I have a 2020 platium awd and love it. CVT transmission is for a retired person who do not care about going fast out of a bend or turn. That's why I like a murano since 2003 the 3.5 engine is proven to be bullet proof. Nissan put this engine in most of it's vehicles for years! For me, it's not about how fast the car can go, no not at all, it's all about going from from point A to point B in comfort, and that's all what the cars was invented for.
Just bought a 2023 Murano and it seems like the CVT has had some tweaking done as performance is pretty darn good. One thing we have to remember though is that this is an SUV and the performance is just as good if not better than most SUVs except of course the higher end performance brands. It’s an SUV not a sports car. One of the reasons I chose the Murano was that it has great style and body lines that makes it look so much better than all the other “box on wheels” SUVs. The Murano styling was way ahead of the rest when it first came out and it still looks great today.
I have a 2015 SV AWD Murano. I look forward to buying a new one. Best car/SUV I have ever owned. I drive in lots of snow and rain. I take long trips with it. Great gas mileage on long hauls. Comfortable, good tech. Never had issue with mechanics. Only brakes, oil changes and tires.. 125k Miles and she runs like new. Great power in a V6. No issue with the CVT. Highly recommend. I hope they re-design it for 2023. Love your reviews.
Murano had a 5 year head start. I can't say I ever saw them everywhere in So Cal. The Rouge is much lower priced, not too small, looks good, and the high numbers on the road are a direct result. It has also received more redesigns as a result.
Everytime I watch your reviews I have to get a snack it's like watching a weekly sitcom I love your reviews they are out of this world always laughing even if I don't want the car I am not looking for a car because you already sold me on the Mazda CX-9 SUV great work🤣👍
I bought this and absolutely love it! Only 2 things, when driving and the sun hits the top edge of the hood, blinding! The console door is annoying that it doesn’t open very far. Again, I love this vehicle!!!!
I just bought a used 2021 Nissan Murano SV(Special Edition) with a cashmere interior today and I love it so far 😊 This is my very first Nissan. Thanks for your video
I really love that Murano, but I definitely don't regret getting my 2021 Bronco that I got thanks to your review brother Raiti. You and Lauren have a blessed rest of y'all's week. Thank you for the great and awesome content.
I bought my '16 Maxima new. I now have 101,000 miles. Not one issue with it. Not one. Still pulls like a train. Check out the 30-50 & 50-70 passing times on Car & Driver; not many can keep up in that price category. The CVT in the MAX is different because it is (was) their flagship vehicle.
Great video! I have been driving a loaded 2015 Murano SL for about six years. Except for the CVT I have no complaints. Nice SUV and it has been super reliable for me. I am interested to see what a redesign brings to the Murano. I would definitely consider buying another one. I would like a blackout edition best!
Wife owned a Murano 7 years ago, was good value for the price but lacked many things competition had at the time. The 2021 does a good job in the segment but it doesn't look much different from ours 7 years ago exterior
5 years with our 2016 Murano and I have yet to get used to the CVT transmission. It kind of lunges the vehicle forward if you step on the gas a certain way. I'd much rather have a traditional automatic. The horror stories from owners of older models with the CVT are also of concern, but so far so good. A vehicle of that size should have more front legroom. I'm 6' 2" and feel a little cramped.
Cvt in general you don't need to hit the gas hard from the go unlike automatic where you know if you wanna truly go, you can go but then the cvt wins in gas mileage department.
5 years with my 2016 Altima. The CVT is smooth, and has consistent acceleration but other than that it's lifeless, jerky, and unpredictable. I agree it's time for Nissan to ditch the CVT
Just got 2021 two weeks ago in black. With black interior . I love it. I do agree that the chrome in the dark gray chrome would look more sporty. The only other thing i would have liked to have is the trunk pull inside. Just seem like a kinda petty leave out in special edition. Dont need the kick release. So i dont miss it. Thanks. Beauty is in the eye.
All CVTs weren't created equal. JATCO (Nissan) tranny's are seen by most mechanics as absolute junk. If MPG is a high priority, than a CVT makes more sense. Honda CVTs are really quite good. We have 3 CVT cars, 2 Honda, 1 Lexus. No issues, great MPGs.
Give it up for Joe for powering through this review! He seemed so bored with this vehicle. Unfortunately, I feel the same way. I used to love Nissans, but they just aren't the same. BTW, if you want this vehicle, just shell out the extra few thousand for the Platinum trim. Much nicer interior and extra tech. Not a quick SUV, but it is beautiful and the ride quality was nice when I rode in it last year.
