Most Batman villains tend to have a tragic origin, the difference is that some of them still have the ability to love. There's something special about Mr Freeze, he cares about Nora. I doubt othere villains like, say... Joker or Penguin would have that much humanity.

Outside of the sad and beautifully poignant nature of BTAS's reinvention of the character... I always loved the fact that he choose to be *Mister* freeze rather than Doctor Freeze. Despite using his scientific knowledge to build his suit and gun, he clearly considered the nature of his actions to be those of Victor Fries the man, rather than Doctor Fries the scientist. Because what he was doing was entirely personal. I like to think that he also considered how the impact of so many supervillains using 'doctor' affects other scientists and medical practitioners, since he is such a logical guy in general.
Also love how Freeze immediately called Terry 'Batman' without hesitation.....even though it was obvious it was a different person (smaller body, different voice). He didn't question it for an instant. Shared Respect.
Such a great theme , great design, great writing honestly batman the animated series is just one of the greatest cartoons of all time. The Mr freeze specifically in this show is one of my favorite villains. Every line he says is beautifully sad poetry and while there’s a lot of tragedy in the show mr freeze really hits hard in particular .

That’s just one more reason I didn’t care for the New Adventures. I prefer the continuity of “The Batman Adventures” comics. 😒

That's what I always HATED about The New Batman Adventures in that episode, they took a perfect ending and just ruin it, I don't know if it counts as a "retcon" but that's what it feels like
TBF if it's the DC AU, Nora did wait for over a year for Victor to come back to her. She had no way of knowing he was alive but had discovered he was rotting away and looking for a way to stabilize himself.

Winter is beautiful and majestic with the snow and white Christmas, but it's also cold and harsh when the ruthless blizzards come for you. Kinda like Mr. Freeze's story. It's beautiful in a way but tragic, ultimately.

I am starting to write a script for a batman Heart of Ice fan movie and I just thought about how Mr. Freeze's theme should have Christmas vibes/Danny Elfman vibes to it. I hate how the writers of Batman's comics in this decade basically destroyed the tragedy of this backstory to make Mr. Freeze into some controlling toxic Husband(with him saying something along the lines off "I don't want her out there spending MY money with other MEN"). Then there was that time when he finally got Nora back, but they made Nora addicted to the life of crime, so he felt like it would be best to re-coma her for both her and other people's safety. All around, I hate how current comic book writers took this beautifully tragic character/relationship/story and satirized him back to being the big joke that he was before BTAS
