I wish you had used used the RS3 then you can compare it with the RS4. I have the RS 4 and still rocking it. Hopefully , will be checking this out as well.
If I can find a nice RS3 for a fair price, I’ll pick one up for a comparison. I’m sure they’re still fantastic, but I can wholeheartedly say I love the RS4 compared to my old RS3 Mini (hard comparison, I know).
Great review thanks, I've never owned a gimbal as I've been apprehensive about if I'd use it because it'll take to long to balance. So far I've got away with it. If I balance it once and am using the same lens (Tamron 20-40mm shooting vertical) do you think I'd be able to take it on and off the gimbal fast
Thank you for watching! Gimbals are great, as unless you’re swapping lenses frequently, you balance it once and you’re good. The RS4 is great as it has the quick release function, and a quick swap feature. Now, if you’re zooming the lens in an out, that’ll affect the motor some, but with the 3 or 4, you can use the dial to fine tune it each time. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but it just means the motors may work “harder”. Shouldn’t be an issue though to take the camera on and off, provided you aren’t changing anything other than how far the lens is or isn’t zoomed.

I usually pair my camera with the Hollyland Lark M2 which is a wireless setup, but having the receiver on top seems to have no issue whatsoever. I’m about to do some testing with shotgun mics in the near future, but I do believe the RS4 should be able to handle just about whatever I throw at it. (At least on a crop sensor camera)
@@Novice-Media I tried the rode mic 2 and it seemed really hard to balance the gimbal. I just got it so I’m experimenting with it. I’m still trying to learn it.. thanks bro for the info🙏
@@costtv it could take some fine tweaking to get it right, I’ve got a Rode videomicro ii video I’m filming this coming week, and maybe I’ll try throw it on the gimbal to see how it works out! Eventually want to upgrade to a larger mic and retest the gimbal too

@@costtv the DJI wireless mics are amazing, I’m actually planning to pickup a set of those in the next few weeks to compare again my Lark M2s. It’s great because like you said, it uses the Sony receiver instead of include the 3.5mm cord.
I have been using the RS3 mini for the last month and haven't found it that good so glad to hear you agree, I thought it was just me and loads of people on the internet say how good they are! It started to wonder around and lose the level position all the time even with just over 1kg set up which is not good when it's rated to 2kg. I returned it and now looking at the RS4.
I rocked the RS3 Mini with a ZV-E10, Sigma 16mm and and SmallRig cage and it felt extremely sloppy! The locks would fail occasionally, presumably to the "weight" of the setup. You certainly aren't alone. The only downside you may face is the RS4 is a good deal larger than the RS3 Mini, however in my opinion, the size is made up for with the higher-end gimbal.
@@Novice-Media I am using the Panasonic G9 II with the 9mm F1.7 and a cage which is a pretty light setup, I think the whole camera and lens combo was about 1200g but just never found it that smooth, could have been me. That is my concern that the RS4 is a much bigger, heavy gimbal to start with but that might help, maybe the RS3 mini is too light so not that stable.
I definitely think that the RS3 Mini gives up some stability in favor of size. I had to do a lot of post-processing stabilization with my footage (usually a 3-5% crop) with the Mini which wasn't ideal. You can remove the base of the RS4 (the "tripod" legs) which makes it more manageable. The fact the battery is removable too is amazing!!

I was tired of the sony grip too much shaking… I just bought rs4 and I love it…. Do you use a mic on yours?
