- All About The Arc'teryx Nuclei SV Parka. A review of one of the warmest, if not the warmest synthetically insulated jackets available. The Arc'teryx Nuclei SV parka. An awesome belay jacket, that is really light weight. We look at it's sizing and features. It's sizing and fit are very important to understand before you purchase this parka.

It’s amazing how much companies spend on marketing yet there is never any clear or concise information unless you have a bachelor’s in textile manufacturing. Chris, you’re doing outstanding work. Thank you for everything.
Thank you, I'm not a professional cinematographer, but I'm trying to give everyone the best info on the jackets as I can. It's been fun.
I do love this jacket. Very warm and very comfortable to wear with multiple pockets and little additions like the two-way zipper that add to the convenience.
They should just call this the Atom SV lol. I wish they put a tougher outer fabric on this like a 40D. Still, this being only $100 more than the Atom AR makes it such a steal in my opinion.
Agreed. But I guess the thinner fabric packs down better... And a bit lighter
They stopped making the Atom SV. I have one, just patched a hole in it. Its so warm and nice. Fleece lined up by the face part of the zipper for comfort. And its 100g insulation everywhere including the arms, which I love. The AR has like 120 body and 80 arms or something like that and I didn't like it as much as my SV. Definitely a warm jacket but now that mine is old and used its not as warm as it once was. But I can throw this on in 18*F over my work clothes and be outside for a minute. Longer and I would want my Ceres SV. cheers
Nice review. I got my timelapse color size Large in December. SV has coreloft continuous, which is basically more durable version of coreloft. So SV is relatively affordable, huge, very warm man-made insulated jacket with two-way zipper and is totally windproof with two huge dump pockets inside and a sizable chest pocket. Basicly SV is among the best deals for a heavy duty winter jacket I’ve seen for years.
The lighter version FL is already a legendary for it’s intended uses, but the high quality of SV still surprised me a lot.
For my everyday use, I'm glad that I down-sized. It's perfect for me, as the intended use is as a belay jacket, and I just use it as a winter jacket in really cold, windy conditions.
@@meandmyjackets Yea, I have all three Protons (including discontinued Proton AR), so putting those under Nuclei SV should make it quite versatile.
Great video, 4 minutes in a got the answer I was looking for on the sizing!
Thanks for the support. I'm glad that it helped
We need to get this man an Arcteryx sponsorship 😧
I tried to contact them..... Even just to send me some pieces to review, and I'd send them back. No response.....
Unbelievable
I’ve already ordered 2 pieces because of your channel and excellent reviews
Alpha sv and atom ar
Will pull
Trigger on atom lt too
Thanks Chris

