When I took apart my ps3 controller a while back springs shot out and collapsed into a pile of parts. That's when I went to the store and bought a third party controller to replace it.
This video shows where are the pegs holding down the casing, very helpful. I've seen other videos, they didn't show it. I had to figure it out AFTER I had taken them apart.
Really makes me appreciate the $70 price point for all that engineering, technology, manufacturing and love that gets packed into these controllers. This controller is a masterpiece and the result of decades of innovation and evolution from one of the top gaming companies in the world.
Another perfect teardown video. Well done, Josh! Hope to see many more just like this. BTW, listening with headphones is an awesome ASMR trip... binaural-like! Brilliant!
I enjoy all consoles.. No hate for any of them.. Having a hard time finding the X Box Series X but I have the disc based PS5 surprisingly.. No hate for any consoles or any console gamer's choice.. Enjoyed your comment, Skye! Happy gaming!! :)
@@Black-hf6zy I mean at the very least, it could use some gyro. That way we can finally get devs experimenting with flick stick since every console would now have gyro. If you don't know what flickstick is, check it out on UA-cam. The guy who created the concept made some detailed videos into how it works and its benefits. It essentially puts the controller nearly on par with the mouse. Maybe even better cause you also have analog movement. As the console that's supposed to be known for being the place to play shooters, lacking gyro is a pretty big womp womp from me. Gyro driving in GT7 is also not half bad if you would believe it. No force feedback obviously, and it's just a free floating controller, but I've been instinctually driving with gyro since the PS1. I know I'm not the only one. And the haptics do wonders for you since it can tell you what your tires are doing so you can try to correct it. Takes a bit of time to get used to and to understand what the different vibrations mean, but it's a decent band aid solution to not being a wheel with force feedback. I don't use it all the time but I like to dabble with it. A little controller mount that spins with some resistance would be perfect, maybe with a magnetic back plate on the controller with some holes for sockets to fit from the mount, so you can quickly mount and unmount the controller with some level of security. Something like that can't be too expensive but with how few devs are really using gyro, we're probably not gonna see something like that even though it would be the dream controller setup for GTAVI. Bro. Can you even imagine?
They used the same joystick structure so it will have the same problems, stick drift ect. They are using gommlet button pads that will most likely wear down after a certain I
@@drexlerramos4780 Yeah , I have two of those , just like you. But other 3 have the obnoxious stick drift , L3 / sprint not functioning after certain time and R3 clicking issues as well. You need to be lucky to not have any of these !
I don't know why I watched this video but thank you very much because it is so cool! Am I the only one who when I dismantle something at the end of the reassembly I always find myself with more screws? 🤣
WOW, theres is so much electronics and engineering, i remember the arari controls, it was just a pure and simple shortcut for each command, not evan a simple resistor or capacitor inside

Fifth generation of controllers and Sony still cannot, for the love of themselves and their players, add a stable ribbon cable connection between the button pads and the circuit board. Jesus Christ, it’s like seeing the DualShock 3 tearing apart again but with way too much money on the line this time.
can you do the bdm 040 ? i recently fixed my stick drift but two of the wires, yellow and green, came out on the right side. i’m needing help fixing this issues through soldering or whatever methods work
@@RestoreTechnique Perfect. Just one more question, the cable from the vibrator motor that goes on motherboard is teared on my controller, how can I find an replacement to it ?
@@samcex There are 2 vibration motors, 1 on each side. They have 2 wires each connecting to the motherboard (red and black). They are just standard solid core wire, any replacement wire will do, as long as it's the same gauge (thickness) or thicker. You will need to solder it on. Or are you talking about the flex cable connecting the adaptive triggers?
Why this man dont have more subscriber's??? He is very detailed and uses very good filming angles, better than many channels with 1m subscribers
UA-cam is all about luck TBH, but he will get there eventually.

Looks quite serviceable compared to xbox.
@@MrMannyhw why you gotta compare it to Xbox man.

I'm an Xbox guy but... This controller is truly impressive the tech that they've squeezed into that body. Good on you Sony for doing some innovation.

I loved it since the begining, even better than a touching session on a Sunday afternoon
They are not standard vibration motors with a spinning mass on them, they are actually linear motors and can provide much more precise haptics

Yeah, I was hoping they changed out those sh*tty analog sticks for better ones

" The usb charge port requires soldering skill to replace" I think if you made it that far, you have the skill to replace it.

Not sure, maybe for shock absorption when pressing the buttons. Or maybe to stop rattle on the buttons with the new vibration motors.
