I suspect it was the water from the river ed. Imagine all the dead animals that are in it. Your stomachs not used to that At All! Love you made the journey through.
I’m a brand new sub and there is something deeply satisfying about watching a man with the world’s poshest English accent beat himself to shit on a river for our entertainment. Keep going, Ed! May your stubbornness always outweigh your discomfort, but take a backseat to your safety!
I really appreciate your dedication to capture this adventure for us. Already struggling with lack of energy and not feeling well, yet you take the time and energy to set up the camera on the shore, paddle past and then go back to pick up the camera. Well done, Ed!
I've been chronically ill since February with something the doctors just haven't been able to figure out. It's left me so weak I can't even stand for a minute without needing to sit down and catch my breath. But before this, I used to kayak whenever I got the chance! I would paddle for hours, go down small waterfalls, just adventure. This series has been uplifting for me; it makes me think "I'll get healthy again, and then I can go on adventures like that." So thanks for that.
While it's not the same, I've been recovering from an injury this past few months so I have an idea of how you feel. There is no better feeling than being able to get back to the things you love after being unwell. Hope you make a complete recovery.
Sounds like I was a year and a half ago with a collapsed lung And on Saturday the 9th I walked a marathon for charity Hopefully they find out what's troubling you
Following your adventure is only half of what I enjoy. It's the amount of effort you put into positioning cameras, creating a scene, retrieving the cameras, and then proceeding. Such a magnificent job! As always, thanks for taking us along. Warren
About entering and exiting the kayak: Bridge the gap between the kayak and bank with the oar behind you and the seat. Put your feet in and then shift your whole weight to the kayak while leaning on the oar. Because the oar presses down on both sides of the boat it will keep it stable.
Can confirm this works even in sketchy Eddie's in the middle of rapids. Takes a few tries to get the technique, but one you have it, it makes for a pretty stable way to get in.
You’re happiness and enthusiasm on what seems to be a horrible, dull and wet day is something to behold. What a kind bloke, you deserve all the views and attention you get from this 👏🏻
Every time someone goes on an adventure like this, it makes me think of how easy Geowizard makes it look, and how hard it actually is. Great video, looking forward to the next episode! 🎉
19:59 - ooooh noooooooo! I did that once on bike tour. It's the worst! You've spent all day pushing, are exhausted and hungry, and dump your whole dinner into the grass. That brought back traumatic memories! Good to see you finally getting some decent dinghy miles!
That feeling of knowing you need the calories but being unable to eat is so frustrating. I've experienced it at elevation a few times and takes a psychological toll as well as a physical one.
Look after yourself mate, keeping energy up on these kinds of trips is really important! I thought the same on your unicycling tour, there's only so much plain pasta a man can bear
You have the most calming adventure vibes I've ever seen and I love it! Just found your channel recently and you've already got me itching to go camping!...except it's about 110F outside where I live so that's a pipe dream at the moment without a long drive up into the mountains.
Oh yay! I was just thinking, why did I not finish the river video series? But my forgetful self forget they were still being posted😂 Happy to see this pop up!

Love the videos, keep up the amazing work. I really do feel sad sometimes and I've had issues with depression before, but these adventures of yours really help me out. Looking forward for the next episode
Presumably you know the cemetery/churchyard trick: they are one of the best places to fill up water bottles. There is very often (but not always) an accessible water supply you can use, and there is almost always a church or two in an English village.
@@weedb5533 you dont want to trespass on someones land to use their outside water spiget but churches will often times have outside water spigets you can use and its not really trespassing. Or you can just ask someone to use their water.
@@weedb5533many cemeteries in the uk have water taps in them so people who want to put flowers on a grave can fill up a vase with water, insert the flowers and leave the flowers and vase on a loved one’s grave. I can’t comment on the cleanliness of the water because the taps are usually specifically put there for vases not for drinking and the cleanliness of the water may vary from location to location. Some people drink this water direct from the tap, others will filter/purify it while others boil it first while others won’t drink it at all. Sometimes these taps are connected to copper pipe, sometimes very old and unsafe lead or iron pipes and sometimes any combination of the above and anything else that may have come to hand when they were being installed. Usually the pipes are underground so you can’t see what they are connected to or what the pipes are or where they come from or what the water source is. I’m not criticising anyone on long distance hikes etc who can’t get water from anywhere else and is really thirsty who uses this water but I’m not personally recommending it either. Hey Ed. you are bringing me back to life, absolutely love your videos. I love the enthusiasm and spontaneous adventures I no longer do due to my business. I wish you all the best and i hope i find a spark in myself to pursue the same.... one day!
My guess is your electrolytes were low at the start of day 3. Between exercise and not eating properly it's not unlikely. Even without exercise, it just takes 2-3 days of fasting to cause issues.
God, youtube's algorithm takes some time. This type of thing is exactly the type of thing I love to see and I only get it recommended three weeks in to the run. Really enjoying your videos Ed.
Ed, your videos are so inspiring and you are one of my favorite youtubers. I was wondering if you have considered making a video specifically about what you learned on your trip around the world and how you've matured because of it. I have done a handful of long multi-day trips, ranging from 300-700 miles, but I would love to hear about what you learned from such a long, difficult, at times lonely, and multi-cultural journey. Thank you
I’m new here - you look and sound like my accountant but you make great UA-cam videos! What a fun adventure, thanks for all the hard work involved in bringing us along 😊
About getting water, I don't know how it is in the UK, but as a bike traveler, I know in France you can find water taps in every cemetery. Yes it's drinkable as any tap water in France. When it's not drinkable, it's mandatory to specify it on a sign near the tap. So if you want free water during a trip in France, go to the nearest cemetery. It's that the same in the UK ?
