- Join me on a solo hiking and wild camping adventure as we explore the breath-taking Flowerdale Wilderness in the stunning North West of Scotland. In this immersive outdoor adventure, we delve into the remote region just to the north of Torridon, where two majestic mountains, Beinn an Eoin and Baosbheinn, await our exploration.
Our ultimate destination is Baosbheinn, Gaelic for The Wizard's Mountain, where I set up camp on its summit after a tough hike. I share the views from the top and later a tragic story of a nearby plane crash from 1945.
📍 Location:
Flowedale Forest - Beinn an Eoin and Baosbheinn.

Proper hiking scran Peter 😋
Thanks for sharing. The place feels other worldly and drenched in time thats hard to fathom. Your video really captures the sense of magic. Thanks again
Thank you. 😊 👍🏼
They look like cracking hills, must pick a good day for them. Great video as always.
Cheers Jon and aye definitely up your street. 😎 👍🏼
Thanks Robin for sharing another interesting adventure
Cheers Steven. 👍🏼 😁
That was a great trip Robin in a remote part of the country.. You must be glad that you continued on to the 2nd summit on day 1 so you got the views from both tops. ATB Derek
Cheers Deek. Aye definitely glad I pushed on. 4pm was too early to set up camp.
Really enjoyed this. Great views and good mix of camera shots. Thank you
Cheers Vik. Appreciate it mate. 👍🏼 😎
Cracking video Robin you did well to get up to the final summit the view's were amazing on both if the weather turned bad then the hut would have been a good option but on a good day you made the right decision atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍
Cheers Jimmy. 😁 Aye if the weather was guff I'd have been in that boat house guaranteed.
So , was mommy proud of her little boy ? 😅 Nice hike ! Thanks for the video
Haha aye. ☺ Cheers BP.
Such a beautiful video my friend, this looks and sounds amazing! Masterpiece my friend!
Thank you Ervinslens.
Well, that view from the peak of the bird was unreal, superbos indeed. Plus hats off for the number of distant tripod shots, more miles than a border collie on a walk! Kudos too to Mrs Robin for the pass out, Without that wife this could not happen. Well done you.
Haha. Cheers Dave. 😎 👍🏼
Robin, always cool to get to hills you have been thinking about for some time👍 Squidgy energy all the way (even though the boathouse was inviting) to get to the middle of nowhere on the Magic Mountain😊 A beautiful evening and might have to try the Horlicks if it aids a good nights sleep💤Loved that cloud base hiding the tops as you headed off in the morning.
Cheers Gerry. Really enjoyed this hike and definitely try a Horlicks. My friend Iain got me into them on the Cape Wrath Trail. ☕
Great video Robin as usual. I’m looking forward to these two Corbett’s. I might just do the same as you 👍🏻
You should mate and Slioch whilst you're up there. 😜
Superb Robin😍👏🏻..Excellent video and a top notch vlog..That area is so amazing.I need to get back up there. The views you had were incredible.
Cheers
Robert
Cheers Roberto. 😎 👍🏼
Nice one Robin, fair enjoyed watching that. Cheers!
Cheers Alan. 😁 👍🏼
Nice one Robin - for someone who didn't have the legs at the start you did alright. The views were incredible it must be said. The best of Scotland. Ha, you got back to tell your mum all about it. They do fuss. Well, good going. Mark
Haha. Aye that Soreen loaf kept me going mate. 😁 I've asked my Mum to only use the satellite communicator if it's urgent. We'll see. 👀
@@WalkWithWallace They are packed with energy. Ha ha, mums get tempted bro. Peace.
Good stuff Robin, looked a good trip . Flowerdale is stunning area , i'll get there at some point. You made the right decision pushing on to the 2nd corbett going by the claggy morning..nice one mate ..cheers Stevie
Cheers Stevie. We'll get something else done next time. Dates just didn't align for this one.
Nice one, Robin - and you've got to love what the subtitles do to your accent. Probably just as well you were on your own 😁!
