Se pulls me out of my loops. When ever I'm feeling down paranoid or just stuck in my emotions I need a reality check. But yes it takes will power for sure. Its hard to just take action.

I don't feel like I have problems with using Ni at all.

Same here, but I am wondering how frequent that is because I know other ENFJs who do not spend enough time alone and get into it. So maybe you and I are just special cases?

I think it could be a number of things. You’re into personality type and development, so I imagine you’d have a natural sway towards your auxiliary.
Also, the actual skill of use might be different than you think? Like for me, I would love to say I don’t have any problem with Ne, but it’s gotta be a smaller set of abilities and skills within the Ne toolbox that I’m using - not anywhere close to an ENxP. Though it may seem good sometimes and I’ve spent a lot of intentional focus on it, the extraverted world is not my main sandbox.
Maybe it’s something like that for you too? Or maybe you really don’t have any problems with it ^^

I fear that the Internet is a way for me to feel like I'm using Ne without extroverting in my actual life. The ability to click from one topic to another to another really looks like an Ne process happening, but maybe I'm really just making a comfy loop to Si and killing time w/o going outside to face the world. This definitely seems to be an INXP concern. I'm wondering if other types struggle with using the auxiliary in entertaining but less-than-productive ways and if that's all part of the dominant-tertiary loop, with the auxiliary misused as a sort of gateway to the tertiary's comfort.

I've lately "overused" my auxiliary function to the point of burn out. I see what you mean - it gets us from A to B. My son is an INFP whom I adore btw. Still, I think when circumstances lead us to continuously live in this state (mine is Fe infj) - we end up using shadow functions. That's when I know - "time out". Thanks for a great video. You have the same gentle voice as my son.

Just getting into viewing these earlier GP vids. Really outstanding archive of MBTI implementation info. Great stuff Matt! Thx.

I set a day aside to engage my tertiary function which, being Si, means that that day is devoted to nostalgia and the rest of the week is devoted engaging the exterior world. "Six days shalt thou labor and do all that thou hast to do."

Using your auxiliary function and needing will power to modulate it is/was a great topic. It makes a great deal of sense. Thanks for an informative video.

ENFP here, and Aux Fi is one hell of a drug. Having Fi can make me a bit self-centered, absorbed, egotistical at times, and not conforming to the group, but my own values. I am very open minded to doing new things, and meeting new people, BUT i analyze if it relates to my core values and purpose. I can overuse Fi too much. I usually define whos real and whos fake in life.

    Willpower and/or curiosity :)
heh and aux Te/Ti, have no problem saying something like "thats just stupid!" even if it's to the dominant function ;)

Is it possible for an IN(F/T)P to develop Ne without being around people, aka, in their own head?
I'm sure you can relate- most people think you're a freak when you try to use Ne xD

Harkeerat Of The Apollo Cabin Yep! Or just looking up new ideas by searching the web. Taking in a lot of information that way and so on.

So with me Fi is dominant so I easily and comfortable follow with what I feel is right and avoid what I feel is wrong. However Ne would have me look through different perspectives to maybe change or have a better understanding of what is right or wrong. But that does sometimes feel like an effort.
Like sometimes when questioning a belief I feel whether it's right or wrong and then I research it and I only ever change if I feel certainly I should. but it takes energy to go against what I feel is right. Which is why I avoid things like that at times.

great info and presentation. at the end you seemed to say you don't think your Ne supports your Fi very well. as an intp, i feel my Ne supports my Ti only too well. is that what you mean by a feedback loop? do you think an auxiliary Se would support a dominant Fi better than an auxiliary Ne ? there would be a feedback loop there too, i guess. 🖖

Yes. It takes courage and confidence to get into the aux function like its your first preferred function. So there has to be that basis from the dominant function ! Any thoughts or idea how confidence relates to this in your opinion? Do you think its equally difficult for all to do that?
