He has some BIG shoes to fill, figuratively of course. The Queen was concerned with duty alone, and this was fundamental to the reputation of the crown. Regardless of how one views the institution of the monarchy, her stoic and loyal commitment to her role was unquestionable. She was respected by citizens in good times and bad. Will he further divide or help the monarchy at a time in which nations are reconsidering their relationship? Standing for human rights and humanity is important. Weighing in on subjects for monetary or industrial gain, state or otherwise, is drastically different.
I, 55 years of age, living in Denmark, see no sence in the hostility amongst some people wishing him to let William be king. I have, living in a monarchy as well, gained a lot of respect in the important moral head of state function. There is someone above the prime ministers, and they have to respond to this person. King Charles: I praise his values. As this family tends to have long lives, he'll probably be King for many years to come. While I know neither Charles nor any member of the royal family is ever likely to read this, but I feel the Queen smiling down on them. She would never have left this earthy realm had she felt her heir unready or incapable to reign. Now that the initial shock has worn off, King Charles the III just seems natural.
Queen Elizabeth was such a monumental figure on the world stage for 96 years. It seems odd to my tongue to refer to Charles as "King Charles". I am 55 years old so for all of my life I've known him as Prince Charles. It's going to take some time (for me). Even having to say God Save the King as opposed to God Save the Queen. I realize the Queen's passing was inevitable but she had an aura about her that made it seem like she could live forever 💙 I am mourning her death as many of us are. She was truly a majestic person, may she rest in peace 🙏
our late Queen was on the world stage for just over 70 years, but our King has been on the world stage for quite a number of years already and all heads of state change
Long live the king........ Unlike royalty in many other countries which has been abolished,, British royalty, has thrived, hand in hand with the parliament..... the rappot they share is amazing,... & a modern monarchy, under the late Majesty The Queen & now King Charles, under whom, I am sure, will move forward toward modern ideas & changes, both for themselves, & for the citizens.... ... will be a delight to spectators the world over......
Charles needs to learn how to control his temper if he wants to be a good king. I was shocked seeing him get upset over the ink pens and upset withn Camila because she was taking too long talking to people in crowd. I am not sure he will have the backbone or temerment for the job of being King.
that as what Edward VIII had planned, but he had to step down before he could do it....but you still need to keep up some of the splendor, uniforms, etc.
It’s probably the opposite. The government is a front put up by those families to keep the con going… why does people’s critical thinking turn to mush sometimes?
true, for the most part....BUT the King/Queen has the right to be informed of ALL important government actions, and the right to give advice and be listened to....2 important factors in this matter are [1] no law in the UK can be enforced unless the Monarch SIGNS it....the last time a ruler actually refused to sign was Queen Anne in 1707,,,BUT, we have no idea how many times a King has said "i will NOT sign that law UNLESS you CHANGE x, y, and z.".....so, COULD a King dare to make that threat?...this is where factor [2] comes into play....all officers and soldiers in the UK military and police must swear an OATH of absolute obedience and loyalty to the KING...and NO oath to obey Parliament or the prime minister....SO....if a King chose to exercise his fully lawful right to reject a law, the UK military is legally bound to obey HIM.,,,,would it?....so far no ruler has ever put this question to a tests... my guess is that in private, Queen Liz said many times "I will sign this law IF you make the following changes..." and the prime minister agreed, to prevent any possible confrontation with a monarch who has the sworn loyalty of ALL the armed forces.
Unfortunately, the reality is this isn’t true. Its not who has the power on paper, it’s who has the power in REAL LIFE. The Prime Minister of the UK is required to answer the call of The Queen (obviously now The King) within 15 minutes. THAT’S power. Make no mistake, all those politicians answer to The Royal Firm. These Royal bloodlines go back thousands of years before any sort of “political” existed. Beige me, they’re the true power. They have all the money and connections, therefore they have all the power.
He's not really a king, just a figure head (mascot) that lives of the sweat of the English people. If people remember back to the last recession, they would remember that the supposed royals made money of the people's suffering.

