A real prophet, not some magical figure, but the person who shows us who we are at our worst so we might be our better selves.
I wonder how they justified the filming with the pastor at the "women's health clinic." So hard to believe he took that seriously. Sacha is such a genius.

This was the best scene in the movie, hands down - watched almost simultaneously with a friend elsewhere and we both independently freaked out at this scene. My partner fell asleep before the film and in the middle of the night I made him watch this.
Probably a stupid question, but how were they able to film the doctor's office scene? Does the doc not notice the guy standing there with the camera? Other scenes, you can tell the camera guy is much more concealed. But with the doctor's office, he's just kinda right there next to them.
He was probably told it was a documentary or something. Sacha has said that they deceive the participants sometimes (not the best way, I know) so they don't suspect anything
Not sure about this movie, but in the old days they'd tell them they were shooting either a domestic documentary about a foreigner learning the local ways, or were a local documentary team shooting for foreign television. Either way the crew would make sympathetic faces to make the "victim" feel a little more at ease to continue.
It’s so nice to have this explained. I’ve always *wanted* to like his movies but never understand them enough to ‘get it’. Now I understand that the people are real but the storyline is fake & that the entire point is to see how really world people react & to mock places such as the women’s “health” clinic, it makes more sense.
The biggest problem is that the camera changes everything. When people are in front of camera they behave differently. If they are willing to be this racist in front of camera I wonder what they are in real life.
I would pay money to watch Sacha break down more of his stuff like this! I swear he rarely talks about proper behind the scenes of his movies. I have so many questions
Man I don't blame him for not being willing to do another movie. Considering he's showing just one scene here and it was exhausting just hearing about the preparation that went into it I can't imagine the stress it takes to pull off two whole movies like that especially with the subject matters involved in the last one
They tell the people that they are shooting a documentary and make them sign the papers beforehand. Sacha and Maria stay in character the entire time so no one suspects they're acting and not just being themselves.
He explained in a different interview that most of this film was shot using iPhones. There isn’t a huge studio camera in the room, just some guy holding up their iPhone filming.
He is shooting it as a documentary. One of the unknowing "actors" in Borat even complained they told her it's for a documentary, when in reality they were shooting a movie, which she realized after she saw it.

I’m Bulgarian but I also have family who lives in Israel, and it’s so crazy to me how audiences couldn’t tell that Maria and Sasha were speaking different languages the whole time
After he explained this, it just made me want to watch it again and pay closer attention to everything.
It is amazing how intelligent he is. He is by far one of the best actors/comedians there is and ever will be.
As far as film, politics and consciousness goes....THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST PROFOUND CLIPS INTO REALITY.
Denim Ties aren't a Canadian thing, But I know for certain that that is not the first ever denim tie. I made one myself to wear to a semi formal dance in high school over 30 years ago... Sorry ladies, I'm married.
He's such a genius man. In such a weird and unique way. So fun to watch.
Sacha is incredible. The way he gives credit to his team speaks volumes
If you can make a voice while playing a character, you are definitely an excellent actor.
Sacha is an absolute genius. The precision this scene took to make, and it was one scene in a ninety minute movie.
I hope they release this movie on dvd or Blu-ray with behind the scenes and deleted scenes I hear there were a lot of scenes that where deleted
Recently the Borat twitter account said that there will be a directors cut.
Would be awesome.
Sacha is more than a comedian. He lives in that ancient tradition of telling vivid and uncomfortable truths in undeniable ways by playing to and against our expectations. He is a prophet. A real prophet, not some magical figure, but the person who shows us who we are at our worst so we might be our better selves.
I wonder how they justified the filming with the pastor at the "women's health clinic." So hard to believe he took that seriously. Sacha is such a genius.
Maybe they said it was for one of those trashy TLC shows or something
This man is a hundred levels of genius. One of the funniest and intelligent people in the world. So grateful to share this life with him…
if these people can manipulate a situation so well and predict behavior then what’s to say when it’s no longer satire but a form of infiltrative and psychological manipulation to bring out an outcome.... I see you Sacha you’re extremely brilliant.
The fact that the scenes, between the bakery and the clinic were maybe 5 minutes tops, is absolutely insane when you hear how much planning went into it. I couldn't imagine how much went into the quarantine scene and especially the Pence/Trump Rally scene!
