This is the HOTONE Vulcan Five-O. It's a very small 5W solid state take on the classic Peavey. And it's pretty good! The thing is, even if it's not as accurate as you want, it still rocks. Hard. And that's all you can ask. Five One Five O tone muscle in a little tiny SS box? Check it out.
You give me more information about a 5 W amp in six minutes then I could’ve ever hoped for. Wonderful job. And you’re playing is sublime
Out of all I’ve heard this one takes the cake
Your videos of these amps are so good! You really show what they're capable of. Your playing is great and you don't linger on any specific style for too long, thank you! 🤘
That's very kind of you, thank you. All the best to you. :)
Wow sounds great it's now on my next to get list. great demo!
Not bad. Not bad at all. Amazing what such a small amp can sound like!
Oh my word, you rock! Awesome playing matey,.
I use this as a preamp for my bass. Awesome clear distorted bass tone
Another great video. Sounds great...
I have the purple wind and diamond mojo. Love them.
Do they take pedals well?
Love it, great little thing
OK,OK I give! Ordered one today! Everything remains to be seen, but all that tone and no broken windows. SOLD!!
Hi! How good is the clean tone of this amp?
@@abdeljalalsinapilo906 Unless you turn down on the pot, no clean tone. It's great at two things, (1) keeping the police away (2) Real deal EVH amp tone!
@@jimmyfischbeck9872 sorry, what do you mean? When i turn down the gain all the way down, is it really clean?
@@abdeljalalsinapilo906 The pot is the knob with the numbers. Also look at demos of the Peavey 5150 on line. If you want clean buy a Fender or a Vox.
@@abdeljalalsinapilo906 This is made to sound like the 5150 amp which is a high gain amp. Pretty sure this will not clean up as much as you're looking for. I believe the Mojo Diamond model is made to sound like a Fender Deluxe style amp and would probably clean up the way you're looking for but then it will have the gain or distortion of this model.
Mate. Got the purple wind . Brought it thinking it was going to be just another gimmick. Well it packs away in my bag with my Steinberg in my bags to take to work . Fly in fly out mining camp .. absolutely love it . 10/10 from me .
Do these amp heads make any sound when not connected to a cabinet speaker? Cheers
Nice amp! nice cabnet!
goddamn I wish I could noodle around like that ... Id never leave the house , and the neighbors would hate me even more, coz Id TURN IT UP !!!!!!!!!!!!! :o)
Better play with your current skill, if you want them to hate you.
nice job brett !!
For me this one sounds the best. Eagle's is scooped AF. The bigghest difference and disadvantage of this instead of real tube amp is loose palm muted sound. The real deal is much, but much tighter
sounds great! :)
WoW...that rocks ...cool
definitely a bedroom amp option.. perhaps even low volume band rehearsals.. for about the price of an inexpensive pedal and it will power a speaker cab.. what's not to like?
Or if you do what I do, and send the FX send of the Hotone into the FX return of a bigger amp, you can get the tone of the Hotone in any loudness. I run it through a Fender Mustang 150w amp and the Hotone runs rings around any of the sounds I can get out of the digital modelling.
Just send the thing to the damn mixer and retire your stack like all today’s working guitarists, jeez
However the brand is spelt, the little amp is definitely a hot one!
Already have the british invasion (AC30) from them. Mabey this will be next.
Great video! I really like your relaxed and no-nonsense attitude.
Do these amp heads make any sound when not connected to a cabinet speaker? Cheers
Fantastic!!!!!!!!!
Cool video and nice playing....
Would you know the difference between the Purple Wind and the Vulcan Five-O model? Thanks.
Phil
Since you have tried all this great gear, I would love to see what you use on your board or boards. Video Request! Please!
Ironically and at the risk of disappointing, I don't use pedals at all. Or amps. I run Fractal Audio gear (Axe-FX II, AX8 and Axe-FX III) on stage and have done so for the last five or six years. Pedals and amps are a lot fun but often fraught with danger and/or inconvenience in touring situations where you're flying a lot and at the mercy of a backline company. So I bring my own everything (Fractal) and I don't I'll ever look back.
