That young fella needs his own UA-cam fishing channel little legend fishing
Agreed, his fishing knowledge was incredible.
alan, next time you go to portland (if you do) you should give the breakwater and wharf a shot, and try the land based fishing there, its a really good spot for all of these sorts of inshorey fish
Yeah, 100% im keen to head back some time soon and do exactly that, big emphasis on some land based content at the moment and would also be a good spot to bring the drone down
The lil bros lovin it...too good.👍🏼
Great production mate. Bar is getting higher with each vid. Love it.
Thank you !! Its greatly appreciated. Lots and lots of hours go into the new vids so I'm glad your noticing the improvement.
Hi Alan, I’m a novice fisherwoman in Gippsland. I’ve been binge watching your videos after stumbling over you a couple of days ago. Thanks for the info. Well informed and not annoying 🙏
Thanks so much !! I'm really glad your enjoying the channel. I hope you enjoy the Gippsland stuff we recorded a few months ago aswell.
Yes I did watch them and you’ve inspired me to try and use soft plastics a bit more. Thanks heaps 😊
Have you fished Cape Paterson or Inverloch way?
little pinkies look like fun! Great video.
Based on the white tip to the tail the "rat" was actually a Rakali (or Australian rat) not actually a rat species but a native Australian mammal.
Great video promoting accessible fishing.
Thanks for the info! Thats very helpful
@@fishingmad they get a bad rap as people (me too until I learned) think they’re common rats but as a mammal they are pretty cool. Almost our version of otters.
Awesome stuff Alan and fun had by all great to see
Glad you enjoyed it, Thanks Tony !!
That 75mm Double Clutch in Ghost Wakasagi is one of the best all rounder hard bodies out there. I've caught Redfin, Bass and EPs on them in the fresh as well as Flathead and Snook in the salt. Just about any predatory fish will smash it.
Great session on the waterfront mate, a lot better than I usually do!
Thanks mate !! Yeah i agree the 75mm double clutch is a ripper, also brilliant on the trout and even some big breambos. The area has been fishing well lately.
I wonder why we have Netflix when you make videos this good.
LOL Thank you, your too kind !!
A great little session Alan 🎣🎣🎣👍
Thanks 👍 Joe
Awesome Video Alan! Love Geelong, so many great fishing locations there
Thanks 👍100% agreed, its a wonderful spot for lots of different fishing methods.
Pretty full day. Good stuff.
Yeah, it sure was!
awesome landbased session Alan. Thanks for the tip on releasing the small fish away further to avoid spooking the other fish. 🤙
No problem 👍 Glad you enjoyed it !!
Yeh. Very clever. Never thought about that. You simply can’t replace experience.
Hey Alan, great vid, I love fishing the waterfront, you guys had a really good day, and I think it's great how you explain things along the way, you have a time for everyone which makes everything you do just so much better, cheers mate 👍 🍻
Thanks Brad, yeah a lot of time and effort goes in to make sure we are explaining the where, why and how to really give viewers a helpful experience. I'm Glad you enjoyed it
ive watched a lot of fishing videos on youtube but these are the best on youtube reason is they dont go making videos using 2k rod and reel set ups they actually show you what lure they are using they dont keep it a secret and they explain along the way i actually were in Kmart one day i saw a Ryobi fishing rod and reel for sale $ 35 well its been the best rod ive owned i have caught some big fish on it the reel is awesome, i do have shimmano rods but now use the ryobi rod
happy to see more salmon and pinkys , i have been seeing gar for twomonths .. i missed the casting just lots of waiting and throwing sa berley with gar
Yeah its great to be catching them still in winter, the gars should come on strong really soon in that area
Great video and information. It’s got me so excited for my upcoming trip to Australia Jan. 9. We’ll be visiting from Canada and planning to bring some fishing tackle so I can enjoy some fishing fun and hopefully some delicious dinners. I do like to harvest a few for eating. Thanks as well for sharing locations to give me some ideas of where to fish. We will be visiting Melbourne for a week so will definitely look for some of this action in the land based harbours. Can’t wait. I’ll have to look into the regulations and licensing for when I arrive.
