Thank you for this excellent show-and-tell tutorial with good pacing and elocution. You helped me make two of these in a flag motif to first wear as an election poll worker this week. My sister’s quilt group has made these and one of their members is assigned the task of soaking them overnight for each day of their retreats. Thanks SEW much.
I am going to experiment with bringing a thermos full of cold water from fridge, while I'm out playing golf I'm going to refresh the band in the thermos to get them cold again. love this idea.
i've made a couple of these before. once you get them wet don't squeeze the extra water out just put them in a zip lock bag and put them in your fridge. that way they are extra cool for in the summer or when you get a headache. Just don't stick them in the freeze, lol also you can make them longer if yu need to. my husband has a thick neck so i needed a longer "scarf". i just left my opening longer and made 4 equal sections instead of 3.. i also used sew on snaps, he wasn't to thrilled about the whole tying thing. he thought it was to girly looking. smh
I bought some from QVC a very very very long time ago. My husband didn’t want to use them (strange I know!🙄) my son-in-law loves them though. Lol. I’ll make some for him really soon. Thank you
Exactly what I was looking for!! I had a camp leader bring out some of these for the scouts quite a few years ago, started looking for instructions when the weather got hotter. Thanks!
I made some of these a few years ago, but the website that I got the instructions from said to use the crystals...and yes, they were slimy. However, they did work very well. Thanks for the info on the beads. I'm going to try again with those. :D
What a clever idea! I did not know that the beads could be purchased. Any injury or inflammation uses cooling for pain and swelling needs this. A wider wrap could be for wrist, ankle, knee, or even headache!
I just made one of these, it's soaking right now. I watched and saved this video on the 11th, and ordered the micro beads as soon as it was over. I am so excited to use it! Thank you so much for sharing the instructions and for linking the beads. I really enjoy your videos!
@@NotchesSewing I have to tell you how much I love this neckband! I'm amazed at how long it lasts. It's been around 18 hours since I soaked it in water and it's still cold! Wow! I'm going to make as many as I can and give away to family and friends. We are having record heat here in southeast Alabama. Thank you again for sharing!
That’s so nice to hear! I am also amazed how long they last. It’s now “winter” here in Australia but I just think they make great gifts for when it’s needed . I am about to upload a bucket hat tutorial tonight. Be sure to subscribe and have a look. That may help in the heat too! Thanks for watching and commenting.🙏😊
@@NotchesSewing I have been subscribed for a while and get excited when I get a notification that you have a new video up. I don't comment much but I have made several of your projects. Your channel is one of my favorite.
Fantastic. Thanks so much. I don’t have a set schedule for uploads as the tutorials take a lot of work and I produce them around my day job. Thanks again😊
I bought some of these years ago from QVC as well! Don’t have a clue where they are. This video came just in time for football practice! Off to Hobby Lobby to buy supplies! Thank you!!
Thank you for this! I’ve been looking for a good pattern and I’m so excited to have found this! I’ll let you know how mine turn out. I just ordered the beads. I tried the water crystals today and that was a mess!! Wish me luck! Thanks again!
gentle handwash and lightly brush. Do not dry clean or put in dryer. Let it dry out in sun and it will return to original condition. Thanks for watching again.
I wish you had set out loud. The name and brand of the little balls you use in it. Cause I have no idea what I should be buying. Otherwise the video is very instructive.
I’ve only ever put in fridge for a bit but I found it was cool enough even without doing that. You’ll have to do some research about freezing the beads
Hi there, are you able to buy these crystals in Australia? I guess if your going through Amazon it’s coming from over seas and will take forever to get here, thanks.
Have you ever heard of wearing a cooling neckband? Will you be making these for yourself or as gifts?
Great little summer gift! 🤗
I love the idea, and will certainly be making them for myself and the family. Thank-you for sharing this idea and pattern!!!
Yes! I’ve seen them at REI a long time ago but they will wait too expensive so I love this idea!
What type of fabric do you recommend?
Do you have a link for the beads you used? Thank you .. great timing. It's 100 here
Yes all info in description below😊

Thanks!
Wow thank you so much! Very generous of you😊🙏
awesome tutorial thank you for sharing question does it matter what type of fabric to use, cotton, or silk?
I’ve only made them with cotton so not sure how silk will feel .
Where would i find the crystals? It is an excellent tutorial!
Thank you! There’s a link down in the description
I wish you had set out loud. The name and brand of the little balls you use in it. Cause I have no idea what I should be buying. Otherwise the video is very instructive.
Please go to the video description and down to “ tools I use”. you will find the link to similar beads.
Hi there - could these be put in the freezer so they keep cooler for longer? Great idea 🌴🌺🌴
I’ve only ever put in fridge for a bit but I found it was cool enough even without doing that. You’ll have to do some research about freezing the beads
I have used the beads for the neck bands and don't remember them getting slime ! Where Don you get the ones your showing?
I bought mine in Australia but you can use the link for similar product.
How many of these can you make with one packet of the beads?
They little packets I have will make 2 but you can buy the beads in bigger container. There are links in the description. Thanks for watching😊
Would like to make some. Where do you find the beads?
Links are in the description. You can try florist or gardening centres. Thanks for watching😊
Are these beads basically orbeez? I have a bunch of those I could use.
Yep. If you use Orbeez, it comes out a bit lumpy looking. These micro beads are much easier to fill.
@@NotchesSewing I'm good with lumpy as long as it works.
Hello ! what fabric did you use? Is it 100% cotton?
Yes it is quilting cotton
@@NotchesSewing
Thanks a lot !
Where do you get the beads?
There is a link for them down in the description of video.😊
🥰🦋🌈🦋🥰
thanks for watching
how do you wash/ clean these?
cool handwash
Can these beads be microwaved?
No from a video I watched they will crack and evaporate
@@NotchesSewing Thank you! I am looking for a dual purpose bead. I appreciate your feedback.
