One of our baritones died by suicide this past weekend. By request of his mom, we sang this lovely song at his memorial. Rest in peace Cole Burgess, I'll never forget the memories I had standing next to you everyday...
We sang this at my junior high choir concert in memory of our science teacher who unexpectedly passed away. I could hardly keep from crying, because it is such a powerful song! Love this recording.
woah holy smokes! I was just looking to listen to this song because I sang it a while ago but I didn't think I'd find my choir!! let alone that it would have so many views. aw man I'm so excited?? I'm in this recording! This was one of my favorite pieces and thank you everyone who's listened to TYC, it means a world to me (and I'm sure many others)!
Being in my youth choir is probably the reason why I've aspired to become a chorale director. This song was the first song to ever make me cry during a performance. The fact that I was a senior in high school struggling with depression made this song so much more meaningful to me.
Just sang this for my choir director’s funeral . Dr. Brenda Walker “Doc” ; you are loved and will be missed . You touched a million lives and made millions make a joyful noise unto the Lord.
Thank you very much for this lovely performance. Believe it or not, I've never actually heard the SATB version in person... only in my head. :) Beautiful :) Best wishes, Susan Brumfield
Last year my choir, Charter Oak High School in covina, sang this wonderful piece of art in the Walt Disney Concert Hall for a Master Chorale High School Choir Festival, now the song is a new tradition to be sung at every graduation ceremony, to give a good message of "a new journey" and leaving the past behind. Amazing work. Just brilliant.
Oh, I do hope this has changed in the last seven years. This is just one of the most absolutely beautiful choral pieces out there. Thank you so much, Susan!!!
I was able to sing this with the Florida Singing Sons Boychoir many years ago. Thank you for the music you have given to us, thank you for this true gift. Words will never describe the honor of being able to perform it. Just thank you
We played this song to send off our seniors during my freshman year and a love listening to the song just to remember them and the memories we had made ❤
Lyrics: Rise, oh fathers, rise, let’s go meet’em in the skies, we will hear the angels singing in that morning. Oh I really do believe that just before the end of time, we will hear the angels singing in that morning. Rise, oh mothers, rise, let’s go meet’em in the skies, we will hear the angels singing in that morning. Oh I really do believe that just before the end of time, we will hear the angels singing in that morning. No time to tarry here, no time to wait for you, no time to tarry here, for I’m on my journey home. Brothers, oh, fare ye well, brothers, oh, fare ye well, brothers, oh, fare ye well, for I’m on my journey home. Sisters, oh, fare ye well, brothers, oh, fare ye well, sisters, oh, fare ye well, for I’m on my journey home. No time to tarry here, no time to wait for you, no time to tarry here, for I’m on my journey home.
My choir just placed first (score of 96 with only 15 people in my choir) at State Festival with this song! Such a good one that I will never stop listening to!!
Congratulations! The hhs choirs also win many awards, and their advanced womens choir have this on UA-cam. I wonder how similar that compares with your choirs version?
I sung this song with the SATB choir during the Bluegrass Festival at the University of Kentucky in 2014. Absolutely beautiful song.. This was our closing song during the concert. Such a magnificent piece indeed. Anytime I'm feeling out of place, I play this song for comfort. I'm truly grateful to be able to make wonderful music with wonderful people from around the world. I was 14 when I entered my first Bluegrass Festival. By my senior year, I already been to All Festival and All State. Scored a 98 on my sight reading and solfege. I went from tenor to baritone as I matured over the years. But best believe I still sung with the Sopranos, using my falsetto. This song is so nostalgic. I hope everyone has a long and prosperous life. May the Lord be with you, my brothers and sisters. Much love from Southeastern Kentucky. 🖤
It's a beautiful peace, and when we were performing it at our Spring Serenade it brought our conductor to tears, and a few others in the audience. Tacoma Youth Chorus is an amazing choir, and producing a sound as beautiful as this ... is why i'm in choir. (:
