Sacha was so touched by the babysitter's kindness in this movie that he ended up donating $100k to a gofundme that she had set up after losing her job in the pandemic, stating, "She is one of the most authentic people I've ever met. Please consider giving a contribution to simply to say thank you to Jeanise for being 'a moral compass and a light shining in darkness' in this movie."
Sacha Baron Cohen said later that the old lady in the synagogue was so sweet he had to do something he'd never done before: go back and tell her who he really was and they were filming a parody
The Country Steve bit actually ended in a pretty terrifying way. Someone in the crowd recognized Sasha and when word got around the angry crowd tried to storm the stage. He even had to barricade himself in his trailer while they tried to break in. You can find the footage online.
I'm amazed that you didn't hear about the Giuliani bit. We all had the same reaction as you and there definitely was a big outrage around it. What a movie
Since I live in Oklahoma, I know all about Jeansie Jones' story since she lives in OKC (the babysitter of the daughter). I remember a story about her on my local news during the time of this movie's release. She was so loved during the movie that people started a crowdfunding campaign and they raised $100,000 dollars for her. Sacha Baron Cohen heard about her troubles and called her to donate another $100,000 dollars. She used it to help get her community back in shape. This was around the time we got hit by a big ice storm and other things. She used it for community members, a church and more. Finna just mean "I'm going to" or "I'm fixing to" "I'm about to"

Kazakhstan was a bit offended by the original movie and banned it...at first. Then they embraced it: in 2020, the nation's tourism board adopted a new slogan, "Kazakhstan: Very Nice!". 😂
Maria Bakalova (Tutar) did such a great job that she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. The movie was nominated for Best Adapted Screen Play.
"Finna" is slang which means "Fixing to" which is another way of saying "Going to" so when the lady says she "Finna get his ball and chain" she means that she is going to get his ball and chain.
And to specify, it's more of a southern slang term. Think of Jethro or Jed on "The Beverly Hillbillies". Another example: "I'm finna go to Walmart and pick up some Twinkies".
Sacha spent 5 days with Jerry and Jim out in that forest hut. They are not actors and were not in on the joke at all, Sacha stayed in character for their entire time together. In fact, he stayed in character for most of the recording, which took nearly a year. The only time he publically broke character was to go back to the synagogue right after filming to let Judith know it was all a joke and explained the film to her. This was brought up later in a lawsuit against the film crew by Judith's family, who wanted to sue them for defamation after Judith passed away.
The part where tuta went into the hall with all the women after the baby sitter dropped her off borat was supposed to be there HOWEVER one of the women in the hall was in the first movie already when borat said "I couldn't understand what this old man was saying" so he didn't want to be found out and sent her in alone.
It was surprising this movie had such heart to it. The actress for his daughter was great. (She was also the voice of Cosmo the dog in the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.)
He also did a series for HBO called "Who is America?" that's almost as good as some of the character parts here. It's all political stuff but he gets people to do the craziest stuff ever in that show.
Sacha did another bit with Borat, but it was only a short tv series (6 episodes) called "Debunking Borat", and it concentrated on his time staying with Jim and Jerry. The series sets about debunking the conspiracies that were mentioned in that section of the film. Sacha actually stayed with Jim and Jerry the whole five days... *in character*.
I don’t think you guys understood the “clinic” scene after she swallowed the cupcake baby. That guy wasn’t a doctor he was a pastor. Those places are disguised as planned parenthood’s but they believe abortion should always be illegal, even in cases of rape or incest. That’s why the guys reaction was so funny when Borat told him he was her father.

"Finna" is just slang for Fixing to, which is also, sort of, slang for about to. And, the Rudy thing was all over the news. Rudy swore he was just tucking his shirt in.
The For Our Rights rally Borat and his new friends went to was in Olympia, WA, which is where I live. When the news came out that Sasha Baron Cohen crashed the rally I immediately had the suspicion it was for a Borat sequel and that it was gonna be outrageous.😂
“finna” is part of the African American Vernacular English (AAVE) which is a English dialect used in many black American communities. It’s a variant of “fixing to” in the sense of preparing to do something. You can basically replace “I finna” with “I’m gonna”/“I’m going to”
23:20 - there are few facts that make this specific synagogue scene heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. It was only one time in the whole subsequent movie when Sasha Baron Cohen broke his character and talked to this lady as Sasha. His grandmother also was a Holocaust survivor. This lady - Judith Dim Evans - she was born in Germany and was only one family member to survive the Holocaust. She joined Israel resistance in 1946, and she found her husband there. She also was the youngest school principal in Israel. And she died months before the film was released.
The singing at the rally thing got out of hand, people came to protest the rally and recognized sacha which led to the people at the rally realizing they where being pranked and turning violent. Ended up with them having to escape in an ambulance with sacha holding the door shut to prevent the people breaking in >
Also, regarding "finna": Many features of African-American dialects derive from African languages, many of which have more verb tenses than English does. This shortening of "fixing to" marks a "near future" tense. Other unfamiliar tenses include "habitual", indicating by a single verb that someone does something regularly, or "in a state of", replacing "I am" followed by an adjective with a verb instead.
Without looking at IMDb, I can say with confidence that the actress playing Tutar is still working in Hollywood. She's most recently been the voice of Cosmo in Guardians of the Galaxy.

'Finna' is shortened Southern slang for 'fixing to'. It could mean "preparing to" as much as "going to". As in: "I'm fixing to eat some dinner" or "I'm finna eat some dinner"
Not sure how you guys feel but I think this is even better than the first Borat!
