  • Here's a look into how I shape a knife handle. The keys for me here are using stencils and keeping everything square before I round off the edges. That's simply the best method that I've found to work for me, but hopefully some of it can help you with your process.
    Thanks for checking it out!

    You are an extremely talented young man. Wow. When you wet the wood it's called raizing the grain. Cabinet makers use steel hand scapers to take it off. 400 grit sandpaper will do the same. Love your vids. I have learned lots already. Thanks.

    The flow is just perfect, the content is spot one. Not to little not to much.
    The time for each clip is awesome.
    Never ever fall for the same trap als folk like Alec steele and stuff like him.
    But pls keep this up! I really enjoyed it.

    Awesome video! What grit do you sand the spine to? Also do you round your spine? If so, how is that done?
    Thank you for your videos!

    • @saccoknives
      @saccoknives  Рік тому

      I usually take the spine to 800 because that’s what I hand sand the handle to. I do round the spine but not a full round, I mostly just knock down the edges with a slack belt so they’re not sharp

  • @GibsonCutlery
    @GibsonCutlery Рік тому

    Seriously beautiful! I noticed you got some sanding contamination on the white G10 when you were on your finer grits but then somehow cleaned it up. I've never had much luck being able to clean that off! How did you do that? I finally just resorted to sealing it with a quick thinned coat of dewaxed shellac at 220 which fills the voids and prevents the contamination from forming from the higher grits. (incidentally, shellac or just plain denatured alcohol will raise your grain without water if you're looking for a way to avoid that)

    • @saccoknives
      @saccoknives  Рік тому +1

      Yea the white g10 can be a real pain. The best way to avoid it getting dirty is to use fresh fresh belts and sandpaper. As soon as the sandpaper stops cutting it gets loaded up with wood dust or metal and can then fill the pores of the g10. Very tricky sometimes, but I don’t use a single piece of sandpaper for too long if I’m using white g10
