- Here's a look at the new Series 3 Roller Cabinet from US GENERAL. Aside from the lack of a soft-close option, I'd say this is a VERY well made tool box.

Fairly good review. Since Harbor Freight does not list all measurements, it would be nice to inform that the larger (higher) drawers measure 4-7/8" vertical depth, basically 5", and the smaller drawers measure 2-3/8" vertical depth, basically 2-1/2". The widest width drawers measure 36-7/8", the second width drawers measure 22-1/8" and the third width drawers measure 11-7/8". The sliding depth (away and towards you) all measure 19-1/4" deep.

Good review. On a contrarian note, I purchased this same setup in part because it _did not_ have soft close drawers. Those things drive me nuts. Opening requires pulling past a threshold, at which point the drawer flies open, potentially spilling any contents not locked down in organizers. Give me an old-fashioned smooth-pulling/closing drawer slide anyday. Oh - I also removed all of the plastic drawer latches.
A couple other noteworthy pluses of the USG Series 3 cabinets... drawers slide _completely_ open, so I can easily get to the socket in the far back corner. And there are a number of modular options for attached side tables, cabinets, etc.
If you put a small screw and flat washer in on top of the latch it eliminates the latch without having to remove the whole thing. Then there is a detent that will hold the drawer if you don't push it in to hard, if you push it in hard then it opens hard. On my gen 2 I had to remove the latch and put a couple of magnet blocks behind each drawer. All in all it's a good solid box. Mines a 52 sitting on a gen2 72 inch.
Great video. I’m kicking around the idea of selling my 5-Drawer US General service cart and updating to a roll cab like you have. I probably should have gone with a cabinet to begin with but the price of the carts was too attractive. I’m just a DIY’er/weekend warrior so my cart just sits stationary as it is where it fits in my home garage, and I don’t really benefit from it being a mobile cart. I may eventually do the top box as well like you have as it seems like a good place to charge and store all my batteries for my cordless tools. I saw the power drawer they have on the bigger boxes but I think the top like you have would be better.
It’s a really nice setup. I’ll warn you - you’ll need at least three able bodied adults to put the top box onto the bottom. Super heavy! 🇺🇸🤘
Very nice! Just looked at this very exact red setup at HF 2 hours ago. Love the classic red. Not sure if need this 42" or the smaller setup though.

I can't figure out how to attach my top chest to my bottom box. Does it just sit on top of the bottom box? I figured there would be bolts that hold the two together?

I cannot find anything on the height of the top box as an alone piece when you open the lid. Did you happen to measure that at all or are you willing too??😂 thanks if you do!! I’m trying to fit it underneath where I have my work station from a converted Husky shelf. The website has just the height if the box is closed. So I guess I can add about 8-10 more inches if it’s open due to the angle but not sure

I wish they had a option to let you specify draw order and draw size to make the box more to your particular needs ,. Be nice if you could swapp the drawer on the lower left to right.

How deep is the wide top drawer on the base cabinet? Trying see if it would fit my sockets on the hansen organizer trays. My big husky won't unless i remove the drawer liner. Kind of a bummer
It’s deep. I have all my air tools in that drawer - some of them pretty thick. It’s a great toolbox thus far.

We just purchased this but we’re at a loss as how to get the top put on bc of the weight/size. How did you get it put on the bottom chest?
I used my adjustable work table. A friend helped me lift it on there & then we slid it onto the box. It’s extremely heavy.

How deep are the drawers? I have a lot of deep sockets mounted on organizers (standing up). Thanks
As deep as the box is. The drawers differ in height. All the numbers should be on the website 🤘🇺🇸
I guess I wasn't clear with my question. What I need to know is how high each of the drawers are so I can stand up some deep sockets on a holder. I have been unable to find these measurements on the website. Thanks @@jimmysgarage9068

How tall are you? Just for reference of the total height of both boxes. I’m 5’9”
The Navy says I’m 5’8. Sticking with that.
Will the drawers still lock with the key even when the drawer latches are taken off?
Yeah. On the bottom box if you look at the back of each drawer you'll see a little silver plate riveted in place. The other side of the plate has a notch that gets engaged by a bar that hangs behind the drawers and is actuated by the key lock. Locking the box drops the bar down, unlocking it pulls the bar up. The top box operates in a similar fashion with those cutouts you can see in the back of the drawers. The outside latches are just to keep the drawers from potentially sliding open on their own. Snap-On boxes use the same setup, other boxes (Mac, Matco, Icon, etc.) use spring detents on the drawer slides.

Great idea, remove all draw stops, you know, the things that stop it falling over if tilted or a few drawers left open.
Do you see a lot of heavy tool boxes tip over?
@jimmysgarage9068 There's an entire subsection of UA-cam videos dedicated to it, all it takes is one side to raise half an inch while moving it, all draws slide open and it falls over
@@BigDaddyButthead90 point well taken but I'll be taking delivery of two roller cabinets and a top in about 3 weeks. I'll remove those plastic strips too. If I move it I'll close it and lock it. Problem solved.
@@chiph1841there is a soft detent and push a little harder and there is a hard detent that takes a good bit of effort to open
