when China Japan India Spain and France are all decadent. It's one strength the CC version had despite the awful bloom that lazily masked everything.
    If someone makes a mod. There should be a way to recreate the game and increased the tenders and polygons of each asset. More detail is better. Maybe not optimal for gameplay but if you're here for the gameplay then this matters not at all to you.
    2de did a wonderful job of balancing gameplay and accurate and wonderful architecture.

    To be honest, aside from obstructed units and foliage, i see no difference. bloom effect does nothing, anti aliasing does nothing wtf O_O
