In this video instructions I will show you how to disassemble the PS5 DualSense controller. Yes, now the PlayStation 5 gamepad is called DualSense, not the DualShock as it was called on the previous generation.

I really wish they would design these to remove the front panel first. All I want to do is clean the buttons [because they stuck first thing out of the box!]

Battery would have to be in front as well.
All that takes is rubbing alcohol on the sides of the buttons
@maker.o That was the first thing I tried. After taking one apart, it was something between the underside of the buttons & the board itself...shite manufacturing.
Excellent video. One thing different on my PS5 controller bought in 2023 is @3:27 this piece does not exist. There must have been a revision change. I used to to change the d-pad buttons to 4 individual to fix the mushy d-pad. While I was in there I swapped to PS4 controller square circle triangle X buttons because I think they look much nicer. To fit PS4 buttons into a PS5 controller requires cutting off one alignment tab on each button. Other than the circle button sticking up slightly too high they work perfect.
Thanks for the video, I used this as a guide to fix my controller, I changed all the buttons, battery and full L2 adaptive trigger, I had slot of experience taking apart the duelshock 4 but this was my first time on a dualsense, thanks👍
Fixed water damage on my dualsense by changing the conductive film. Thank you and thank god sony isn't apple

The part at 1:56 is not nearly as easy as it looks if the controller hasn't already been torn apart. You'll likely spend 2-4 hours just trying to pry that apart even with the correct tools.
6:57 thanks SO MUCH for showing the DPAD... every other disassembly video on utube they only shown the buttons but skip on dpad...
I notice at 6:51 the X button has 2 less of those little plastic bridges inside. I have 2 PS5 controllers right now and both of them after a day or so have the X button constantly sticking and clicking, hard to press etc. Could that be contributing to the reason of this happening? Design flaw or? Why is that the only one which is different and also happens to be the only button having issues so far.

Thanks to this video I got enough confidence to fix my controller and buy replacement parts for 6 euros instead of buying a new controller for 70 euros.

The screws that hold the motor went flying around the housing of the trigger when I hit the controller really hard, surprisingly easy to tear it apart and fix it then put it back together to be in perfect condition

Thank you for taking the time to show this. I need to take mine apart and check the spring on the right hand trigger. As of a month of use, the right trigger is noticeably loose and does not have as much resistance as the left trigger which feels like it did from the first day. Worries I’ve got a weak/deformed spring in there! Maybe need to reshape/replace 🤷🏻♂️
FYI I play shooters so the R2 trigger gets a lot of action, and I may be heavy handed at times but still don’t expect it to fail this quick. I had to transplant triggers between my two PS4 controllers in the past but that was after 5+ years of usage :(
The springs literally snap in half. They are poorly designed. Ordered a bulk replacement set on Amazon for like 3 dollars. DS4 springs also work and will last longer. They won't, however, have the same resistance.
@@gabrielschatzman5778 you’re right. In the end I cannibalised two springs from my old PS4 controller and put them both on the broken right trigger-it had snapped like yours. No more issues since replacing-though I since bought a second controller and now waiting for that to fail at some point 😬
@@TommyDriver89 my L2 trigger just started having this same problem. Did you look into trying getting Sony to replace it? It doesn't seem hard to fix it myself but I don't want to if i don't have to

Do you need that 3rd cable at the bottom near the mic for the controller to turn on

@@jayyemm69 thanks for the answer! so there are two microphones? because in the video he says that the microphone is the one near the battery, i.e. on the back of the dualsense (and he even says this while removing the connector) 2:21
How so the faceplate buttons feel in comparison with the dualshock4?

I noticed there's a few screws slightly longer than the rest. Where do those go? I disassemble mine and didn't notice this till I started reassembling it.
I opened my remote, put it back together. Everything was fine and then after a while the Bluetooth stopped working. Do you know why? Or which part controls Bluetooth?

Great video! Is one of those chips the gyroscope? I've watched so many video's like this and not a single one mentions where the gyroscope is. My gyroscope is broken and I'd like to solder on a new one, if only I knew where it was.

Hi, I noticed some of the nails are different sizes (silver, black and slightly shorter black). After I reassembled mine fixing the original problem, the buttons are now laggy and only work after multiple presses on games. I think maybe due to some loose parts bevause of wrong nail sizes, could you go over

I know its ultimately my fault, but I REALLY WISH you would've clarified on the removal of the battery chip piece and how sensitive it is. I went to pull it out with tweezers just like you did in the video, but didnt know it was just the chip part rhat was plugged into the main little unit on the motherboard and I ended up ripping up the whole thing so now it's ruined and Ill have to pay someone to smolder it or whatever. Thanks anyways.

You saved my ass. A drop of Cola run under the touchpad and it was very sticky when i press the touchpad. I clean up everything and now its fine

What is the capacity of mAh in dualsense battery?
it is lithium-ion battery 1560mAh and a capacity of 5.7 W/h. Compared to the battery from the DualShock 4, but had a capacity of 1000mAh and a much lower capacity of 3.7 Wh. It is also indicated here that the maximum charge current is 1.4A and, consequently, fast charging, for example, at 3A will charge the controller only at half the power.
I accidentally ripped the red and black wires that connect to the motherboard. I don’t know what to do. Please help.

Edit: Checking for completed repairs are probably annoying as hell... taking it apart and putting it back together multiple times to test buttons for instance. So many steps just to repeat for such a simple troubleshooting task.

Yes. You could literally just cut them off. I would recommend desoldering though. Takes 2 seconds to solder them back on if you were selling or gifting. I used to do it with old controllers.

I wish they made the controller a bit stronger and sturdier, i now have to buy a new one because they made it of cheap materials, but the tutorial was great, the controller broke too easily
