There's something that SAS survival guide can't teach you ! Real life wilderness experience. You( anyone ) can read a book about survival all you want but if you( the people reading survival guides ) and don't practice, apply that knowledge to real world wilderness experiences it pretty much does no good ! Because there's much more you will learn being out in the thick of it, applying what you know , you'll never learn the best, a better way to use the skills.
I can't believe it either i h8 to h8 on videos you did a great job i just think these items can just be thrown in a sandwich bag n food right n tight n it'll be waterproof also you have all the electronic things how tf are you plan on using those sorry for talking crap just imho this was a waste of my time
"And a paper clip for office type applications". "Hey Bob, do you have a paper clip I can have"? "Sure, gimme like 5 minutes to get it from the mini tin that I keep inside another mini tin that I always carry on me." EDC tin 3.0, tin inside a tin inside a tin inside a ballon that I swallow that's attached to fishing line that's tied to my front tooth...for easier retrieval.
@TheUrbanPrepper I am a a bit of a "prepper" and love the outdoors. When I saw the contents of your EDC kit I wanted to be critical as they lack any of the every day items I use. As I patiently watched and waiting for the end of the video to post some critique or negative comment, I slowly began to realize the genius of your kit. You are just in a different type of forest or jungle than I typically am in. Yours is the concrete jungle/office. Your kit began to make perfect since to me. I realized I was the one lacking the preparation. So I am going to make a nice little city tin like yours, and honestly looking forward to it. For all the Armchair survivalists bashing the video, they just lack the intelligence to sit through something that doesn't make since to them long enough to try to see the other persons point of view. Afraid to learn something... I learned a lot from this. Thanks for posting!
This is good! This is an EDC. Something you can throw in a shorts pocket with your wallet and keys. I'm sure you often times layer on top of what you carry when it's necessary, but I'm sick of some of these guys saying they carry 3 flashlights and 12 knives with them to go to the gym or walk down to their mailbox and back.
Altoids recently started (at least in my area) selling the little metal folding top tins/canister things. I find for anyone carrying earbuds take three fingers and wrap starting from your jack to your actual earbuds the entire cable length semi loosely around your fingers and then tuck them inside for a good way to store your earbuds. they stay untangled and protected
I used to carry a Swiss Army Spartan knife -- very basic, large blade, screw driver, awl, toothpick and tweezers, I think. And a cork screw. The latter seems a bit esoteric, right? Then one day I was at a small conference that had a reception at the end of the day, with beer and wine provided by the organizers (not catered). I was chatting with another attendee when I heard someone call out, "Does anybody have a cork screw?" About 40 people laughed and shrugged their shoulders. As I walked over and handed them my Spartan, they were amazed...and I had quite a few new wine-drinking pals. A couple years back I was the only one on my floor of about 20 offices who had a small flashlight ( 2AA Mini-Mag) when the power failed. All my brief cases/"man purses" and computer bags have a flashlight. Why wouldn't you? The point is, EDC is a very personal thing. No one has to be a death's door from lack of a paper clip to make it a simple, useful tool to have when needed. Yes, I was a Boy Scout. "Be prepared" is about mindset. It is as much about learning to think (or more) than it is about what gear you have stashed away. BTW, my key ring has a Micra on it and a micro flashlight. Those who believe pre-thinking your possible daily requirements for handling small problems is somehow paranoid are "non-thinkers." They will be the first to piss and moan when they can't open their wine...and will be the first to trip over each other in the dark when the lights go out.
You are so right! I carry a Swiss Army knife, small flashlight, and other small basic items in my backpack. It’s not like I’m hoarding and my backpack isn’t stuffed to the gills but it just gives me a peace of mind. I was in the military so I too have that preparation mindset. Some friends make friendly jokes about my edc carry but we have been in situations where my gear was needed 😎
Ah! I see you're men of culture as well! I always carry with me the Swiss Army that my mom gave to me like >20 years ago and some analgesics just in case. The memory cards it's a plus if you add some official documents in it if SHTF (earthquakes, hurricanes and stuff like that).
I carry the tiny swiss army knife. No corkscrew on that. But I have a corkscrew in my travel toiletry bag. No more calling room service for a corkscrew!
Brandon topchev crime rate very high, incompetent "comunist" goverment, no work oportunitys this year we have some elections lets hope the best I keep preparing my self and family for the worst
I have no idea why people are giving you shit. Sure you are probably caring on you more than I would but it isn't my place to judge what you carry. I copied you and made one of these tins for my car and love it. I have used it multiple times the past few months mainly for my lighter and multitool. Thanks for the great video and thanks for taking the time to share what is important to you.
brasstrombone9 I figure it goes with the territory of making UA-cam videos. I usually check out the channels of people who "give me sh*t" and I have never found one where they too post videos. I feel that those that actually make videos to upload on UA-cam have a good understanding of the amount of work that goes into creating one, especially ones that require a lot of planning, and therefor see things from a wider frame of mind (such as yourself). Sure, I would not expect everyone to want the exact same contents as I do. However, I feel that the organization and strategy could be leveraged towards custom tins of their own. So in the end, I usually take the extreme negative feedback with just a grain of salt. :)