The ascension council today predates the Norman conquest of 1066. That means for more than 1000 years this meeting of the illustrious of the land have gathered at the Kings Court (notice it was held at st James palace not Buckingham palace as it’s the court of st James Charles now becomes king of. And proclaim the Queen is dead long live the king. The council today consisted of all living former prime ministers and 200 other senior politicians past and present of all parties and creeds of the left and of the right. Some of whom hate one and other, yet All are gathered despite of political difference but with one thing in common. They are all British and are ALL loyal to the crown. Politicians and ideology come and go, prime ministers come and go, but the crown endures. Eternally. And from that you get the smoothest and greatest platform in which as a nation we can practice parliamentary democracy. The monarch is not pretend or merely ceremonial - he is the embodiment of the nation the actual commander in chief of His Majesty’s forces, the font of all justice pardon and patronage and the supreme Governor of the Church of England. The King has no political power but by being above it all he has supreme power. The love we had for Elizabeth and the respect we have for the institution of monarchy which is older than parliament itself. And Knowing that, the weight of the whole nation now falls entirely on the shoulders of one man - most citizens of Britain, republican or monarchist, wish Charles well and hope and pray he will be as great as his late father mother grandfather and grandmother. All legends of their age. ✌️🙏
Monarchy is on its last legs. Only a matter of time before much of the commonwealth abolish the monarchy. Many have only held waiting till elizebeth passed
good history, thanks. though one point...the monarch DOES have the absolute right to refuse to sign, and thereby veto, any law he chooses, with no appeal from that veto....it is also true that, the last ruler to DO this was Queen Anne in 1707....BUT we have NO idea how many times a monarch told the PM "I will sign this law ONLY if you change X, Y, and Z.".....and a very pertinent factor in this matter, IF there ever IS such a showdown between King and Parliament, is the following FACT....every military officer and every soldier and every police officer in the UK swears an oath to OBEY and be LOYAL to the KING....they swear NO such oath to obey the parliament or the prime minister
@@essessessesq completely agree. If for example a lunatic government ever somehow came to power and a bill was introduced to let’s say stop elections indefinitely or permanently dissolve parliament or dismiss the judiciary. The King as the commander in chief of the country absolutely would refuse to sign such a bill into law. He could and would Dismiss the PM and the PM would have to go at the point of the bayonet if necessary. He could and would dissolve parliament call for fresh elections and convene the military high command and order the generals air marshals and admirals to defend democracy at all costs. That of course would never happen as this is England. But you are absolutely right, the King ultimately is the boss. He can fire the PM and he is under no obligation to sign any bill into law. However the ramifications of him not doing so save for intervening to defend liberty his people or democracy itself then most likely in doing any of the above it would call a constitutional crisis the likes of which we’ve never seen before. The woke crazies would be out in the streets crawling out the gutters in their millions soiling themselves and winging and crying dictator and tyrant. Etc Points well made tho mate ✌️🙏 I should add the king is the commander in chief and does have supreme command of every soldier sailor and airman however only the prime minister can order the launch of the U.K. trident hydrogen bombs. So the powers of the monarch as commander in chief are vested in the prime minister as well. A general has to follow on order from the serving pm up unto the point the king fires the pm and appoints somebody else then they would legally have to obey that new kings first minister Of course all fantasy and hypothetical but puts a spanner in the works re a clear definition of who’s in charge. ✌️
@@frazer3191 Thanks, Frazer! I can already see one not so admirable quality of Charles III when he got annoyed at 9:58 but at least he was genuine. With all the centuries of choreographed and practiced nature of the ceremony I am surprised that they didn’t have an assistant during signing to help remove signed paper and the tray. And they should use modernize a bit perhaps use turn chair instead of dragging it
I was just thinking the same thing...why wasn't this rehearsed so the assistant knew the exact moment to step in and remove the tray out of the way? You would think with such an important ceremony the assistant would know what to do and when to do it.
You should read up on the War of the Roses. Two kings kept warring and switching who was on the throne. It didn't end until Henry VI "died" (read murdered).
I know it’s protocol but it seems so odd that they have to keep “announcing” that the queen is dead like it’s the first time anyone has heard the news.

