If doing more sponsored deals like this makes you able todo more videos like this, do it! It would have been super funny if the entire time you were carrying the shaver and did the plug for it while your out there!
This is a prove for my theory that you don't have to venture far into the wilderness to experience an adventure. If your equipment is just suitably inadequate, an adventure can be had right at your doorstep. Well played, Ed!
Yep. Very low-carbon trip this one. He even used a 2nd-hand boat. The man is a model for us all. I've been all over the world in the past but these days find just as much entertainment can be had without travelling very far at all. There is an amazing amount to see in the UK, if you just go for a random walk or bike ride, and even more in France/Belgium/Netherlands/Germany.
What a delightful gentleman two and a half minutes in. I always love seeing little encounters with people like that in series like this. E: And Carlos, what a legend. Final Edit: Congrats on making it, this series was a wonderful watch. Not that there was ever much doubt after the unicycle journey, but a win's a win.
Water, water everywhere but not a drop to drink... except when Carlos has your back, top man! Congrats on making it Ed. I'm looking forward to seeing more of these challenges in the future 👍
25 meter (from the shores, I guess?) would have helped a lot during day 1 and 2, which also means day 4 would have been easier and it's likely he wouldn't have needed the shortcut. It's possible some spots would have ruined the platinum goal however.
I had to leave a comment for Carlos, what an absolute legend. “I gave you permission to use my picture or whaeva” had me dying. Excellent series, super glad I was able to catch this while it was ongoing!
Well done Ed! You managed to extract a wild adventure out of a pleasant civilised bit of England. Just goes to show us there is adventure around every corner by just looking with a new perspective. Can't wait to see your next escapade!
Thank you Edd. We watched your videos this morning and were drawn in by your adventure. We are learning about the source of the rivers for our geography lessons and this was very informative. We are SHATTERED. We feel as if we walked the whole way with you!!
Congratulations on being the first person in history to ever be excited to see Burnham on sea.... 😂 Jokes aside, congratulations, you're and inspiration for anyone who longs for adventure! Your video making has been captivating, can't wait for whatever you do next!
I rarely comment on videos, but this series was genuinely one of the best UA-cam series' I've watched in a while. Extremely well edited and a great story, it's also introduced me to your chanel which I am really grateful for! Well done you did great
Have you seen his entire series when he unicycled around the world? I was privileged to host Ed for two nights when he was in Malaysia (I make a cameo in the final episode of SE Asia) and I can honestly say he’s as nice a chap in real life as he comes across as in his videos.
You know what i like is, i like the dramatic "BGM" cuz it not only pop in and out at random time of the vid it also not a background at all its a "Forefront music" and i love that cuz its not only fighting over your voice it also give the vid a sense that the vid is finished and it make viewers "fatigue" and giving a sense of "im done" and make the viewers want to skip over.
Ed, I am so glad that for whatever reason UA-cam suggested this series to me!! It was a joy to watch. I’ve got to say, your choices in music were quite delightful and really made the series for me!
It's really heartwarming to see the local folk willing to help a guy out with some water. A lot of people where I live have lost the sense of hospitality and community, and they'd probably slam their door in your face unfortunately.
I know it's been a month since this was uploaded, but I must say that this is one of the most wholesome and entertaining series I have ever seen, let alone on UA-cam. Very well done.
Great series! It's the little scenes like 21:07 that i think really show the effort you put in to making these videos. Thanks for sharing them with us!
I found your channel by youtube suggesting me the first or second episode of this series and I have since the watched all of you unicycle and tandem cycle adventures. And what a lovely shirt design! I ordered one, I think that makes you the 4th youtuber I have bought mearch from, I am picky with mearch designs
I loved this series! Even though you didn't follow the river at all points you still completed your reason for doing the journey. I think it made it better that you had to get off at certain points and walk on foot. Plus the people you met along the way like Carlos and the elderly gentlemen. Quite a representation of life. It is so much more about the journey than the actual destination. All the best to you!
Awesome adventure! Loved your idea of exploring your backyard in a new way. And big shout to Carlos for some Somerset kindness. Best wishes for your next quirky trip.
I have a weakness for outdoorsy shirts. "Keep life wiggly" is definitely an outdoor shirts. I also have a fondness for rivers, especially getting up close and personal with their sources that are very, very rarely where the map says they are, let alone easily accessible. I look forward to seeing what's next on your channel, and to wearing my "keep life wiggly" shirt the next time I go up into the Georgia mountains and pick another random, mid-tier river to find and document the source of.
One of my favorite bits has got to be watching you go from so fresh and confident on day one to completely exhausted and spent after four days. Made it very tangible.
I, along with many others, am so glad this turned up in my feed. Joined primarily from interest in the intriguing river trip, but you've won me over with your personality, wit and filmmaking talent. Definitely sticking around for more.
You don't really need those in the UK - just find a church or a house - one is rarely very far away :-) But I guess a Katadyn bottle or similar would be quite convenient on a river-based trip.
I've walked along the River Yeo many times dreaming of doing this same thing- But this just went to prove I'm nowhere near fit enough to do so. A very impressive journey! Thank you for sharing your adventure with the world!
Wow, outstanding series of videos, Very entertaining. Very good editing, this would be good enough to be on TV. Love the addition of drone footage and time-lapse as it all adds to the engagement. Look forward to more videos from you. Thanks for creating and congratulations on completing it.
Congratulations on completing this adventure, Ed! Epic accomplishment, for sure, but I think what really made it was your excellent editing and story-telling skills. Music helped too. All-in-all, it made for a very nice, immersive viewing experience, much like your previous around the world unicycling series (yes, I've watched them all!). So please, in response to those who keep comparing you to GeoWizard, and suggesting you imitate/collaborate with him. Please, you continue doing you. You are your own man, and your videos have their own unique, experiential quality. Do what interests you, and if that involves a collab with him somewhere down the line, then by all means, do so. But I enjoy your videos for their own sake. They are wonderfully immersive and well made. Hats off to you 🎉👏😁
This series introduced me to your channel, and I'm delighted to have found it. Your adventures around the UK have been very enjoyable to watch, and I can't wait for more!
I confirm this and having given Ed a bed for a couple of nights when he was in Malaysia he is as nice a guy in person as he comes across on his videos.
As a Taunton man, the moment you mentioned Bridgwater and low tide, all I could picture was that mud and shopping trolleys!! Carlos - Bridgwater people are always so friendly!
As someone who's spent all 24 of their years living in a desert, it's been absolutely magical watching the Parrett grow from a barely-noticeable trickle into a huge, spanning river. I've always been in awe of how much water rivers move and I've always wondered how they could possibly start (like, where does all the water come from!?), and it's so weird and cool to learn that the water is just kinda there, coming from nowhere and joining and growing the river and turning it from a plant-ridden brook to full-on navigable water.
Hi Ed! I missed you by a year at the STOMP muni-fest in Alabama, but I've loved your videos. I just took a trip that you might be interested in... I Mountain unicycled 13 miles of trail with my pack to my local lake. I then took out my pack raft, and kayaked 10 miles to a magnificent camping site where I spent the evening. I pack-rafted my way back to shore then rode the 10 miles back to my waiting vehicle. It was a perfect trip, and one that I would like to be done on a larger scale. I think that you're just the man for the job!!! Muni-pack-rafting!!!
Drinking water tip - petrol garages. They always have an outside tap for cars to fill up radiators and screenwash. They might say it's not for drinking, but it's connected to the mains. I survived off this method for 2 weeks of wild camping in Scotland and I wasn't ill.
It is not that we want to watch this idea specially Ed, it just that we love it so much how you tell your story and enthusiasm for adventure! I'd watch you walk from the fridge to the couche if you produce it like this, amazing work and love to see your next adventure💕
what an epic adventure, well done Ed. its people like you, Ed March and Geo wizard that make me realise me dreams as a kid were not stupid and there is a lot more people out there that are like minded. i really love this sort of thing. i cant wait to see what you do next
Knowing what the lower Parrot looks like, you certainly picked a very difficult river for this challenge. The banks are steep and treacherous and I feared for you getting out! Its not a very picturesque river 😆
As an American, it seems SO CRAZY to me that he wouldn't bring a water filter. I think nearly anyone who goes camping/backpacking brings a water filter. The only exception is if you are at a campsite with water or you are bringing all your water with you. I am totally amazed at this trip. What a fun journey!
Bro just went from mid 10k viewers to well into the 100k viewers with this series. And this is also how I found you. Thanks for sharing this adventure with us Ed.