TheUrbanPrepper Years have passed here and I am just passing through Your expression stopped me when you wrote ((So in the end, I usually take the extreme negative feedback with just a grain of salt.))Which made me give you positive feedback and Thank you Sir for Uploading the video and make time to share some thing from your heart
Very redundant and most items are for city/office folk that will freak out before going to EDC kit if shit happens - this is one of those " I cant get that time back" videos...if half of your "EDC" kit contains items for making sure your nails look good, something to pick salad out of your teeth, 1 pill so you dont shit yourself, spare button with kevlar thread (wtf?), whistle for someone violating your personal space or having a collapsable pen - then you need a purse, not an altoids can
Ikr lol. Not to mention useless. 911 can direct you to all those numbers. Or 411. What u should have is a list of the emergency services number for various countries. "Whats the number for 911?!" Its no joke. I mean it kind of is. But 911 wont put you through to local law enforcement in all countries. Its 111 or 999 i think in the UK for example.
@@TinManOne9 The video guy will be trimming his nails, writing farewell notes to his daughter and crying because his phone didnt fit in the altoid. I will be busting out my hash, pipe and getting high...
I am nine years too late - but I love the idea of not only a lens cleaning cloth - but a necessary phone number list - that is brilliant - considering we are all so use ot having that information in our mobile phone, but the concept that if the phone is low on power, you have a time and possible life saver.
Your prepping/EDC videos are by far my favorite on UA-cam. Super high quality, great content & you have an interesting personality. Keep the vids coming!
HAHA! But really, lace up your boots with 20 FEET of 550 PARACORD!!! I laced up each boot with one end of a 10' length of 550 paracord (1100 was too thick) & with the rest of the paracord I braided it with a series of slipknots & tucked this braided excess under my paracord laces. The very last end of the braided paracord is used to finish lacing/tying up my boot. Now when I need cordage I can momentarily untie my "paracord shoestring" & from only one end, pull out as much as I need, cut it off & still be able to re-tie my shoelaces! So with the exception of my dress shoes & one pair of tennies, I walk around everyday with 20' worth of 550 paracord & unless people take a close look, no one ever really notices.
Those of you not subscribed to this channel are missing out a lot. TUP has the best content on UA-cam. His knowledge and organization is second to none
I used to have little kits like this. I'm older now and have found that coming up with solutions on the fly saves pocket space and promotes ingenuity. If I had a handy kit for problems I have each different day, the kit would have to be different each day and still be big as a 5 gallon bucket. Just prepare your mind by being smart and you won't have to waste your pocket space.
It's not wasting space by keeping a small tin of items in pocket. You're only limiting your ability to deal with situations the less gear you have on you. That's up to you, but don't tell others they're wrong for wanting more options to work with. I say each individual chooses what they want, some less, some more. I prefer more options, within the weight and size I can put up with on a daily basis. Some people carry less than you, would you listen to them and leave home with nothing in pockets? 🤔😋
@@richardminnick6797 And that brains memory has learned enough lessons to rightly tell me that the more items I have in my pocket, the easier it'll be to deal with random situations throughout the day. 😉
You know, it blows my mind that all of the stuff that I would normally have floating around in a junk drawer, pockets, etc would be useful to have on an everyday basis. Particularly if it can all fit into an Altoids tin. Love this video!
@@jag6262 yup. Since i started seeing these i actually put together an edc kit of my own. Its a backpack so i can carry bigger stuff like rolls of tape a first aid kit in an altoids tin butterfly pliers rain poncho etc.
Maybe not but certainly great for when you travel and need to sew something or clip your nails. It's a handy little tin when your on vacation or away from home.
Nail clippers underrated: happens surprisingly often you get an annoying skin tag or chip a nail it’s just nice to be able to cut it off with clippers - a knife or swiss army knife scissors are not great substitutes.
I am SO GLAD that I found your channel. You've definitely earned a new subscriber. All of your ideas are great... but my favorite is having a pic of (in your case- Kid Prepper) loved ones. Thanks & God Bless.
in that amount of space, you could get either 4-6€ 1000-1500 Yen just in coins. If you are in an european city and your car rans out of gas, you can actually either put some liters into the tank or if you're hungry, 1500 yen (3 relatively flat coins) in japan get you a very very generous lunch. So this is not as useful in the USA anymore to hide coins. (:
Thank you for this. I really want to say this is a good video for people. This kit is put together for real use. Mini Survival kits are nearly useless just due to the fact that 99.9% of people will never be in a survival situation. But nearly every one may get a splinter, need to sew on a button, or get caught in a room where the lights can go out during a storm. This is a great kit that should point people in a more realistic direction. Never hurts to carry "tools" you might need to use than carry a bunch crap you'll probably never Need, Good thinking mate!
Well, I say that this is a very helpful EDC, compact and complete, don't pay attention to the haters, this things are not only useful, but a training to your mind, to imagine various scenarios, what can you need, how can you use it, and stuff like that, it's not simple as someone can think; good job again.
Thanks. Don't worry. I have thick skin and don't take negative comments to heart. It goes with the territory of making UA-cam videos. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
