That is such a great idea, if had had some more money I’d open up a place like that. Bringing everyone from rich to poor and putting them together will change peoples lives
This is not completely clear to me. It leaves me wondering: Do these homeless wake up from their cardboard box on the sidewalk and go work, get fed, and then back to the cardboard box on the street to sleep at night? Is there no farm where people sleep (like cowboys on a ranch), eat, work and live?
As the saying goes "Teach a Man To Fish, and You Feed Him for a Lifetime", this is great for San Francisco! However, the problem is, not all homeless people want to work and not all of them are and others are addicted to drugs. Why work, when tourist can just give you a buck. Stack up all the money and they probably make more than an average minimum wage work. Not to mention, rising housing prices, expensive food, etc. Point is, it great that the FHI is doing this, it just... there also other things that causes these problems. One step at a time thought. So progress. I guess.
lenny mcready While i do not have the statistics, this is true in some cases. While others want to work and go forward in life, there are those that would rather prefer to beg and earn. They've not only become used to it now but they actually earn a lot more begging than a minimum wage job/jobs
lenny mcready Maybe you didn't bother to properly read my comment! I mentioned very clearly that i don't have statistics. But the comment that started this thread is true. He says that while there are hard workers who are homeless due to economic and other problems there is also this mentality that exists among a significant number of homeless people. If you want exact numbers please google or go conduct a census
As a former homeless person I can attest to how these kind of "programs" are usually run.....I can bet you dollars to donuts that the homeless here either are not being paid at all or are paid a pittance for their labor in return for "job training". Meanwhile the owners reap a profit on free or low cost labor and loads of government and private grant money.........duping tons of "socially conscious" customers who think they are doing good thing. Poverty Inc in action.
+Daniel Herrera In any case, those meals were very much lacking in the protein they need to recover from strenuous work. Especially the older folks. If they're making money they can afford to give the workers some meat or something.
Michael Sherman That is because they are hipster dreamer types who live in a world of unicorns and rainbows and have a weak grasp of the problem they are dealing with(homelessness). They don't understand realities like nutrition. They sincerely believe they can save all people in San Fran from homelessness by teaching them all how be Instagram Trendy Biodynamic Permaculture Beyond Organic Aquaponic Urban Farmers and Pintrest Fabulous Raw Vegan Farm To Table Food Truck Chefs. That's why they are teaching them this nonesense rather than actual marketable trades that are in demand or helping them go to college to get a nicer paying job. That is not cool and hip enough! In the end this kinda of thing does more harm than good.
I am going to tell Alex Jones that you are an intergalactic child molester here to congregate with the reptiles and ultimately take out Alex Jones because he is spilling the beans.
Nice sentiment but this program doesn't really help that much....if your not a celebrity chef restaurant work is some of the lowest wage work around. It is a brutal business. Same with agriculture. Not gonna get off the streets picking vegetables for a living. Teaching low wage job skills to people is not gonna do much good for the homeless in San Francisco when you can't even afford to rent a closet working 80 hour weeks on a minimum wage salary there. People need housing they can afford.
This channel is the best on UA-cam! Ty for all you do!
Kitten Ivy
Agreed, these videos are so interesting
Gathering with goodwill and positive people is key to surmount the depth of depression and despairs 😀
It's wonderful that they're learning great skills
This should be implemented worldwide !!!
This channel deserves billion subscribers 👍
it's my absolute favorite discovery this year.
Think of how much difference it would make if more places / people did this. Very inspiring, thank you.
People like this is what makes me proud of being human
Its truly about connecting to communicate with one another that brings forth whats been there all along....understanding. “Growth itself contains the germ of happiness and from it, we all can grow."
I've been in this program. These folks are awesome.
hope something like this can be sustainable here in NYC too.
Helping others to help themselves. Well done! 👍
Admirable, to say the least.
Respect from the UK.
I'm not homeless but hopeless in life and I want to work in that farm 😊
I hope this idea grows as much as it is sorely needed
I'd love to see this replace the food stamp program for those who can do it. So much healthier, both physically and mentally.
0:45 that is the most beautiful art i've ever seen on the fence behind him
This is the world we need
Amazing! Let's go planting!
This is so lovely to see, very wholesome. More like it, keep up the good work!
This is how “helping the homeless”videos should be on UA-cam, not giving them money to fish out a reaction, praise and sympathy.
What a valiant and valuable cause! Very inspiring!
This is very nice. Big ups to these people 👍👍
That is such a great idea, if had had some more money I’d open up a place like that. Bringing everyone from rich to poor and putting them together will change peoples lives
Everyone is great in their own way.
awesome helping to feed and provide skills training for the homeless
You’re doing great work
Love this!!! Well done!
I think more communities should have neighborhood gardens for the community to bond and grow, nice
a first class meal/cuisine for those in need :D
Was about to sleep but let's watch
This is beautiful 🙏🏾
Superb. Keep up the excellent work.
This touches my heart 🙂 keep it up!
They are indirectly giving them homes 1000000000000000/10
What’s the background piano music at around 1:25?

This is like less sad, present story corps
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you'll feed him for a lifetime.
BOO WELLS FARGO
0:46 Did she just eat a flower? I think know who my favorite person is now
❤️
Give a homeless man an apple they’ll be satisfied for a day... teach a homeless man to farm they’ll be satisfied for the rest of their life
Great move bro

Nothing ever happens quickly. Any step forward is a good one.
Do you have statistics about homeles people not wanting to work?
Also, you can work but still homeless.

Shamil Arifeen how much is SOME? I can also say that SOME smokers don't get cancer and thus smoking isn't harmless

Training homeless people to work as serfs, farming organic food for Silicon Valley dorks that priced them out of their housing

too bad even if they did get full time jobs... san fransisco is pretty much impossible to live in if you don't make 100k a year or more
7 dollar soup and 2 eggs for 4 dollars. Is that usual for San Francisco? I know it's expensive but sheesh.
17th, water you gone do about it?
I am going to tell Alex Jones that you are an intergalactic child molester here to congregate with the reptiles and ultimately take out Alex Jones because he is spilling the beans.
