I own one of these, and I really must say: buying it is probably THE best investment I've ever done as far as gear goes! It really does that plexi thing very well, and with the right pedals in front (boost/gain), even better! At only 5 watts, it's still more than loud enough for home use (my volume control rarely reaches noon), and despite being a very cheap little amp, it still has an effects loop, AND aux in/phones out connectors - a true bargain! As for the name: a famous plexi user once wrote a song called 'Purple Haze'...I think that is the purple-plexi connection. The same guy also wrote another song called 'The Wind Cries Mary', so there you go... :)
How would this work out with just a reverb immerse pedal etc for ambient as I am in a camper and do not gig. The effects loop is what's kick ass. Plus i could use the small cabinet in here they make i guess for just ambient noodling. Thoughts? I see these for 126 and then 70 for the little cab.
That sounds pretty darn good to my ears. It would be perfect for home practice

Hendrix supposedly used his Marshall amp on the song "Purple Haze". They made a hendrix inspired amp that was purple in commemoration of this.

This series seems like a good way for a small/home studio to build up a library of sounds for a relatively small price.
They are great...we did a video of the "Heart Attack" their version of a MB Rectifier...that sounded really good...that video should be out by next week

I think purple is a way of hinting @ getting a Hendrix-like tone.. or more specifically Hendrix tone on purple haze.
That would be my guess too!
Purple is indicative of the purple plexi made by Marshall back in the day.

Any cabinet will work.
Can I plug this to an solid state amp (peavey rage 258) like a bypass thing of some sort or you can only run thru it with an cabinet speaker? Sorry I dont know much about gears and stuff so here I am lol
You can probably disconnect the speaker from your Peavey and plug it into the speaker...this is a solid state amp so I wouldn’t plug this into another amp...

Woodstock-Hendrix-the ONLY Endorsee of Marshall products who never had to pay for his Amps. Everyone else did. Why Jimi? Because his name was James Marshall Hendrix! Maybe they were related! Lol. But yeah, that’s the story.

I got the british invasion and did not like it. I was going for a marshall sound and was mislead by the "british" only to discover later that the british invasion is modeled after a vox amp hahaha so my question is, should I give this a shot? Im going for a guns n roses type sound (with pedals of course)
You could try it...it’s a slightly more vintage sound...but it might work

Purple haze
I just bought that product but never gives me any overdrive sound. At gain max, only gives me clean crunch.
Check your pickup height, they could be too low. If they're out by a few millimetres and your output can be halved. Or swap out for some higher output pickups?

Purple Haze and Hendrix tone / era. LIttle Wing, Castles in the Sand, Hey Joe, Foxy Lady, etc. Played with a strat, it is nice with quack of single coils.
Plug it into a 10" or 12" speaker and will project.