I don't know where any of the stuff on this video can be of any significant use but a China marker is handy. Maybe this stuff should all go into a junk drawer or a small case of stupid stuff you may need.
I'm actually working on my urban altoids tin and came to your channel because your tins are always the best. Since I'm still in school, I can't have a lighter, knife, or multitool, but I used your tin as a basic idea for mine. :)
The mini Leatherman deleted the need for 3 of the things you have in the tin and opened up space for other things. You should look in to maybe putting mini chem lights in your tin as well That flashlight won't last forever. Also in your smaller tin, maybe some water purification tabs for that off chance that you are in an SHTF situation and you need water. I don't know about you, but I ain't drinking the water in DC. I'd drop the quarters though. In an emergency situation you're not gonna need to worry about putting money in a vending machine. In my tin I have fishing hooks and a few small sinkers. I wrapped some small 2lb test line around the outside of the tin and then covered it with electrical tape. Just my $.02.
Proton Mail lol I was thinking the same thing! Haha. Nail clippers, USB, whistle. If shit hit the fan or got to the point where you need a moral support picture of your son those numbers, USB etc wouldn't work. And you would get shot before you pulled out that tiny knife. 4 quarters wouldn't even buy you a skittle. Just keep change in your cup holder, a charger in your car or pocket. Lighter also. Use your teeth instead of the clipper. This is hysterical. I hope you don't need your SHTF tin.
Bobby G. The whole point of this is that it isn't a survival/shtf tin. It's just an everyday tin so you don't have to root through your bag/car for some change or a lighter. It just makes life easier
Rofl bullshit, those quarters are at the bottom of the damn tin. He would have to unpack this gay thing just to get to them lol. Just keep a damn dollar bill on you for fuck sakes
Every culture in the world has some kind of EDC kit so I don't understand the hate. Daily tools that will need or could use to make things easier, what's wrong with that?
Like a boy Scout always be prepared. Something like this edc tin is great to carry in a back pack when your going to a big city like Seattle or Portland and going on a walking shopping tour by metro bus.
Don't let a "clever" way of thinking limit your thought process. The numbers in case your phone is dead - useless on your dead phone. Emergency situation with a dead phone : 1) Someone comes by with a live phone, and you don't know the phone number of a single person you know. Opps. 2) Someone comes by with a phone that works, and you are able to meet up with whoever due to this miracle you were prepared for because your though process is not limited by....YOU. b
Interesting vid. I have kept Altoids in all my vehicles as a breath mint, of course, but when they are empty I have turned them into two burner candles. Good for backpacking. Waterproof matches taped inside on the lid. Also good for power outages. You have given me some new ideas for their use...like how many candles do I really need? (although I have started giving them away as gifts in the last few years) thanks!
I’m glad you enjoyed my responses. I don’t mind negative feedback. I try to answer everyone with respect, even though often times it is not reciprocated. I’m not sure why some viewers seem to be so taken aback by these Altoid Kit videos, or really any videos. We all have our hobby’s: video games, gardening, coding, fishing, etc. I just choose to focus on prepping and sharing a lot of my projects here on UA-cam. That seems to make certain people appalled for some odd reason. I’m glad that you and many others enjoy my videos. I’ll keep cranking them out and will continue to respond to the snide remarks as a gentleman. Thanks RJ!
Hey Cliff, Listen I just had something come up here at home with my mother and it made me think it would probably be a good idea for you to share this with your followers. You see my mother is prescribed several medications for a condition she has that mimics Diabetic Neuropathy. This means a couple of the meds she is prescribed are heavily regulated narcotics. Thing is, my mother like so many others carries so back up meds with her at all times in her purse in a little zip lock baggy. All the time not realizing if she were to be caught with these without her prescription she would go to jail. I don't think a lot of people realize that, and I know many people carry back up medication with them in various forms. Perhaps it would be a good idea to share this with your followers to inform them as well. Having been a state constable here years a ago I knew this and thought it was common knowledge, but it appears not. Have a good one! =)
This is pretty awesome, but I have a two word suggestion. Word economy. This could have been a 5 minute video. You'd get a lot more response if it were shorter.
My wife just got me a Victorinox SwissCard for my birthday. I think it would be perfect for a survival tin. I also think a Newman's Own mint tin makes a better container as the lid is flat and the tin itself is slightly larger.
+tetsubo57 Yeah, I have the lite one. And it fixes the need for tweezers, pen, and a flashlight found in this video. Although I'm guessing it is better be kept in the wallet rather than a tin like this.
+Anton Adelson The problem with that is the plastic can suffer stress over time. My old one broke. I made a guard for my new one to prevent that from happening again. In a tin it would be safer.
tetsubo57 May I ask you where you keep your wallet? The reason for this is because I keep my wallet in a bag and I imagine it'd go through a lot more stress if it was kept in my pant pocket. Especially the back one.
This was great!! I just thought of the Altoids case I have had in my car for a while and was about to throw away cause they had expired... I will throw away the altoids, but after watching this, definitely not the case!
I reuse recycle all types and sizes of pocket sizes of tins and fill them with useful things according to use and need in my work locker car glove box my nylon lunch bag and carry gum-mints in a small altoids tin. The possibilities are endless.
