Thank you Shirley for these masterpieces along with the birth of Batman theme, the ending movie theme, animated series theme and the adventures of Batman and Robin theme Rip to you and Kevin Conroy.
0:32 leading into the choir there always makes me think of my favorite scene from Mask. Shirley was and still is a legend. I can only echo Alfred. "My God."
Why dont ppl understand that THIS MUSIC REPRESENTS BATMAN. It bring me chills. Its shows darkness. Batman though having alfred, catwoman, robin etc is always the hero with the darkest past and is always truely alone.
As stupid as this sounds, it gives me the feeling that there was always something more to the Batman. More than just Bruce Wayne. More than just one man's crusade again injustice and his quest to right a city full of wrongs. Something more than just a man in a costume was born that night Bruce put on the Batsuit. It was born of evil, injustice, darkness and illness of the mind, but all it seeks to do is good. The Batman is more than just an image, or a suit, or a man behind a mask. It's that part of all of us that shouts out into the darkness for all that is evil to be destroyed. It's the part of humanity that rights the evils that have been done, even though it's born out of a place of hatred or anger. It is the good part of darkness that is unlike the rest of the shadows. It is vengeance and justice incarnate. It is Batman.
The haunted nature of this theme makes it all at once heroic, tragic, and terrifying. Without words any words at all, it conveys the character almost as much as seeing him in a comic book would. Even someone unfamiliar with the character just hearing this, I’m betting they’d imagine someone or something scary but heroic.
This show changed so many lives. It changed animated TV. Before BTAS, cartoons were your typical affair with the villain of the week and the purpose was to sell toys. BTAS gave these villains backstories and got across that not everyone is born evil but we are broken by tragedy, our circumstances and everyone is capable of having a bad day. A generation of children from different races, cultures and other backgrounds that watched this show are now grown with their own children and helping others in their communities as lawyers, doctors, firefighters, cops etc. Not because they could be Batman, but because of Batman’s ideal which is to help others. Thank you for everything Mr. Conroy.
2:29 really hits the note just right for Shirley Walker Batman theme it sounds sad but yet heroic, even with scenes with a lot of thugs in the room and it's dark, when you hear this theme kick in, you know who is coming I love it!! He is Vengeance! He is the Night!! He is.... Batman!!
Fun fact: When Shirley Walker reworked Danny Elfman's Batman theme, she did in such a way that when she needed it to sound sad or to sound triumphant, she would only need to change 2 notes.
Shirley Walker made my Childhood awesome, This theme whenever kicks in it surges a feeling of heroism and adventure. Also as a fact Hans Zimmer was a synthesizer in this movie.
Not always. There are plenty of more light-hearted or at the very least versions of him that does enjoy being Batman and has a full batfamily that gives him love and support. Unfortunately, we know from Mask of the Phantams and Batman Beyond that DCAU Batman isn’t one of them.
@@rcbmmines4579 although in regards of batman beyond, thats just a potential outcome of Batman's future in dcau, not the definitive outcome (even if it works great for it)
@@alexsapsarras4812 in general? Yes Beyond is just a possible future. In the DCAU? No it’s actually the definitive future. JLU confirms this in Epilogue. Unless we get a new season or an animated movie giving us an alternative, Batman Beyond is the future of the DCAU.
I'm happy I met you earlier this year dude before you passed. I didn't know how to tell you at the moment, but I'll say it now. You didn't voice Batman, You Are Batman. 🦇
One thing to remember about Shirley Walker - she was, and remains, the ONLY composer who has ever written for the very moment that showed Bruce putting on the cowl for the very first time. No other Batman series or movie, before or since, has shown that moment. And she is the one that got to write the score for it. And at 0:30, you hear it.
It's a crazy coincidence that Shirley Walker passed away in 2006 which was the same year the DCAU ended with the final episode of Justice League Unlimited and the very last shot we see at the end was Batman's symbol on his chest.
At 2:17 the crescendo starts, implying the fate that lies on Bruce, then at 2:23 you hear two bangs (Thomas and Martha's death) and the crescendo shortly becomes more intense but not quite at it's highest point, and then at 2:28 you hear a final bang (Implying Andrea) and immediatly after you hear a tragic version of BTAS main theme, and at 2:41 you hear the classic and heroic theme, implying how a hero rises, how Batman holds through besides the tragedies that forged him.
Rest in peace Kevin Conroy. You will always be The Batman.

The music portrays hope real good and it makes me feel like im running on roof tops.
He isn’t truly alone. The Joker is truly alone and that’s what makes them different.
I don't know if you understand batman
The haunted nature of this theme makes it all at once heroic, tragic, and terrifying. Without words any words at all, it conveys the character almost as much as seeing him in a comic book would. Even someone unfamiliar with the character just hearing this, I’m betting they’d imagine someone or something scary but heroic.
What I always loved of Walker’s Batman theme is that it can seamlessly blend into Elfman’s Batman theme. She even demonstrated it once.