I dont understand why OVER and OVER they have to 'announce' her death. Pretty sure by now, most of the world is aware and certainly ALL for the British Empire is aware.
good question....the reason is that these words were all written many centuries ago, before TV, radio, the telegraph or any modern electrical communication existed....so back thn, few people knew 4 days after a king had died....the British choose to keep the words the same, based on centuries of tradition.....that might change....but he last time these ceremonies were performed was 70 years ago and they have not been updated
It’s tradition, as this all dates back to a time when news of the monarch’s death had to be transmitted via people on horseback riding into towns and ringing a bell probably.
Back before TV and the Internet and newspapers, having the high sheriffs proclaim the same thing over and over in different cities and towns was the only way to tell people outside London that a monarch has died.

I have dear friends who live in England. I support Great Brittain and her defense. However, we are all entitled to our opinion. Your opinion is equally valid and certainly welcomed. The monarchy....the "royals," the king, queen, prince, princess, duke, duchess, .......and so on is OBJECTIVELY an outdated and frankly bourgeoise, "silver-spoon," and ultimately a symbol to all that.....hard work, determination, perseverance, and attitude.......are all qualities we must strive to embody in furtherance of success.....success in education, work, family, citizenship, etc with the exception of the "royals." Yes, the British monarchy need not follow these rules. They certainly may choose to incorporate these noble traits and some members of the family have....but the point remains.....the royals need not worry about bills, education, work (advancement/promotion), home, healthcare, food, etc......no real concerns whatsoever.....except maybe.....mandatory travel to other Countries in furtherance of diplomacy (aka shake a few hands and have a few pictures taken), where their next vacation will be, and perhaps a concern about the necessity of ensuring "offspring." The taxpayers of GB support this family.....essentially. Finally, your British Royal Family is GERMAN! Let me explain. First, in 1714 Queen Anne died childless and the next-best claim - or at least the next best Protestant claim, which was an important factor - was George I, king of Hannover. There was a Highland rebellion to try and put the Catholic James Stewart on the throne but it failed. George I spoke German and French but no English, and was regularly off in Hannover running things there. He and his successor George II were regularly criticised for dragging Britain into continental wars on behalf of Hannover. Fast-forward to Queen Victoria, a direct descendant of the Georges and a member of the house of Hannover. She cemented the German connection by marrying Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and taking his surname, changing the Royal House to that of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. In World War I, the then king, George V, decided to change the name to Windsor, as "Saxe-Coburg-Gotha" was a bit too German for everyone's tastes. So yes, by ancestry if not by actual nationality, language and culture, our royal family are German. Except for Prince Philip, he's Greek. But we need not worry bout such trivial matters. So their German....just keep that old, washed-out, outdated, immaterial, and mostly insignificant tradition of the privileged Lords and blue blood lazy folk AND the other.....citizens of GB who clearly must follow all the rules necessary for everyday living. What a joke
so much here, where to begin?...yes, the royal family is a mix of GERMAN plus a lot of Scottish.....but guess what? the vast majority of the PEOPLE of ENGLAND are....Anglo-Saxons....the Angles and the Saxons are 2 GERMAN tribes.....so it is a German royal family that matches GERMAN England...Phillip's family ruled Greece but he was NOT an ethnic Greek....his family was GERMAN....as for taxpayers supporting the Royals.....do a bit of research....long ago a deal was made that the Monarch turns over to the Treasury ALL the income from the vast properties that are owned by and entailed to the reigning monarch.....this is a gigantic sum each year....in return, the monarch receives the Civil List, which is a much lesser amount of money that the monarch splits up among family members who are dependent upon him...as for the cost of the royal properties and employees there, the UK will have to pay all that even if it did end the Royal Family....thus, the Royals cost the taxpayers NOTHING, and in fact the Royals contribute to the Treasury....they also benefit charity work by collecting multi-million of donations every year to the Prince's Trust, etc etc. ....Charlie even mentioned in his OATH yesterday that he will CONTINUE the long custom of the Monarch GIVING all the income from the Royal Properties that he now OWNS as a voluntary GIFT to the UK treasury....watch the video again of the ceremony and you will hear him make this GIFT to the people of the UK...GOD save the king!

