  • From the 1989 A&M album Earth. Includes the late great NY based guitarist Robert Quine, in his trademark blazer and shades. Background vocals I believe (but not in video) include fellow A&M artists Dan & Matt Wilson and John Munson from Trip Shakespeare.

Big big MS fan. Never saw this before. Very big part of his musical history. Nice post.

It's always bummed me out that the album/single versions of this song fade out, because the lead work comes unhinged in the best way possible in the unfaded version.

I'm glad someone was finally able to release an ACE quality video of "Vertigo". I've been looking for this for a looooonnnng time. "Earth" is an incredibly underrated album (along with "Inside") and deserved the success that 'Girlfriend' got two years later.

Wow a young Matthew. Would have been a hit if he would have sung it like Neil Young at 25. The great Quine on guitar.

How did a songwriter as good as Matthew Sweet, who found a way to get two of Rock's greatest players (Quine, Lloyd) in his band at different times, not find a way to Rock Godhood? As big as U2.

Had not heard this song. Like it but the Prince keyboard glitter that pops in occasionally, seems out of place. Otherwise brilliant. In my humble opinion.
