    Nice finish and excellent tolerance and fit on the cylinder. If it is made in Brazil, it is more likely to have been made on the old Smith & Wesson machinery that Taurus purchased, years ago. It is a very well built revolver, at least the one that I handled at my local gs.

    I love mine. I have 2 I picked up for cowboy action shooting.i use them in competitions. A little polish work and spring kits they make a decent race gun. I have looked everywhere for grips. Even the special addition big iron still has plastic grips just colored brown.

    Taurus did a nice job on this Colt 1873 model P , BUT i think I'd rather get the Uberti through Cimmeron made in Italy by Craftsman the original way with fire case hardening and hot salt bluing and walnut stocks like the Cattleman ll , They are Stunning Beautiful reproductions.

    The Safety Brigade get really out of hand on single action revolvers in particular. I’ve carried a 6 loaded cap and ball replica with the hammer resting between caps for years. On one I didn’t like, I’ve even loaded caps over empty chambers and drop tested it before scrapping it for parts. It did end up with the hammer resting on a cap a couple times. One drop even sheared off a safety pin, but it never set one off, even dropped above head height onto carpeted concrete floors. Since that test, I take my chances and load 6.

    Nice video…eventually would like to get a 4 3;4” Deputy.
    You should get yourself a Heritage Rough Rider…they are really pretty nice, and for what they sell for on sale, it’s a no brainer. Don’t understand how they can sell such a nice revolver and make a profit. And, they are manufactured in the U.S.A.!

    Taurus also owns Heritage Arms which makes the Rough Rider 22LR single action, and it's made in Bainbridge GA. Heritage started in 1992 and was bought by Taurus in 2012. Evidently they no longer make the larger caliber revolvers with Heritage, and are sticking with the 22LR/22WMR guns.
    I've always wanted to get a Ruger Blackhawk in 357, but this in 357 seems pretty interesting, and at half the price of the Blackhawk.

    The bullet got stuck like that because it just came out slightly and got caught on the inside of the loading gate, load with weapon angled down to avoid that

    What's with the little kind of hard rubber washer on the cylinder? I would think that would burn up after a few box's. I've owned several 1873s over the years and that washer is a first for me.

    Never let hammer down from half cock position...it's causes premature wear on the internal parts and will leave drag marks on the cylinder.

    Silly question the screw that hols the ramrod in place is there a nut in the barrel?
    You would have to remove the ramrkd

      I haven't taken it apart to see so I'm not really sure, but as far as I know it just screws directly into the outside of the barrel to some degree. The inside is fully rifled.

    For Taurus to recommend the empty chamber, for carry when it is designed with a safety notch and transfer bar is an oxymoron and proves that companies are prone to advise for their liability rather than common sense safety for the customer.

    • @TheDogGeneral
      @TheDogGeneral Місяць тому

      It's because it's a legacy design and Taurus didn't invent it they have copied it utilize the technical data packet but you know it's basically a cover your ass liability provision that their executives are just trying to make sure that there's no way someone can say in a oxymoron capacity oh they were being Reckless but factual

    The real question for me is, will Colt SAA grips fit this revolver? I plan to get one with a 4 3/4 inch barrel. They only have the added "cowboy load" bullshit there to appease the anti gunner communists running our country right now. That and people nowadays are stupid enough to find a way to actually make that happen lmao. Ill be packing mine as a daily come winter when she can be concealed. Probably gonna have a shoulder rig rather than a belt as i daily a Smith and Wesson m&p9 m2.0 compact optics ready with a thumb safety and flat face trigger. Ill pack both in winter because i flippin can lol. This is Texas. In the winter, i usually wear my alpaca hair poncho if its dry and my saddle slicker if'n it ain't. This will just add to the western style i have now and in summer, I'll just be packing it open only if im out in the woods. 357 does a real number on hogs. Other than that, shes my glove box gun. You can NEVER have too many guns because evil can NEVER be dead enough.