Cheers Paul. I probably need to speak a bit clearer for the subtitles. They do a good job to be fair. 😁 👍🏼
Brilliant! Cracking wee trip, thanks fir sharing
Thanks Dee. 😁 👍🏼
Great video Robin. Oh to have the knees to do a walk like that! Throughout the video, when ever I heard you say "pitched" I kept hearing "pished"...😂😂😂 Not to recommended on a big walk like that. Cheers, Jim
Haha cheers Jim, aye too many steep drops on these hills to be pished. 🥴
Wow, some of them views! Stunning 👍👌
⛰️😎👍🏼
Superbos! If ever a word needed adding to the dictionary then this is it
Haha, I'm on it but the boys at Oxford dictionary are digging their heels in. 😂
Another great Video Kev, did those two on Sunday, delayed my start until 1100 as it was pretty claggy, biked in to the point you break off the track for Beinn an Eoin, but went the opposite direction to the far end off Baosbheinn, reached the plateau just as the clag was lifting, then all the way along and descended to the Poca Buidhe bothy then a really stiff pull up to Beinn an Eoin along the ridge and back to the bike
I'd have to say it was one of the finest days I've ever had in the mountains
You mean Robin 😜
I was going to do the circuit of Baosbheinn, but was no point unless I had a lie in and allowed the cloud to lift. How was the ascent up Beinn an Eoin? Was I right to avoid it?
Great video and Smashing camp spot Robin - the views were rather good from up there 👌👌
Cheers Murray, I was actually thinking. You haven't done and or filmed these yourself yet?
@@WalkWithWallace a long time ago - but actually did a re edit of the trip during lock down. - ua-cam.com/video/LxbJG5rFlK4/v-deo.html
I always think the view to Liathach is pretty awesome from the first peak 👌👌👍
@@ScotlandsMountains ah gotcha, I'll need to have a wee swatch. 👀
Awesome views. Loved all the lakes...
Cheers bud. 😎 👍🏼
Nice video I did these with beinn dearg from a camp at a loch in the middle of that area in April what superb views well done Robin
I remember you saying that, good way to combine all 3 Corbetts.
Brilliant stuff as usual ⛰⛺🙂
Cheers Bruce. 🏕 👣 🗻
Magic video mate 🧙♂️ 🔮 Fine mountains indeed eh. What's your mum like. 😂 Think I remember you telling me aboot that plane crash. Pity aboot the clag. I thought that morning wis gonnae be ding dong. Must've been abit cloudy further NW
Cheers bud. Ken she worries about me eh. Prefers when I'm oot with you, my mountain mucker. Haha.
Aye it was kinda forecasted, cleared up by the time I was on the road hame.
Another great video Robin. Did Beinn Eoin 4 years ago with two ladies from our local club. Need to go back to do Baosbheinn. Got a short video on U tube of that day but not as professional as yours!!
The views from both are stunning, think Baosbheinn edges it for me though. 🤔
Nice one mate! Enjoyed that. 👍
Cheers Davie. 😎 👍🏼
Another great one. 👍
😎 👍🏼
Amazing area Robin,
Thankfully the morning reveal wasn't sexy🫣
Steady. 😂
Fantastic.
Cheers fella. 😎 👍🏼
Eyeing these two up myself .
Nice one. Sooner rather than later?
@@WalkWithWallace Had the plan last year too ...life has a habit of getting in the way.... Good stuff this year compared to last though.
@@andyventures6574 aye you're not kidding. Being an adult sucks sometimes. I've had a decent 2023 so far too.
@@WalkWithWallace Did part of the east highland trail last week....footage being edited .
I've also had those hills on my radar for years, ever since seeing them from Beinn Eighe, so it's great to see them close up and amazing views of the "household names".
Great minds think a like, I was chuffed to have finally done them. 😎
Very good video of a tough hike Robin. Can completely understand that you carried on, personally I liked the first hill better for the views - so would my legs as well I guess 😂😂😂
Haha 😂
As Murray touched on Beinn an Eoin probably has the best view of Liathach. 🤔
@@WalkWithWallaceprobably, but I don’t have a own built impression on it as I haven’t explored the area yet - hopefully sometime but currently my focus is rather closer to home 😎
@@StripeyHatGuy come join me Corbetteering soon. 😉
Have to admire your stamina to carry on to the second summit Robin! Breathtaking views on both, definitely lives up to it's name. Mums Eh! 🤣🤣👍👍
Cheers Tony, I was totally in two minds but can't beat the long days for continuing on. Haha, I had to tell her to only use that line of communication for emergencies. 😂
Thanks Robin; gotta love the Corbetts! 👍😀🏔🥾
Cheers mate and especially the Corbetts in the NW. 👌🏼
Awww, moms just have to worry! When do the flowers bloom up there?
They totally do. Should be blooming about now I reckon. Particularly with the recent heat wave. 🌸
There needs to be an award for sheer effort Robin. Absolutely stunning views and another two scored off. Well done mate. 👏
Cheers Mucker. 😁 I'm just glad I missed the heat wave making the hike more tolerable.