The choir sounds so similar to the hunt for red October themes. I love them.
Fun Fact: the choir is singing the names of the people involved in the production of the Mask of the Phantasm in the opening credits

Conroy.
beautifully expressed
Whenever I see Batman, this is the theme I hear. Very haunting and it fits who Batman is very well
RIP Kevin Conroy. Thank you for all that you gave to bring Batman to life. You will always be the Batman we deserve.
Who else came here to Honor Kevin Conroy!! RIP!! YOUR CAPE & COWL WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!
@@Ryan_Thompson_Guitarist cool
I'm crying real tears here listening to this.
Me too man.takes me to a time I didn't have to worry
Shirley Walker was a fantastic composer. Truly a genius.
Shirley Walker made my Childhood awesome, This theme whenever kicks in it surges a feeling of heroism and adventure. Also as a fact Hans Zimmer was a synthesizer in this movie.
I just realized that Batman always has to be dark and miserable for our joy and entertainment.
The jokes on him always HAHAHAHA
Not always. There are plenty of more light-hearted or at the very least versions of him that does enjoy being Batman and has a full batfamily that gives him love and support. Unfortunately, we know from Mask of the Phantams and Batman Beyond that DCAU Batman isn’t one of them.
Adam west batman: am I a joke to you 😂
@@rcbmmines4579 although in regards of batman beyond, thats just a potential outcome of Batman's future in dcau, not the definitive outcome (even if it works great for it)
@@alexsapsarras4812 in general? Yes Beyond is just a possible future. In the DCAU? No it’s actually the definitive future. JLU confirms this in Epilogue. Unless we get a new season or an animated movie giving us an alternative, Batman Beyond is the future of the DCAU.
Hearing this just gives me chills, the feel of it,the power it’s done so beautifully
I'm happy I met you earlier this year dude before you passed. I didn't know how to tell you at the moment, but I'll say it now. You didn't voice Batman, You Are Batman.
🦇
2023 will be The 30th Anniversary of Batman Mask Of The Phantasm
My entire childhood wrapped up in six minutes and fifty seconds god bless whoever made this
Honestly I want a scene in The Batman where he stands on a gargoyle looking at the city.
RIP Shirley Walker, Kevin Conroy and Arleen Sorkin
And with this, we are batman fans forever, rest in peace Kevin Conroy.
It's a crazy coincidence that Shirley Walker passed away in 2006 which was the same year the DCAU ended with the final episode of Justice League Unlimited and the very last shot we see at the end was Batman's symbol on his chest.
Remembering The Late Shirley Walker
i was born in 2006
When I hear this suit I just have chills. This theme is my childhood.
Mask of The Phantasm is the first Batman film I ever watched.
RIP Shirley. She and creators Paul Dini, Bruce Timm, and Mitch Brian has always won our hearts and souls with this version of the Dark Knight.
I love batman very very much
Rest now, Mr. Conroy. Thank you for the memories.
Entire Warner and DC have to be proud of Shirley's legacy.
Hearing this yesterday on DC FanDome for Batman: Caped Crusader gave me chills & a rush of old memories. Good times 🦇
Can't believe it's been a year already. Rest in peace Kevin Conroy.
rest in peace kevin conroy, the legend, the batman
5:50 Shirley Walker herself playing it for us.
Rest In Peace.
Rip Shirley Walker the best theme to hit the big and small screen was done by you, it and you will forever be in our heart
1:21 "Batman faces the forces of Hell and the Devil himself... ...and still he does not flinch."
Shirley Walker's composition for this show is one of the elements that made it the masterpiece it is.
So long Kevin Conroy! Thanks for being Batman!!🦇
RIP. First Shirley, now Kevin. They'll live forever through the magic they gave form to.
God, I wish Shirley would still be around to compose for the new Batman movie!
I kinda wish they would use this theme for it, even though I know they won’t
@@notoriousblt1038 they probably can't
This music would so definitely suit the batman films
At 2:17 the crescendo starts, implying the fate that lies on Bruce, then at 2:23 you hear two bangs (Thomas and Martha's death) and the crescendo shortly becomes more intense but not quite at it's highest point, and then at 2:28 you hear a final bang (Implying Andrea) and immediatly after you hear a tragic version of BTAS main theme, and at 2:41 you hear the classic and heroic theme, implying how a hero rises, how Batman holds through besides the tragedies that forged him.
In my opinion, the greatest score for batman ever
This actually puts me in tears rest in peace my friends you brought this 90s child so many good times and you both will be missed forever.
RIP Kevin Conroy. It never mattered who voiced whatever hero in the Justice League. Just as long as it was you voicing Batman.
This is the best Batman theme
Shirley Walker and Danny Elfmann created the ONLY and most unique Batman theme, EVER. Period!
I prayed it was a joke, but I had to face the truth.
Rest in peace Kevin. You *were* Batman