Brilliant content Allan. Loving all the B roll footage to introduce and set the scene. Well done 👊🏽💯🌟
Thank you, I'm Glad you enjoyed it as I've been putting countless hours into the B-Roll stuff lately.
Love Geelong❤
Great video, particularly like this one because it shows just how accessible fishing is for anyone to get out there and have a go fishing. Whether they keep them (if legal size) or chuck em' back, there's nothing quite like the tap of the rod when there's a fish on the other end of it.
Thanks Rowan, 100% agree and glad ya enjoyed it.
Great video mate, I went down there last week and caught 3 good sized flathead
Thanks Vin and great job with the Flathead !!
Good stuff. I was fishing with you on the Little Rock wall when you were filming and I’ve been waiting for this. Great Vid
Awesome, Dominic. I remember chatting with some really nice people on the rock wall. Hope you enjoy the episode, and hope you also caught some good ones.
Yeah caught some really good ones in good amounts. Just wondering how far those Daiwa 75 double clutch’s dive down. I’ve some of them and I am wanting to go for some snook in Geelong. Cheers👍🏻

Finally new stuff coming
Thanks, always new stuff coming. Think i had a week off first time in about 6 months
Great work love it very helpful keep videos coming
Thank you! Will do!
Sweet LB Fishing dude
Thanks !!
Love the Daiwa Double Clutch in Wakasagi colour. Have found the Shallow and Mid of the Atomic Cranks, the little wobbly bums, dynamite for the Bream and Flathead. For the bread and butter species in the Estuaries outfishes all my other hardbodies. Doing what you do with light line, correct retrieve styles and the proper spin gear, light spin reels like my Daiwa monocoque T.D Black in 2500 size, 8lb leader and light jig heads. However only get maybe one good fish every other trip. Really think I’m unlucky. Did get a GOOD Bream last Weekend 30 cm fork. Lucky when I get one, usually a good un.
Hi Alan, fantastic session this one. Ps:next time you get here let me know and I will be very happy of dropping a line together with you 😃😁👋👋🤙🤙
Thanks Mario, 100% will do. Im sure ill be back there soon and look forward to catching up
Thanks Alan, you are my idol and it will be a fantastic experience 😀 👍 ❤
Great content as always man... I went fishing yesterday... christened my first surf rod with a 34cm flathead. Going again tomorrow, hopefully catch something nice.
Brilliant, Ben that sounds awesome. Hope ya catch another good one tomorrow
Inspiring stuff. It's fired me up to get out there and try it when weather or time doesn't allow for a boat trip. Some of the same species here in NZ and there's plenty of them, so should be able to pull out a fish or two if I put my mind to it.
Thank you, always glad to hear the content is inspiring others to get out fishing. Amazing fishing in NZ im a bit envious of how good it is up there
@@fishingmad I always think we're "down here", but in the north of NZ (where I am), we are a little bit north of you. What we gain in fish numbers, we lose in variety. Snapper really dominate the top half of the country plus we can't jump in a car and drive to the tropics! Admittedly though, if you want big snapper and kingfish, this is the place to be!
I will be heading to Geloong at Christmas time. My brother In law Lives there. You might say if you want a cat chop so you can teach me a few things or 2 about land based in wins the right time to set the hook. 😊
So busy down here today. It was quite for weeks :)
Just got myself a T Curve Premium 2-5kg paired with a 2500 Vanford, 6lb braid. Hitting Lake Macquarie in NSW hope i get a few. Just learning the ropes with plastics, i will be using 2.5" Zman and Baitjunkie Grubs aswell as 2.5" Slimswimz in various colours on 1/16 jig heads, might even breakout the chubbies and double clutches on my new 1-3kg Blue Romance rod paired with a 1000 Stradic also 6lb braid.
Awesome, some great gear choices there. Good luck, I hope ya catch a few good ones on plastics. Some how to soft plastic vids on the channel that might be helpful too
@@fishingmad been watching your shore based stuff which i find very helpful aswell as Shroom and Josh D, all you guys make it look so easy. I dare say there is alot of practice coming up, still better than working lol
Unreal vid Alan! It seemed like you were not putting much movement, if any at all on the plastics? I always default to at least jigging the plastics, are there situations where you don't need to move them?