It's certainly interesting stumbling into a recording of a performance you were in 9 years ago. This is still a major memory in all my years of singing and is the reason I continue to sing, to create those emotions for people.
Ugh I was trying to find this song for SO LONG. I was in choir all four years of high school & we learned this song for our San Francisco trip, we then sang it for our fall concert that following school in dedication to a student who was in an accident. This was my favorite song I’ve ever done and it’s stuck with me the last five years, i finally found it
Performed this with my high school choir my freshman year of high school, it was and still is my favorite piece. Really solidified my love for singing.
I remember singing this years ago in Seattle Children’s Chorus. Absolutely beautiful song. I recently lost my mother so this song made me cry and miss her a lot. And that’s okay. The greater the loss, the deeper the love.
I am in an Honor Chorale class in high school. We are singing this song. It's such a great song! I hope that iit goes well in concert. A song like this should be sung perfectly!
I first heard this arrangement last week. My daughter's high school choir sang the SATB version. It is stunningly beautiful and deeply meaningful. Now I want my quartet to sing it, but can I get through it without it without tearing up?
I was drawn to this song because of the recent viral post on social media where the girl in the choir catches the Holy Spirit and the chorus concert! I had to come see and listen to these words! I was in Chorus 100yrs ago back in high school 😂 and I can attest that we sang some beautiful songs that often made me cry so I understand that girls praise! There were plenty of times I had tears streaming down my face and even years later when my daughter was in chorus! The sounds of them singing brought back so many memories! But anyway beautiful song! ❤️
I found this while searching for covers of The Guess Who's No Time. Found this performance to be quite inspiring. BTW I recommend the guess who song for anyone who appreciates some quality song writing regardless of genre.
+Everything is Awesome 😃 You'll have a blast. I did this with my chorus last year and the energy was amazing. Hands down the best song I've ever sung in chorus.
To all my fellow Tenors out there does anyone remember working out the timing with their teacher? It's funny once we take the Melody, we only have 6 Tenors and I'm the only Tenor 1, It's very fun to be able to sing as loud as I can during this song!
My choir is singing this (along with other choirs) in our state's upper region choir concert. This is my favorite song out of the songs that we will be performing.
This song was sung in Riga, Latvia by the Robinson Secondary School, Select Womens choir. They did such an awesome job. So many wonderfully talented voices.
performed this a long time ago on WFMT with my choir really makes me think about how I long for my high school choir days again and really makes me think how much it had an impact on me and the songs triumph conveying an epic journey even though I'm a music major I would love for those days bavk5
This was on the program for my choir’s spring concert. It’s been cancelled because of covid-19 but it’s such a wonderfully beautiful piece. Hopefully i’ll have the chance to perform it another time down the road :’)

I’m so sorry for your loss.
I'm so sorry for your loss, may his soul rest in peace. What a beautiful song to sing for him
lots of love and healing to you❤️

I hope you have a good day, God loves you, I love you
Our school's honor choir is singing this. I'll say this is for sure: the baritone part is probably the most fun one I've ever sang.

My schools honors choir is singing it too for our fine arts festival; we have 4 parts though Bass, Tenor, Alto, soprano (I’m a soprano)
My school choir sang this at a competition a couple years again and it moved our teacher to tears and she's not that you can easily make cry
We played this song to send off our seniors during my freshman year and a love listening to the song just to remember them and the memories we had made ❤

And I loved it
The beginning reminds me of a song from the familiar of zero...
I wish my choir sang this half as well, but, almost all of us hate choir. It’s so sad!
:(
does anyone have the lyrics
Did you thank the organic chem toutor on your grad day
The entire arrangement is beautiful but something about that soprano note is getting me kinda misty lol
Not to hate, but the arrangement seems very fast-paced and without emotion, especially in the beginning.
^^
I sang this a few years ago and we sang it way slower. I tried putting the video at .75 speed but it chopped up the audio
Don't like this song
Sang this at my school choir