What an absolute geniuses SBC, Maria, and the writers are....
The man is a genius and has a wonderful crew around him to make the type of commentary that he’s been able to do
PLEASE MORE SACHA you are the only one who can make films like these
Mad respect, Absolute Legend. Find me another artist, comedian, Actor who is willing to take so much risk to life and career to highlight the rodents of the society.
Absolutely agreed! He's brilliant!!
We need more of Sacha explaining his films
"I wanna get this line out, I'm gonna get this line out, I know I've got a good gag here" really made me laugh, because he just says it as if it is important for us as the viewer to know 😂
Yeah, the writers and Maria definitely deserved their nominations
Sasha deserves an Oscar , Bafta and Palm d'or. Superb comedian
I agree! Because all the "awards" you mentioned are in fact a joke
Ballon d'Or too
This was the best scene in the movie, hands down - watched almost simultaneously with a friend elsewhere and we both independently freaked out at this scene.
He's not a doctor, that's why. He's a missionary and likes the attention to get the word out.
Completely faked
@@simplythecolororange yeah because Giuliani is a well known comedian and actor which is why he volunteered for it
I love him saying brokeback mountain informs the father/daughter relationship.
Hopefully he comes with another movie by 2021 end. Such a brilliant actor.
Probably hiding a pointed white hood in their wardrobe.
I am proud homophobe
I would pay money to watch Sacha break down more of his stuff like this! I swear he rarely talks about proper behind the scenes of his movies. I have so many questions
If only he could do this for every scene
This is a jewel of a segment
Did not expect to ever see this
What a team! Long life SBC
‘Jean Tie, we had to make those personally’😂
Man I don't blame him for not being willing to do another movie. Considering he's showing just one scene here and it was exhausting just hearing about the preparation that went into it I can't imagine the stress it takes to pull off two whole movies like that especially with the subject matters involved in the last one
16:00 "After this movie.. I don't wanna shoot one of those movies ever again, it's too hard" - Sasha is getting old..
you dont understand how hard im laughing at that jean tie
Lol so how does he explain the cameramen filming inside the bakery or clinic. Always wondered that
They tell the people that they are shooting a documentary and make them sign the papers beforehand. Sacha and Maria stay in character the entire time so no one suspects they're acting and not just being themselves.
He explained in a different interview that most of this film was shot using iPhones. There isn’t a huge studio camera in the room, just some guy holding up their iPhone filming.
@@CrazyMagyar I don't believe that. He goes into the clinic with another guy holding a phone. Another of these scenes are staged Imo
@@CrazyMagyar no way that's an iPhone camera. where does he say that?
He is shooting it as a documentary. One of the unknowing "actors" in Borat even complained they told her it's for a documentary, when in reality they were shooting a movie, which she realized after she saw it.
Maria was amazing in this movie, and she so beautiful. Maria and Sacha were a great team. This was definitely a successful sequel.
Comedic genius, balls the size of the moon, seems like a genuinely nice person all around: Yup... SBC is at the top of my list of celebrities I'd love to have a beer (or two) with for a reason. :)
SBC is amazing, I’m grateful for this insight into his process.
"Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan" is the longest title of an Oscar nominated movie, ever.
Edit: I posted this before reaching the end and Sacha told us 😂
alright can we have the 2 hour version now? this was brilliant
He needs to do a Masterclass series on satire and acting...
This makes you realize how much actually goes into these movies that seem so "simple"
I'd like to know how many people recognised SBC during filming, causing them to have to reshoot the scene elsewhere.
I've watched the Borat movies at least 3 times and I've always noticed something new or a joke made a connection that I hadn't seen before.
We need to appreciate this talented human. Can't get enough of your movies. Love it so much ❤️ intellectual and hilarious
Never thought I said this, but BORAT is kind of a masterclass in filmmaking...
Gotta love how before the 2020 American election, Conservatives often used Borat as an example of a someone that wasn't politically correct. And who they often used to troll Liberals with.
But boy did that change with Borat 2.
With that movie, conservatives finally understood that he was mercilessly mocking THEM. And once they realized that, they organized a campaign on forums to review bomb the movie with negative scores.
Its all very funny.
This is fascinating. I would watch Sacha give his commentary through the entire movie. He is so brilliant.