Great jacket for super cold conditions. I have a Thorsen parka that I love. Covert hoody ( great), Kyanite and Delta LT, Koda parka ( great) Atom AR and a Cerium LT. Great review as always!
this is the best parka I ever had, much cheaper than down jacket but same performance
As someone who is interested in this jacket to spend some time (week at a time in winter) in the mountains I look to these types of videos for info and details. The sizing and layering is very helpful; butI would also like to see details like are the pockets fleece lined, all of them (chest - internal)? How large are the drop pockets and what can fit? Is the chin/neck area fleece lined? How adjustable is the jacket and hood-demonstrate, how small does it stuff down too (demonstrate)...Just some input from a user who spends some time in the mountains in winter and relies on videos like yours. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for the input. I appreciate your advise. I do talk about most of what you are asking for, showing pictures of the fleece lined pockets, opening up the jacket to show the dump pockets, I put the hood on, and explained the adjustment points, showed the stuff sack in the pocket to stuff the jacket in, etc. I do try to show as much as possible, but sometimes it's hard to really go into depth and spend a lot of time on everything, because the videos would be really long. Most of my videos are long as it is (20-30 minutes), and people loose interest sometimes after 5-10 minutes, so it's a fine line. I try to be as thorough as I can without making it too long.
I do hope that the video helped you out. Thank you again for your input.
Been waiting on this one!
i love when people show the sizing of things right there in front of you
i am dead on Arcs M size regular cut 40 35 40 , 34 arm
i took the Medium and was shocked that it was roomy enough
to go over my M baselayer, M gamma softshell and L alpha SV
yes it is fitting well at that point and even like a soft hug
i am not restricted, nothing bulges, harness fits well and the armlength covers everything
its freaking roomy, take that into account when u buy one lol
The sizing was a big part of this video, to help everyone to understand what this jacket is all about.
Quick question, what is the chinese sizing on that piece? according to the inner white label ?
Just curious if its the same as the one I have... (non us/canada ver.)
Is it L 175?
I'm not sure what to look for on the tag.
How robust is the Face fabric it seems to good to be true.
Hey Chris, awesome video! I have used your sizing recommendations in the past regarding the Alpha SV in XL. Now i am thinking about getting this Nuclei SV. I am 6‘5 200Lbs so More on the slim/muscular side and i dont want the jacket to be too roomy.
Thinking about following your sizing choice in L as well.
Thanks again for the detailed Video!
i would highly recommend to buy your dead on sizing according to Arcys own fit chart on this one
these things are rooooomy
I got Large but would get Medium if ordering now. It’s meant to be used over a shell, so sizing down makes a lot of sense if meant to ve used as a daily parka.
Do the therme parka you sv next
Do you recommend any video on how to fold this jacket? 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Not sure, but it comes with its own stuff sack in the inside pocket, so you can stuff it down into a small sack without any problem, so I'm sure it will take to folding anyway you want.
@@meandmyjackets Thank You 👏👏👏👏👏
u need to look for videos that to the " military roll"
it folds into itself half and half again, then rolls up tight into its own hood and then into a freezer bag i sit on while zipping it closed
i climb regularly, alpine often and have been known to do some mountaineering occasionally
the Military Roll is the way to go for maximum compression, those vids
Nice one describing the sizing/ use of a belay. Just got my
First atom lt think I’ve caught the bug
Thank you, yeah it's not hard to get hooked. They're great jackets.
i live in my atom
once u see exactly how good arcys design and quality is, its very very hard to go back unfortunatly lol
@@c4l1f0rn143000 Tell me about it. I originally bought a down jacket and a hardshell. Loved them both, then just kept buying more. Never been disappointed.
@@meandmyjackets for me, it started with the Acrux Goretex FLs, i got them on sale in some god awful florescent orange
then a stretchy fleece, then the atom, and well, u know how it goes..
@@c4l1f0rn143000 Yes, Exactly! I keep telling myself that "There are worse things to spend my money on...."
Hi Chris! I love all your videos, very professional! How do you compare the the Arc'teryx Nuclei SV and Patagonia Das parka? which one is warmer?
Hi, I have not tried the DAS Parka yet, just the DAS Light. But I do own the Nuclei SV. From the specs, the Nuclei seems to have a bit more insulation in the body, but not much. They are both very similar, I should do a video to compare them. 🙂 The Nuclei SV is very warm and windproof, but very lightweight for it's warmth. The DAS light and the Nuclei FL were very similar as well. All of these jackets were designed for the same purpose. Super warm, lightweight Belay jackets.
thank you Chris! looking forward to seeing the comparation between the Das Parka and the Nuclei SV. Really like watching your videos, the most comprehensive and professional I have ever seen! @@meandmyjackets

Been wanting this jacket but it's been out of stock for quite some time
Great video! I'm curious with the sizing how far it extends below the waist. Do you know how length center back and front lengths are for the size L? Thanks.
I'm not sure how to measure that, but I will tell you that the jacket does run big. I sized down, and it fits me great. It is a belay jacket, meant to be worn over many warm layers, so it is sized larger than normal.
Dude I have to ask, how many Arc jackets do you have?? You da man.
You need to watch all of my videos and count.🙂 Everything.... 38 including fleeces, pants and jackets.
Hello, is it warmer than the cerium or the thorium even!?
Thanks
Yes, I would say that. It's got 180gsm of Coreloft insulation, and it's windproof. It's really warm!
Even warmer than thorium sv parka? I am currently testing both but cant make up my mind. Thorium sv is almost 2x as expensive.
I have not tried the Thorium SV yet, but I do know what it's about. It should be warmer than the regular Thorium, but I can't say for sure as to how much warmer. I do own both the regular Thorium and the Nuclei SV, and I can say that the Nuclei SV is the warmest of the two. It has 180 gsm of coreloft insulation, and a windproof face fabric. It's very warm! I honestly don't think that the Thorium SV is going to be quite as warm, but the extra money that the Thorium costs is most likely due to the Down, as well as the Goretex Infinium. The Thorium SV has 140gsm synthetic insulation is areas prone to moisture, which is heavier thatn the regular thorium, but you don't want to wear the thorium in wet conditions. The Nuclei can take more moisture, and still keep you warm. @@pojkken7
Same as Atom ar?
The nuclei SV is warmer and bigger than the atom AR
