Not being a Finn myself, I have a close Finnish friend. So my piece of advice would be: invest in a Finn if you want to get him or her as your friend. By investing I mean involving in the person's world, doing some good stuff for the person, helping that person, etc. So that he or she finally sees that they are important for you. Try to talk on substantial topics, about smth that interests both of you. Give him or her some nice presents made with your own hands. Have fun, laugh a lot and you'll get the best friend you can ever have. And never give up. It really takes a while until they appreciate what you are doing for them. And it feels like they have icy hearts at the beginning but it is totally untrue. So you have to work hard on that but it will definitely pay out XD
I have a universal way of making friends in general. Food, an icebreaker, and bringing a basic game like a deck of cards, board game, or dominos. I personally bring dominos since it's not as competitive and the pieces are replaceable.
Great idea! Playing something is so easy way to be with people natural way. After doing it few times, you can start to know people you play with better. Suits to Finns very well. Starting with talking only can make Finns a bit intimidated. It's like "why that stranger keeps talking to me, what does (s)he wants.." Someone to play a game with? I'm in.
