For a country that collects so much tax - to be unable to protect the citizens and that citizens are terrorized by the criminals - it is appalling.

It is particularly malicious in a so-called democracy, because the peasants have no means to petition their grievances. No one is held responsible in a democracy (unlike in a dictatorship or monarchy), you are just told to vote harder next time.
It’s not about protecting you. Politicians protect themselves. Insurance companies and car companies and dealers all want this, so they can sell more cars and more business. Insurance companies can now raise premium and use this as an excuse.

THIS is why we need "stand your ground" laws in Canada. When criminals know you're home, know there are kids present, and they still come up the stairs, it is because they know you don't have a gun (but they might). we NEED to be able to defend ourselves and our hard-earned property.

You can purchase inexpensive interior door locks that can be mounted to the frame or the floor. I’m not talking about a chain lock!!!! Interior locks are verify difficult to break a door down when the lock is mounted to a door frame or floor. If you have a glass door get a new door with the interior lock. Amazon has them as well as Canadian Tire.
