That’s a lot of work! I left my original seat stapled and one piece Purchased a purple pad shaped with razor and placed perfect stapled luimoto seat cover and done 15 mins max ! And feels much better than gold
I bought these seat covers for the 2013 R6 and there insane. I had them put on from my buddies upholstry shop. It really makes the bike look nice. Your content is very useful.
also when laying things with tape even vinyl peel just a small section fold it where you can pull it from behind and place where you want it and peel and stick from oneside slowly working to the other keeps you from getting air bubbles or dirt and trash on the 2 sided tape works great for stickers and vinyl graffix as well
For those looking to order a custom seat from Luimoto, It’ll run you about 325 or so all set and done with a basic design like this one. (If you chose to go with a design not made for your bike) It’s about 190 for the seat and gel, then you basically give up a extra 120 dollars for mark up. I did it for my first bike, I loved it but you really have to be okay with getting ripped off for it to truly be a good experience
I don’t know about being ripped off. I went to Lui moto shop since I live in Vancouver. Everything is hand made and the people there are super helpful. I didn’t end up getting anything since the price was a little too steep since I just bought a brand new bike, but definitely now I’ll be buying a seat.
When I saw this video about the r1 seat. It looks just like the seat on my used 2020 r1 that came with it. It's the same design with carbon texture on the side but without a gel sadly. Now I know what the brand of the seat is made.
a good sanding pad on a drill or air angle grinder works great to take down the foam just go slow and works great you can use that to feather it in nice and even and smooth as well
Those lower tank leafs are going to come off / slide down if you have an R1 with plastic for the lower tank fairings. The adhesive doesn't work correctly. I tried 3 different sets of grips. If they are painted should be fine
The original seat hurt my butt. I got a sattleman seat that helped. If you ever get the solo cowl, prepare to hate removing it and putting it back on. It sucks
Am I the only one that noticied he probably could have used the remaining goldgel on the small passenger seat to improve it as well? Being so small it must be even worse.
Bet that seat bag helps if you leave your bike in the sun as well, keeps keeps it from fading and the seat will be not as hot after you take the bag off. @9milson2wheelsmatt
Definitely ordering these now for my 2015 2 sets for both set of farings getting me some paint matched with my truck and keeping the factory oem farings as well!! Fire 🔥 content my brother just got you a subscriber 💪🏽🔥
Our seat covers are designed to fit snug like the factory seat cover. If you lay the gel on top of the foam, then install the seat cover, the feel will be off and look strange off the bike with the seat cover awkwardly installed on top. Trust us, we've tried haha. However we are developing our gel pad as an add on if you decide cutting into your seat isn't for you.

@@Luimotohq thanks for the heads up! If i were to do such a thing i would trim the squared edges down where it laid flush to the best of my ability. If i do i might post a video on how i do it and show everyone how it turns out. But i will definitely be ordering a seat cover and some gel for my R1. Thank you guys for what you do!
It's pretty easy to dry them off with a towel after washing but they'll still be damp until they air dry. I've always just made sure not to spray them directly with water so they don't get very wet. I have however gotten them completely soaked from rain and from doing a wash and they dry out looking and feeling just like new.
Absolutely. Our seat covers are made from marine grade vinyl (used on open air marine craft etc) and Japanese synthetic suede. They are made in the wettest city in Canada. Vancouver haha. We got you covered.

Does the gel insert really make a big difference? I think the seat on my R1 is fairly comfortable tbh so not sure if I even would want to deal with all the extra work but that seat cover looks pretty damn great!
It won't be a plush super squishy gel like some others out there. YES, those feel ideal. however, your points of contact with that kind of gel will simply bottom out. Our Gold Gel is a bit firmer to help absorb some of the road shock and keep you comfortable longer without bottoming out.
What’s up man? Was thinking about getting the cover and gel for my s1K. I live here in Texas as well and was wondering how it felt in the heat and if the comfort level is worth it.
I have a question. You’re my go to channel for R1 information and I thank you for your guidance, I’m actually about to go buy an 2020r1 and I’m starting to hear that it’s not a good buy because more then 30mins on the bike and it starts to hurt your back. Is this true? I’m only asking because i haven’t owed a bike before and really am interested in getting one but now this this new information I’m kinda worried I’ll buy to not ride it. I have done research on Yamahas and it’s only because they appeal to me more than any other make and model. So this would kind of be a bummer if true.
I don't really ride in the rain anymore. I addressed rain in my last seat cover install but the materal dries out just fine. You can also do their grip material on the tank leafs I believe, which doesn't retain water at all.
I have a 06 R1 and I'm looking for a seat upgrade. If the foam is so thin does it need to be cut out? Would it be too bulky to just leave the seat and add the gel on top?
Nice video man actually ordered some but was wonder I have a about 1/4 round hole from when seat ripped can you just recover or do u have to fill hole with something first
Hey, Moto, just to let you know, the Bitly link that is presumably your affiliate link to Luimoto is broken. With the Gold Gel, how much impact would that make for touring? I want to start touring on my SV650S but the stock seat is pretty firm and I have a bony ass, so they don't mix well