Thanks from a theatre geek, for including gaff tape rather than duck, duct, or gorilla. I will add that it can be torn along either axis, twisted to make a cord, will work as a splint, is waterproof and is not shiny [reflective]. It really does hold the world together,
Small price to pay when you really need a Snickers! lol. No, but seriously, putting it all back is no problem if you're trapped in a collapsed parking garage and really need a tiny light because your cell phone was smashed. Just saying.
Great kit!! I suggest adding a small spool of kevlar thread, a handcuff key and some snare/garotte wire. Could also add a couple water tabs and a couple Tylenol if you have room.
I like using altoid and other tins. I think I'll put a magnet on the back of one to keep on the fridge. Easy to grab on the way out the door. You can customize these tins as well. Good Christmas stocking stuffer!
Apple Stump Bushcraft Stuff and Things sent me an Altoids can with two screws in it and a bunch of other stuff. The kit saved my butt when my glass display case lost it's hinges on the way to a jewelry and pottery show. If I didn't have hinges my valuables would have been within easy reach of the general public! Screws are great because for many uses they are less likely to slide out. One just wouldn't have been enough!
Enjoyed your Altoids EDC tin. One suggestion a small neodium magnet, you can magnetize your micra screw driver to hold tiny screws from vanishing on the floor . simply brush the magnet across the length of the driver will magnetise it.
Don't you get sick taking all those items out for just a toothpick, or a USB cable or anything in that tin for the matter? If I had that I would just wait till I got home for a nail clippers instead of wasting time taking everything out, getting what you need, then having to put everything back in. I just don't see it as a practical use, it will just waste your time. How do you deal with that?
I have some only for emergency so i won't open them. For EDC i dont fill them up too packed. It will keep some things uncrushed and you know where it is always... Need a light? In the box in my pocket. I always know where it is and if i have it with me. Some things like fire, light, rope. I work alot with rope and boxes so a small knife is fine to put in because i use it often...
Ryan U you might need to fill a tire with air. Quarters make pretty good screwdrivers. Flipping a coin helps break indecision. You can drop one for depth perception. Some people carve them into art for trade. It can be used as bait in an idiot trap. Poke a hole in it and it’s a weight. ESP for fishing line.
Danny C hahah see what I mean? It’s a great idiot trap. And you totally revealed your approximate age group. But that just shows some want to be caught.
57HarleyDavidson you put a quarter somewhere where it can be seen or where you are watching an area. If it disappears it demonstrates someone was there. It can make someone stop to pick it up. So you can set a trap. Like leaving a dollar on your desk. It’s temptation that is set for the trap. It makes them stop look and you gain seconds.
If you decide to carry a nail in your kit, you may consider heating the tip red-hot and quenching it. This creates a very hard point that can be sharpened well and has a variety of uses.
I would recommend a benydril. Helps with anyphylactic shock if you have a severe allergy to something. Also super glue is good for holding small cuts together, so you don't have to suture you're self. Other than that it looks like a good everyday carry tin.
The Leatherman tool has a nail file, scissors and tweezers. Why would you include separate tweezers and nail clippers in the tin? Obviously the key to survival is being well manicured..
I have been living this long, I have never encountered anything of which I need any of those. Moreover, neither of my family and friends have this. Is this EDC stuff really that important?
Joey The King. Triggered is a very overused term. It refers to actual issues. I won't go on my entire rant here, please don't use that term loosely. Thank you for your time.
I got the same exact tin set up with two small differences . instead of aspirin I went with quick breakthrough pain relief 6 4mg hydromorphone tablets [dillauded] which actually are taking up less space at 6 vs 1 full sized aspirin .the other Dif is for long acting pain relief -2 80 mg oxycontins that are a bit larger but each give 24 hours of pain blocking from serious trauma .
curtis jones Thanks for the tip, Curtis. If this were more of a Survival Tin I think that would be great. Since it's for EDC, I find that I need to clean my glasses far more often than I need to start a fire.
Hi nice job on the video. I have a suggestion for your bic lighter. I have found that when you store the bic lighter with other thing's it tends to leak. my simple fix for this is to put a steel core garbage tie under the push tab and tie it around the back of the bic. the fix works great for this problem.
Thank you for all your awesome kit videos! I have learned a ton, and gotten several ideas for my husband’s and my own kits. We are just starting and love watching your videos. Keep up the awesome detailed work! Also, can’t wait until you start selling your tins!
Uuuggghh! You try so hard to hare your thoughts and expressions with us and still, there is still some people who try to knock you down! who knows! Maybe they would be helped by a prepper and then discriminate them! some people
TheUrbanPrepper Aahhh! you replied!! one of the happiest moments of my life!! anyway thank you for the reply. but in regards of what you said, yes it does take extremely thick skin!! oh P.S. you should have some more videos featuring kid prepper since its een awhile :-)
Erika Pilon Wow! I'm glad you enjoyed receiving my response to your comment. You're right. Kid Prepper is about due for another cameo appearance. I am thinking about doing another emergency food ration bar challenge soon (dreading it, actually). He always likes joining me for those videos. Stay tuned! Thanks for supporting my channel, Erika. :)
Wire-core tie wraps, the kind that they use to tie cords in packaged electronics would be a good addition. They can be bent and compacted to fit in whatever space is left, and help cut down the rattling.

