  • This video discusses Canadian Prepper's video "A Dark Warning to All the Real Preppers". CP has realized the main obstacle to long term survival is attrition. He has not yet found the solution to long term survival which is improvised and expedient construct and manufacturing as well as small scale manufacturing utilizing a 5-10 program to equip security elements and the labor elements in a community from which the resources for survival can be manufactured and distributed.

Fuel prices are so high that I went to the car dealership and test drove three cars to run my errands. Just one of many inflation fighting tips

Great content as usual Mr. Dodson! Agreed, CP is finally getting it. Maybe he'll go back to his roots when I really enjoyed his content and maybe he'll take a few hints from what you just said. CP would be more well rounded and unstoppable at that point.

It is, some times, difficult for people to keep the entire paradigm in perspective. It is comprised of many, many active dynamics that are simultaneously unfolding along a single timeline in constant motion.
But it is your position on that timeline that will dictate your actions. And that position, by definition, will change.
Now this "timeline" can unfold in numerous different ways. So it would seem futile to even attempt "predicting" or "presuming" the specifics of it. But that isn't true. As it turns out, there are actually a limited set of possibilities once certain timelines of events are set in motion. Once specific criteria have been met, each possible outcome is very similar to any other. Leaving room for only negligible and often times inconsequential differences.
At that point, you are dealing less with chaos...and more with a domino effect type of chain reaction. Some truths are unavoidable and a great many of these truths will come into play as the SHTF timeline unfolds.
Now, why have I said/typed all of this?
It is absolutely crucial that we disclose the nature of the scenario prior to discussing its potential timeline. I hope we all agree that "details matter". Scenarios give birth to timelines. And nonsensical fantasy comes from assuming impossible positions on a timeline that cannot occur within a specific scenario.
Imagine an author writing "...so he held his breath for an hour" ...or... "We were each on day 17 of not having a single drop to drink." We would all immediately call BS and stop reading that nonsense. But that's only because we have an understanding of certain unavoidable "truths". And, given the scenario, we know these people cannot exist on the position of the timeline they claim to exist on.
My point is that I would caution all preparedness content creators to first explain not only the initial scenario, but also their position on the timeline before discussing items like "drones" or even "sewing machines". Which phase of the scenario are we in? Is this all the way out into the recovery phase? Or are we still desperately attempting to pass through the bottleneck? How many people are left? So very many questions must be answered. Or else it's just nonsensical fantasy.

Interesting perspective. From my viewpoint, our current position is today in the timeline of SHTF. This removes the theoretical from the discussion. The fog of war is in effect. Each of us must look through the dark lens and determine what they must do to position themselves for long-term survival. Since each of us started today in a different situation, each scenario is individualized even though they may run parallel or intersect with others. My position has always been to use improvised and expedient methods as well as sewing machines and other means of production to improve my current situation and my future situation. This way, my effort flows from the past through the present and into the future regardless of the event horizon.

@@dodsonarmsco My apologies, my friend. That wasn't my intention when I mentioned the sewing machines. I have them as well and for the same reasons. My point was more for video creators in general...including the video you reference at the beginning. There are some preps (be they items or skills) that are drawn to certain points of the timeline like a magnet. It's good to "have" the diapers and bottles. But they will serve little of their intended purpose on day 21 of the pregnancy.
I'm just campaigning for prepping channels to root their advice in realistic scenarios by including the position on the timeline where such advice is intended to be used. There's too much "closing the barn door after the horse has gone" type of advice out there.

@JamieHitt no need for an apology, I thought it was a good comment. I though it did a good job bringing up the idea of a continuous flow into and through shtf vs the more common belief that shtf is a future event rather than something currently occurring and expanding.

@@dodsonarmsco Yeah. Sadly. Anyone can look around now and see that we've already entered the bottle. Technically, we've always been in it. But we perceived so much stability and abundance that we couldn't see the walls of the bottle all around us. Soon, the lucky among us will enter the neck...and some hard choices will have to be made at high speeds. God willing, I'll see you on the other side.
