- Had a Volunteer show up today while I was tuning and doing a thrust test with the Jet Go-Kart, had half a tank of fuel left so I let her take it for a spin, I think she got her tips trimmed for free.

Ok honestly I didn't read the title.... When I saw her hair I freaked! My immediate thought was it getting sucked into the inlet!!!!
Well the good thing is there's a double FOD screen on there, It ain't going nowhere. The hair would just get cut The RPM is too high

How loud is just one engine? Do you think one 130dba at 10 feet or more? And is piston engine idling like noise at 1:23 real or just microphone glitch?
Will you be able to measure noise level if you have decibel meter?

Can you use one of those small jet engines to get shaft horsepower to drive something like a gearbox or are they thrust only?
Helicopters with jet engine to have that shaft power, there is a car / Motorcycle company that uses those engines to deliver the shaft power to the wheels, I'm wondering if there's any way you could drive the shaft power to make your go-kart go instead of only with thrust?
Different kind of turbine for that.
So technically yes, but not in its current format, I would need to design some parts that bolt on the back of the turbine to pull off the shaft horsepower and gear it down to something usable. It's been on my list for a while
@@WarpedLab that would be truly awesome to see.. would you have to use a special metals that can handle the heat or is that something you can do with standard stuff you can get at the hardware store?
I want to qualify this with I know virtually nothing about jet engines, just some of the stuff I have read but have never experimented with.
Casey Putsch built a Batmobile with a US military surplus jet turbine shaft output engine using a Corvette frame, I believe he sold it at auction, while at the auction Tyler Hoover from hovey's garage drove it but I don't think he knew who built it or any of the stories behind it. I know that last bit is useless info, but something funny that I learned here on youtube.

Seeing her hair flapping that close to the intake is quite scary, hopefully it would just cut the hair but yeah that was a bit freaky