"This is going to be a quick video", Read's out entire list of emergency contacts...
Very redundant and most items are for city/office folk that will freak out before going to EDC kit if shit happens - this is one of those " I cant get that time back" videos...if half of your "EDC" kit contains items for making sure your nails look good, something to pick salad out of your teeth, 1 pill so you dont shit yourself, spare button with kevlar thread (wtf?), whistle for someone violating your personal space or having a collapsable pen - then you need a purse, not an altoids can
@@TinManOne9 😂

I'm going to knit a paracord shirt and wear it everyday
+Edgar Avila I'd love to see that, Edgar!
that shirt would weigh a ton. especially sized for an Internet troll ;)

I remember when this video first came hard to believe its been 8 freakin years!!!!
The best EDC kit is between your ears.
its easier to stay prepared
I keep mints in mine, you never know when you might have a mint emergency
Don't you mean a bad breath emergency?
Or a eMINTgency! Haha
Love is in the air! Thanks for having a sense of humor!
8 years later still useful stuff
That has got to be the most complete, and most practical, Altoid tin kit I have ever seen. Nicely done!
I'm assuming this isn't survival based. It's 'normal day I need a random thing' based...?
Pat Maloney
Let's hope so, because it's useless in any other context.
Thats what EDC means.
@@misterturkturkle It stands for "Every day carry" right?
@@jag6262 yup. Since i started seeing these i actually put together an edc kit of my own. Its a backpack so i can carry bigger stuff like rolls of tape a first aid kit in an altoids tin butterfly pliers rain poncho etc.
@@misterturkturkle Yeah, a streamlined everyday backpack seems like a great Idea
When packaging a razorblade, put tape on the blade edge to ensure it stays sharp. Rubbing on the tin will dull the blade.
When packing the razor blade, how about just leaving the cardboard protective wrapper on that came with it in the first place?
I subbed just for the fact that you handle rude commenters with such a calm manner. Well done.
For all those times when I’m clipping my nails and sewing during work.
Add crazy glue. Perfect for fixing something or patching up a deep cut on you.

