Loved Kim's laugh when the young Lady was trying to get away from Thor and the tree branch, but ended up taking the branch with her when she was trying to move over !!!! The fence is Gorgeous!!! So Neat of a setting with the Bisons on one side of the fence and you guys are on the other side of the fence!!! A Beautiful Farm Scenery, that's what it is!!! They all are such mellow well mannered people, enjoying life to the max!!! Fun with Nick and the Grass!! They sure enjoyed that snack!!! Missed you guys, and decided I better check up on you!! Hi! We do like to sneak a video in from time to time, lol. With the summer coming on, we have not been able to post as much. And with all of the rain we have been getting lately, it's been hard to get outside and get work done, let alone shoots some video! And the mosquitoes this year have been absolutely horrible! But we try to get done what we can, when we can. And we are making slow progress, lol. We have a few projects. We are hoping to get through this year, and we would like to extend our fence into some of the grassy areas of the yard to give the bison a little bit more room to eat and maybe even start some rotational grazing. :-) Thank you for watching and being a dedicated subscriber!
Time to get another feeling trough now that you have more fence to anchor it to. Maybe then the youngsters can eat at the same time as older ones and not get pushed away.
It is just a mix of grasses native to our area. I don't know precisely what species or type. We did seed some of the more bare areas last year and this spring with a seed mixture from our local feed store that was labeled "horse pasture mix." What we were feeding them in the video is what we cut down in some of the overgrown areas around our yard. They really seem to like it! We figured since we're cutting it down, might as well utilize everything we can. We have plans to section off an area or two so we can start rotational grazing. Right now they are able to go anywhere in our enclosure, and they really seem to nibble everything down everywhere! Lol.
@@blackaxeranch Thanks for info! Love your ranch, everyone working together. I've seeded big blue stem, little bluestem, switchgrass, Indian grass. Soil is clay but native grows like crazy. Ohio/KY used to have native bison who roamed here. Just for fun, wildlife watching now. Thank you for sharing! Bison are so cool.
@@carolthomas770 we have a lot of clay in this area as well. But pretty good topsoil for vegetation. Eventually, I would like to start experimenting with some patches of different seed varieties and see which one they like the most. For some reason, our bison really love White Pine needles, and any kind of pine bark. They literally are stripping the trees, lol. But then they rub on it and because it is so sticky it helps to remove their winter coat because I find hair stuck on all the trunks! Lol.
That fence looks great! They all look so good. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you!! :-)
Fence looks great, bison still shedding winter coat. Oh, how they love to roll in the dirt. Thanks for sharing.
Maybe they will have it all shed off by...August?? Lol!
Great video thanks for sharing my friend. Fence looks great, do u have any more to do
Might upgrade a few areas later this summer.
:-)

great looking fence. Are the 2 new bison getting enough to eat, I always see them getting nudged around? They remind me of Dustys' Eleanor.
they seem to manage so far! :-) Although...Thor does get a little "soggy" at times, lol!
