    Ran into the same problem looking for a holster for my shadow 2. I shoot competitively and I’m tired of using the Blackhawk omnivore, it’s cut to the light rather than the pistol. Not a reliable design. I have a Dara drop leg holster for my Walther PDP, and absolutely love it. Will probably order another Dara for my CZ, safariland is taking too long to reply to my custom order request and they’re based in my hometown too.

    Love the build! I own the very same rifle with an Aimpoint PRO and 3X magnifier on mine. I love quad rails better. I also recently bought a DD M4A1 Block II SOCOM heavy profile barrel with the RIS II rail like Larry Vickers tested except mine is the full quad rail without the fixed front sight. I bout it at Brownell’s as an exclusive offer they have. It’s hard to locate a DD SOCOM barrel anywhere. Anyway love your video

    I forgot to mention in the video that I do have a dump pouch on the way. The one I currently have is too big to fit properly, so it's getting replaced with a smaller one. Also, I'm 99% sure that GP pouch is going to be relocated as well!

    For those who are extra curious about the price... IIRC the "corrected" sale price was around $1400 or $1450 which is already a good deal on it's own. I ended up paying a few hundred less than that, with no tax and free shipping. 😁

    Taurus did a nice job on this Colt 1873 model P , BUT i think I'd rather get the Uberti through Cimmeron made in Italy by Craftsman the original way with fire case hardening and hot salt bluing and walnut stocks like the Cattleman ll , They are Stunning Beautiful reproductions.

    Great purchase. I hope I can get one at a reasonable price. Currently, the exclusive supplier in my country sells it for around $4200. There will be a gun show in September, and hopefully, I will get it there. Just curious, are there any differences between this one and the orange O R? If so, which one do you recommend to get for competitions mainly?

    • @FabianStrategy-76
      @FabianStrategy-76 3 місяці тому

      The orange is supposed to be a slight upgrade, but I'm not sure exactly what they do to it. Something with the recoil spring bushing and a slightly more polished trigger, I think. Honestly, either will be perfectly fine for competition. Get whichever one you prefer, or can afford. I went with the blue because it was cheaper, and I like the blue grips better than the orange 😆

    Nice finish and excellent tolerance and fit on the cylinder. If it is made in Brazil, it is more likely to have been made on the old Smith & Wesson machinery that Taurus purchased, years ago. It is a very well built revolver, at least the one that I handled at my local gs.

      Just a follow-up, I purchased the Deputy in 357/38 a few weeks ago. Very pleased ! One issue is that I had the cylinder bushing fall out and knowing the history of being able to get parts from Taurus, I was a bit concerned about it. A little dab of metal glue took care of that.

    The real question for me is, will Colt SAA grips fit this revolver? I plan to get one with a 4 3/4 inch barrel. They only have the added "cowboy load" bullshit there to appease the anti gunner communists running our country right now. That and people nowadays are stupid enough to find a way to actually make that happen lmao. Ill be packing mine as a daily come winter when she can be concealed. Probably gonna have a shoulder rig rather than a belt as i daily a Smith and Wesson m&p9 m2.0 compact optics ready with a thumb safety and flat face trigger. Ill pack both in winter because i flippin can lol. This is Texas. In the winter, i usually wear my alpaca hair poncho if its dry and my saddle slicker if'n it ain't. This will just add to the western style i have now and in summer, I'll just be packing it open only if im out in the woods. 357 does a real number on hogs. Other than that, shes my glove box gun. You can NEVER have too many guns because evil can NEVER be dead enough.

    Taurus also owns Heritage Arms which makes the Rough Rider 22LR single action, and it's made in Bainbridge GA. Heritage started in 1992 and was bought by Taurus in 2012. Evidently they no longer make the larger caliber revolvers with Heritage, and are sticking with the 22LR/22WMR guns. I've always wanted to get a Ruger Blackhawk in 357, but this in 357 seems pretty interesting, and at half the price of the Blackhawk.

    Never let hammer down from half cock position...it's causes premature wear on the internal parts and will leave drag marks on the cylinder.

    The Safety Brigade get really out of hand on single action revolvers in particular. I’ve carried a 6 loaded cap and ball replica with the hammer resting between caps for years. On one I didn’t like, I’ve even loaded caps over empty chambers and drop tested it before scrapping it for parts. It did end up with the hammer resting on a cap a couple times. One drop even sheared off a safety pin, but it never set one off, even dropped above head height onto carpeted concrete floors. Since that test, I take my chances and load 6.

  • @TightwadTodd
    @TightwadTodd 5 місяців тому

    For Taurus to recommend the empty chamber, for carry when it is designed with a safety notch and transfer bar is an oxymoron and proves that companies are prone to advise for their liability rather than common sense safety for the customer.

    • @TheDogGeneral
      @TheDogGeneral 4 місяці тому

      It's because it's a legacy design and Taurus didn't invent it they have copied it utilize the technical data packet but you know it's basically a cover your ass liability provision that their executives are just trying to make sure that there's no way someone can say in a oxymoron capacity oh they were being Reckless but factual

    • @PitbullSoco
      @PitbullSoco 19 днів тому

      It has a Transfer bar in order to be drop safe. My guess is they still aren't going to recommend pulling the trigger and riding the hammer down on a live round. It may be for liability but I don't understand the "rather than safety" comment. Obviously riding a hammer down on an empty chamber is safer than one on a live round. Would be different if you didn't have to pull the trigger in order to do it but considering you literally have to pull the trigger to ride the hammer, the transfer bar will be over the firing pin and if your thumb slips, she's going pow. Its not like it has a decocker

    • @TightwadTodd
      @TightwadTodd 19 днів тому

      @@PitbullSoco because any experienced single action carrier should know not to ride the trigger, when "Riding the Hammer down", regardless if it has a transfer bar or not. It is also why i recommend not thumb tipping the hammer and lowering it to the frame but, wrapping the thumb over the hammer and meeting the frame as you slightly rotate the revolver, all while using your trigger finger pressed firmly against the front of the guard as leverage and control. been "Decocking a single action this way for over 40 years and have yet to have a hammer slip or an ND.