This is TRULY THE BEST VIDEO ON PACKING AN ALTOID TIN!!!!
I need one dollar (digs through entire tin to get to it)
Jordan Lovejoy - then takes 15 minutes to repack tin.
I’d rather dig through a tin for one dollar, than not have a dollar
Assuming you have a wallet, this is for emergency cases, hence why the quarters aren't in a priority position.
in that amount of space, you could get either 4-6€ 1000-1500 Yen just in coins.

I love how different we all are, you can see just by watching a altoids tin video.
Nice kit.
Also maybe stfu
Yes, but this is just an EDC, not a survival kit.
when I was in army I kept a pack of smokes in my altoids tin.

This is an ad kit
Proton Mail lol I thought it was pretty cool

Don't let a "clever" way of thinking limit your thought process. The numbers in case your phone is dead - useless on your dead phone.
Emergency situation with a dead phone :
1) Someone comes by with a live phone, and you don't know the phone number of a single person you know. Opps.
2) Someone comes by with a phone that works, and you are able to meet up with whoever due to this miracle you were prepared for because your though process is not limited by....YOU.

I love this! My brother showed me what he puts in his Altoid tin. He also has a mini mag fire starter that he has on his keychain.
HAHAHA Bravo Cliff, I think you have handled the snide remarks like a scholar and a gentleman.
Thanks RJ!
Hey Cliff,
Listen I just had something come up here at home with my mother and it made me think it would probably be a good idea for you to share this with your followers.

This was the video that got me started on my prepped journey
+tetsubo57 I'm guessing a cargo pocket is different from what I've just said.

It really does hold the world together,
Great video. There's no way in this world I could pack a tin that tight and get everything to fit. Kudos to you for a job well done.
I thought there would be an even smaller tin inside the little one. Tins all the way down.
I would say carry around $2 in quarters because everything in those machine high now
the only thing wrong with this is if you need something in it you have to dig for it then you have to arrange it all back
Small price to pay when you really need a Snickers!

It will keep some things uncrushed and you know where it is always...

do you really need quarters? In a emergency situation, do you think you care about putting them in parking meters?
Ryan U you might need to fill a tire with air. Quarters make pretty good screwdrivers. Flipping a coin helps break indecision. You can drop one for depth perception. Some people carve them into art for trade. It can be used as bait in an idiot trap. Poke a hole in it and it’s a weight. ESP for fishing line.
Danny C hahah see what I mean? It’s a great idiot trap. And you totally revealed your approximate age group. But that just shows some want to be caught.
@Danny C Pay Phone are still around and still in operation
@@blairbushproject What do you mean by idiot trap?
57HarleyDavidson you put a quarter somewhere where it can be seen or where you are watching an area. If it disappears it demonstrates someone was there. It can make someone stop to pick it up. So you can set a trap. Like leaving a dollar on your desk. It’s temptation that is set for the trap. It makes them stop look and you gain seconds.
If you decide to carry a nail in your kit, you may consider heating the tip red-hot and quenching it. This creates a very hard point that can be sharpened well and has a variety of uses.

Just in case I don't have the will to survive, I would include a 50ml bottle of booze and a cigarette.
Mind blown when you pulled out the mini compartment!
Haha... Awesome!