I like how Nissan is rebranding stepping their game up in a good way I think the new rogue and pathfinder will do well but the way in the rogue use to get a 50 on consumer reports. The 21 got a 76. Their doing better if the new pathfinder does well five years from now it might be my next car
CVT was the reason why I got rid of my Murano. V6 does not feels like V6 with the CVT. Plus the cabin air filter placement is ridiculous, hard to replace.

I’m glad Nissan is looking at the Nissan Murano I hope they redesign to the Murano be great. Put more black around the screen not sliver. I like the cvt transmission but I don't like that it breaks so if nissan guaranteed free transmission swaps everytime transmissions broke I'd love the cvt
Appreciate the way you review the Nissan Murano. Your review influenced the purchase of my 2018 Murano. However, you DO realize that it is WOMEN who buy SUV’s. So your opinion of the headlight housing, the lack of “black chrome” and the fact that it’s a CVT engine as opposed to a 7-speed of 9-speed automatic are not the things most women care about. Nissan will cater to who’s buying the Murano the most. And that’ll be WOMEN.
Truthfully, many men are the purchasers for their s.o. and the fact that the cvt reliability was suspect/problematic is a concern for those concerned for their families.
I don't see the hate surrounding this murano other then the CVT. I have had a couple 15-20 model nissans and I did have issues with one CVT at 70k but the style of the murano looks good, obv a refresh is needed but it's still a pretty good looking cuv/suv whatever it's called
"I would not buy a car with a CVT blah blah blah"...all the experts that don't own these cars. 2015 Plat here, 108K miles not a single issue with the engine or CVT; highest mileage I've seen 38.7 mpg, my avg is 27.4 mpg on a 4000 lb vehicle. Try to get that mpg number with a regular automatic.Actually in traffic I prefer the CVT because it doesn't upshift/downshift all the time. And still looks better than many boxy SUV's out there.
Love this Nissan Murano but we all wanted to hear all good news and say everything positive but, nothing/nobody is and will be perfect but we car enthusiasts don't want to see boring and overstyled cars if they were perfect.
Awesome review, had a 2009, loved it. Looking forward to a revamp! Could you mention drag coefficient of some of the vehicles you do. Love the technology in today’s vehicles!
own a 2018 Platinum AWD. For the most part I’m happy with it. But I think Nissan missed the mark with Murano. Should have been Maxima version of CUV. 300 HP from maxima & market as the sport cuv. Share the same seats, get rid of the God awful skinny ass 235 & 7.5 inch 20’s with more aggressive stance, put quad exhaust tips with slightly more aggressive exhaust note, ditch most of the bright chrome. They already have Rogue, Pathfinder, Armada to cover all of the main stream bases. Now add in the new 9 speed with a style refresh and bump to 310-320 HP and they have something generating lots of press and a “Halo sporty CUV.”
Joe, great job as always!! Wondering when we can expect your review on the brand new GV70? I just saw the Sport Prestige model and fell in love. Considering buying it but but need your feedback as I am deciding between an X3 M40 and the GV70. Thanks and keep up the great work.
It’s outdated obviously but I hope for the next generation model they add that 9 speed automatic that’s in the pathfinder and give the car a similar interior from the pathfinder. This would be a good seller for them
Joe I have been trying to put my elbows together and make that V like you did for the last half hour. It might take me a few days but I am going to do it.
HEY 👋 another great car review video 📹 on this NISSAN MAURANO. I actually like the MAURANO 's but never got one because of the size I prefer a larger SUV. However I would like to see what the 4th Generation of this vehicle would look like. Thank you as always for bringing these car review videos to us great job.
I love the Murano as Nissan lineup definitely now. I hope the Murano gets a new design, delete the CVT add 9spd transmission as new beautiful Pathfinder. See Nissan is stepping up their game hope they do changes with the Maxima same too add 9 speed automatic and AWD this time. The previous Murano is still nice aging well just time for a major design as the Pathfinder.
My previous vehicle was a 1st gen Murano... I bought the new Blazer... Definitely recommend anyone looking at the Murano to consider the Blazer instead. I'm done with Nissn CVT...
If they get rid of that CVT In the Murano and the Maxima at least In certain trim levels of the two cars they're sell percentages would go up because they're attracting a new audience to what the cars consit of,In my opinion.
I got to tell you. I had one of these and now I have a Lincoln Mkx 3.7 and the murano was quieter, more comfortable and more powerful.
Thanks for sharing that input from your experience!
No way! My sister has a 2017 Murano and I always wanted an MKX. I currently have an 08 Edge.

If they get rid of that CVT In the Murano and the Maxima at least In certain trim levels of the two cars they're sell percentages would go up because they're attracting a new audience to what the cars consit of,In my opinion.
