  • For the first time you can now get an Atlas from VW with the smaller engine and option AWD. On the outside of the 2021 Atlas you will find a bold chrome grill, 20in wheels, and LED lighting. On the inside there is an 8in infotainment system & leather seating. Under the hood is the 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 that produces 235HP & mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Is the NEW 2021 VW Atlas 2.0T 4Motion the SUV to buy than a Telluride?

Have an Atlas (2.0) great family SUV. If you need the space and the flexibility with car seats, this can’t be beat unless you get a minivan. Note on the VR vs the 2.0 and the different trims: first off the most bang for your buck trim is the SE with tech. I drove the 2.0 and the VR6 back to back. The VR6 sounded better but it felt gutless during city driving in the mountains compared to the 2.0 which felt torquey where it mattered! The 2.0 is a more modern engine with a solid track record, the VR6 is a bulletproof dinosaur of an engine (and drinks like one too!). If you are at altitude and don’t plan on towing anything heavy, the 2.0 is the way to go!

I have a 2018 R-Line SE with tech and towing package, V-6. This vehicle is great, and I've had no reliability issues. It drives like a smaller vehicle, the turning radius is crazy small for a vehicle this size. Like you pointed out, the seats are very supportive - especially for us taller and longer legged people. That's what I have disliked about many vehicles - the seat is short and cuts halfway down the hammies. Terrible if you're on a road trip. It's an absolute deal killer for me. Several years down the road and my Atlas is still very quiet inside and rides like a dream. We hauled around a 4500lb trailer for a couple years, and it never felt like I was pulling too much. Back in the Before Times, my team would go in my car for team lunches, and I can validate that six full grown humans can comfortably sit in this vehicle. My husband loves that this SUV doesn't have that egg-shape look to it, and has a more aggressive presence. I think the fake exhausts on the 2.0 might be a manufacturing choice so they can use the same part for either power train. Mine are definitely not fake on the V6. Speaking of, the V6 gives you a nice growl when you put it down, and you will have ZERO issues getting around the slow movers. The only thing that bugs me is there's sometimes a minute hesitation when I floor it from a dead stop before she giddies up. If I'm flooring it, there's a reason and I don't want that little pause. My one and only complaint on this vehicle. Great video, as usual! Just wanted to add my two cents as having driven one for a few years now. 😊

Quick secret for better response, drive it in S (Sport) vs D, you will think it is a different SUV. We had one for a while and it is night and day difference between S mode and D mode, the transmission shift points are worlds better also in S mode. Enjoy! We are currently looking to buy one ourselves, the one we had for 2 weeks was a rental.

However, I live in the city and rarely seen the Atlas so that probably is a reason why I want that vehicle. I don't want a vehicle that you see every other block haha. Good video Joe, and thanks Lori for being a great camera person as always! Do you know when the 2022 Atlas will come out?

Very nice. I’ve been a huge Touareg III fan since it came out. I would go buy an Atlas tomorrow morning if it had a six cylinder tdi. Volkswagen at it again with this Atlas!!! That red paint is straight fire!!! The fake exhaust and intakes need to go and definitely needs some ponies to move this beast around. Decent packaging though for a mid pack placement. Thanks for the upload here Joe and Lori!!! Literally nobody else is out here working hard pumping out the consistent quality reviews like y'all!!! #RaitisRides #600kSubsHereWeCome #OnThrottle #ToTheDoorPanel #TwinkiesForDays #OnThrottleAgain #LoriGotAngles #CameraQueen #Zonkmeister #OnThrottleAllOverThePlace #IfYoureReadyImReady #Volkswagen #Atlas #4Motion

Why spend all the money on a Tahoe, get one of these. You won’t be disappointed. Yes, I’m a VW guy. I’ve owned five, including ‘18 Tiguan and ‘18 Atlas. They’re great vehicles.

How are you Joe? Definitely love the body style design on this Atlas more than the Atlas Cross.

The 2.0t is better, don’t be mislead. The vr6 sounds great under load but, the turbo is a better performer. If you need more power, get an APR upgrade to the 2.0t and you’ll be at about 315 hp.

All these reviews about SUVs and cargo carrying but no one actually takes a tape measure and measures the dimensions (length, height, width) of the the different cargo area set ups - all seats up, back seats down, all seats down...Hint-Would be kinda helpful when looking for a cargo carrier