Enjoyed that! Amazing views 😊
Cheers Kerry. 😁 👍🏼
The force of will to push on to the second summit. 😁
The call of the Corbetts. 🤙🏻 🗻
Full marks for effort getting to second summit! Love the wild remoteness.
Thanks Jennifer, I'm glad I pushed on too. Would have been a lot of time loafing at Beinn an Eoin otherwise. Plus I got home quicker next again day. 😁 👍🏼
Quality! I think I'll have a wee wonder over there next time I'm up. Glad you had the good weather Robin! 👍
Cheers mate, aye two fab hills often overlooked.
Well that was magic.
Really enjoyed this one Robin.
Stunning views of some of the most iconic hills from those two tops.
Well worth the distance and the decision to keep going
Great stuff 👍👍👏👏
Cheers Dave. These have been on the radar for years. So I'm glad to finally have done them. 😎 👍🏼
Incredible views, love these isolated peaks. Inspiring stuff as always 👍🏻
Thanks Alex. 😁 👍🏼
Amazing video ....big sanstone slab looks good enuff for mountain biking .... ❤
Cheers mate, good initial track to bike in too. 😁
Such a commitment to climb these hills ... but what a landscape.... I do admire your decision to strike out for the 2nd summit.. I'd have taken the first camp suggestion and then probably decided one was enough.. 😂... Excellent effort.. 🤜🤛😎
Haha cheers Jim. The bagging bug sometimes dictates but getting home earlier the next day made it worthwhile pushing on.
Brilliant video mate, a couple of cracking hills with wonderful views all around. I was chuckling when you were talking about your mum messaging you. Haha
Thanks for sharing your adventure as always mate, cheers Dave 😀⛰🥾🏴
Cheers Dave. Mum has instructions to only message me on the Zoleo if it's urgent. Otherwise just use WhatsApp and I'll pick up her message when I come out of aeroplane mode. 😂
Superbos:-) was in Torridon yesterday at Beinn Alligin looking over to these two. They’re still on my radar to do - looks a good idea to include a camp 👌
Beinn Alligin is a peach. Love all the hills in that area. 👌🏼
Brilliant effort Robin and what about they views you got looked amazing mate 👍 "Steep as f!ck" dont think we will read that description on Walk Highlands ha ha :) Thanks for posting this wee film big man really enjoyed watching as per usual. peter :)))
Cheers Peter. 😎 👍🏼
Haha, I'll suggest to Paul that he uses that terminology in his route descriptions on Walkhighlands. 😁
Great stuff mate and makes me want to find time for at least one summit camp this year, it's been too long.
I'll need to get myself up to see that wreckage at some point too.
Cheers Bry, the wreckage site would be good to do with the missus and the dog if you're up on a wee holiday. Hope to see you camping soon. Was the last trip with Scott?
@@WalkWithWallace I'll need to give it a look and try and make it a plan.
Jeez, yeah I think my last camp was that one. That feels so long ago now, where the heck has 2023 went??
@@AScotsmanOutdoors it's been a rapid quick year so far. That's us pretty settled into our new house too.
I can entirely sympathise with the house move and how much stress / time it takes@@WalkWithWallace I'm working on landscaping my garden myself this year and my days, that takes some work too.
We'll need to get a catch-up but I'll fire you a message.
@@AScotsmanOutdoors totally, it was worth the stress in the end. Good luck with the garden mate and please do give me a shout about a meet up.
Great hills. Still got them to do. I was thinking of getting into the boathouse by MTB. Might be a bit of hike-a-bike but the way out should be quicker.
Was the Bothy not an option to stay in? Thanks for sharing.
The chap that slept in the boathouse cycled in, he said it was a bit rough but doable. Met a couple on ebikes on the way out after I stopped filming. Bothy now locked 😔.
That Robin was absolutely amazing, Mountain porn 😂 disnae get much better than that ... Superb 👌 atb Brian 👍
Haha. Cheers Brian. 😁 👍🏼
Walk with Wallace Hahahaha.... ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZXXXX
Droll patter.
Eh? 🧐
@@WalkWithWallace Yer patter is shite.
Cheers pal. 😘
Thanks for uploading, Robin. Awesome views ('scenes')! How many Corbetts is that for yourself now? 🏴🏔👍
Cheers Nick. 38 left to keep me out of mischief. 😁 👍🏼