Finally, Peavey getting the cred it deserves for its greatest amp.... NOT the 5150!
This could make for an awesome pedal platform.
Pedals not so good going into the front of the amp as it doesn't clean up very well but using those joyo pedals like American sound and active into the return of the FX loop it's like a different amp and u can stack ur pedals from there ;)
Plug straight into it and into a cab. Doesn't sound the same does it ?
I’m newish to the whole guitar gear stuff but say I have a fender head and I want more gain could I put this in front of it kind of like a pedal? Or does it not work like that
cullen cavanaugh it might, you could also try sending the Fx send from this amp into the Fx return or guitar input of the fender and see what happens. Go slow with volume if you’re going t to try this out.
Would a 5150 overdrive pedal work good on this amp to really get that 5150 distortion or would it get saturated?
MojoZoso hey Phil McKnight actually tried this out in his video review of another hotone nano legacy amp and it worked great and sounded awesome.
I still have the "British Invasion". It does produce a desirable guitar tone But, It's buzzy when your not playing anything, like something isn't grounded in the amp or something. If it were QUIET , that would raise my respect for these amps in a huge way. They will always be interesting and CUTE mini amps. I even got the Mini extension speaker for mine. It looks like a small animial, Monkey, lemur or ferret etc., could rock out with it on my crowded desk top if they wanted to ( or could for that matter) ditch the buzz and these will go somewhere into rock history.
try a noisegate pedal to get rid of unwanted noise.
If you turn the gain right down, would it be completely clean?
Calamity Johnny in the Andertons review of these amps they showed that this one had very little difference in gain settings so ... no not in this case. In this case it’s always saturated. Some of the others did though.
Hi.Nano's legacy included send and return. No probs to connect (in send and return) Mooer Radar & Mooer prramp Mini005?
My idea it's an home set in a very small space.
Tks
You should probably get a preamp pedal instead if you want a headphone cab sim
how does it do with a 4x12 cab?
Ive had mine for about a year then randomly, a sizzle, strong chemical burning smell, and then dead. Im trying to take it apart now (a week out of factory warranty) and the smell has only intensified.
Be careful where you buy these from, if its too good to be true it probably is. It was a great amp, for the time i used it. About 10-20 times?
Is this only a pre-amp, sure? It doesnt have power-amp included.
1:09 what are green backs? Celestion V30?
Does it sound well with tube screamer?
@Somewhere over the 🌈 if you want a modern metal tone you usually use one as a boost. Tightens up the tone.
I haven't played this one, but the Mojo Diamond (fender tweed) and it responded well to OD all the way to death metal pedals.
How good is the clean tone of this amp? You didnt seem to play clean tones in the demo
its a single channel amp, there is no clean tone
There is no clean on this one, even with the gain at -0-.
Dang.
Do you put a camera wobble in post production? It’s a good touch.
Sometimes I do use the 'handheld' plugin, yes. I get bored looking at static me when I'm editing so I figure you guys probably do too. So I give the frame just a tad of movement to make it a little more alive. I've seen it used not so subtly in gritty docos and such.
Im just curious and wondering why a amp such as 5 watts can drive cabs like 2x12 or 4x12... just curious 🤔
Just because a speaker is rated for 30w or a full cab is rated at 120w doesnt mean it takes that to drive the speakers. It also has to do with impedance of the speaker setup. If you have a 4x12 with an impedance of 4 ohms but rated at 120w a 5w amp head will drive it easier than a 4x12 with an impedance of 16ohms at 50w. The lower the impedance the easier it is for the amp to drive them. I have a 5w lunchbox valve amp which will drive a 30w speaker at 8 ohms which it quieter than the same amp running 2x12 at 4 ohms which are rated for 120w
But can it hold up to playing with a drummer.
only miked
6505/5150 originals and copies often sound harsh and overly bright to my taste. However while the 5150 is still not my favorite I think the speaker and amp combination sounds just right on this demo...
Ewe a headless guitar, oh wait.
That made me chuckle way more than it really should have.
These nanos are loud AF for "5 watts".
Got one new for 50 dollars US
