  • This is part 1 of an extensive maintenance job on the Aprilia Scarabeo 500 ie Light. The works also go for similar bikes of the Piaggio Group. Think of the MP3, Scarabeo 400/500 but also Vespa bikes. This part will be the front forks, brake calipers and coolant/radiator test. Hope it is usefull or just fun to watch!

    I just purchased a clean Scarabeo GT ABS. I can't find anyone around here who knows how to work on it so I need to teach myself. I find your vids to be very helpful.

    Good to see your videos again. Got a good laugh with all that water shooting about. I don't do scooters, but I do bike restorations as opposed to builds and I enjoy seeing you go through the scooter so far. Lots of diagnosis and troubleshooting to get things right again. It's like getting to know a new friend. Very satisfying. Looking forward to seeing the scooter fully restored.

    Not interested in scooters, but there is always an opportunity to learn something new, plus you are fun to watch.
    Have you got a link for that brake piston tool?

      Thanks, great to hear! Was affraid my loyal subscribers would be dissappointed which I can understand. Therefore try to keep it a bit 'easy to watch'. The pliers are called Brake piston pliers. If you Google it like that you would find something like this: www.racing-planet.de/brake-piston-pliers-removal-tool-buzzetti-30-33mm-p-281245-1.html?language=en&country=de¤cy=EUR
      I have them for quite a while now and ordered them at a Dutch site who don't deliver internationally. Sorry.

    Hi thanks for the video. I was trying to remove the fork on my bv500 2007 to change the leaking fork seals but I could not extract the fork from the base using a flat head screw driver like you did on the scrarabeo500 without removing the steering ring. How did you remove the forks without removing the steering nut? Did I miss something?

    • @chiefpepdesign
      @chiefpepdesign  2 роки тому

      You obviously should loosen the clamps first which hold the forks. On the top and halfway. But since these clamps are really tight around the forks, I open them with the flat head screwdriver a bit.

    hello sir, do you know what problems scarabeo can have, it stops at a speed of 120-100 km/h, if I stop and wait a bit then start again everything is ok, charging ok, new RPM sensor.

      Thanks! But really I am pretty confident that this test was reliable. But to mention this for the viewers. 👍

    You need to be careful when handling equipment around the radiator fin. They are delicate and can easily ruin the cooling of the bike. Just a tip for efficiency.

    You could try and use the new UA-cam Chapters option, so people who only want to see one part of maintenance, because they need to do that on their own bike can then easily find that part ;)
    Also maybe mention the "subjects" shortly in the title, so it is easier to find for people?

      can you tell me where it is located and how to open the fearing to reach the voltage reg.

    • @chiefpepdesign
      @chiefpepdesign  2 роки тому

      @@jeanmichelkrief1043 It's next to the coolant. Under the front fairing. Very easy to reach and this fairing is very easy to take off. Unscrew all the Philips screws. Also in the glove compartment.

      Unable to find any way to open the front fearing - Maybe there is an instruction manual that details it?

    Where is your Factory shop manual?! Spend the money , buy the official factory shop manual..the manuals that the dealer techs use...get the correct answers to your questions and the correct procedures for these tests and maintenance. And when you have it in hand....READ IT! USE IT!

      Would be great. Couldn't find it. Eventually all worked out ok. For all my other bikes and jobs I have had one.
