Nice one, I still haven’t been able to get ableton/touchosc to connect, wireless, cabled w/touchosc bridge or otherwise, lol, but finding the new version of touchosc, which you can edit on iPad vs MacBook like this video, is dope.
Hi, there. I have just bought Touch OSC for iPad. I need it to work as an launchpad for my Ableton Live. I'm having a really hard time to configure properly it. For example: I want to create buttons to activate/deactivate the REC button of each track. I tried independent (push and toggle) buttons and also multi, but can't make them work properly. I need a button to arm a track. I crated a toggle button. I press the button and the track ir armed. Button light is on. I press the button to disarm the track, the button light os off. Ok. But if I need to arm a different track, (with the first track armed) the first button keeps the light on. So now I have 2 buttons with light on and only one track armed. It does not work as it should. Also, I tried Multi buttons but they didn't work as well. The only way I could do that was turning off the feedback. But without feedback I won't know which tack is armed. Can someone help me? Please.
Noticed that when you mapped the markers and selected the different songs and pressed play, the play head just continued to play from the beginning. I'm having similar issues when trying to map a controller I've created in Touch OSC. Do you think you could speak to how to trouble shoot some issues with Touch OSC and map more effectively?
Loving the app. I downloaded it based on this video. I've got it working to trigger tracks etc. Struggling to get volume sliders to work. I'm sure i'll figure it out!
Danny & Vivo, when you add faders make sure to enable Type: Control change ; assign a free MIDI channel and CC number (I start with 7) and invert your range if you want your TouchOSC faders to mimic the Live faders. Assign different CC numbers for each additional fader. You may also want to adjust the max parameter in Live once you MIDI map your TouchOSC faders to Live's channel faders. Happy programming :)
I think you should install a rtpMIDI from www.tobias-erichsen.de/software/rtpmidi/rtpmidi-tutorial.html, rtpMIDI looks like a clone of Apple's MIDI networking on Windows. Hey Will (or anyone else that may be able to answer this), Thanks for putting together this video. For the life of me, I can't get TouchOSC to connect to Ableton Live. I've searched and watched hundreds of videos with no luck. I'm under the impression that I need to have LiveControl to make everything work but I've installed LiveControl and it doesn't respond when I launch it. When I follow the steps in your video above, I try connecting my iPad via Midi and I get the following error every time. Help! Anyone! fe80::a3:1e2f:afab:7f2b:5004 didn’t respond to the connection request. Check the address and port, and any firewall or router settings. (15:25:04)
Hello sir. My name is Ralph Garrett and I’m a keyboardist. I wanted to ask you how much would you charge if I asked could you create a Ableton TouchOSC template that would be SUPER convenient for me live performances to use on my iOS devices. If so, I can send you my Ableton template for reference to create and understand what I’m aiming for. Thanks and let me know at your convenience.
Hi, thanks for your tutorial....I have a question. I have all my locators already assigned to mac keyboard 1,2,3,4, exc....Is it possible to have a locator assigned both to the mac keyboard and also to TouchOSC? Thank you!
is there a 64 bit version for live control? it does not seem to work with mac os catalina. I can use all of the other layouts for creating midi mapping on ableton but I cannot connect live control anymore after updating. Apple is only supporting 64 bit applications now and this seems to be a 32 bit.
Have u ever conected a Windows PC to a Mac? I would like to give my old laptop to the sound tecnititian, so he can do my levels in the ableton session on my mac.
Excellent tutorial ! But I’ve tried with live control layout and can not drive Ableton with this app ! However I buy touchable 3 and touchable pro ! Very happy with touchable 3 with ableton 10 but with touchable pro I have problem to connect with ableton 10 an d 11 ! Have you testing this app ? Thanks for your answer
Thanks for the vid! Do you happen to know how we can send data back to Touch OSC, so it refreshes the state of a controller while playing back a track from the computer? thx
the state of the controller should automatically be in sync with all the changes you make in Ableton, you can go into preferences and make sure the track and sync is turned on
Can touch OSC be setup to display track information from Ableton? so when using backing tracks I can see the name of the current song and what song is next.
Thanks for the tutorial!! Just one question, is it possible to use touchosc with a camera connection kit to midi to control ableton? How can I set this up?
I had 3 macs and 2 ipads, and every time the connection was torture. I have successfully connected many times, but this is not a thing that you can learn once and not have any more problems. At the moment, I'm trying to connect the mac to touch osc again, but this time the link to the installer does not work (the file was uploaded more than 10 years ago, so I'm not surprised).
hello will, I run 5 songs in ableton and i want all of the songs control or triggered in same page with push buttons (labeled with verse, chorus, bridge etc.) is it possible or I need to make another page for every song... thanks..
Good Video. Thank you. When i create faders or rotary it woks ok changing values from Ipad to my DAW. But when I move parameters with mouse in my DAW it dosn"t change faders or rotary in Ipad. So it it like having a midi simli midi controler without rotary faders or encoders. Do you know any solution?
Hello, i`m having an issue with a pad controller made on touchOSC. When i trigger the pad that is some sort of error. Like and double trigger. It is triggering the drum rack twice at each touch on the pads. Can anyone help with some solution? I've tried to set each push button on touchOSC editor in every possible configuration (notes, velocity and all)... but i keep having this bug. Sorry my bad english.
What settings in OSC do you need to make the fader work? I'm trying to program the fader to fade out the Master volume. Also, is there a way to program a button to automatically fade out the song like the Playback app?? Thanks!!!!!!

Thanks for the Video Will..!!i follow lot of your Video.., great stuff !!!, im using Touch OSC with Ableton 9 for a few month now..and it works really great..but there's 1 thing that i found lately, the Editor seems to have a bug, or maybe im doing it wrong...sometimes the CC Value change the message it self ( i check it with Midi Monitor App )..and i tried to redo everything from scratch, sometimes it works, but some other time it makes that thing again...im curious if is it because the Combination of the Version of the OSC Editor and the OSX that im using, or just a simple bug...maybe if u could give me suggestion for the best setup combination...im Using 10.10.5 MAC OSX, Touch OSC Editor 1.8.5, and Ableton Live Suite 9.7.5 OH AND ONE MORE THING...!! I also found than my LIVE sometime behaving weird ( it happened twice already ) , the playhead jumps randomly to another area ( not at a specific markers )...the song just skipped it self...and this weird behaviour happened since im using Controllers ( including touch OSC)...are you ever have the same problems like that? please advice.. thank you so much Will..
@@fromstudiotostage Thanks for the prompt reply. I understand that you're referencing material covered elsewhere, but it might be helpful to update this tutorial and include that information - especially the first 3 minutes - rather than send folks hunting. It could be as a result of the release of iPadOS since this video was made, but getting Ableton to communicate with an iPad seems less than straightforward, and there's a lack of relevant info out there... Plus, the other efforts I've seen are far less engaging than your content.

Thanks Jorge! I think you’ll love TouchOSC!
@@fromstudiotostage Yup, already tried it following the steps outlined in your video and it is working!

paste this code on your terminal: networksetup -setv6off Wi-Fi.

Your setting interface is completely different than mine. Where is the core Midi?
Is there a way to put "labels" on the pads or faders in touchOSC? Would be helpful if there are several locaters mapped.
Yes! That’s how I do it so it’s easy to follow
