    I love going to auction, made so many friends there. So much to learn from watching what other dealers buy and pay for items. Thanks for the video xx

      It’s one of the final frontiers for many resellers, a lot will probably never step foot in one due to stereotypes etc, but it’s a lot of fun!

    If someone asks for delayed post we do it mark as despatched and then post when customer wants it. I always advise this will happen and send them the tracking number when shipped . I checked with eBay and this is what they told us to do

      It is funny, because eBay told us the exact opposite (although we were contacted by the customer via email and not ebay).

    I Used to go to W&H P before they rebuilt. in the late 00'S they used to have regular record/music/film specialized sales, used to buy boxes of records.. unfortunately they stopped doing them. Not sure why.

    just coming up to the end of my first year selling on the side of my job. have slowly ramped up but auctions have been my go to since the start. My local auction just finished this afternoon, 1300 spent- lots to keep me busy. I tend to go to the viewing day so most stuff is in good condition unless I have missed something.
    For the things that you have said aren't worth it, for me its anything under £10, they go to the carboot and get them out cheap, normally bring home a few hundred each weekend this way on stuff that was part of a job lot that I didn't want or had been stagnant a bit.
    Well done to the both of you, love the channel

      Thanks, sounds like you’ve going hard into it - great stuff! Weee not really in to selling at carboots but yes that would be a great way to clear unwanted stock for sure!

    its years since I went to an auction but last visit extremely worth while. It was an FA Cup Final day, hardly anyone there - got loads of bargains ! Try a major sports event day (may have been before internet bidding?)

    As someone who has also done a lot of general auction purchasing I would also add that please note you are often buying mixed Job lots to get things cheap, you are not really cherry picking stock to sell online and therefore will often have a lot of stock not really good or desirable for online sales so will also have to think about Car Booting to clear it and pull some cash from it.

    • @Married2Reselling
      @Married2Reselling  6 місяців тому

      To be honest selling at a carboot isn’t something we’re particularly interested in, but understand that it is a good way to clear unwanted stuff. We prefer to donate, but carboots are a good option for others.

    • @NorfolkReseller
      @NorfolkReseller 5 місяців тому

      @@Married2Reselling Same here, I donate the unwanted stuff a few times a year to a local Church monthly sale. I should have worded a bit better as I wasn't really aiming at yourselves - but rather anyone new watching that may have thought this was the easy all-in-one cheap stock solution for pure online sales. I find I can get a lot of stuff quick, but really needs some room for storage / sorting / handling. If you are new to online selling I would still go cherry picking stock from CS and CB, or even Jumble Sales to start with.

    I love auctions but all round by are higher end antiques and no general clearance ones. Also can’t be trusted at them and spend too much

  • @digvintage5769

    I'd like to see the figures - love a good spreadsheet! We don't do auctions, but then we enjoy car boots and get enough (actually, too much) stock during the season, so no need to go. I'm not sure I trust myself not to overpay!

    I love your videos. You make great margins on items you buy at auctions but you sell a lot of stuff under £20. In time I think you will find you are spending too much time and effort with this model. The packing/posting, in particular, will become exhaustingI started selling on EBay in 1999 so I speak from experience but I would love to see you prove me wrong. Very best wishes,Roger.

      Yes, compared to other models we run such as FBA, it’s much different. But we do like the variety and enjoy the category so don’t see it going away as a part of our business. Things pivot for one reason or another though so you never know.
