      @@fishingmad Yea that's it mate. I don't head out to Melbourne often as I'm rural based but I have the same opinions on some of the saltwater destinations I head to. Quite a few are pretty fairly popular spots with anglers lining the jetties and in the 10+ years I've been going there I've seen fisheries maybe twice but often see people breaking the laws.

    • @fishingmad

      100% agreed and some spots are notorious for people keeping undersize fish or two many fish and yet they get away with it over and over again. Would be good to see more fisheries officers I think the team is very small considering how many people fish in Vic

    Another great video mate, and great to see your daughter with you again. Geelong waterfront has so many good locations. Those trevalla are a funny looking fish with those big eyes. They seem to get them from Geelong every year around late summer and autumn, yet I don't hear of them being caught anywhere else. There's a lot of potential in that area. And that walk goes out into some great water for good night time snapper fishing in October and November.

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks 👍Darren, yeah during the winter school holiday period ive been trying to cover good land base fishing spots accessible for families. That whole area has so many good land based fishing options, so much better than my side of town. I agree once the conditions warm up i wreckon there would be some good snapper there. I caught a big snapper years back of one of the little jetties there

    • @Doodsy1975
      @Doodsy1975 3 роки тому

      @@fishingmad , where that walk ends is exactly where I used to anchor. Not far off the end of the old pier there, which is now underwater, and shows up on the sounder. Caught snapper from 2-4 kg there. Melbourne cup eve, was a night I either went out on the town and got blind if the weather was no good, or if it was good, I took the boat out, drove to Geelong and fished there. Was a bit of a tradition for a few years. Most trips produced a coupe of nice reds.

      Hi Rob, 100%. I was using 10 lb line, with 1 rod length of 10lb fluoro, 1/12 size 1 jig head and 3 inch slim swimz. If i was to go back I would probably go slightly lighter maybe 8 lb for line and leader. Hope that helps.

    Nice video I’ve got a couple of questions how do you use that lure you were using, how do you know if your jig hit the bottom. I heard it’s when your line goes slack but idk what they mean by that. When was this filmed?

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  3 роки тому

      I cast the soft plastic, wait about 10 seconds for it to hit the bottom, then do a few lifts wind some slack and again wait 10 seconds for it to hit the bottom. Most bites were when the plastic was being worked very slowly. Just play around with different techniques and don't overthink it, as it can be different on different days. Was filmed on Sat morning a week ago. Cheers