Joe creating division? Don't make me laugh
Our monarchies are the backbone of our countries, the moral of our countries, no matter the political movements and fight for power amongs politicians. Long live the King!

God save the King from Spain
King Felipe of Spain? Yes, Felipe is the cousin of both King Charles and his mother.
No bro, I say that I say it from Spain, not the King of Spain.
Charles needs to learn how to control his temper if he wants to be a good king. I was shocked seeing him get upset over the ink pens and upset withn Camila because she was taking too long talking to people in crowd. I am not sure he will have the backbone or temerment for the job of being King.
I hope Charles keeps his promise to make the monarchy low key and scaled back.
that as what Edward VIII had planned, but he had to step down before he could do it....but you still need to keep up some of the splendor, uniforms, etc.
He’s been very adamant about that so I assume so
The monarchy has been getting scaled back for 400 years now, it no longer has as much influence as it used too
The British monarch represents the people as Head of State, but the real power lies in the Houses of Parliament.
It’s probably the opposite. The government is a front put up by those families to keep the con going… why does people’s critical thinking turn to mush sometimes?
Like God seriously put their family in charge himself? That’s what they believe and are built upon.
true, for the most part....BUT the King/Queen has the right to be informed of ALL important government actions, and the right to give advice and be listened to....2 important factors in this matter are [1] no law in the UK can be enforced unless the Monarch SIGNS it....the last time a ruler actually refused to sign was Queen Anne in 1707,,,BUT, we have no idea how many times a King has said "i will NOT sign that law UNLESS you CHANGE x, y, and z.".....so, COULD a King dare to make that threat?...this is where factor [2] comes into play....all officers and soldiers in the UK military and police must swear an OATH of absolute obedience and loyalty to the KING...and NO oath to obey Parliament or the prime minister....SO....if a King chose to exercise his fully lawful right to reject a law, the UK military is legally bound to obey HIM.,,,,would it?....so far no ruler has ever put this question to a tests... my guess is that in private, Queen Liz said many times "I will sign this law IF you make the following changes..." and the prime minister agreed, to prevent any possible confrontation with a monarch who has the sworn loyalty of ALL the armed forces.
I could be wrong, but doesn’t the king have the power to dissolve the Government?
Nothing last forever, and shall be replaced with new one.
I am happy to finally see CHARLES becoming KING. May GOD bless you KING CHARLES III

The monarch is not pretend or merely ceremonial - he is the embodiment of the nation
the actual commander in chief of His Majesty’s forces, the font of all justice pardon and patronage and the supreme Governor of the Church of England.
Thank You for that.. that was interesting to know..
God save the King 👑👑
Etc
Points well made tho mate ✌️🙏
I should add the king is the commander in chief and does have supreme command of every soldier sailor and airman however only the prime minister can order the launch of the U.K. trident hydrogen bombs.
So the powers of the monarch as commander in chief are vested in the prime minister as well. A general has to follow on order from the serving pm up unto the point the king fires the pm and appoints somebody else then they would legally have to obey that new kings first minister
Of course all fantasy and hypothetical but puts a spanner in the works re a clear definition of who’s in charge. ✌️
@@frazer3191 Thanks, Frazer! Yes, you Britons have a ''safety net'' that only monarchies have....if the ''bad guys'' capture Parliament and try to become tyrants, the Monarch is there to stop it...a hereditary monarch is perfect for this, because he already has all the money and fame anyone could wish for, and he is going to love the country and its people, of course, due to his family's 1000 reign...the monarch thus poses NO threat to democracy and is the perfect person to be in command the armed forces

What is that face he made when signing the second part 😂
I saw that too!
I can already see one not so admirable quality of Charles III when he got annoyed at 9:58 but at least he was genuine.
With all the centuries of choreographed and practiced nature of the ceremony I am surprised that they didn’t have an assistant during signing to help remove signed paper and the tray.
And they should use modernize a bit perhaps use turn chair instead of dragging it
He’s under immense pressure
I was just thinking the same thing...why wasn't this rehearsed so the assistant knew the exact moment to step in and remove the tray out of the way? You would think with such an important ceremony the assistant would know what to do and when to do it.