Hey ed thanks for this entertaining series!
You should have called these series: Backdoor adventures with Ed Pratt!
carlos is a legend, cheking if ed was hurt several times, just looking out for people.
Carlos is the real main character
If Carlos started a channel based on recycling I’d be there in a heart beat
@@jasperoliger lets go!
Carlos could teach the zombies at the recycling centres of Leicestershire a thing or two about engaging with the public. What a man!
He seemed like such a nice guy!

I knew everything would be alright when he got blessed by good boy Chocks.
Water, water everywhere but not a drop to drink... except when Carlos has your back, top man! Congrats on making it Ed. I'm looking forward to seeing more of these challenges in the future 👍
Hey geowizard, I think this guy needs your help to complete a platinum river follow. You two should team up and make an epic adventure.
25 meter (from the shores, I guess?) would have helped a lot during day 1 and 2, which also means day 4 would have been easier and it's likely he wouldn't have needed the shortcut. It's possible some spots would have ruined the platinum goal however.
@geowizard
It could be a great adventure 😄
This was a pale imitation of a Geowizard adventure.
@@ESS284huh?? He’s been doing this longer than geowizard
02:25 - bit sad that man didn't go for the classic "Chocks away" when calling his dog; missed opportunity that.
I had to leave a comment for Carlos, what an absolute legend. “I gave you permission to use my picture or whaeva” had me dying. Excellent series, super glad I was able to catch this while it was ongoing!
One of the most entertaining videos I’ve seen in ages. An absolute hoot. Find another river please!
What a great series. Honestly feel like this could be a tv series. Ed, you're a great ambassador for UK. Well done on your trip.

The impressive bit is that he keeps getting his camera out to film all those solo angles/walk-pasts/drone shots, even when he's knackered.
I enjoyed this miniseries very much. I love the looks of that muni in the background! 24:27

Can I Follow a River from Source to Sea WITHOUT Leaving it? No.
Been waiting for this, loving it!
Great stuff, Ed. Perhaps a similar series following an old railway line in the future? One that hasn't been turned into a cycle path obvs...
Been done on the tele & here on UA-cam
Thank you! Nice trip showing the area and the nice people along the way!
