In this video instructions I will show you how to disassemble the PS5 DualSense controller. Yes, now the PlayStation 5 gamepad is called DualSense, not the DualShock as it was called on the previous generation.

I really wish they would design these to remove the front panel first. All I want to do is clean the buttons [because they stuck first thing out of the box!]

Battery would have to be in front as well.
All that takes is rubbing alcohol on the sides of the buttons
@maker.o That was the first thing I tried. After taking one apart, it was something between the underside of the buttons & the board itself...shite manufacturing.
Thanks for the video, I used this as a guide to fix my controller, I changed all the buttons, battery and full L2 adaptive trigger, I had slot of experience taking apart the duelshock 4 but this was my first time on a dualsense, thanks👍

Great video! Is one of those chips the gyroscope? I've watched so many video's like this and not a single one mentions where the gyroscope is. My gyroscope is broken and I'd like to solder on a new one, if only I knew where it was.

There's no way its easier to disassemble than the DS4. DS4 was a cheap pc of crap. Structurally it feels way more sturdy than the DS4, but I'm not sure if its functionally better or not. The springs for the triggers are not designed as well as the DS4, thats for sure. Already have had a few break. The little pc of plastic that the spring actually sits on is so tiny. I could see that becoming an issue in the future, but if I can just order a new housing for the adaptive triggers? EzPz. Great video.

I opened my remote, put it back together. Everything was fine and then after a while the Bluetooth stopped working. Do you know why? Or which part controls Bluetooth?
When I assembly it back, the R1 and L1 buttons are stiff in place and will not press down like a normal button. HELP PLEASE

Yes. You could literally just cut them off. I would recommend desoldering though. Takes 2 seconds to solder them back on if you were selling or gifting. I used to do it with old controllers.
Is there a way to tighten the bumpers? My L1 is loose and I can feel the spring when I release it

Excellent video. One thing different on my PS5 controller bought in 2023 is @3:27 this piece does not exist. There must have been a revision change. I used to to change the d-pad buttons to 4 individual to fix the mushy d-pad. While I was in there I swapped to PS4 controller square circle triangle X buttons because I think they look much nicer. To fit PS4 buttons into a PS5 controller requires cutting off one alignment tab on each button. Other than the circle button sticking up slightly too high they work perfect.

Edit: Checking for completed repairs are probably annoying as hell... taking it apart and putting it back together multiple times to test buttons for instance. So many steps just to repeat for such a simple troubleshooting task.

The part at 1:56 is not nearly as easy as it looks if the controller hasn't already been torn apart. You'll likely spend 2-4 hours just trying to pry that apart even with the correct tools.
only need one type of screwdriver, thats really handy! I took apart the Nintendo switch joycon and there I needed more screwdrivers

The screws that hold the motor went flying around the housing of the trigger when I hit the controller really hard, surprisingly easy to tear it apart and fix it then put it back together to be in perfect condition
Thank you for taking the time to show this. I need to take mine apart and check the spring on the right hand trigger. As of a month of use, the right trigger is noticeably loose and does not have as much resistance as the left trigger which feels like it did from the first day. Worries I’ve got a weak/deformed spring in there! Maybe need to reshape/replace 🤷🏻♂️
FYI I play shooters so the R2 trigger gets a lot of action, and I may be heavy handed at times but still don’t expect it to fail this quick. I had to transplant triggers between my two PS4 controllers in the past but that was after 5+ years of usage :(
The springs literally snap in half. They are poorly designed. Ordered a bulk replacement set on Amazon for like 3 dollars. DS4 springs also work and will last longer. They won't, however, have the same resistance.
@@gabrielschatzman5778 you’re right. In the end I cannibalised two springs from my old PS4 controller and put them both on the broken right trigger-it had snapped like yours. No more issues since replacing-though I since bought a second controller and now waiting for that to fail at some point 😬
@@TommyDriver89 my L2 trigger just started having this same problem. Did you look into trying getting Sony to replace it? It doesn't seem hard to fix it myself but I don't want to if i don't have to

I’m done with PlayStation I’m selling it i go through so many controllers I tried to take it apart by watching this video but I ended up breaking the fuckin thing I just can’t afford this shit no more

He’s able to remove the white shell meanwhile I can’t do it for some reason I even have a whole ifixit kit with a jimmy and that shit just peels the white shell without effort
What is the capacity of mAh in dualsense battery?
it is lithium-ion battery 1560mAh and a capacity of 5.7 W/h. Compared to the battery from the DualShock 4, but had a capacity of 1000mAh and a much lower capacity of 3.7 Wh. It is also indicated here that the maximum charge current is 1.4A and, consequently, fast charging, for example, at 3A will charge the controller only at half the power.
This one, and ps4, are the nicest controllers i ever used 🔥

Awesome this boosts my confidence 🚬💋💅🏻 a bunch on replacing my controller shell, I just bought a hot 🔥💗 pink controller 🎮 shell with purple 💜 buttons and triggers to replace the boring standard ⚫ black. I haven't done a controller shell since I was teen in the good ole ps2 days 🎮
Why couldnt they have kept it simple like the ps4 controller was damn u sony... Changing the battery is a process but when aftermarket shells are produced if i wanna change to a full custom shell its now gonna be a really sensitive job 1 mistake will ruin my dual sense.
Hi, I noticed some of the nails are different sizes (silver, black and slightly shorter black). After I reassembled mine fixing the original problem, the buttons are now laggy and only work after multiple presses on games. I think maybe due to some loose parts bevause of wrong nail sizes, could you go over
My controller doesn’t have that big chip on the motherboard also after removing the motherboard I noticed I don’t have those 2 screws on the top to remove. Is my control a different model or what?