Thanks Marty, yeah especially in winter whilst the water temp is cooler i tend to work the plastics really slowly. really give the fish a chance to have a look at them and commit. Similar with jigging this time of year and depending on what species I will work them very slowly if at all.
wow some great fish, and the water was like glass ! do you need to use gig heads on those soft plastic worms ?
Your welcome, yes I was using 1/12 jig heads in size 2-0 which worked great.
Great session Alan, never seen a grass whiting before, do people target them, and are they as good eating , i live in Sydney , and gee I wish we could fish land based on the wharfs and boat jetties like you can in Melbourne, hopefully they give us some fishing pontoons in Sydney, love the land based sessions champion, great work,
Thanks Anthony !! We get quite a few grass whiting in the shallow reefs which are accessible land based here. They happily take plastics and baits. They are good eating but I find them to pretty and just release them. We dont have many good pontoon fishing access in Melb, so prob very simialr to NSW its s shame as this vid highlight that it can be great for fishing and the community.
The bait way to catch a grass whiting you would use a float to set the line depth just over the weed beds. Then a small strip of pilichard on a whiting hook. This way your bait wont get lost in the weed and the fish will come out and grab your bait.
Hey Allan I’m new to soft plastic fishing and really want to get into it more what techniques do u like to use when fishing these shallow waters in salt and what colour plastics do u like to use in different weather conditions (sunny, cloudy ect) + awesome vid mate 👍
There is so many variables depending on the depth, time of year and target species so its quite difficult to give an exact answer. In every episode we explain what we use and technique for what species to really help people get an understanding of the choices, technique and logic. Winter i tend to work plastics a bit slower if chasing pinkies and bream. Cant go wrong with staple choice like zman 2.5 inch grubs and small paddle tails. We have heaps of helpful info on this in our members area as well which may be helpful for you if your starting.
Hey Alan, for land based fishing, what time during the tides do you fish at? I usually go from low to high or from middle to high. Do tides affect how much fish you catch, if so what tide time is best? Cheers!
Ive always like the start of the run out tide, not sure why but the results have always been better for me on the start of the runout.
Hi Alan, lovely vid, can I get a link to them soft plastics please
Berkley 4 inch Turtleback worm in Camo colour. There sold by all Fishing tackle stores and retail outlets.
Hey Alan! Is 8lb line + leader optimal for this type of fishing?
Yep 100% perfect for pinkies and similar species
Hey Allan, I got a few questions about fishing in Geelong, would love a response. Thanks.
Sure, what questions do you have ??
@@fishingmad what lures would you suggest using, what is the best place to guarantee catching a fish in geelong, what jig head?
Hey Alan, as a nube to this past-time could you tell me when (time & tide) you were targeting?
Fished quite a lot of the day but did notice the bites fired up on each side of the tide change.
Have you done a section on Bitecasters how much line they can hold? And are they good for catching bream on?
Hi Samantha, next month we will be doing a lot of beginners stuff around bait casters and different types of lures like surface lures and swimbaits in the FishingMad members area
@@fishingmad cool thanks will look into being a Member.
hey man, just wondering if you would recommend going out to the pylons at princess pier on a kayak, watched your vid on it and do u recon it would be a good time to go out there now? cheers. also what lures would u recommend. thanks
Princess Pylons is an amazing spot, but its a tad quite there right now. As soon as the water temp starts to warm up it will fish great again.
does the colour of the braid you use make a difference in the number of fish you catch?
Would love to know what rod you're using and size and wait man that whipping sound sounds beautiful?
Daiwa TD Commander 2-4 kg rod, Shimano Twin power FD 2500 reel hope that helps. Its an awesome outfit, but a tad pricey
@@fishingmad yes i love Daiwa rods. 😊
Why do u fish with such a light set up
whats the song at the start?
What lb leader?
8lb leader
hey allan mate, what editing software do you use to edit
Juggling a few different ones at the moment depending on how complex the video is.
@@fishingmad ah yep,
Can you send me the exact location for this?plz
Yaa
Enjoy the vid its a good one
Oi Alan mate come fish Queensland
I wish, the volume of species and the quality of fish in QLD is amazing, 100% on the radar soon
Shorter intros please!
